HARDY Puts Country Twang On The Classic Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre Collab “Gin & Juice”

Just a couple of months ago, two of the West Coast’s most prominent rap figures Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre announced a new alcoholic beverage. Promotional videos for the perfectly named “Gin & Juice” rolled out in February, as each artist continues to create more avenues for themselves. It seems the drink is in the process of being rolled out still, according to The Source, and it is being distributed nationally through Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits. It is known to be the largest beverage distributor in the United States, so there is clearly a lot of support behind the spiked concoction.

Four flavors are available, including apricot, citrus, melon, and passionfruit and it is a premium gin-based cocktail. While Snoop and Dre will certainly not have too much trouble marketing it themselves, some extra exposure never hurts. The iconic G-funk duo has done just that, according to HipHopDX, as they have asked country singing star HARDY to give the drink a larger audience outside of hip-hop. The Mississippi native got the okay to recreate the rappers’ essential track “Gin & Juice” with Southern flare.

HARDY told Complex that he was honored for this incredible offer. “I’m still in disbelief, but I am so stoked that I’m dropping my version of ‘Gin and Juice’ with the blessing of Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg themselves. Thankful for the opportunity.” HARDY does a great job of flipping some memorable lines, as well as performing the hook. He even made sure to incorporate the iconic ringing synths into his version. Be sure to check out the two songs back-to-back with the links above.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single “Gin & Juice” by HARDY? Did the country star do Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg justice with this interpolation, why or why not? Do you think we are going to continue to see the melding of country and hip-hop more often going forward? Was this a smart marketing move by Dre and Snoop to ask HARDY to do this? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Quotable Lyrics:

So much drama out in Tennessee
It’s kinda hard bein’ H-A-R-D-Y
But I somehow, someway
Keep comin’ up with country-a** s*** like every single day
May I kick a little somethin’
For the G’s and make a few M’s?

Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg Team for ‘Gin & Juice’ Beverage Line

Snoop Dogg Dr. Dre

Musical legends Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg electrified the Super Bowl afterparty in Las Vegas with a surprise performance, marking the launch of Gin & Juice By Dre and Snoop, their premium ready-to-drink product.

“Together, we always try to create magic, we’re having fun being creative, and everything about this product is really us,” says Dr. Dre. “There’s passion behind it, and friendship and love and a culture. We’re shooting to make everything we do magnificent, and fortunately, most of the time we hit the target.”

“Look where we’re at in our careers,” says Snoop Dogg. “Look at our age and look at what we’ve done, and we still love each other, so why not do something together? A lot of times people have been in a relationship for thirty years and can’t talk to each other, can’t hang out, so it’s just fun to be in a partnership with people that you actually love.”

The new venture celebrates three decades since their iconic hit “Gin & Juice” and the 30th anniversary of Snoop’s album Doggystyle. The canned cocktails, available in flavors like Citrus and Melon, pay homage to the classic song and promise an innovative drinking experience. Distributed nationally through Southern Glazer’s Wine and Spirits, the brand, led by industry veterans, aims to redefine the spirits market with its distinctive offerings.

Dr. Dre And Snoop Dogg Launched A New Canned Beverage Fittingly Based On ‘Gin And Juice’

Late last year, Snoop Dogg launched a line of hemp-infused beverages taking advantage of his reputation as a world-class cannabis ambassador and the coincidental timing of his “giving up smoke” ad to give the world Death Row Records’ Doggy Spritz and other associated drinks.

Now, he teamed up with Dr. Dre to deliver another commercial take on the West Coast duo’s long and storied careers: a canned ready-to-drink cocktail inspired by their 1994 hit “Gin And Juice.” The alcoholic beverage will be available in four flavors — Apricot, Citrus, Melon, and Passionfruit — and begin rolling out in the US from now through early spring. The dynamic duo announced the new product with a Quentin Tarantino-inspired short film on social media in which they apparently play the roles of Jules and Vincent-esque hitmen burying a recent victim in the woods while wearing suits and enjoying their new drinks (and Snoop’s favorite vegetable).

In a press release about the new product, Snoop said, “Look at our age and look at what we’ve done, and we still love each other, so why not do something together? A lot of times people have been in a relationship for thirty years and can’t talk to each other, can’t hang out, so it’s just fun to be in a partnership with people that you actually love.” Dre echoed the sentiment, saying, “Together, we always try to create magic, we’re having fun being creative, and everything about this product is really us. There’s passion behind it, and friendship and love and a culture. We’re shooting to make everything we do magnificent, and fortunately, most of the time we hit the target.”

They’ll have another opportunity to do so with their long-awaited follow-up to Doggystyle, called Missionary, which they’re apparently close to releasing.

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre still have to release their collab album Missionary, but that’s not slowing them down in other areas. Moreover, they just released some promotional material for their brand new alcoholic drink, “Gin & Juice,” although we don’t know much about the product, release timeline, distribution, and other areas. One of the clips shows off the can itself, and it looks like it will be available in melon, apricot, citrus, and passionfruit flavors. The other commercial shows the two West Coast legends recreating the iconic opening scene from Martin Scorsese’s 1990 mob classic, Goodfellas. Hopefully the drink gets a pretty wide release, because so many folks out there want a taste of what Tha Doggfather was rapping about on his 1993 debut, Doggystyle.

Furthermore, it’s no surprise that these hip-hop titans would eventually want to release a drink together, especially after everything they already did in the pop culture sphere. It also represents Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg’s massive reach in the entertainment and business worlds. For example, one of the most notable parts of U2’s opening Las Vegas residency show at the Sphere was that the former Death Row duo showed up to party; no shade to Bono and the gang, though. It was just great to see them in an environment of success and notoriety for rap artists that they helped create.

Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg’s “Gin & Juice” Promos: Watch

Of course, they are both quite busy individually as well, both in their personal lives and in their careers. For example, Snoop Dogg recently made big headlines, along with Master P, for their legal action against Walmart. Apparently, the company attempted to sabotage the Snoop Cereal brand, and they’re currently in the opening stages of a legal battle to settle the matter. It’s definitely not what we expected from 2024, but in this day and age, nothing’s easy to predict.

Meanwhile, the star producer was honored, along with the rest of N.W.A., by the Grammys recently with a Lifetime Achievement Award. He wasn’t there for the ceremony, but did pull up to the actual televised awards handout that weekend. We’ll see where the road takes them next, and how much longer we’ll have to wait for Missionary. For more news and the latest updates on Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg, stay up to date on HNHH.

Snoop Dogg Admits Losing Grammy For “Gin & Juice” Hurt

Snoop Dogg says that his hit song, “Gin and Juice,” losing the award for Best Rap Solo Performance at the 1995 Grammy Awards “hurt.” However, he says that he felt better after Queen Latifah approached him to praise the song at the event. Snoop recalled the moment during his new Audible audiobook, From Tha Streets To The Suites.

“Queen Latifah approached me about that song,” Snoop Dogg explains in a snippet. “Me and her was nominated for a Grammy for [‘Gin and Juice’] against ‘U.N.I.T.Y..’ She won and I was hurt, but she was like, ‘N***a, I love ‘Gin and Juice.’ That’s my favorite shit.’ So then I got unhurt fast.”

He adds: “You know a motherfucker get hurt ’cause he lose and shit. But I’m like, damn this is the Queen, n***a. Bow down. This is the muthafuckin’ queen, and she told me that. She said: ‘But, I love ‘Gin and Juice,’ that’s my favorite shit.’ So I was like you know what? I can take that L.”

In addition to beating out Snoop’s “Gin and Juice,” Latifah won the award over Coolio‘s “Fantastic Voyage,” Craig Mack‘s, “Flava In Ya Ear,” and Warren G‘s, “This D.J.” Be on the lookout for more tidbits from Snoop’s career when From Tha Streets To The Suites drops on June 15.

From Tha Streets To The Suites isn’t the only project Snoop has in the works either. He is also preparing for the release of his upcoming album with Dr. Dre, Missionary. He first announced the project during an appearance on Stephen A. Smith’s Know Mercy podcast, last year. He said at the time: “I’ma tell you this, you’re the first one to hear this: me and Dr. Dre have been working on an album for the past two months. And it’ll be done in November. It’s produced by Dr. Dre, it’s our 30th anniversary to Doggystyle. And the name of the album is Missionary.” While there’s no release date, Snoop mentioned that it’s “coming soon,” just last week.

Snoop Dogg Reacts To AI “Gin & Juice” Mashup: “This Sh*t Is Outta Hand”

Yesterday, Snoop Dogg took to Instagram to share his reaction to an A.I. mashup of his iconic 1993 Doggystyle track, “Gin & Juice.” AI combined his track with “The Bare Necessities” from The Jungle Book, prompting a perplexed reaction from the West Coast rapper. He also recently shared an AI version of Michael Jackson singing “Down for My N****s” by C-Murder. Snoop reacted to it, saying “Wow,” and “This shit is outta hand.”

Last week, Snoop was a panelist at the 2023 Milken Institute Global Conference. The rapper discussed his experience speaking to an AI model. He shared that it “[blew] his mind,” adding “I got a motherf***in’ A.I. right now.” Snoop also talked about the state of streaming services, saying “[Streaming is] exciting but streaming gotta get their s**t together.” Going on to say he “[doesn’t] understand how the f**k you get paid off that s**t.”

Snoop Is Perplexed

On May 9, Anderson .Paak also shared a video of himself to social media, dancing along to Snoop Dogg’s performance at the Chanel Cruise Collection fashion show afterparty. The rapper was performing his song “The Next Episode,” which was originally performed alongside Dr. DreKurupt, and Nate Dogg. Earlier that week on May 6, he also appeared on the talk show “Undisputed,” where he gifted hosts Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless with Death Row Records chains. As he gave the hosts their gifts, he said “See what it do.” Adding, “Oh, rose gold for the both of ’em. Ya’ll don’t get the yellow gold. Ya’ll get the rose gold.”

Yesterday, Snoop Dogg responded to Ja Morant flashing a gun on Instagram Live. The incident then caused the player to be suspended from his team, meaning he could miss out on part of the next season. Snoop Dogg later shared a series of memes poking fun at the incident. Bronx rapper Scar Lip additionally recently shared messages between her and Snoop on Instagram, in which he agrees to collaborate with her. She writes, “Hey Snoop you think u can get on my remix?” Snoop then replied, saying, “F*ck yes.” The next slide of the post is a screenshot of the two artists FaceTiming. She captioned the post, saying they “FaceTimed and laughed.”
