Akon Tells N.O.R.E. Why He Gave French Montana A Fake Watch

Akon is an artist who dazzled music listeners with a plethora of amazing hits. If you lived through the 2000s, then you probably remember a lot of these songs. Overall, they remain iconic in the hip-hop landscape. Simply put, Akon has classics, and there is nothing you can say that will change that. However, over the last decade, the artist has taken on various other endeavors. From bringing electricity to towns in Africa to even trying to create his own city, the man is a legend.

Although, there is one story that has plagued him throughout his career. The story involves none other than French Montana, and a fake watch. As French Montana explains it, Akon once gifted him a fake Hublot watch. Subsequently, the “Locked Up” crooner has been subjected to clowning over this gift. However, during a recent appearance on Drink Champs he was given the platform to set the record straight. As you will see, it was all just a very honest mistake.

Akon Gives The Scoop

N.O.R.E. posed the question to Akon, who was actually pretty eager to get off his answer. Essentially, he bought fake watches for himself, and French Montana. The rapper was on Canal street when he saw a guy selling Hublots. The man promised to sell him watches for $5K a piece despite the price being closer to $20K. From there, he naively bought into the deal and copped the two watches. Akon maintains that he barely knew anything about watches at the time. Instead, he simply liked them and wanted to cop. Unfortunately, he got got.

As N.O.R.E. kindly explained to Akon, you should absolutely never buy anything from Canal street. Unfortunately, the man did not know that at the time. Had he been aware, this whole saga could have been avoided. Let us know what you think about all this, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news from the hip-hop world.

French Montana Posts Up With Kim Kardashian, La La Anthony & Naomi Campbell

French Montana is enjoying a lot of success right now, and it’s not just because of his musical career. Moreover, he recently premiered his auto-biographical documentary film For Khadija, which chronicles his experience as an immigrant in the United States and honors the mother and country that defined him. Between premiere events and get-togethers, the rapper is also keeping quite busy amid a lot of big names. Recently, he posted some pictures on Instagram with the likes of Kim Kardashian, La La Anthony, Naomi Campbell, Dr. Dre, and more. Furthermore, he has a lot more to look forward to in the coming weeks as he keeps celebrating the success of his life and work.

On the red carpet premiere of his documentary, the Moroccan-American MC spoke to Page Six of his vivid struggles. “When they showed us the Empire State building- and all the buildings downtown- I thought we were going to live there,” French Montana expressed. “But when we came to the states we had to go to [the] Mott Haven projects.” Those project are in The Bronx, where he first discovered a love for hip-hop and where he experienced the highs and lows of his upbringing.

French Montana’s Star-Studded Instagram Post

“It was a whole different thing,” French Montana continued. “It was a culture shock, it was jungle rules. I went through every level of struggle, every level of disrespect, every level of not understanding- and every step that was there I was there to take. Whether it was work or school, I just had to go through it. Yeah of course I was made fun of. People would just stare at me, but man, I feel like the best teacher in life is failure. And I feel like when you come from the mud, and you have to learn everything from experience, I feel like there is no better teacher than that… I am one of those that learned from experiences.”

Meanwhile, this is far from French’s first major celebrity crossover as of late. For example, the premiere of For Khadija at the Tribeca Film Festival saw Diddy, New York’s Mayor Eric Adams, Robert DeNiro, Drake, Busta Rhymes, and many other big names attend. He was already a very successful rapper, but now it seems that he’s become much more of a leader and voice for change and progress for families everywhere. French Montana Is Selling His $23 Million Hidden Hills Mansion

Hip-hop artist French Montana is putting his Hidden Hills home on the market. He posted the mansion with a $23 million listing price. Montana bought the house three years ago for roughly one-third of his current asking price, making this a sound investment for the rapper. The previous owner, NBA superstar Paul George, sold it to French in 2020 as a pandemic sale. Iqosa Interior and Architecture Design did a massive remodel of the home, adding to the jump in value.

The mansion is, in a word, incredible. Covering 16k square feet, the house has seven bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a game room, a five-car garage, a wine cellar, and an outside tennis court. The reason behind the posting is clear: French Montana’s listing agent, Tomer Fridman, says the musical artist is looking to expand his portfolio of real estate beyond the posh L.A. neighborhood. He says French is looking for property in either Miami, New York, Paris, or somewhere else. (Might we suggest… Montana?)

Also known as Coke Boy Numero Uno, the rapper has had some pretty famous neighbors while he lived in Hidden Hills. In December, couple Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty bought a home for almost $20 million. However, current residents are unhappy with this development, causing one homeowner, Beverly Bardan, to start a petition. She titled it “SAY NO TO SEX OFFENDERS IN HIDDEN HILLS,” referring to Petty’s alleged assault during one of Minaj’s tour stops. He is currently serving a year of house detention for failing to register as a sex offender in California.

On the other hand, French Montana is leaving the neighborhood and its drama behind. He is looking forward to doing bigger and better things with his time and money. One area he’s particularly interested in is the unfair treatment of immigrants in America. He’s highlighted his own struggles with immigration into the country before. Now he advocates on behalf of those going through the same thing. With an additional $23 million in his pocket, French can potentially help a lot of people.

Young Thug, Juelz Santana, French Montana, And Other Rappers Referenced In YNW Melly Murder Trial

It’s been another busy day as updates continue to flow in from the YNW Melly double murder trial. Law & Crime reporter Bryson “Boom” Paul previously confirmed that one of the prosecution’s witnesses, Detective Danny Polo, will be removing the court-sanctioned ski mask he wore during last week’s testimony to protect his identity. Since taking off the face covering, the undercover officer has name-dropped several noteworthy rappers, including Juelz Santana and French Montana.

In one of Paul’s tweets, he shared that Polo stated that Santana is “a blood gang member.” At the time, the detective was reading a requested text message from a GBK gang member. He’s known as “Goon,” and he was reaching out to Melly’s shared phone with one of his alleged victims. Elsewhere in the same text, French Montana’s name is mentioned. However, Danny made it clear in today’s testimony that he’s unsure if the “Unforgettable” artist is gang-affiliated or not.

Detective Danny Polo’s Testimony Mentions Several Rappers During YNW Melly Trial

In another tweet approximately 30 minutes later, Paul referenced other messages sent to Melly and the late YNW SakChaser’s joint phone. Goon and an affiliate named Hurk were contacting the two young men, name-dropping other known rappers like Young Thug, Boosie Badazz, Quando Rondo, and JGreen in their texts. Interestingly, nearly every name on the list has been involved in legal trouble of their own lately, from the 40-year-old’s federal arrest earlier this month to Quando’s alleged affiliation with the Rollin’ 60s being outed during his arrest.

Speaking of Young Thug, the YSL rapper remains behind bars amid his RICO trial. Still, he managed to drop an impressive album in the form of BUSINESS IS BUSINESS this past Friday (June 23). Based on today’s first week sales projections, it’s expected to chart at No. 1 – if it can beat out the latest project from country star Morgan Wallen. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Recently, the “Shot Caller” rapper was on Sirius XM discussing legends in rap such as The Notorious B.I.G., Big Pun, and 2Pac. French Montana admits The All Eyez on Me rapper was a big influence on him before he migrated to America.

”I was listening to that when I didn’t even know English. I was listening to it in Africa. It was the first album I ever bought. I felt his pain, his passion, I felt his comeback, and I didn’t even understand English. I felt it was that powerful, and it was that spiritual, and it was bigger than music. That’s when I felt that, you know, music is the only language that everybody speaks in the world.”

More details of his relationship with Hip Hop will be revealed in the documentary at the Tribeca Film Festival. DeNiro started the prestigious film festival in 2001 to revive the spirit around the film industry after the 9/11 terrorist attacks. The New York Tribeca Film Festival runs from June 7th-June 18th in Manhattan. The Goodfellas actor will present ”For Khakija” on June 16th. What a time for French Montana.

French Montana Had To Mediate His Kids’ Hilarious Debate Over Ice Spice And Latto

If you’re a parent, odds are you’ve been unexpectedly forced to play referee to your kids’ debates and apparently, that doesn’t change if you’re a famous rapper. French Montana was recently pulled into mediating one of Twitter’s hottest discourses at dinner with his sons after one of his friends who was with them insisted “Latto is better than Ice Spice.” French, who was just trying to get a cute video congratulating his recently graduated son, was surprised into having to pick a side — and promptly sidestepped a potentially sticky situation (he might want to collaborate with either or both one day, after all).

“Nah, never,” he says in the video. “They both equal.” The boys then playfully flirted with the rappers on camera, joking, “Hit my phone!” and “Get Latto to hit me up!”

The two rappers have been pitted against each other frequently on Twitter, mainly as a result of Latto’s recent disagreement with Nicki Minaj. When Nicki collaborated with Ice Spice on her remix of “Princess Diana,” the Barbz took it as an opportunity to use Ice Spice as a proxy in their everlasting intifada against anyone who would dare speak ill of their Queen. When Latto apparently lashed out at Nicki in her song “Put In On Da Floor,” they took pains to stretch as many of those lyrics as they could to encompass Ice Spice as well. (For what it’s worth, Ice Spice is a bit of a lightning rod for comparison these days in general.)

However, neither rapper has ever displayed any public indication of a disagreement, and while the Barbz love to compare them, they’re both in completely separate portions of their respective careers (Ice Spice has yet to drop her debut album; Latto is promoting album number three). The obvious solution is for everybody involved to join in on Coi Leray’s idea of a “Ladies’ Night” remake, showing solidarity instead of fanning the flames. It’s unlikely, but hey, stranger things have happened.
