BLACK STAR (yasiin bey and Talib Kweli) Announce ‘No Fear of Time’ Vinyl & CD Release

Today, Black Star announces the physical release of their 2022 sophomore album No Fear of Time, available on vinyl and CD for the first time ever, November 22nd via Rhymesayers Entertainment. Pre-order available at blackstarkeepshining.com.

“The initial release of this album in itself was an artistic statement,” stated Rhymesayers CEO Siddiq Sayers. “To be bold enough to bring this highly anticipated album to fans in a non-traditional way that centers the art and artist first is exactly what artistic independence is about. That spirit is at the core of what we’ve done at Rhymesayers for close to 30 years, and we’re proud to bring this album from a group so important to the culture into the world in the physical form.” 

No Fear of Time finally reunites one of the greatest hip-hop duos of all-time nearly a quarter century after their debut. Group members yasiin bey and Talib Kweli, both enormously influential hip hop artists in their own right, first joined forces as Black Star to deliver their iconic 1998 breakout, Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star, which quickly became one of hip-hop’s most revered works and launched both already-rising stars into the stratosphere.

After years spent nurturing their respective solo careers, the duo returned with the Madlib-produced No Fear of Time in 2022, recorded guerrilla-style around the globe in hotels and in dressing rooms at Dave Chappelle’s shows over the course of four years and released exclusively via the podcast platform Luminary. Luminary is also the home of The Midnight Miracle podcast, which the duo hosted with Chappelle. An official video was produced for album highlight “So Be It,” which the duo also performed during their SNL debut, as well as a lyric video for “o.G.” 

The album will be available on single-LP vinyl, CD, and cassette, along with a limited deluxe double-LP that includes both the main version and the instrumentals, each pressed on 180-gram vinyl in unique color treatments blending opaque white and opaque gold with translucent black ice and a metallic star effect. This deluxe vinyl edition is limited to 2000 units and features a foil stamped and numbered matte gatefold jacket, two full-color printed record sleeves, an 8-page matte lyric booklet, and an exclusive silver foil laminated heavyweight insert. Additionally, 300 units of the deluxe vinyl will be available as a premium bundle, which will include everything in the deluxe 2xLP vinyl package, with insert hand-signed by all three artists – yasiin bey, Talib Kweli and Madlib – along with a No Fear of Time t-shirt and a pair of Black Star slipmats.

Kaytranada And Childish Gambino Start Spooky Season Right By Linking Up For A ‘Witchy’ Video

Kaytranada had a noteworthy 2023, thanks primarily to Kaytraminé, his collaborative album with Aminé. He’s had a big 2024, too, with the June release of his latest album, Timeless, which includes the Childish Gambino collaboration “Witchy.” Given that October is here and Halloween is weeks away, the duo figured now would be an appropriate time to give the song a new video.

The new visual sees the pair performing the song in a dark studio environment, where they interact with some supernatural women, mirroring the song’s lyrics.

On the track, Gambino sings of a special someone who inspires mystical feelings: “I can feel you in the night / No lie / I don’t want no other vibe / No lie / I been missing somethin’ / That I cannot control / When I’m near, in your arms, in your eyes / I realize it’s voodoo / You make me feel like I’ve been floatin’ / This ain’t no spell, you got me open, girl / You’re being witchy and I love it, girl.”

“Witchy” broke new ground for Gambino this summer: It debuted at No. 19 on Billboard‘s Dance/Electronic Streaming Songs chart, giving Gambino his first ever placement on that particular chart. Indeed, it’s a song Gambino has embraced, as at the first show of The New World Tour in August, he gave “Witchy” its live debut.

Denzel Washington Allegedly Screamed At Diddy Before Storming Out Of A Party

Denzel Washington once allegedly got into a heated argument with Diddy at a party back in 2003, according to Us Weekly. The outlet cites a source who was allegedly friendly with the Bad Boy mogul at the time. They said that the alleged argument resulted in Washington storming out of the party with his wife, Pauletta.

“Denzel screamed, ‘You don’t respect anyone,’” the insider told Us Weekly. Eventually, Washington allegedly stormed out of the party. “[Denzel and his wife, Pauletta] had been partying until dawn [with Diddy], and they had seen something and stormed out,” they added.

The allegation about Washington comes after attorney Tony Buzbee alleged to have 120 individuals ready to file lawsuits against Diddy in a press conference on Tuesday. In a statement to Rolling Stone, one of Diddy’s lawyers, Erica Wolff, said of the press conference: “As Mr. Combs’ legal team has emphasized, he cannot address every meritless allegation in what has become a reckless media circus. That said, Mr. Combs emphatically and categorically denies as false and defamatory any claim that he sexually abused anyone, including minors. He looks forward to proving his innocence and vindicating himself in court if and when claims are filed and served, where the truth will be established based on evidence, not speculation.”

Authorities arrested Diddy on charges of alleged sex trafficking and racketeering, earlier this month. He’s already pleaded not guilty and plans to argue his case in court. BlocBoy JB Gets Arrested After Allegedly Falling Asleep Behind The Wheel In Memphis

According to AllHipHop, BlocBoy JB found himself at odds with the law earlier this week when he was arrested in Memphis. Reportedly, the Tennessee Highway Patrol noticed his car sitting still at an intersection for two cycles of red lights. Allegedly, the artist had fallen asleep behind the wheel, where officers found him with a loaded gun in his lap.

Allegedly, officers found 12.4 grams of marijuana in his vehicle in addition to the firearm. As a result, he’s been charged with alleged obstruction of a highway, driving while license revoked, unlawful possession of a weapon as a convicted felon, and simple possession of marijuana. In the past, his license was revoked for an alleged DUI.

The outlet reports that he was taken to Shelby County Jail yesterday (October 1), and posted a $7,500 bond today. He’s scheduled to appear in court on October 3. Fans haven’t heard from BlocBoy JB since his arrest, which comes after he defended Memphis Grizzlies player Ja Morant following his gun-flashing incident. He argued that guns aren’t always illegal and that the athlete should be able to spend his time off the court however he wants to.

“Guns are not illegal,” he wrote in May of last year. “If he turnt in his car with his gun dats in his name in his yard and somebody recorded him dat ain’t on him. 50 Cent has certainly managed to make a name for himself in the world of hip-hop, but nowadays, the mogul tends to focus on his other endeavors more than he does music. During a recent interview with Earn Your Leisure at Invest Fest, he explained exactly why that is. According to him, he’d have to channel his inner “st*pidity” to write music that fits in with the rest of what’s coming out these days.

Since he believes this is the case, he’s opted to spend more of his time on film production, which he thinks he could make a greater difference with. “If you listen to the music that’s out right now, I have to tap into my st*pid,” he began. “I have to tap into the st*pid side of me to write the right thing when it comes time to write the music.”

“This why I haven’t created as much content as I was creating in the past and I started going towards the film production and development of these projects,” 50 Cent continued. “Because I can impact things in a bigger way through that.” While music may not be Fif’s main focus these days, he did tease a musical comeback late last year. He told Evropa 2 in November that he planned to drop a new album after wrapping up his “Final Lap” tour.

Kim Porter’s Alleged Memoir Author Breaks Silence As Amazon Removes The Book

Chris Todd, the author of the controversial new book, Kim’s Lost Words: A Journey for Justice From the Other Side, has spoken out for a new interview with The Art of Dialogue. He’s been receiving backlash for framing the 59-page book as an alleged “memoir” of Kim Porter’s. It contains various passages allegedly written by Porter detailing allegations of abuse against her partner, Diddy. Porter and Diddy’s children have already come out to condemn Kim’s Lost Words and label it fictitious.

“I can’t reveal everything at once,” Todd alleged in the interview. “It’s too shocking. If I was released those tapes, the world would shut down. If I showed one of these tapes, I’m telling you right now, the whole music industry and Hollywood, it would just grind down. They’re all going to start pointing at each other and it’s going to be bad.”

He further said: “We’ve already set it up, we have multiple attorneys, we know how to do it. It’s not my first rodeo. I solved the biggest murder case in history. Three of them. I know how to do it. Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Now Shares A Wild Record On The Billboard Hot Rap Songs Chart

There is probably a decent number of people who are sick of hearing about Kendrick Lamar and “Not Like Us”. We can see where those hip-hop fans are coming from to some degree, as the track is everywhere. Plus, him being the headliner at this year’s Super Bowl has also set most of the internet off. But it’s hard to deny K. Dot’s success in 2024 and ignore what he’s doing for the genre. The song has been unifying in the eyes of West Coast MCs and the fact it’s also a part of a massive battle in rap’s history makes it that much more special.

It’s also just insanely catchy, making it a streaming darling. Since its release back in early May it’s been breaking records every other week, or at least it seems that way. It’s already the best-selling single of 2024, and it’s well on its way to eclipsing one billion streams. It may even do so by end of the year. As it stands, Kung Fu Kenny has racked up over 810 million plays.

Now, we are learning that the Drake diss track has tied a chart record. According to Genius, “Not Like Us” is knotted up with Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ 2019 smash “Old Town Road” for the most consecutive weeks atop the Billboard Hot Rap Songs chart. That number is 20 and overall, it’s been on that list for 21 weeks. Some were showing love to Lamar for the achievement, while others (Drake stans) were poo-pooing it. Overall, we expect him and the track to break this record and many with just two months to go.
