Kendrick Lamar Is Accused Of Plagiarizing New Jersey Rapper AK’s Video Concept In ‘The Heart Part 5’

While Kendrick Lamar‘s surprise release of “The Heart Part 5” caused excitement for many fans all over the internet this past weekend, one person, in particular, feels slighted by the video: New Jersey rapper AK is accusing the Damn artist of stealing the deepfake concept from his 2020 video “Family Tree.”

Much like “The Heart Part 5,” “Family Tree” features AK morphing his face into Eminem, Snoop Dogg, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, and coincidentally, Lamar himself. In Lamar’s video, he morphs into Will Smith, Jussie Smollett, Kobe Bryant and Nipsey Hussle. AK stated in a Monday morning Instagram video, “Maybe I’m fooling myself for thinking that Kendrick saw my video and was like, ‘Damn, that’s so good that I want to do it myself.’”

He continued, “I was under Universal; he is under Universal. I did that video in 2020 with Universal. Obviously, the song didn’t do as good as if Kendrick was to do it, but the concept was so sick and I f*cking don’t know, but it’s the same exact thing — it’s a backdrop, it’s him in front of it, it’s one take.”

AK closed the video by speaking on the challenges independent artists face, as many have come out over the years saying bigger acts have stolen their ideas as well. Kendrick Lamar likely won’t respond to the allegations, but his final TDE album Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers does release this Friday, May 13.

YG’s Criminal Case For Alleged Robbery Dismissed After Settling Out Of Court

The criminal case against YG for an alleged robbery in Las Vegas has been dismissed after the rapper recently settled out of court with the victim. The man claimed that YG had yanked his chain off of him at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino and took off with a diamond-laced pendant.

YG’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, remarked to TMZ: “Justice was served expeditiously, we would’ve had the same result if the case went to trial.”

YG has maintained that he never stole the man’s necklace since the incident.

Earlier this year, prosecutors in Los Angeles declined to file charges regarding the incident, believing there not to be enough evidence to convict YG.

“Not enough evidence of what defendant did to aid and abet the crime,” read the court documents. “Presence during the crime alone is not sufficient.”

After the initial arrest in 2020, YG told The Morning Hustle that he believes the L.A.P.D. holds a grudge against him for his previous gang lifestyle.

“I been through a lot of other stuff with the police, but I’m from the streets though, you feel me?” he added. “So it’s like I got a target on my back already from that and I know that, so it ain’t really nothing to talk about. Because it’s like when you’re from a certain area, the police gon’ fuck with you.”

Dave Chappelle’s Netflix Show Security Also Worked Travis Scott’s Tragic Astroworld Festival: Report

Dave Chappelle’s attack at the Netflix Is a Joke comedy festival and the tragedy that unfolded at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival late last year may seem to be two completely unrelated events, but as it turns out, new reports reveal that the same security company was commissioned to work both of them, raising some eyebrows.

According to a report from Buzzfeed News, Contemporary Services Corporation – one of the continent’s largest event security firms – has been hit with scrutiny for allowing Isaiah Lee to assault the comedian at the Hollywood Bowl just months after they were condemned for poor protocol at the Houston event, where 10 people ultimately died.

Comedian Tehran Von Ghasri, who was in attendance at the Netflix event, told Buzzfeed that a CSC guard chose to ignore his warning that “a man with a backpack and wearing a hood breached a barrier.”

“She shrugged me off,” Ghasri said of his interaction with the employee. “And within a minute, [Lee] had hoisted himself onstage and knocked Chappelle down.”

An employee told the publication firsthand that they didn’t go through much of a hiring process, and that speediness was favoured over following safety protocols. “We were told there was going to be a crowd and to get them in as fast as possible,” the anonymous source shared.

“There were no details on what that meant or how to do it – just get them in as fast as possible.”

On top of their sloppy work earlier this month and at Astroworld, the CSC was also involved with the Once Upon a Time in L.A. Festival, where Drakeo the Ruler was tragically stabbed to death, as well as the 2017 Route 91 Harvest Festival in Las Vegas, where 58 people were killed after a shooter opened fire from the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel.

Just a few days ago, Chappelle’s assailant plead not guilty in court and received a set bail of $30K – read more about that here, and tap back in with HNHH later for more pop culture news updates.

It wasn’t the first night that Drake has taken a loss after sharing his bets publically. He also lost $275,000 betting on Jorge Masvidal to beat Colby Covington in UFC 272. After the fight, Covington called out Drake for his pick.

“Let’s talk about all the money that Drake lost tonight,” Covington said. “He needs to go back to, you know, selling those shitty albums to get back the money. He should have went to America’s Pick of the Week by mybookie[.ag]. I tried to give the people the pick of the week. I’m America’s champ, and I was America’s pick of the week. Drake, you suck at sports betting. Go back to your shitty little albums and rapping.”

Additionally, Drake has lost $100,000 betting on Duke to beat North Carolina in their Final Four matchup in the NCAA Tournament.

It hasn’t been all losses, however. In February, he raked in over $1 million in bets on the Super Bowl.

Check out the details of Drake’s latest bet below.

Stephen A. Smith Offers Some Advice To Ja Morant

Ja Morant is one of the most fun players to watch in the entire league. He is playing all over the floor and his dunks are truly special. Unfortunately, the way he plays can lead to a ton of injuries, as we have seen throughout this season. In fact, Morant injured his knee just a couple of nights ago as the Grizzlies took on the Golden State Warriors in Game 3 of their second round series.

It was a pretty bad injury that could force Ja to miss the game tonight. If he does miss Game 4, then the Grizzlies season could be coming to an end much quicker than originally anticipated.

On First Take today, Stephen A. Smith revealed that he is actually quite worried about Morant due to his style. In the eyes of the analyst, Morant needs to slow down, otherwise, his career could come to an end very soon.

“Some of those things that Ja Morant do, as much as we all ‘ooh and ahhh’ over it, it’s not good for his long-term career,” Smith said. “When I see a young guy with knee injuries, I get worried.”

This is pretty sage advice considering what we saw with Derrick Rose a decade ago. That was truly a tragic “what could have been” and we certainly don’t want that happening to Morant.
