Vince Staples Releases “Magic” Video from Forthcoming ‘Ramona Park Broke My Heart’ Album

Vince Staples Releases "Magic" Video from Forthcoming 'Ramona Park Broke My Heart' Album

Vince Staples has released the video for “Magic,” the first single from his upcoming album Ramona Park Broke My Heart, which will be released in April on Blacksmith Recordings/Motown Records. The video, directed by Prettybird’s KENTEN, comprises a succession of one-take images with camera movement that depict Vince’s day from a surrealist perspective, allowing the audience to perceive everything around him as if they were an observer.

“Magic,” produced by Mustard, is a celebration of how Staples overcame the inner city blues and a system that was supposed to keep him enmeshed in the adversity he grew up in.

“I think it’ll put the listener in a good state of mind,” Staples says. “The mood of it defines the project.”

Ramona Park Broke My Heart is Staples’ follow-up to his critically praised self-titled album from 2021, which introduced fans to his homeland (the Ramona Park neighborhood of Long Beach, CA) as well as intimate friends and family.

Staples began his tenure as a support act on Tyler, the Creator’s 34-city North American Call Me If You Get Lost tour earlier this month, which also included Kali Uchis and Teezo Touchdown. Staples recently released his first graphic novel, Limbo Beach, through Z2 Comics. It follows the journey of the newest member of the Wunderlosts, a band of misfit teenage raiders, on a journey to discover the truth about the park—and himself—in a tale that is equal parts Lord of the Flies and The Warriors, co-written by industry vets Bryan Edward Hill (Batman & the Outsiders; Titans), Chris Robinson (Children of the Atom), and Buster Moody (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles).

[WATCH] King Von Slings a Flamethrower in “Too Real” Video

King Von Slings a Flamethrower in "Too Real" Video

The estate of King Von has released the video for “Too Real,” a track from his new posthumous album What It Means To Be King. Von delivers an emotional message in the song, rocking a stutter-stepping rhythm and stating unequivocally that he’s the realest in the streets. Von stalks the backstreets of Chicago with a flamethrower in hand, flashing the glittering smile that his fans and friends loved so well, in “Too Real,” directed by his usual partner DrewFilmedIt.

The What It Means To Be King album is a labor of love that gathers previously unreleased songs from the artist’s output. It’s packed with the fiery bars and riveting storylines that have gained him a devoted following, but it also hints at some of the routes he may have explored if he had more time. Many of the people who know Von best contributed to the album, including longtime collaborator and producer Chopsquad DJ, his “twin” Lil Durk, and fellow O’Block natives like Boss Top and DqFrmDaO, as well as street rap heroes like 21 Savage, Moneybagg Yo, G Herbo, and others.

Paul Wall & Termanology Drop Pete Rock Produced “Recognize My Car” Ahead of Joint Album

paul termanology

Houston’s legendary lyricist Paul Wall is no stranger to the car community. Now his longtime friend and collaborator, Termanology, joins him riding shotgun as they both spit hard-hitting raps in the new video “Recognize My Car” produced by Pete Rock.

The D Will directed visual used some VHS style footage to capture the H-Town slab culture while both emcees rhyme their verses. Slab is Houston slang for a souped up car, with a special set of rims, called “swangas.”

This isn’t the first time these two artists have teamed up. Last month, the duo released “No Tolerance” featuring Fly Anakin and Nems.

Along with releasing the video for “Recognize My Car,” Paul and Term also announced a joint album is arriving. Paul Wall and Termanology are set to drop Start 2 Finish on April 8.

Start 2 Finish will be a 10-track project executive produced by Statik Selektah and with features from Bun B, Fly Anakin, C SharpMillyz, and Nems among others.

Both artists are thrilled to be working with each other on this project. In an exclusive statement to The Source, the “Sittin’ Sideways” rapper said, “I had a lot of fun working with Term on this project! And every time I work with Statik Selektah it brings out the absolute best in me. This album brought out some of the best rap bars I’ve ever spit.”

Termanology shared the same reaction with The Source. “I had so much fun making this album. The production is top quality and Paul Wall went crazy on every verse, which made me get even more creative with my pen game. I think people are going to like this project a lot.”

Enjoy the video for “Recognize My Car” from Paul Wall and Termanology below.

[WATCH] Conway the Machine Releases “Stressed” Video

Conway The Machine Stressed

Conway has dug back into his GOD DON’T MAKE MISTAKES bag to create a video for “Stressed.”

Conway broke down his own walls by sharing his tale with the world, and GOD DON’T MAKE MISTAKES portrays him in a completely different light as a result of his candor. Conway provided his admirers with a mirror into his life by being vulnerable and thoughtful. GOD DON’T MAKE MISTAKES is an open and honest depiction of a guy grappling with his own inner demons and struggle.

“Does it matter that I’m stressed?” “Stressed,” perhaps more than any other song on GOD DON’T MAKE MISTAKES, emphasizes that window into his soul. Conway discusses his cousin’s suicide, childhood abuse, the death of his young son, addiction, trauma, and the debilitating Bells Palsy diagnosis he’s had since being shot in the head, which nearly killed him.

The new album features appearances and production from Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Benny The Butcher, Westside Gunn, Jill Scott, T.I., Beanie Sigel, Hit-Boy, The Alchemist, Daringer, Beat Butcha, Bink, J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League, Novel, Keisha Plum, Cosmo Beats, and Conway’s Drumwork label artists Jae Skeese and 7xvethegenius.

The new album serves as Conway‘s origin story equipped with stories of decisions and battling inner demons, while also celebrating wins, love, and losses.

“It was tough opening up doors that I haven’t opened up in a while.  This is my story and sharing it all with the world is different for me, but I was happy to do it” Conway states.  “I know fans will love it.”

You can hear the new album below.

Aretha Franklin's Granddaughter Sings "Ain't No Way" During 'American Idol' Audition

American Idol returned on Sunday night and featured a notable contestant, Aretha Franklin’s 15-year-old granddaughter, Grace Franklin.

The Detroit teen appeared in front of judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Luke Bryan, and sang “Killing Me Softly,” by Lauryn Hill and her late grandma’s classic single “Ain’t No Way.”

“I don’t think I could fully grasp the fact that she was famous worldwide,” Grace said. “Because to me, she was always grandma.”

While she sang her grandmother’s song, Grace stated, “I am my own artist and I have my own voice.” Unfortunately, for Grace, she received two No’s, from Richie and Bryan, the former who stated she was not yet ready.
