Gucci Mane Gives Some Sex And Dating Advice In His ‘First Impression’ Video With Quavo And Yung Miami

As one of the godfathers of Atlanta’s trap rap sound, Gucci Mane has come to play a similar role in his city and region to Snoop Dogg in LA. He’s a mentor of sorts to any number of artists from the A, and a Southern icon in general, lending out his co-sign to up-and-coming acts while giving all sorts of useful advice about music, money, and even dating. Uncle Guwop doles out some of the latter in his new video for “First Impression” with Yung Miami and Quavo, offering the truism that “you never get a second chance to make a first impression.”

Between the two guests, the real revelation is Yung Miami. Ever since City Girls blew up with their breakout hit “Act Up,” Miami has taken criticism for being the less lyrical half of the Miami duo. Some fans have even (incorrectly) asserted that her flow is often off-beat, and while Miami herself has laughed off those accusations, there’s clear proof here that she actually has been taking the craft seriously and working to improve her pen. “Pucci purse and a Patek all off of pussy power — now that’s ‘Pushin P’,” she wisecracks in her verse. Not gonna lie; I smirked.

“First Impressions” is the latest single from Gucci and 1017’s new compilation album So Icy Gang: The ReUp, which is out now via Atlantic. You can watch the video above.

Gucci Mane And 1017’s ‘So Icy Gang: The Reup’ Adds 13 Additional Tracks To Their 2020 Album

For someone who’s been one of the most prolific artists in rap music over the course of his 17-year career, Gucci Mane has been oddly quiet lately, containing his musical appearances mostly to a handful of singles and features on other artists’ projects. In recent months, he dropped “Rumors” with Lil Durk, “Blood All On It” with Young Dolph and Key Glock, “Serial Killers,” and “Mrs. Davis,” but one song a month — while an impressive output for anyone else — is a slow year for Guwop.

Fortunately, that may soon change with the announcement of So Icy Gang: The ReUp, which is due to drop on June 17. A deluxe edition of Gucci’s 2020 1017 Global Music compilation So Icy Gang, Vol. 1, the new album adds 13 new tracks to the original 19, which included contributions from 1017 signees BiC Fizzle, Big Scarr, BigWalkDog, Hotboy Wes, Enchanting, Pooh Shiesty, and Foogiano. The additional tracks include the ones named above, while the picks from Foogiano and Pooh Shiesty are welcome surprises considering their current situations (both men are locked up for separate crimes and facing serious prison sentences). The ReUp will be 1017’s fourth compilation release in just three years; in 2021, the label released both So Icy Boyz and a Christmas album titled So Icy Christmas. Now that’s consistency.

You can pre-save So Icy Gang: The ReUp here and stream it on 6/17 via Atlantic Records.

Yo Gotti In The Big League, Vory Out Of The Shadows, Polo G Wants No Distractions

Yo Gotti, Gucci Mane, Polo G

It is a busy Friday for music lovers. New songs from CMG, Rowdy Rebel and a new album by Post Malone for what we hope is a weekend of chilling and, hopefully, rest. Gucci Mane dropped a number too, reminding the world YSL does not define Atlanta, even as a judge denied Young Thug bond. Let’s […]

Gucci Mane Shows His Gratitude For His Wife’s Love And Loyalty In His Lavish ‘Mrs. Davis’ Video

Gucci Mane met his now-wife Keyshia Ka’Oir Davis back in 2010. Since then the two have been side-by-side through their respective ups and downs. After an arrest in 2013, and an eventual plea deal where he accepted a charge for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, Gucci Mane would go on to spend two years behind bars. Through it all, Ka’Oir stayed by his side. A year and a half after his release, Gucci and Keyshia would go on and get married, and three years later, the two gave birth to their first child as a couple, a baby boy they named Ice Davis.

It’s all these occurrences and more between the couple that has Gucci Mane eternally grateful for his companion in his new song “Mrs. Davis.” Gucci sings his praises about his wife with lines like “Had to buy her two rings, ’cause we got married twice / A million dollar push present ’cause she carry ice.” The track also arrived with a matching video that captures the couple’s lavish love as sip champagne on a plane and spend time with their song Ice.

Gucci’s “Mrs. Davis” continues what’s been an active year for him. Prior to the new single, he released “Serial Killers,” “Blood All On It,” and “Rumors” with Lil Durk.

Gucci Mane Gave A Fan $5,000 After They Returned A Jewelry Bracelet That He Lost During A Show

At any given moment, you’ll most likely catch Gucci Mane with a neck and/or wrist flooded with diamonds. The Atlanta trap star has never been shy to show off his collection of jewelry and extremely expensive watches. So it would make sense that Gucci would be quite grateful if he lost one of those items all for it to be swiftly returned to him, and that’s exactly what happened at a recent show of his. During a past club appearance, Gucci decided to turn up with the crowd, but it was during this time that he lost one of his jewelry bracelets.

Luckily for Gucci, the bracelet was returned to him by a good samaritan not too long after he lost it, and he showed his gratitude with a generous gift. After the bracelet was given to him, Gucci took out $5,000 in cash to give to the fan as a way to show his appreciation. “I was f*cked up when I felt like it came off my wrist,” Gucci said at one point during the night.

Gucci’s display of appreciation comes as he’s turned up his activeness on the music front. It’s highlighted by a collection of songs he’s dropped this year: “Rumors” with Lil Durk, “Publicity Stunt,” “Blood All On It” with Young Dolph and Key Glock, and “Serial Killers.”

Lil Wayne Shares His Top Five Rappers, Including Biggie, Jay-Z, And Some Surprise Picks

We love when rappers share their picks for the top five rappers. It gives us insights into their influences and creative processes. It often vindicates some of our most deeply held beliefs about the culture and genre. It puts newer or younger fans (sometimes older) onto a broader range of artists to check out. And, of course, it gives us an endless well of fuel for our most cherished Twitter debate, ensuring that we’ll have enough fat to chew on until the sun burns out.

The latest rapper to contribute to the long-running tradition is Lil Wayne, whose list is quite a doozy, containing both the expected picks and some left-field surprises that actually make sense when you consider his own unique approach to the art of rap. Wayne gave his answer in a special edition of What’s Wright? With Nick Wright, a podcast version of the Fox Sports personality’s popular show.

Almost as well known for his affinity for hip-hop as Wayne is for his sports referencing raps, Wright offers his own list (a pretty humdrum collection including the usual picks: Jay-Z, Tupac, Wayne himself, Kanye West, and T.I.), which Wayne says he respects. Then Wayne starts off his own list with a pick that far too few people include for my taste, Missy Elliott. Vindication!

Missy is a pick that makes perfect sense for Wayne — a quirky writer and performer who outright avoids convention and whose influence resonates throughout the industry, even if she rarely gets credit for it. Good one on Wayne for including her. Of course, Jay-Z enters his list (he’s repeatedly said that the Brooklyn rapper is his favorite MC ever). He also credits Biggie and Gucci Mane — another interesting pick, although not wholly unexpected from a Southerner like Wayne. Guwop’s influence throughout the bottom half of the States is undeniable and inextricable. His last pick is pretty mind-blowing though.

He cheats a little by picking a group, but rather than a well-worn, oft-tapped collective like Wu-Tang Clan, Wayne once again shows his Southern roots by choosing Atlanta mainstays Goodie Mob, a four-man band that includes Big Gipp, CeeLo Green, Khujo, and T-Mo. Their debut album, Soul Food,
is considered a classic and as part of the Dungeon Family, they worked extensively with Outkast and Organized Noise, two of the most pivotal groups in Southern rap.

Not a bad list, all things considered. And like I said before, pretty telling when you compare Wayne’s influences to his output. It’s easy to see why he goes against the grain so much and the results so often turn out so well.
