Hitmaking producer Metro Boomin’s recent successes with Future aren’t distracting him from his future plans. As the hip-hop world continues to reel in the wake of the chaos caused by We Don’t Trust and We Still Don’t Trust You, and prepares for Future and Metro’s We Trust You tour, the producer is maintaining his full docket of previously promised projects, including one that fans have been eagerly anticipation since its was first teased early last year.
Metro himself confirmed that his joint project with Atlanta rapper JID, which they originally announced last March, is “still a thing” in response to a concerned fan’s tweet. After @raptalksk wondered, “is that metro boomin & JID album still a thing?” Metro allayed their worries with a concise response: “very much so.”
The first word of the project came last year, when Metro tweeted, “Got a lot of new music but when me and @JIDsv drop .” Fans were hyped for a new JID song produced by Metro until JID himself corrected the speculation, revealing that they were actually working on a full album.
Since then, both artists have periodically updated the status of their plans but don’t expect this thing to drop tomorrow; JID teased a 10-song project titled Forever And A Day dropping before the joint project with Metro, while Metro said he plans to release at least three albums in 2024. While one of those could be his project with JID, Metro is also said to be heavily involved in ASAP Rocky’s upcoming album Don’t Be Dumb.
Still, that gives us even more great music to look forward to this year. Stay tuned.
Lyrical Lemonade is an influential force in the hip-hop community and their Summer Smash festival has become a must-attend event in its own right. Organizers just unveiled the 2024 lineup last night (April 25) and it’s another winner. The festival goes down from June 14 to 16 at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Illinois, just outside of downtown Chicago.
The headliners set to lead the fest are Travis Scott, Playboi Carti, and Chief Keef. Re: Scott, though, it’s not actually just him, as the performance slot is credited to Cactus Jack and will also feature Don Toliver, Sheck Wes, Chase B, Luxury Tax, SoFaygo, and WondaGurl.
Beyond that, the lineup also includes Lil Yachty (as his performance at the 2021 edition of the festival is having a meme moment), Big Sean, JID, Denzel Curry, Kodak Black, Destroy Lonely, Flo Milli, Lil Tecca, Ski Mask The Slump God, Cash Cobain, TiaCorine, Ken Carson, Waka Flocka Flame, YG Marley, Lil B, and more.

Three-day general admission tickets go on sale starting today, April 26, at 10 a.m. CT (11 a.m. ET, 8 a.m. PT) via the Summer Smash website. VIP, Diamond VIP, and Parking passes will also be available. Ticket prices will include “no bunk surprise fees,” per a press release.
Ciara has a particular goal in mind after giving birth to her fourth child: losing some weight, specifically a mission to drop 70 pounds. Of course, this isn’t necessary for her beauty or image, nor should weight be the standard of acceptance or self-worth for anyone, but if you have a goal in mind that you want to achieve for your own satisfaction and personal fulfillment, then who’s to stop you from chasing it? Moreover, the singer gave us an Instagram photo dump on Thursday (April 25), in which she included a snap of a scale that seemed to indicate her weight: 181.4 pounds. Furthermore, this falls in line with a previous post in which she wanted to hold herself to this standard and outlined this goal with her followers.
“Trying to lose 70lbs post baby, prepare for a show and tour while breastfeeding, and running my businesses…” Ciara captioned a post from about two weeks ago. “Shout out to all my mammas out there gettin in, I see you! ToughSh$t. #MambaMentality.” However, we don’t know if this 180-pound weight reflects her weight when she posted this, when she posted the photo dump, or both. As such, maybe the Texas native is farther along on this journey than we know. Either way, the family is undergoing a lot of exciting changes right now, so we’re sure she’s got her head up in any case.
Elsewhere, another superstar recently reflected on a brief, since-resolved, but nonetheless spicy beef that she had with Ciara all the way back in 2011. “Do you miss being on the Internet, like, really on the Internet?” Interview Magazine editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg asked Rihanna, for whom Ottenberg used to be a stylist. “Like, ‘Good luck booking that stage you speak of’ Internet? Because you were so good at it,” Ottenberg remarked, referencing the small spat between the musicians in which the Goodies star claimed she ignored her backstage at an event. “The troll in me, she had a time,” RiRi responded. “Unfortunately, you can’t take anything back from the Internet, so I will always have the reminders, but the best troll in me is the silent troll.”

For nearly two decades now, Pusha T has popped up every few years with a hard-hitting new record with incredible consistency. In the early days that was as part of rap duo Clipse, who he formed alongside his brother No Malice. Since then he split off as a solo artist where he’s worked pretty extensively with Kanye West across the past decade-plus. His last album was 2022’s It’s Almost Dry. The project featured West as well as Pharrell, Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, Nigo, Labrinth, Clipse, Don Toliver, and Lil Uzi Vert. Fans looking forward to his next drop got some exciting news today.
During an interview with Complex Push made a big promise. He was asked if either a new solo album or a new Clipse album would be dropping this year. He responded with sure words. “I would 100% bet that you’re going to get new music from one of those entities that you just named. It’s going to be a win-win situation,” Push replied. Despite appearing on a number of features since the release of It’s Almost Dry he hasn’t released any new singles of his own. Last month, Drake got caught up in the biggest rap beef of the year when Kendrick Lamar called him out on “Like That.” That got people wondering whether or not Pusha T would weigh in, as he and Drake once notably beefed with each other resulting in Push’s legendary “Story Of Adidion” track. Gervonta “Tank” Davis and Floyd Mayweather seem to have some new beef between them. In the past, Davis was a sort of protege to Mayweather, with the two having a mentor-mentee relationship. Their relationship started to fracture after Tank started winning titles back in 2017. In 2022, Davis left Mayweather’s fight promotion company, striking out on his own. During Tank’s training for his fight against Ryan Garcia, he alleged that Mayweather kicked him out of his gym. he asserted that Mayweather attempted to keep him from training for the fight effectively. Now Tank has responded to a recent Mayweather video, officially calling the boxing legend out.
This morning, Tank responded to Mayweather with some pointed words. Floyd Mayweather is no stranger to beef. This week, he had a heated argument with Devin Haney’s father. Mayweather came under fire from Haney’s camp after he called and congratulated Ryan Garcia on his win over Devin Haney. Haney’s dad called him out for a lack of loyalty. Gervonta Davis has now called out Floyd and has alleged similar instances of disloyalty that he has shown over the years.
In the clip, Gervonta Davis responded to Floyd made a rant about young fighters. Mayweather said, “A lot of times what these fighters are looking at – they’re looking Floyd with the cars, they’re looking at Floyd being flashy.” he continued, “Man, listen, I made so many sacrifices. Y’all are looking at the end results, and [when I was] champion having hundreds of millions in the bank, I still was on my grind in that gym.” Floyd’s comments are pointed directly at some young fighters, and Davis believes the shots were specifically about him.
Gervonta Davis responded by bringing up a rumor that has been circling around about Mayweather. he said in his response, “N***a says all this bulls***, but [he’s] in Dubai and can’t leave because he’s been taking n***as’ money and not doing what they paid him to do. N***a a f***ing hater.” Tank is certain Mayweather is ducking fighters that he owes money to, which is why he has been in Dubai. Overall, the drama in the boxing game is heating up.

However, thanks to a Joe Budden Podcast episode, the public have begun to wonder a little bit more about Larry Jackson and his music company, gamma.
Larry Jackson’s career is marked by significant contributions to the music industry, particularly during his tenure at Apple Music. As the former Global Creative Director of the music streaming app, Jackson was instrumental in curating exclusive content and fostering relationships with top-tier artists. Specifically, he was a top exec at Apple Music just around the time it became the dominant streaming service it is today. One of the ways he was successful in transforming Apple Music into a major streaming hub was by enlisting Drake and Taylor Swift for Apple Music’s advertising campaigns. He also helped negotiate the major deal that allowed Apple Music an exclusive window to stream Drake’s 2016 album, Views. However, Swift would later challenge Apple’s royalty policies during the launch of the music service, and this led to Apple agreeing to provide full royalties to rights holders throughout its free trial period.
Jackson had also held roles at RCA, J Records, and Interscope in the past. However, it was his time at Apple that built his extensive network. Today, he can boast of close ties with several music industry giants. These include Kanye West, Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, and of course, Drake. In 2023, Larry Jackson launched a new company named Gamma, a modern media and technology enterprise. Gamma’s co-founders are Jackson and former Interscope CFO, Ike Youssef. The company’s LinkedIn describes it as “a modern media and technology enterprise designed to revolutionize how artist-entrepreneurs create, distribute, and monetize their content.” Interestingly, the company also receives financial backing from larger entities like Eldridge Industries, A24, and even Apple.
The company offers creative and business services across all artistic and commercial touchpoints. These include: content creation, distribution, and direct-to-consumer products. Gamma’s roster also boasts influential creators like Usher, Rick Ross, Snoop Dogg, and French Montana. Altogether, the company’s capabilities claim to oversee over 10,000 releases monthly through its distribution platform, Vydia. Gamma also has a stake in the Death Row Records catalog.

Drake’s relationship with Larry Jackson dates back to their collaboration at Apple Music, where Jackson signed deals for exclusive content, including Drake’s OVO Sound Radio. This partnership likely led to the two developing a closer relationship. Drake even referenced Jackson in his lyrics on “Family Feud” with Lil Wayne, which allegedly motivated Jackson to start Gamma. Therefore, it’s not far-fetched that this relationship may have sparked a desire for a deeper involvement in the business side of music for Drake. This is why Joe Budden’s comments haven’t gone unnoticed. As the ongoing rap battle between Drake and his counterparts continues, Budden alluded to Drake’s likely co-ownership of Gamma fueling conflicts with other rappers who have released music through the company. These include Rick Ross, and French Montana.
Is Corporate Drake The Real Enemy?
Drake has a history of supporting emerging artists. Now, Budden’s speculations have led many to believe that Drake’s endorsements are not just acts of mentorship, but strategic business moves. This implies that Drake also receives hefty financial benefits from promoting rising artists. The theory also gains traction considering Drake’s business acumen and previous ventures in the music industry. Nowadays, the lines between “support,” and “investment” are becoming more blurred as time goes by. Nonetheless, if Drake does own a part of Gamma, it could explain the tension with other artists like Rick Ross.
Both Rick Ross and Kendrick Lamar have been openly involved in the recent rap beef with Drake. On “Push Ups,” his diss track against Kendrick and everyone else gunning for him, Drake demands him to “Drop & Give Me 50,” and makes more references to a number of his past failed business deals. Joe Budden suggests these bars allude to Drake’s alleged stake in Lamar’s work. Meanwhile, on Rick Ross’ “Champagne Moments,” Ross accuses Drake of sending a cease-and-desist letter to French Montana due to an issue with a song called “Splash Brothers.” The track was initially supposed to feature both Drake and Ross, but his verse was ultimately scrapped from French Montana’s album and replaced with Lil Wayne.
There is no concrete evidence to confirm Drake’s ownership of Gamma. However, Larry Jackson disclosed that Drake did send the cease-and-desist, but he believed it was a joke at the time. Nonetheless, Drake’s support for younger artists could simply be a gesture of goodwill, a way to give back to an industry that has brought him immense success. Without solid proof, the ownership theory remains speculative at best and Rick Ross previously shut down these rumors.
Larry Jackson got married in June 2023 to Stephanie Shepherd, a former assistant to Kim Kardashian, and co-founder of the non-profit Future Earth. The pair met while Jackson worked as Kanye West’s manager during the rapper’s The Life Of Pablo tour. The wedding featured guests like Justin and Hailey Bieber, Naomi Campbell, Clive Davis, Kris Jenner, and the Kardashians. Shepherd has also pursued acting and modeling. The event also included performances by Swizz Beats, Timbaland and the attendance of music industry moguls.
Joe Budden has had fallingouts with a lot of people over the years. Overall, Budden is someone who can be fairly firm on his positions, and not everyone likes that very much. This is especially true as it pertains to the business side of things. A few years ago, he ended up breaking ties with co-hosts Rory & Mal, who went on to start their own podcast. Their tensions came amid Budden’s anger with his podcast’s Spotify deal, and the subsequent move to Patreon. However, it seems like both sides have come out on top with their own respective successes.
That said, Joe Budden was recently doing a “Confessions” segment for his podcast network. Below, you can see that he was asked about whether or not he misses his former co-hosts. As it turns out, he does, but in a conditional sense. He notes that they had some amazing times together, and when things were good, they were truly great. However, at this point, he has no interest in any sort of reconciliation. Throughout that breakup, he learned a lot about business, and just feels like that ship has sailed.
On the flip side of this, Joe did explain just how much he appreciates the great moments he had with Rory & Mal on his show. Some of the most iconic podcast moments were shared with those two. In fact, in the eyes of many fans, Rory & Mal were part of the golden age of the podcast. The falling out is definitely unfortunately, although we are glad to see both parties still thriving.

Former Giants offensive tackle Korey Cunningham was found dead in his New Jersey home on Thursday. Additionally, Cunningham also played for the Cardinals and Patriots. At only 28, the death is a tragic development. The morning after the NFL Draft’s first round, the NYG announced their sadness for the loss of their former player on Friday. Cunningham was found deceased in his New Jersey home around 3:30 PM on Thursday. The cause of his death was not disclosed by the Giants. New Jersey Police are investigating.
The Cincinnati Bearcat was selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the seventh round of the 2018 NFL Draft. Prior to joining the Giants in 2021, he had played for a while with the New England Patriots. Despite having six starts in his 31 career games, he struggled with foot problems all throughout his playing career. Additionally, in 2022, he underwent surgery while still a rookie with the Cardinals and again with the Giants. Ultimately, he did not play any more games after.

We are saddened to hear of the passing of Korey Cunningham,” the New York Giants said in their statement this morning. “He was a vital part of the spirit and camaraderie of the locker room. Our thoughts are with Korey’s family, friends and teammates.” The 311-pound, 6-foot-6 offensive lineman was well-known for his infectious laugh and positive outlook on life. Additionally, he was a team favorite during his time with the Giants. Former teammates like Saquon Barkley expressed their sadness over Cunningham’s tragic passing.
His Giants teammate safety Jason Pinnock said on Instagram, “This one hurt! Regardless of what you was going through you wore the biggest smile!” Pinnock continued, “You were the first person to come help me move when I was getting settled at NYG. Middle of camp & you finding to be on team & learn new playbook, you was the first at my house ready! Take care of yourselves & call your friends ppl. I love you brudda!” Cunnigham will certainly be missed. Moreover, the cause of death is currently undisclosed. Also of note, the New Jersey police reportedly had to force their way into Cunningham’s home to get to him. Overall, the news of Cunningham’s passing is tragic; RIP.
