Diddy’s Request For House Arrest Until His 2025 Trial Was Reportedly Denied By A Judge

On September 16, Sean “Diddy” Combs was taken into federal custody amid his sex trafficking allegations. The following day, Diddy was formally charged with racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking by force, fraud or coercion, and transportation to engage in prostitution.

Since then Diddy’s legal team has been hard at work trying to get the disgraced mogul released. After their requests for a bond were denied three times, Diddy’s lawyers have reportedly taken a different approach. According to US Weekly, Diddy’s legal team requested that he be released on house arrest until his trial, which is tentatively scheduled for May 2025.

But the outlet claims presiding US District Judge Arun Subramanian “immediately rejected the idea.”

“That is not going to work,” he said.

In the lawyers’ proposal they suggested Diddy be confided to his Star Island mansion in Miami, Florida. The property was one of Diddy’s estates that was raided by Homeland Security and local authorities in March.

They also offered Diddy’s heavily guarded Upper East Side apartment as a secondary option. Both offered were rejected by the judge. Instead, Diddy will remain at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center.

The latest (and fourth) bail decision regarding Diddy’s detainment will be decided next week according to the outlet.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Squabble Up” Headed For A #1 Debut

Kendrick Lamar’s GNX album is projected to be the biggest release in 2024 with his anticipated track, “squabble up,” leading the way. The song, originally teased in July, is on pace to debut at #1 on the Billboard Hip-Hop charts. It has already topped the Apple and Spotify charts after Lamar released the album on Friday (Nov. 22). The song was teased at the beginning of the music video for Lamar’s Grammy-nominated hit “Not Like Us.” Fans couldn’t get enough of rapping the song’s intro verse, “Woke up looking for the broccoli.”

“Squabble Up” has accumulated over 3.2 million views on YouTube and over 14 million streams on Spotify. The song samples Debbie Deb’s 80s classic “When I Hear Music.” The legendary singer would comment on Lamar’s use of the classic on Friday. She tweeted, “I’m excited and honored to be on Squabble Up! Thank you @kendricklamar for keeping Old Skool alive!.”  The iconic sample joins others like Luther Vandross’ “This World Was Mine” and 2Pac’s “Made N***as.”

Kendrick Lamar’s “Squabble Up” Coming For That #1 Spot

Despite “squabble up” taking center stage, the buzz around the album shows no signs of waning. The album is receiving widespread acclaim for its bold themes and incisive lyricism. The conversations it has ignited—both within the music industry and beyond—demonstrate Lamar’s extraordinary talent for provoking thought and stirring emotion, one line at a time. Lamar’s release follows a huge year for Top Dawg Entertainment that saw the release of new music by Schoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and Doechii.

In a single day, GNX accumulated over 44 million streams on Spotify. The addition of “wacced out murals” and “squabble up” has earned Lamar a record-breaking five #1 hits in 2024. The streak began with “Like That,” Kendrick earned #1 hits with “Not Like Us” and “Euphoria.” “Not Like Us” received seven Grammy nominations for the 58th award. The Grammy-nominated hit united Los Angeles hip-hop in July at the iconic Pop-Out concert.

Kendrick Lamar Aiming For Biggest Hip-Hop Album Streaming Debut Of 2024 Since Drake

Kendrick Lamar’s new album GNX has already been a massive success, especially when considering that it arrived without notice. The Compton rapper unleashed the project this Friday (November 22), taking supporters by surprise. It’s been rumored for months that he had something on the way, but regardless, nearly everyone was caught off guard.

According to Talk Of The Charts on X, the project is expected to have the second biggest hip-hop streaming debut in the U.S. this year, with roughly 350-400 million projected streams. This would put Kendrick just behind Drake, whose album For All The Dogs earned 514 million streams in its opening week. This is ironic considering their viral lyrical battle a few months back, which by most accounts, Kendrick won.

With that being said, Kendrick fans didn’t even know GNX was coming, whereas Drizzy spent plenty of time promoting FATD. Regardless, these are impressive accomplishments for both performers and certainly something to brag about. Kendrick’s unexpected drop has had social media users in shambles in recent days, as countless fans, critics, and peers give their reviews. This includes TDE’s Top Dawg, who took to his Instagram Story this weekend to issue a cryptic warning. “Dot is a dangerous man right now,” his post began. “Everything I thought he would be at 16 years old is here right now. Everybody stand down. I promise you.”

Lil Wayne, on the other hand, appeared confused that he got called out for his reaction to Kendrick’s upcoming Superbowl Halftime Show performance. “Man wtf I do?! I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head. Let’s not take kindness for weakness. Let this giant sleep. I beg u all. No one really wants destruction, not even me but I shall destroy if disturbed. On me. Love,” he wrote on X.

Lil Nas X Breaks His Silence Following Confusion Around His Adult Amazon Purchase

Lil Nas X has the internet talking again, and this time it’s for a recent purchase on Amazon. According to Uproxx, the rapper and singer seemed to have a major slip up by accidentally sharing a sex toy he bought. The tweet has since been deleted from his account, but pop culture news source Drop Pop was able to reshare it. It reads, “I just bought Realistic Thick Dildo Sex Toy, 7.16 Inch Safe Silicone Lifelike G Spot A**l Dildos with Strong Suction Cup for Hands-Free, Flexible Monster Stimulator Adult Toys for Women Men Couples on Amazon! Get your own here.” Just reading it back is extremely uncomfortable and undoubtedly would be an embarrassing moment for anyone to post something like this.

However, this is Lil Nas X we are talking about. After leaving many wondering if he was hacked or just made a mistake, he doubled down instead. “It wasn’t an accident,” the Georgia native replied to Drop Pop. At this point, you really can’t expect anything else from Lil Nas X. Most Twitter users weren’t fooled at all, with one adding, “Have you followed him at any point during his career? This is literally just his image. He does s*** like this all the time because it’s funny.”

Lil Nas X Clears Things Up

Others are a little more annoyed, with another writing, “Y’all still falling for this lil boy stunts? He’s trying to stay relevant. It wasn’t an accident. Duh!!!!😒” But some were getting a good laugh out of it, “It’s the long a** description of it that kills me.”

Despite some of the hate, if Lil Nas X is indeed using this as mini promotion for himself, it’s working. As it stands, he’s gearing up to drop his sophomore album DREAMBOY. It’s currently slated for a 2025 release and there are several singles that could land on the record. Some include “LIGHT AGAIN!” “need dat boy,” “J CHRIST,” and some Soundcloud releases as well.

On this date in 1993, legendary Corona, Queens crime rhyme king Kool G. Rap and his longtime partner DJ Polo dropped their third and final album together Live And Let Die on the Juice Crew’s famous Cold Chillin’ Records imprint.

Even though Warner Brothers refused to distribute G. Rap’s album due to the graphic cover art and lyrical content, Live And Let Die is still considered one of G. Rap’s best albums of his career. Produced primarily by Ice Cube’s Lench Mob’s Sir Jinx, the production had a constant West Coast feel, which was saturated with criminal content or “gangsta rap” during the early to mid-90s.

From robbing his Italian mob plug on “On The Run” to killing a drug partner who was delinquent in money owed “Ill Street Blues”, Live And Let Die focused on the intricacies of criminal life; the ups and the downs. The original 17-track album also featured a classic track called “Two To The Head” featuring Ice Cube, Bushwick Bill and Scarface. The 2008 bonus disc featured several remixes of “On The Run” and “Ill Street Blues.

Salute to G. Rap and Polo for this timeless and classic piece of Hip Hop history!

Today in Hip-Hop History: RZA Released His Debut Solo LP ‘Bobby Digital In Stereo’ 26 Years Ago

RZA as Bobby Digital in Stereo

bobby digital

On this day in Hip Hop history in 1998, the leader of the world-renowned Wu-Tang Clan released his first solo album Bobby Digital In Stereo.

This project came late in RZA’s career after the success of the Wu-Tang Clan had been plentiful. Serving as a soundtrack to an unreleased blaxploitation martial arts film by RZA titled Bobby Digital: The Digital Bullet, the project featured a new experimental sound that was not like the usual edgy street vibe that Wu-Tang solidified in the game.

The album went gold, selling 500,000 copies by 1999, and received mixed reviews from music critics. For this album, RZA utilized a different production and vocal style. Instead of the sample-heavy beats that made his production popular throughout the 90s on fellow Wu-Tang Clan members’ projects, this project was composed of mostly keyboard-driven sounds which Bob Digi eloquently called the “Digital Orchestra”.

The inspiration for this album came from RZA’s love for comic books and yearning to live out his childhood dream of becoming a superhero in the projects. The lyrics of the project follow a loose storyline of RZA’s endeavors as Bobby Digital. His goal as Bobby Digital was to enlighten the people of the project to the poisons of the hood that surrounded them every day.

He created Bobby Digital to personify his wild and crazy life before his musical success because, during the growth of the Wu-Tang Clan, RZA became a musical hermit and spent the majority of his time perfecting his craft and not out enjoying the spoils of his lifestyle. Bobby Digital served as a sort of cathartic alter ego through whom RZA could unleash a side of himself that had laid dormant during his rise to fame and search for enlightenment.

SZA Vowed To Release A New Album ‘Before The Year Is Over’ During Kai Cenat Stream Appearance

In 2022, SZA released her long-awaited sophomore album SOS. Since then the chart-topping body of work has continued to set or break records. But, the “Kill Bill” singer doesn’t plan on taking another five year gap between projects.

Yesterday (November 23), SZA teased the projected timeline of her next project. During her appearance on Kai Cenat‘s livestream, SZA
promised to release her highly anticipated follow-up (viewable here). When asked about when supporters should expect it, SZA replied: “It’ll be out before the year is over.”

The announcement shocked Kai, Lizzo (who was also a special guest on the stream), and users online. SZA didn’t share any further information about the forthcoming album. However, many believe the album in question Lana, the at one-time deluxe version of SOS.

Earlier in the month, SZA gave British Vogue an update about Lana.

“I think I am making music from a more beautiful place. From a more possible place versus a more angsty place,” she said. “I’m not identifying with my brokenness. It’s not my identity. It’s shit that happened to me. Yeah, I experienced cruelty. I have to put it down at some point. Piece by piece, my music is shifting because of that, the lighter I get.”

After supposedly scrapping a version of the project due to leaks, Lana has experience several setbacks. Fortunately for SZA supporters, she seemingly powered through.
