Former XXL Freshmen Chika And Rico Nasty Congratulate The Women Of The 2021 Class

For the last decade, the hip-hop magazine XXL dropped their Freshman list — their picks of the 11 names that were on the rise in the genre. This year’s list is a little different, as it includes the most women ever for a new class. Four female rappers — Flo Milli, Coi Leray, Lakeyah, and Rubi Rose — can be found on the 2021 iteration. Upon hearing the news, former XXL Freshman ladies Chika and Rico Nasty hopped on social media to show the newbies some love.

“Big Congrats to @_FloMilli @RubixxRose for making the @XXL list!!!” Rico wrote in a tweet. “Well deserved.” Flo Milli replied, “Thank you Rico, love you !” Chika gave a shoutout to Flo Milli as she’s a fellow Alabama rapper. “Congratulations @_FloMilli!” she wrote before adding, “Alabama royalty.”

As for the rest of the 2021 XXL Freshman class, Uproxx favorites like Blxst, DDG, and Pooh Shiesty can be found on the list. Other highlights include 42 Dugg, Toosii, Iann Dior, and Morray also appeared.

On a more recent note, Chika is just months removed from her Once Upon A Time EP while Rico Nasty found herself alongside Juicy J and Jasiah on a pair of tracks.

Some artists covered here are Warner Music artists. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group

Taco Bell Gives Out Free Food For Vaccinated Customers

The attempts to entice unvaccinated citizens to bite the bullet have expanded with yet another approach. Taco Bell now sits among the likes of Krispy Kreme’s free donut deal and Washington’s free pre-roll partnership for those that opt to get the vaccine.

Taco Bell showed public support for the vaccine with an announcement last week that on June 15, all customers who showed a vaccination card at a California location would receive a free Doritos Locos Taco.

CEO of the fast-food giant Mark Kingsaid stated, “It’s been a tough year, and we are all ready to put COVID-19 behind us, we are thrilled to do our part and give back to our home state with something everyone knows and loves to celebrate those who have made the decision to get vaccinated.”

In the Golden State, 70 percent of the population is vaccinated already. The Taco Bell promotion is part of a ‘Vax for the Win’ campaign aimed at convincing the remaining 30 percent to get the vaccine. California Chipotle locations also offered a similar deal on Wednesday, offering a free queso blanco in exchange for showing a vaccine card, but the food isn’t where it ends. ‘Vax for the Win’ is a full sweepstakes program with prizes as large as tickets to a Lakers Game or a vacation to Disneyland.

Soulja Boy Goes After Hitmaka, Accuses Producer Of Stealing Beats

It’s been a busy day for Soulja Boy as he’s calling people to the carpet. He’s recently made headlines due to his back and forth banter with Bow Wow as the rappers prepare for their appearance on Verzuz, but on Wednesday (June 16), Soulja had a bone to pick with a few people. The “I Did It First” icon exploded on Instagram Live as he went after Charlamagne Tha God after The Breakfast Club host remarked that Soulja wasn’t really from Atlanta, causing the rapper to put Charlamagne in his place.

The rants weren’t over, because after Akademiks reposted the clip, Hitmaka slid in the comments showing that he was laughing, and Soulja didn’t appreciate it. “Yung Berg, you is a b*tch, boy,” said Soulja. “Go get your chain back. Didn’t I take yo chain a long time ago? That Transformers chain? You ain’t neva get it back?” He then brought up the previous altercations involving Hitmaka being assaulted.

“P*ssy ass n*gga don’t never be under no f*ckin’ comments under Akademiks post leaving no f*ckin’ laughing emojis,” Soulja added. “You lame!… Stealing beats, you don’t make beats for real. Stick to gettin’ n*ggas to makin’ beats for you and you sell them to other artists and act like you made it.”

Soulja told Hitmaka to “keep my name out your mouth,” adding, “You’ll never make a hit by yourself like ‘She Make It Clap.’ Solo that’ll go number one on the Billboard. You’ll never write and produce a record at sixteen that go platinum, that go triple platinum, that go viral. P*ssy ass n*gga.”

That was just the tip of the iceberg. Swipe below to check out Soulja Boy’s angry message to Hitmaka.

Blueface Opens A Soul Food Restaurant

From rapping to reality show production to restaurant opening. What can’t Blueface do? With the launch of his new restaurant Blue’s Fish & Soul, it looks as if the rapper seeks to extend his credentials even further.

On Tuesday, June 15th, Blueface opened his soul food restaurant in Santa Clarita, California. He posted a guided tour of the establishment on his IG page to give viewers a peek at the planned menu — featuring food cooked up by his mother. In the clip, he says “I am happy to let y’all know that I am the new proud owner of SVC Fish Market in the Santa Clarita Valley. It’s the only place where you can come and get some soul food in this whole entire valley.”

The SVC Fish Market is just one of Blueface’s many endeavors. Earlier this year, the “Thotiana” rapper created his own spinoff of Oxygen’s The Bad Girls Club titled Blue Girls Club, which was in no way affiliated with the original Oxygen productions. He released this version through his OnlyFans page.

In other related news, he was previously spotted getting cozy with Coi Leray at Herald’s Chicken in Hollywood. Rumors surrounding the potential romance have fizzled out. Since then, Leray has been dating someone else, who Blueface denies taking subliminal shots at on Twitter.

Will you eat at Blueface’s new restaurant? Sound off in the comments below.

Polo G & DaBaby Flaunt Their “Party Lyfe” In “Hall Of Fame” Visual

As Hall of Fame continues to receive applause from Hip Hop fans, Polo G adds to the hype around his recently released record with another visual. The album is stacked with features that include looks from Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, Young Thug, Rod Wave, Roddy Ricch, and DaBaby—the latter of which assisted Polo G on “Party Lyfe.”

The pair of rappers surfaced on Wednesday (June 16) with the music video to their collaboration and they stayed true to the track’s title. If there’s anyone who knows how to get a party started it’s music artists, especially rappers, and the visual shows Polo G and DaBaby surrounded by half-naked models as they toast to the good life.

Director ARRAD, who also was responsible for helming the visual for “RAPSTAR,” reunited with Polo G for this one, as well. If you haven’t already, make sure to stream Hall of Fame in its entirety after checking out what Polo and DaBaby have to offer above.

Spanish Man Sentenced For Murdering & Eating His Mother

A Spanish man by the name of Alberto Sánchez Gómez received sentencing Wednesday for killing his mother and subsequently eating her corpse in 2019. According to BBC, Gómez was first arrested in February of 2019 after police discovered his mother’s body parts spread throughout her apartment in Madrid.

Gómez will be serving 15 years in prison for his mother’s murder, and five additional months on top for the desecration of her corpse. He allegedly cut his mother, Maria Soledad Gómez, into a thousand pieces and ate the body parts while feeding some to his pet dog. Along with his sentenced prison time, Gómez was ordered to pay €60,000 – about $72,000 in USD – to his brother for the crime inflicted on their family.

Police investigated the mother’s home in February 2019 in eastern Madrid after concerns about her welfare were raised by a friend of the family. Maria was in her 60s at the time of her death, and BBC reported that Alberto strangled her during a dispute according to a statement made during the trial. Over the following two weeks after the dispute, Alberto consumed some of his mother’s body parts – some of which were found in plastic containers – and attempting to hide other parts before eventually being discovered and arrested by Spanish police.

Media outlets in Spain alleged that Alberto was known to the police because of prior violence against his mother, and a restraining order was breached at the time of his arrest. The court ultimately rejected his arguments that he had experienced a psychotic episode at the time of his mother’s killing, and sentenced him to a 15-year term.

Wendy Williams Speaks On Jay-Z & Foxy Brown Rumors: “She Hit It Before Beyoncé”

For decades, there have been rumors about Jay-Z and Foxy Brown. The New York rappers collaborated way back when in the 1990s and there was gossip that they crossed the line from friendship to lovers, and on the most recent episode of her talk show, Wendy Williams re-fueled the fire. We recently reported that Foxy Brown had partnered with Kim Osorio to pen an autobiography due out sometime this year and

“I remember, right, when Foxy and Jay-Z had ‘I’ll Be,'” Williams said of the rappers’ 1996 classic.

“Jay-Z was standing in the corner, ringing his hands talkin’a bout, ‘Okay, what do I do next?’ All that. This was allegedly a romantical thing. It’s alright…I’ll say ‘alleged,’ you know we know. Yeah, she hit it before Beyoncé. Allegedly!”

Back in 2019, Dame Dash was questioned by Nick Cannon about Jay’s alleged relationship with Foxy when she was underage. Dame seemed to dodge the question. “I wasn’t paying attention to Foxy Brown … I didn’t sign Foxy Brown,” Dash said at the time.  “It sounds like you have a question for Jay. Ask him… You keep asking me questions y’all want to ask him ’cause he ain’t here. Ask him, I ain’t got sh*t to do with that and I don’t even know nothing about that.”

“Gorilla Glue Girl” Tessica Brown Launches Haircare Line

Tessica Brown took to social media back in February to share her testimonial against using the adhesive Gorilla Glue for one’s hair. Social media erupted with loud reactions of disbelief including a tweet from Chance the Rapper.

‘Gorilla Glue Girl’ sustained her newfound social media clout by posting frequent updates on the status of her hair for her 675,000 Instagram followers. After her health was back intact just ten days after her initial video, Tessica turned her attention to making her fifteen minutes of fame last.

In March, Tessica announced she was expecting a baby and shared her struggles with a pregnancy condition throughout the recent months. Nevertheless, Tessica seems to remain in high spirits, posting dancing TikToks and storytimes to generate exposure for her page.

The big question around the 40-year-old’s decision to use a construction product in place of hairspray was “Why?” —  and now she has provided a possible answer.

The ‘Forever Hair’ brand  — a name play on her former semi-permanent hairdo — launched on Wednesday. Tessica claims her products were perfect for healing her head damaged from Gorilla Glue’s harmful ingredients. On her Instagram story, she shows off her newly-grown-in hair for the first time on her page, crediting all the growth to ‘Forever Hair’ products. The first product lineup includes a hair growth oil, edge control, and the product that she ironically needed herself, hairspray.

The products are available for sale here.
