On Monday, Francis Ngannou, the former UFC champion, revealed the passing of his 15-month-old son Kobe. After alluding to his son’s passing in a social media post earlier on Monday, Ngannou confirmed the tragic news. Responding to the post, Ngannou’s coach, Eric Nicksick, asked fans to keep Ngannou and his family “in your heart.” The news is devastating, and the fighting world has openly given its support to Ngannou and his family during this difficult time.

Ngannou competed in the UFC for six years, from 2015 to 2021, earning a 17-3 record during that time. In an incredible triumph at UFC 260 in 2021, he defeated Stipe Miocic to win the heavyweight title in the UFC. In January 2022, he triumphed against Ciryl Gane via unanimous decision at UFC 270, effectively defending his title. After beating Gane, Ngannou did not sign a new contract with the UFC and has not competed in the Octagon since. He has since entered the world of boxing.

In a heartbreaking post, Francis Ngannou said of his son’s passing, “Too soon to leave but yet he’s gone,” Ngannou wrote. “My little boy, my mate, my partner Kobe was full of life and joy. Now he’s laying without life. I shouted his name over and over but he’s not responding.” He continued, “How do you deal with such a thing? How can you live with it? Please help me if you have an idea because I really don’t know what to do and how to deal with this.” it is a tragic and heartbreaking development for the supremely talented heavyweight.

Following the loss of his son, Francis Ngannou is receiving support from the fighting community. On Monday, a number of combat sports celebrities, including Anthony Joshua and Manny Pacquiao, sent their thoughts and condolences to Ngannou. Pacquiao said he can’t imagine the “pain and struggle” Ngannou is going through. Anthony Joshua added, “May the memories you shared bring you comfort.” Ngannou faced Joshua in the boxing ring recently. Joshua defeated Ngannou by knockout in March. The rapper lost $615K after former MMA star Francis Ngannou suffered a brutal second-round knockout at the hands of former boxing world champion Anthony Joshua. Unlike his previous fight against Tyson Fury, Ngannou was never able to hang with Joshua. He was floored twice before Joshua was able to hit a clean uppercut that rendered Ngannou unconscious. The fighter had been administered oxygen after being roused.

“On the route to the championship, you should always stay focused. This was me stepping aside from that mission. But when I saw [Ngannou] and the fight against Tyson Fury, I was like, ‘Damn, this guy can fight,’ so I said I need a piece of that. He’s an inspiration. He’s a great champion. This doesn’t take away anything of his capabilities because in boxing it’s one or the other. He can come again,” Joshua said after the fight.

Buffalo is a common tour stop for musicians due to its size and promixity to Canada. The city is around 28 miles from the Canadian border. Francis Ngannou Wants To Prioritize Tyson Fury Rematch

Francis Ngannou has confirmed that he will not appeal the result of his fight against Tyson Fury and will instead push for a rematch as soon as possible. “The rematch is what I want next the most. As for right now I feel like there is a lot of options for me, but I want to choose wisely, and I would go for the rematch first,” Ngannou told TMZ. Ngannou defied the odds to earn a split decision loss to Fury in their fight last weekend. Even Fury gave the former MMA fighter props. “He’s given me probably one of my toughest fights in the last 10 years. He’s a good boxer, He’s a lot better than I thought he’d be and he gave me a good fight,” Fury said after the bout.

Despite Fury having just set a date next February for his historic unification bout against Oleksandr Uysk, Ngannou wants his rematch first. “My best scenario in boxing is to wait for Fury. If Usyk can step out and let me fight Fury, I’ll fight Fury, then I’ll let them do whatever they do. I’ll go back, maybe do some MMA fight and come back with some people in boxing,” Ngannou explained.

Ngannou Not Appealing Fight Result

Furthermore, Ngannou shot down any notion that he would be appealing the fight result. “Who am I gonna appeal to? [The British Boxing Commission]? I have no chance. Tyson Fury was able to overcome a knockdown to defeat Francis Ngannou via split decision on Saturday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Fury secured tallies of 96-93 and 95-94 from two of the judges while Ngannou got one judge to tally 95-94. The loss for Ngannou marked his pro boxing debut in his first fight overall since January 2022.

“I might have come up short today, I might be wounded but I can bite, I’m just a fighter and I’m ready to fight any time soon,” he said afterward. “We can run it back soon and I’m sure I can do better. This was my first boxing match, I’m not making excuses but I can come back even stronger.”

Fury spoke about the fight afterward, praising Ngannou. “That definitely wasn’t in the script,” he said, as noted by The Athletic. “He’s a hell of a fighter and a hell of a lot better boxer than we thought he would be. He’s given me one of my toughest fights of the last ten years.” Of the knockdown specifically, he added: “I was caught behind the head for the knockdown. However, Ngannou was unfazed by Fury’s behavior. “I have played this game so long. This can’t get to me. It’s part of the game. We’re going to take a couple of minutes at the beginning, but I think this fight will end very quick,” the PFL star claimed. Both men are set to make bank from the fight, with Fury’s purse reportedly hitting $50 million.

However, the fight is little more than a warm-up for the main event in the eyes of Fury. Last month, sources told ESPN that Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk had signed fight contracts for this winter. Earlier this year, frequent collaborators Skrillex and Fred Again.. welcomed UK artist Flowdan on “Rumble,” released in January with the video arriving in May. Skrillex and Flowdan are certainly ready to rumble in their latest single, “Pepper,” and this time, Lil Baby joined the party.

The Courtney Phillips-directed, London Alley-produced “Pepper” video opens with Francis Ngannou sparring with a rock before a fierce leopard arrives and flashes its fangs. Elsewhere Flowdan overlooks a city at night, rapping, “Take a walk with the full moon / We’re all button and zipped up / It’s all kickin’ off soon / Let’s stay real quick, bruv / I don’t know about your goons / ‘Round here, everything lift up / Whether it’s draw, win, or lose / None of my friend dem give up.”

Next, we find Lil Baby in a control room of sorts. That footage is spliced and juxtaposed with a motorcycle street race and a young man in a diner noticing news on the television, reading, “NGANNOU TRAINING IN SAUDI ARABIA.” Baby raps, “Told you you can’t f*ck with us, you shoulda knew it, yeah / We gon’ do the most, yes / Foot all on them throats, yes.”

As news of Ngannou’s fight with Tyson Fury spreads, the song briefly pauses so we can hear Cristiano Ronaldo’s prediction at a press conference: “Next question!” And then, Skrillex’s innovative and textured production takes over, with Flowdan’s grime flow soundtracking Ngannou sprinting through a desert and spars at the ocean floor. “Battle of the baddest, only one of us leavin,’” Flowdan says to punctuate it all, as the leopard growls and closes in on the camera.
