Wu-Tang Clan Come Together For “Claudine” With Nicole Bus And Mathematics

Legendary rap posse Wu-Tang Clan is back with a brand-new single for the first time in a long time. In fact, it has technically been three years since their last single, “Hi.” It did receive a remix in 2021 with UNKLE. Other than that though, the New York group has stood silent. Sadly, it does not feature a ton of the members, but Method Man and Ghostface Killah do make appearances.

On the Wu-Tang Clan’s Instagram account, they began teasing a comeback of sorts. It began a little over a day ago with them sharing the cover art of the track. “Claudine coming Friday.. the saga continues..” This message confused some fans. One person said, “Is this a song, a whole album, or a movie?” Another shared the same sentiment, “Is this a f*****g record?” The cover was uploaded in black and white.

Shortly after, it donned a yellow and black color palette. Finally, on the day of its release, Wu-Tang shared the official artwork. “Claudine” also features some nice guest singing from Nicole Bus. Additionally, Mathematics brings soulful production into the mix. It is more of an emotionally charged track that talks about wishing you could spend more time with the people you care about. Those lyrics are very prevalent in Ghostface and Nicole’s sections.

Cam’ron And Ghostface Killah Recall Hilarous Past Encounter

Cam’ron and Ghostface Killah are two of New York’s finest MCs. So it’s no surprise they would be big fans of one another. A clip of the pair was put online, where they were embracing each other as well as sharing a couple of laughs. Cam even recalled a hilarious moment when he was trying to locate the Wu-Tang rapper. The encounter between the pair took place backstage at the Yankee Stadium’s Hip Hop 50 concert.

Apparently, he trekked all over NYC, hoping to meet with the rapper. “I seen that shit!” Ghostface Killah told Cam as they laughed. “A couple n*ggas was like, Cam don’t go in there, I said I’m going in,” Cam’ron recalled. “I wanted to see where Ghost lived at!” The Dipset member also revealed that he conducted his search in the early morning hours, around 3 A.M.

Apparently, Cam Looked All Around NYC For Ghostface

The pair shared some more laughs before the clip ends, and the pair plans to depart. It’s comforting to watch legends support other legends like this. In other news, Cam’ron has much to celebrate these days. The rapper, along with Rakim, LL Cool J, and Pop Smoke, will be featured on New York’s Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) new metro cards. In partnership with Universal Music, the initiative is part of a campaign entitled “Hip Hop At 50 – Honoring 50 Years of Hip Hop: A Legacy of Rhythm, Revolution, and Soul.”

On the music front, the rapper recently teased a new mixtape as well as a collaboration with Ma$e. In the clip he shared last month, the rapper seemed more than excited to share what he had been working on. “Just warming up. @itiswhatitis_talk mixtape July 28…,” he wrote in an Instagram post. “#IIWII the new DEATHROW[.] WELCOME TO THE ROW N-GGA[.] We just got to summer leauge too!! Vegas we here!!! And by da way the old MURDA BACK!!!! @rsvpmase.” Stay tuned to HNHH for more news from the music world. [WATCH] Cam And Ghostface Joke About Him “Looking” For Tony Starks In Staten Island

During a chance meeting backstage at the historic Hip Hop 50 Live concert at Yankee Stadium last weekend, Dipset general and Wu Tang Clan front man Ghostface Killah bumped heads and laughed about the time when Cam made a trip to Staten Island at “three in the morning” looking for the Wu legend.

“I seen that shit!” Ghostface Killah said as they both laughed at the nostalgic moment.

Twelve years ago, Cam took to the streets of Staten to track down Ghost just to give him his props. Cam recorded the footage of him interviewing several people who may lead him to Ironman himself.

[He’s] one of my favorites, Top 5,” he said. “To me, it’s no filter with Ghostface, he’s not faking what he’s saying to me. Like, I believe everything he says. Don’t get me wrong, it be extra shit…you can’t put everything on wax, but when he does an interview or when he talks, I believe what he’s saying.”

Ghostface Killah Returns And Taps Remy Ma For “YUPP!”

Ghostface Killah has returned to music with a new track entitled “YUPP!” featuring his fellow New Yorker, Remy Ma. The pair honors their East Coast roots but trading bars over a gritty beat. The track couldn’t come at a more perfect time, as Hip Hop celebrates its 50th anniversary this year. The song is reportedly a part of the rapper’s upcoming album, on which he’s collaborating with the media and content company Mass Appeal. This would be his first project since 2019’s Ghostface Killahs.

Coming in at just over three minutes, the rapper’s bravado is more than evident. With a career spanning over three decades, the Wu-Tang rapper continues to prove he’s still a master at getting lyrical. Remy Ma works as the perfect paring with Ghostface, as the two share such ferocity when it comes to their delivery. It makes one wonder why did we have to wait this long for the pair to collaborate.

The Track Captures The Essence Of East Coast Hip Hop

As of today, neither Ghostface nor his team have released any new information about the upcoming project. It is also unclear when or if the project will be released this year. It looks like we’ll have to wait and see. We’ll keep you posted about new music from the Staten Island rapper.

In other related news, despite releasing some new music, Ghostface’s personal life has seemed to hit a sour note. In May, the rapper’s son, Infinite Coles, took to Instagram to call Ghost “the full definition of a deadbeat” and bring forth various claims. “I haven’t had a full conversation with you or seen you in over 15 years!” he wrote in the post’s caption. “You haven’t once tried to reach out to me to see how I’m feeling or how I’m doing. I have messages that literally show me reaching out to you and receiving no response for over a DECADE!”

Quotable Lyrics:

N*ggas will rob you and take your pharmaceuticals
Gonna be a lot of slow singing at your funeral
Didn’t I tell you, savages in the night (YUPP)
And you don’t even know it’s on site (YUPP)

Today In Hip Hop History: Raekwon’s Infamous ‘Only Built 4 Cuban Linx’ Album AKA “The Purple Tape” Dropped 28 Years Ago

tumblr e0dcb67a0b5d9b5771cd794d46992965 1dd899e4 1280 1

Twenty-eight years ago today, one of the greatest conceptual albums in the history of Hip Hop was released. Raekwon The Chef released his debut album, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, guest-starring his right-hand man, Ghostface Killah aka Tony Starks.

Released on the Loud/RCA imprint and produced exclusively by The Abbott himself, Only Built For Cuban Linx was available on cassette, which was manufactured and distributed in a violet casing, thus, spawning its nickname. The album’s influence was tremendous on other landmark LPs of that era including Jay-Z’s Reasonable Doubt and Nas’ It Was Written, with heavy mafia references, the introduction of Cristal to the hood, and constant usage of the 5% Nation’s language of Supreme Mathematics and Supreme Alphabets in the lyrical content. The album also introduced the other WTC members via their aliases i.e. RZA is Bobby Steele, Ghost as “Tony Starks”, Deck is “Rollie Fingers”, Meth is, of course, “Johnny Blaze”, Masta Killa as “Noodles”, the Genius as “Maximillian” the Chef as “Lou Diamonds” and all together known as the “Wu-Gambinos”, which is the 16th track on the journey.

The Four and a Half Mic Classic’s(writer Nicholas Poluhoff) storyline plays out as a film, using many samples of John Woo’s Killer as an interlude between several tracks. The album contained several classic singles that had lives of their own in others spaces. The platinum-selling album yielded legendary hits such as the radio/female friendly “Ice Cream”, the inspirational “Glaciers Of Ice”, the genre sparking “Criminology”, which gave birth to many “Shark N****s”, which was an ode to biters and commanding them to “be original”. Ghost even shot a dart at the late B.I.G., accusing the slain legend of biting Nas’ pre-adolescent album cover concept. The album concludes with a positive build from the late Popa Wu aka Freedum Allah, which reminisces about the past life of a young, crime Raekwon who evolved into the multi-faceted individual seen today, which ironically is called “North Star(Jewels)”.

This platinum-selling time capsule is a must-have for all real Hip Hop fans, aficionados, critics, and historians. Salute to the entire Wu, especially Rae, Starks, and the RZA for this gem. We will forever be in debt to you guys for the “Purple Tape”.

Happy 53rd Birthday To Wu Tang Clan’s Ghostface Killaaaaaahhh!!!

Screen Shot 2023 05 09 at 9.50.49 AM

On this day in 1970, rapper/actor Dennis Coles aka Ghostface Killah was born. The chamber of eccentricity comes almost exclusively from Tony Starks, who has been compared to the likes of Slick Rick with his signature, six inch high eagle bracelet and other excessively gaudy jewels.

At the foundation of the Wu saga, Ghost’s face was unseen and wasn’t revealed until the Chef’s Only Built For Cuban Linx classic “Purple Tape”. With ten solid solo albums under his belt, Ghostdini continues to impact the game along with his WTC family.

The Source Magazine would like to send a super shout out to the “Ironman” of Hip Hop on his degree day! Enjoy!
