Benny the Butcher knows there is room at the top for two. After fans questioned his status on the charts with his Tana Talk 4 album in comparison to Lil Durk, Benny addressed it, saluting Chicago’s voice.

“I could never hate on smirk like y’all hate on me,” Benny wrote on Facebook. “See I respect the grind and kno it took him 10 yrs after ‘What U Want’ to get where he at me and bro got the same security and some staff so it’s all love.

“Don’t hate or envy the next man …put in the work and wait ya turn.”

Both Benny and Durkio dropped albums this past Friday. Benny’s stellar Tana Talk 4 featured Conway the Machine, Stove God Cooks, J. Cole, Diddy, and more. 7220, Durk’s latest release, brings in Gunna, Future, and more.

Jussie Smollett‘s legal team is working hard to get the actor out of Cook County Jail. According to TMZ, Smollett’s lawyers have petitioned by emergency motion to have him released from the Chicago jail.

Lil’ Durk is saying he is bigger than Drake in the trenches. In a recent appearance on Wallo and Gillie Da Kid’s “Million Dollaz Worth of Game” podcast, Durk re-visited a previous statement he made where he said he wanted to be “bigger than Drake.”

When Wallo, the show co-host asked Durkio how far he’s come since he made that statement, the Chicago rapper replied that to those with him and in his group, “we bigger than him, you know what I’m sayin’.”

Hip Hop legends, RZA and DJ Scratch released their joint full-length album, Saturday Afternoon Kung Fu Theater produced by DJ Scratch via 36 Chambers ALC/MNRK Music Group.

The two rap icons’ collaborative album is inspired by their love for martial arts. The project serves as a love letter to the kung fu movies that ran on local television channels every Saturday when there were only five options.

Just ahead of Friday’s release the duo hosted a star studded listening party filled with music industry guests, such as Rocnation’s Young Guru, actor, Flex Alexander and more.

Cocktail waitresses dawned in Wu Tang branded martial arts uniforms served guests as DJ Carisma provided the tunes.

“We named it that because we are flashing back to the days when we were young men coming from Brownsville Projects, then moving to Staten Island moving to Park Hill, Killa Hill,” RZA shared to the crowd on their inspiration for doing the album.

“It took us to a place far far far away, because we have never been to China. We have never been to Thailand…and we saw men protecting women, fighting oppression. We saw chivalry and one man taking down 20 men, breaking bricks, using num-chuks,” added RZA.

DJ Scratch who produced the album solely, previously explained:

“It was an honor to produce and  executive produce an entire album for a legendary MC, who happens to be one of the greatest Hip Hop producers of all time. This album is like a movie. The first track gives you the synopsis of the movie. The beats & the videos we shot will take you back to when you couldn’t wait to turn to channel 5 every Saturday at 3 pm to watch Saturday Afternoon Kung Fu Theater. I’m proud of this project and I can’t wait to perform these songs live.”

REPORT: Kanye’s “DONDA” Album Goes Platinum

Kanye West donda

Kanye West’s DONDA is officially going platinum. The Recording Industry Association of America confirmed that the album had reached over one-million equivalent sales since its release in August 2021.

DONDA was released after multiple delays and is West’s ninth solo album to reach platinum certification.

Jesus Is King and recently released DONDA 2 are his only projects that haven’t reached the mark.

West announced that DONDA 2 would only be available on his Stem Player platform.

However, that move made the album ineligible for the Billboard Charts since it violates Billboard’s merchandise bundle policy.

Billboard announced the bundling rule back in 2020, stating that selling merchandise along with a physical album or digital album download (often a free download) as a way to boost album sales numbers would skew sales numbers.

Ye’s player, has reportedly sold 39,500 units for a total of about $8.6 million.

Congratulations to Kanye achieving platinum status for DONDA. Share your thoughts with us on social media.

Cardi B Drops Out Of Lead In Paramount’s Film “Assisted Living”

Cardi B lead

Cardi B is allegedly dropping out of her lead role in Assisted Living just a week ahead of filming.

The “Press” rapper pulled out of the Paramount comedy due to being “overextended.”

According to reports, the film was set to star Cardi as a small-time criminal who goes into hiding at her grandmother’s nursing home after a heist gone wrong.

It remains to be seen if the last-minute decision will be followed by legal action.

The film would’ve been Cardi’s first lead role following small appearances in 2019’s Hustlers and 2021’s Fast & Furious 9.

Lil Baby Teases New Music, Says That Summer 2022 Belongs To Him

Lil baby summer

A Lil Baby album on the horizon for the summer?

Last month, Lil Baby told us that his album was in its finishing stages and its clear that he is very confident in his music. Without any doubt, the 4PF CEO is already predicting his near future. It’s unclear when Lil Baby is going to drop his album, but if his Instagram story gave any indication, then it’ll probably happen this summer.

Sunday night, (March 13), Lil Baby took it to IG to share a picture of him holding loads of money with text that read, “This summer is mines.”

Every time Lil Baby drops he’s in a class of his own.

Lil Baby’s last two albums, My Turn and The Voice of the Heroes, his joint project with Lil Durk, both respectively reached No.1 on the Billboard 200 album charts.

The 4 Pockets Full Boss has been killing the features. And although he hasn’t been drooping music, he has been in the airwaves. He recently collaborated with Nicki Minaj on “Do We Have A Problem.” Then they spun the block again and collaborated on “Bussin.”

Before that,  he laid a verse on Gunna DS4Ever album, dropped a verse on Nardo Wicks, “Me or Summ,” Meek Mill’s “Sharing Location,” and Drake’s “Girls and Girls.”

Lil Baby has also been seen working with fellow Atlanta producer Southside. Southside is responsible for one of his biggest hits. In 2018, the two united for “Southside,” which peaked No.79 on Billboard’s top 100. Southside also produced “Spazz” from his Harder Than Ever 3 project.

Today in Hip-Hop History: 2Pac Dropped His Third LP ‘Me Against The World’ 27 Years Ago

Screen Shot 2022 03 14 at 3.25.37 PM

On this day in Hip-Hop History, the late Tupac Shakur released his third studio LP, Me Against the World. This album came at one of the most pivotal times in ‘Pac’s life and career. Recorded shortly after his near-fatal assassination attempt in New York and released while he was in prison, this album marked a change in 2Pac as an artist and a man.

This album was nothing like the music that gave him his “thug life” gangster image and street credentials. The subject matter and tone of this project were a lot more serious and introspective than anything he had previously released. Much less high energy than the tracks from his previous album Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z…, this album showed genuine reflection on his life and career path as an artist along with shining light on some of his personal struggles with paranoia and self-loathing.

The realism of this album brought a ridiculous amount of commercial success. Debuting at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, the album has been certified double platinum selling over 3.5 million copies in the United States alone. Along with being #1 in the US, the album also ranked #23 in Germany and #20 in Sweden. In the year after its release, the album received the Soul Train Music Award for Best Rap Album. The project was Tupac’s most positively reviewed album and has been called the magnum opus of his career.

The singles from the project “Dear Mama,” “So Many Tears” and “Temptations” all made appearances on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. “Dear Mama” peaked at #9, “So Many Tears” hit #44 and “Temptations” claimed the#68 spot.
