Usher Celebrates Wife Jennifer During Date Night at New York Benefit Event

Usher Celebrates Wife Jennifer During Date Night at New York Benefit Event

Usher and his wife, Jennifer Goicoechea Raymond, enjoyed a date night on June 11 at the Apollo Spring Benefit 2024, where the R&B legend, 45, was honored with the Icon Award. It’s good to see Usher out and about, celebrating his better half! The couple, who married in February, arrived hand-in-hand and posed for photos on the red carpet. Usher wore a stylish burgundy suit with flared pants, while Jennifer, 40, donned a black mini dress with a black and white patterned shirt and carried a sparkling black and silver purse.

Get this: Usher and Jennifer have two children together: daughter Sovereign Bo, 3, and son Sire Castrello, 2. Usher also has two sons, Usher “Cinco” Raymond V, 16, and Naviyd Ely, 15, with his ex-wife Tameka Foster.

He stood on business when it came to celebrating Jennifer. During his acceptance speech, Usher thanked his supporters and gave a heartfelt shoutout to his wife. “Last and most certainly not least, without your love, passion, support to my best friend, Jennifer Raymond. I love you baby,” he said. “My wife, who is in the audience tonight. Thank you for your support and I’m so happy that we could do this together. Mother’s Days are so awesome. I’m hoping that y’all going to hook me up for Father’s Day.”

Okay, Usher was announced as one of the honorees in April, stating, “It’s an honor to be receiving this award from such an iconic and historic cultural institution in New York City – one that has hosted and paved the way for so many prominent people. I’m humbled to be this year’s recipient and look forward to seeing everyone soon.”

What’s cool is the Apollo celebration featured performances from Jordin Sparks, Johnny Gill, and others. Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, a 12-time Grammy winner, was honored with the inaugural Legacy Award and inducted into The Apollo’s Walk of Fame the day before.

Usher’s Icon Award precedes another significant accolade: he is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2024 BET Awards on June 30. This honor has previously been awarded to legends like Prince, Whitney Houston, Queen Latifah, and Lionel Richie, celebrating Usher’s “ever-growing musical legacy” in an already action-packed year.

WATCH: Trailer for 50 Cent Executive Produced True Crime Doc ‘TikTok Star Murders’ From Peacock

Trailer for 50 Cent Executive Produced True Crime Doc ‘TikTok Star Murders’ From Peacock

Streamer Peacock just released the new trailer for the true crime documentary “TikTok Star Murders,” which 50 Cent executive produced.

The documentary will unpack the relationship between TikTok personality Ali Abulaban and his wife Ana, which, on the surface, seemed great but ultimately took a deadly turn for the worse.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Ali and Ana Abulaban have it all — great jobs, a beautiful young daughter and the promise of stardom. A TikTok creator who gained popularity under the username JinnKid in late 2019, Ali is known for his viral Skyrim and Scarface comedic impressions, often featuring his beautiful wife, Ana. To his fans, Ali is talented, funny, charismatic and has a picture-perfect relationship with the modelesque Ana. They seemingly have it all, but not everything online is as it seems. Under the surface is a relationship falling apart, full of domestic violence, and Ali is filming it — disturbing never-before-seen footage of private fights from his cell phone. Narcissism, addiction and crippling jealousy all play a role in Ali’s desire for control and fame, while Ana seeks independence and a happy life for her and her daughter. The relationship disintegrates, and in October of 2021, the abuse takes a deadly turn that leaves two people dead, and another facing a lifetime behind bars.

The seemingly compelling documentary will employ private, never-before-aired cellphone footage and audio to trace how the couple’s relationship led to murder. The doc includes first-time interviews with the couple’s close friends and family, commentary from reporter Kelsey Christensen, who interviewed Ali upon his arrest, and insights from a clinical forensic psychologist.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is executive producing alongside Zak Weisfeld, Libby Richman, Elizabeth Fisher, and George Plamondon, who will serve as the showrunner.

“TikTok Star Murders” is set to premiere on June 25.

Action Bronson Keeps It Mellow On Organ-Heavy Single “Sega”

Action Bronson knows how to have fun. Every new single and album comes with the rapper’s trademark sense of humor. A sense of humor typified by obscure movie references, old school sports references, and a bunch of culinary references that will go over fans’ heads. A Bronson verse is an adventure, and “Sega” is a prime example. The single off the rapper’s upcoming album, Johan Sebastian Bachlava the Doctor, is brief, moody, and eminently listenable.

The most notable aspect of “Sega” is the instrumental. One might assume from the title that Bronson would spit over a glitchy, video-game inspired beat, but “Sega” opts for a moody vibe complete with an old school organ. The organ is the most prominent sound here, and it makes the whole track sound like Action Bronson is rapping in a haunted house from Scooby Doo. The bars are equally outlandish. There are references to wrestler Kurt Engle, silver bullets and Miles Davis playing the trumpet. It’s random fun, with the rapper’s undeniable charisma giving each verse their shape. “Sega” lacks the punchiness of the album’s first single, “Nourish a Thug,” but it’s another satisfying taste of what’s to come.

Brian Windhorst’s Luka Doncic Rant Is Even Better Over The ‘Meet The Grahams’ Beat

Game 3 between the Mavericks and Celtics saw Dallas run out to a big early lead, but give it all back almost as quickly, before turning into a very entertaining first half dogfight. The first half was the first time all series both Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving were playing well offensively at the same time and Dallas suddenly had some life.

However, the third quarter brought all of that to a halt as the Celtics went on an incredible run to take a 15-point lead to the fourth quarter, where they’d go up by as many as 21, and the worst habits of the Mavs started to creep back in. Doncic, in particular, was dreadful on defense and became heavily engaged with the officials, seemingly to the detriment of his game and the Mavericks. That reached its zenith in the fourth quarter when, after clawing back to within three, Doncic picked up his fifth and sixth fouls in quick succession defending Jaylen Brown, fouling out with just over four minutes to play.

Without him, the Mavs couldn’t complete the comeback and fell behind 0-3, a deficit no team’s ever recovered from in the NBA Playoffs. After the game, ESPN’s Brian Windhorst joined Scott Van Pelt for SportsCenter and didn’t hold back on Doncic, calling out his terrible defensive effort and constant complaining about the refs in an instant classic sports media rant.

On it’s own, it was good, but it deserved the diss track treatment, so behold, Brian Windhorst x Kendrick Lamar’s “Meet The Grahams”.

If you’d prefer, there’s also a “Not Like Us” version.

Windy typically saves this kind of heat for the Hoop Collective pod, but this time he blessed us with an incredible rant on television, and Kendrick’s diss track instrumentals from Alchemist and Mustard offer a timely soundtrack for them.

Young Thug’s Dad Was Gunna’s Biggest Fan At His ‘The Bittersweet Tour’ Finale In Atlanta

Young Thug’s father, Jeffrey Williams Sr., has repeatedly defended Gunna against allegations that he was a snitch related to the ongoing YSL Racketeer Influenced And Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) trial. Last December, Williams Sr. went so far as to tell Infamous Sylvia, “[Lil Baby] need to shut the f*ck up, ’cause he don’t know what’s going on.”

In case it were still in question, Williams Sr. really rides for Gunna, as evidenced by his front-row presence at Gunna’s The Bittersweet Tour finale at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia on Tuesday night, June 11.

A fan-taken video circulated by Complex on X (formerly Twitter) showed Williams Sr. dancing along to Gunna performing “Ski,” a Gunna and Young Thug song from 2021’s Slime Language 2. Complex also posted a photo (taken by Atlanta’s Royal Photography) of Gunna and Williams Sr. posing while doing the YSL nose-wipe.

In May 2022, Gunna and Young Thug were among 28 YSL members arrested and charged in a 56-count indictment. On December 14, 2022, Gunna was released from prison after he “entered a negotiated plea, known as an Alford plea, in which a defendant doesn’t admit he committed the crime but acknowledges that it is in his best interest to plead guilty,” as reported by WSB-TV at the time.

Afterward, Gunna was subject to criticism for “snitching” on Young Thug and other YSL defendants. Gunna denied the allegations with “I Was Just Thinking” last June.

Young Thug is currently facing nine charges and standing trial in Fulton County.

Will Smith And Martin Lawrence Reveal Their G.O.A.T. Rappers

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are having a moment. Three decades after they were two of the biggest stars on television, they’re proving themselves to be even bigger draws as movie stars. Bad Boys: Ride or Die has killed at the box office, and part of the reason why is the promo tour Smith and Lawrence are on. They’re everywhere, sharing anecdotes about their friendship and their seemingly bulletproof franchise. The Smith and Lawrence convo we didn’t expect, however, was who the greatest rapper of all time is.

Smith and Lawrence recently went on the YouTube series GOAT Talk to discuss, well GOAT topics. Given the impact that both of them have had on hip-hop culture, it was only a matter of time before they were hit with the “GOAT rapper” question. Their answers did not disappoint. Martin Lawrence decided to go with a generational peer and a close personal friend. “I would have to say Snoop Dogg for me,” he noted. “Because Snoop’s always come through for me. He’s done my show and has always been excellent. And he’s a good friend of mine.” Both Lawrence and Snoop Dogg appeared in the 2019 film The Beach Bum. The latter also made a cameo on a 1994 episode of Martin.

Will Smith Struggled To Pick Between Three Rappers

Will Smith’s answer was more intriguing. He rose to fame as a rapper. He was the first rapper to win a Grammy, in fact, so he’s technically a GOAT candidate himself. Rest assured, however, the actor didn’t pick himself. He decided to go old school with his picks. “I think that in terms of changing the game,” he posited. “Rakim.” Will Smith was unable to limit his answer to one, though. He mentioned two other men who shaped his love for the genre. “The combination of Melle Mel and Grandmaster Caz,” he explained. “In terms of me developing my love for hip-hop.” The Caz shout out is timely, given that Smith recently encountered the rapper during a radio interview.

Smith gushed about Grandmaster Caz during his appearance on Sway In the Morning. He told the host that he modeled his rhyming style after the Cold Crush legend. In the middle of his interview, Caz walks in the room and leaves the Oscar winner starstruck. Smith let out a yell of surprise before hyping up the rapper to the rest of the room. “Ladies and gentleman,” he said. “The full, complete and total inspiration for the Fresh Prince: Grandmaster Caz.” Smith might’ve said Rakim first, but this encounter tips the scale in Caz’s favor.
