The fact that the 23-year-old has often been wearing oversized dresses to red carpet events in recent months hasn’t done much to calm things down. When she and her beau were walking around Santa Monica in their sweatpants earlier in October, the internet felt ready to make the announcement for the young couple.

As she appeared to have a budding baby bump under her sweatshirt, many have been waiting for Bailey to share some exciting news with her followers. However, the Atlanta native has instead kept us on our toes. Today (October 29), she’s showing off a notably slender figure when revealing her 2023 Halloween costume in tandem with DDG. The pair went as the lead characters from 1993’s Poetic Justice, played by Janet Jackson and the late Tupac Shakur.

Bailey has long been compared to the R&B legend physically, and her vocals are a great match for Jackson’s talent. Surprisingly, social media users even had compliments for the YouTuber, despite the negative reputation he seems to have amongst Bailey’s fanbase. “This kind of wins me over with DDG, but he got one more time to mess it up! Lol,” one user joked. Elsewhere in the comments, fellow artists like Flo Milli and Lakeyah gassed the pair up for their creativity.

As internet sleuths have certainly already noted, this now marks the second IG upload from Halle Bailey with no discernable signs of a baby bump. Since people began speculating about them in January 2022, Halle Bailey and DDG have been open about their relationship. In August 2022, Bailey told Essence she was “for sure” in love with DDG, noting she’d “been a fan of his for years.” That November, DDG gushed about The Little Mermaid star in a way that incidentally foreshadowed the rumors swirling around the couple almost exactly one year later.

“Yeah, yeah, I’m married,” DDG said on The Breakfast Club. “Nah, I ain’t really married, but you know what I mean.” The rapper added that he figured he’d “eventually” marry Bailey. Well, did it happen?

On Wednesday, October 18, Glamour UK named Bailey its “Women Of The Year Awards 2023 Gen-Z Game-Changer honoree.” According to Pop Base, the accompanying cover story initially misattributed a pull-quote to Bailey that actually belonged to fellow cover star Leigh-Anne Pinnock. The quote reads, “Being a mum, being newly married — there’s the positive side of it, but also the negative. I want to show that, although things might look perfect from the exterior, that’s not always the case.”

Bailey’s profile no longer includes the aforementioned quote on the Glamour UK website, but it remains within Leigh-Anne’s profile. It should also be noted that Glamour has not addressed the alleged mishap. And for now, there has not been explicit confirmation that Bailey and DDG are married or that they’re parents, though rumors have been swirling around whether Bailey is pregnant since at least August.

Halle Bailey didn’t seem too concerned about beating the pregnancy rumours long floating around her and DDG on Monday (October 17). At the time, the couple was out in Santa Monica, where The Little Mermaid actress’ oversized outfit raised eyebrows in the California heat. Of course, we’re waiting for her and her YouTuber beau to share the news themselves before sending them congratulations, but their latest date night on Tuesday had some second-guessing whether Bailey is rocking a baby bump or not.

After beginning the week off in her casual attire, the 23-year-old reminded us she’s That Girl for the Glamour Women of the Year Awards. As per usual, Bailey and DDG beautifully coordinated their attire. He looked even more dapper than usual in an all-black suit, adding a hefty silver cross chain to accessorize. On his arm, the Atlanta native also opted to wear black, though her short dress featured beautiful white fabric layered underneath the skirt to give it some volume. Her simple black heels brought the full look together, along with her simple necklace, bracelet, and earrings.

As PEOPLE reports, the “Do It” singer and DDG first went Instagram official in March 2022. Singer and actress Halle Bailey has had a big year. Back in May, she starred as Ariel in the live-action version of The Little Mermaid. She also dropped her debut solo single, “Angel,” and is set to appear as Nettie in a remake of The Color Purple, which arrives in theaters in December.

But her relationship with rapper DDG also has been making headlines. Like many high-profile couples, their relationship has been plagued with rumors. So, here is a timeline of their relationship so far.

January 2022

The two were first spotted together at Usher’s residency show in Las Vegas, where they appeared to be enjoying themselves watching the R&B legend perform his hits. Pictures surfaced of DDG with his arm around Bailey, as the pair appeared rather happy and cozy.

June 2022

Bailey and DDG attended the BET Awards, making their official red carpet debut. Bailey noted that she was looking forward to seeing her sister Chlöe perform, with DDG by her side, who she referred to as her “boo.”

“I have my boo with me today,” Bailey said to Extra at the time. “We’re so excited. We’re gonna have so much fun just supporting Chloe. It’ll be great!”

Bailey opened up about her relationship with DDG in an interview with Essence. She recalled first seeing him as a YouTuber when both of them were younger.

“I’ve been a fan of his for years,” she said. “I grew up being on YouTube and would always see the young Black creators and was constantly inspired by them. He was one of them.”

She said she had first seen DDG’s videos around 2015, but had forgotten about him for a time. He caught her attention once again when he started making music, and she remembers gravitating to one song in particular.

“Coincidentally he messaged me — and the rest is history,” Bailey said.

The couple attended the premiere of Avatar: The Way Of Water together.

February 2023

Fans began to speculate that there may be trouble in paradise after DDG’s ex-girlfriend, rapper Rubi Rose posted a tweet reading, “Having ur b*tch [wear] my clothes is crazy lol.”

Rose did not allude to DDG or Bailey directly, however, fans noticed that Bailey had shared a picture of herself wearing a shirt Rose had been seen wearing in 2020.

In a since-deleted tweet, DDG wrote “All these girls the same, ain’t no way,” and fans noticed he had unfollowed Bailey.

DDG later took to Twitter, seemingly addressing the rumors, saying, “nobody cheated on nobody btw. don’t take my tweets too serious.”

In an interview with British Vogue, Bailey reeled over a special kind of love, which she said was inspiring her creatively.

“Experiencing deep love for the first time in my life is something I feel has opened a whole new world for me creatively,” she said. “What it feels like to love someone other than your family, like somebody you may not have known two years ago but now they’re the center of your world. I like all of the scary feelings that come with that. I like the suspense, the not knowing what’s going to happen, and I feel like that’s what I’m supposed to be going through in womanhood.”

The interview was published shortly before the premiere of The Little Mermaid, and Bailey noted that being in the spotlight was beginning to make her feel uneasy.
