Boosie Badazz Names His Dog GloRilla

Boosie Badazz and GloRilla have shown love for each other in an unconventional manner. Though Boosie’s known to embrace much of the talent emerging out of the South, we’ve yet to see him and GloRilla on a track. However, his appreciation for the artist hasn’t been lost. Over the weekend, the Louisiana legend went on Instagram Live when he revealed that he named his dog GloRilla. “I named my dog GloRilla… Big Glo… Ole GloRilla, mane,” he said in the video. Some might look at it as some form of disrespect but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Glo didn’t push back nor did she condemn Boosie for the gesture. Instead, she reciprocated the same energy toward Boosie. The Memphis star shared a video of her pet lizard on Instagram, which she named after the Baton Rouge rapper. “Say hey to my new addition,” she told her fans. “Hey, Boosie!” So far, Boosie hasn’t responded to GloRilla’s pet name reveal but we could imagine that he would be flattered to have a lizard named after him.

Boosie Badazz & GloRilla Name Their Pets After Each Other

Perhaps, this connection could lead to some sort of collaboration in the future. Boosie’s continued to make strides in his independent film career so perhaps, we’ll be able to catch a cameo from GloRilla in the near future. If not, maybe they’ll link up on a record. GloRilla’s currently riding high off of the release of the deluxe edition of Anyways, Life’s Great which features Lil Durk, among others. Plus, she kept the momentum high when she joined Drake on stage at Dreamville fest this weekend.

Meanwhile, Boosie Badazz has continued to make headlines with his antics, although he also delivered some excellent features recently. He teamed up with EST Gee on “HOTBOYS,”  a guttural banger that appears on the Louisville rapper’s new mixtape, MAD. Moreover, Boosie came through with a stand-out performance on DJ Drama’s I’m Really Like That. The rapper links up with OMB Peezy and the late Trouble on the single, “Iron Right.” Maybe a collab with GloRilla might be in the works next.

Cardi B And Ice Spice Lead The Way For Hot 97’s Summer Jam 2023 Lineup

Festival season is in full swing. The latest long-running fest to announce its summer lineup is New York’s Hot 97 Summer Jam. Moving this year to Elmont, New York’s UBS Arena (home of the NHL’s New York Islanders), the one-day festival is scheduled for June 4 with tickets going on sale Saturday, April 8 at 10 am.

It’s a true hometown showcase this year, with Cardi B headlining and a full list of hip-hop it-girls — Coi Leray, Ice Spice, and Lola Brooke — from the tri-state area looking to make an impact. Meanwhile, Bronx natives French Montana and Lil Tjay and Brooklynite Fivio Foreign will round out the lineup, along with a Hip-Hop 50 tribute from Yonkers’s own The Lox. The only out-of-towner on the bill is GloRilla, a fitting addition alongside some of the other ladies on the lineup.

As of right now, it’s looking like Summer Jam is going to be Cardi B’s first festival headlining set since the pandemic, while it’ll be the biggest hometown show yet for Ice Spice and Lola Brooke. It’ll also mark an important opportunity for them since Rolling Loud New York was unfortunately canceled at the last minute this year.

What Was Drake’s Setlist From Dreamville Fest 2023?

Usher pulled a cruel April Fools’ Day joke as a headliner at Dreamville Festival, leaving the Raleigh, North Carolina crowd briefly believing that Beyoncé was joining him on stage.

Drake wasn’t playing around with his co-headlining set on Sunday, April 2. He actually brought out 21 Savage, GloRilla, Lil Wayne, and Lil Uzi Vert. Dreamville boss and co-headliner J. Cole also made an appearance to close things out sentimentally.

“I’m such a fan, and I feel like I’m speaking for all of us when I say this, bro: We are f*cking wowed, amazed, blown away by your greatness, bro,” Cole said. “It gives a n**** chills to see you do this sh*t at the highest level, nonstop, and constantly serve us and bless us with the f*cking soundtrack to our lives, bro. I’m f*cking blown away by your greatness, bro.”

Drake Brought Out 21 Savage, GloRilla, Lil Uzi Vert, And Lil Wayne During His Dreamville Festival Set

Drake and J. Cole may have been billed as co-headliners of Dreamville Festival Sunday night but Drake’s portion of the set turned into a mini-festival of its own as he brought out a plethora of special guests to round out the show. Amid a hit-strewn set that saw Drake bring out fan favorites spanning all the way back to his debut album, the Canadian superstar still found space to surprise fans with some familiar faces.

First, he introduced the crowd to breakout Memphis star GloRilla, who performed her viral hit “FNF (Let’s Go).” Then, without warning, Lil Uzi Vert appeared, sporting a relatively low-key look (for Lil Uzi Vert), prompting performances of “XO Tour Llif3” and “Just Wanna Rock.” As Drake performed his 2011 party cut “The Motto,” his Young Money boss Lil Wayne popped out to contribute not just his verse from the song but also performances of “Uproar” and “A Milli.”

Then, before wrapping things up, Drake invited his Her Loss collaborator 21 Savage to the stage to perform a pair of their joint tracks, “Knife Talk” and “Rich Flex.”

As his set came to a close, Drake was joined by J. Cole, and the pair spent the last few minutes of the festival showing their appreciation for each other (again) before J. Cole closed things out with his fan-favorite hit “No Role Modelz.”

GloRilla Channels Aaliyah In Tommy Jeans x Aries Campaign

In the 1990s, Hip Hop and Tommy Hilfiger were synonymous. The famed fashion house that once appealed to the yuppie crowd found new footing with Hip Hop and R&B, and soon, some of our favorite Golden Era artists were starring in their own campaigns. The late-great Aaliyah famously partnered with the brand, helping to push Tommy Hilfiger further into streetwear circles. It looks like GloRilla is following in the “More Than A Woman” singer’s footsteps now that she stars in a campaign for Tommy Jeans and Aries.

The nostalgia runs deep with this campaign because, at first glance, it’s evident that GloRilla’s Tommy Jeans x Aries fit was a nod to the late singer. The Anyways, Life’s Great hitmaker told Paper: “I’m a big Aaliyah fan, and I love what she did with them. I’m part of keeping a legacy going.” Adding, “It’s refreshing to me, because I love the old-school and being able to bring it to my generation.”

Carrying On A Legacy

The crop tops and bandeaus paired with baggy jeans with matching sneakers are a signature style for Tommy. “I feel highly favored, because it could have been anyone else but me,” said GloRilla. “I gotta make sure I keep it going. Memphis is getting the notoriety it deserves.” The collection will become available to the public tomorrow (March 31) at the Tommy Hilfiger website and limited Tommy Jeans locations. It’s one of several accomplishments in GloRilla’s early days and a more positive one at that.

The rapper has been busy making her mark in Hip Hop. She took to the Grammy Awards stage with dozens of icons to celebrate the culture’s 50th anniversary just last month. Later, at the ceremony, she fulfilled many of our lifelong dreams of meeting Beyoncé—a moment that Glo will cherish forever. When she isn’t meeting the industry’s top tier, you can find her on social media cracking jokes with her fans and sharing encouraging messages. She’s working through controversy following a tragedy at a New York concert, but Glo stays the course. Her team seems to be working overtime to carve out her success. GloRilla’s Tommy Jeans Campaign Is A Tribute To Aaliyah: ‘I’m Part Of Keeping A Legacy Going’

Within the last year, GloRilla burst onto the scene with “FNF (Let’s Go),” leading to her signing with Yo Gotti’s CMG Records and becoming a ubiquitous voice in hip-hop with Billboard Hot 100 hits like “Tomorrow 2” alongside Cardi B and her debut EP, Anyways, Life’s Great. Yet, the Memphis standout is only beginning to cement her legacy.

That growing legacy now includes Tommy Jeans, as she is a face for the Tommy Hilfiger brand’s new collaboration with Aries. Her Tommy x Aries photos immediately conjured nostalgia for the late Aaliyah’s 1996 campaign.

“I’m a big Aaliyah fan, and I love what she did with them,” GloRilla told Paper. “I’m part of keeping a legacy going.” She added, “It’s refreshing to me, because I love the old-school and being able to bring it to my generation.”

According to Billboard, the Tommy x Aries capsule includes 35 pieces spanning menswear, womenswear, and footwear:

“The retro designs include ‘90s-style silhouettes with exaggerated proportions, split colorways, layers and lots of baggy denim. Some of the key pieces from the collection include a black trucker jacket with a five-pocket matching pant, a jacquard tape logo dress and relaxed indigo denim jacket and baggy split colorway screen-printed jean, similar to what Aaliyah wore in a 1996 campaign for Tommy Jeans.”

The full collection will be available this Friday, March 31, in select retailers on Tommy Hilfiger’s official website.
