TI Recalls Hearing Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” For The 1st Time At Usher’s House

TI says that he was at a barbecue at Usher’s house when he heard Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” for the first time. He detailed the moment the party caught wind of the diss track during a recent interview on Big Boy’s Neighborhood.

T.I. began by revealing that he’s been hearing the song played in the clubs. “I was at Usher’s house. We were having a little get-together. A barbecue or what have you,” he began. He added: “Any social circle you gather during that time period, that’s gonna be the conversation. So everybody was, just as you said, listening to the records as they dropped.” He then explained that as they were listening to “Family Matters,” T.I. noticed that “Not Like Us” dropped. “Those are moments that hip-hop created,” he said. From there, he revealed that they all went to the club and both diss tracks played. “It all stimulates the attention of this thing that we do, what we know and love so much. So, I think that any time you got two giants in a field that are worthy opponents, you know that can match wits with one another, I feel like it’s gon’ be good for the game,” he said.

While he does feel its good for the game of hip-hop, he did, however, add: “I will say this, they done kinda f**ked it up for some other people who were planning to drop, you know what I’m saying, in this period. I think the people were like, ‘D**n, I was gon’ drop but, you know, let me just see this through.’” Check out his full comments on the matter below.

Layzie Bone Isn’t Enjoying Kendrick Lamar & Drake’s Beef: “I’m A Fan Of Both Of Theirs”

Layzie Bone says he isn’t enjoying the battle between Kendrick Lamar and Drake and says hip-hop beefs in general are “counterproductive.” He discussed the feud during a recent appearance on The Maikon Show as caught by HipHopDX.

“I totally don’t like [Kendrick and Drake’s beef] because I’m a fan of both of theirs,” Layzie began, “I love Drake. I really, really admire Drake, I think his wordplay is immaculate. The music he put out is dope. I love Kendrick Lamar. Really love Kendrick Lamar. I would rather see them come together as a force as opposed to tearing down. I know a lot of people say [Hip Hop] was built on beef and all that – yeah, cool fine and dandy but I saw what that did to N.W.A. I’m cut from that cloth. I was fortunate enough to be a kid on the block living that life, that story they was telling. Having that be my favorite group and then that time they spent beefing and wasting.”

He continued: “I also got to see Eazy-E wanting to put his group back together but they couldn’t because they wasted so many times and he ended up passing away. I saw what it did to Biggie and Pac. It’s divisive. To me, it’s counterproductive to where we could really be. It’s cool, I could battle rap. I could write a rap about you and what I think is funny and make people laugh or humiliate you and try to make you seen in a light that you don’t wanna see yourself in. But I don’t feel like… Maybe I’m older. But it’s not a place that I wanna be in because if you really gon’ beef, I think you should try boxing or MMA or something like that. Really get it in and then go have a beer about it.” Elsewhere in the interview, Layzie discusses his mother passing away, his personal life, and more. Check it out below.

Layzie is far from the first voice in hip-hop to voice their disappointment in the beef. Charlamagne Tha God, Big Daddy Kane, and more have also spoken negatively about the situation. Be on the lookout for further updates on Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s feud on HotNewHipHop.

Soulja Boy Apologizes To Metro Boomin For Making Fun Of His Late Mother, Says He’s Going To Therapy

Soulja Boy has apologized to Metro Boomin for bringing up his late mother in several posts on Twitter in recent days. Additionally, he says he’s going to start going to therapy. He started going after the producer in response to a resurfaced tweet from 2012 in which he threw shade his way. “I apologize to @MetroBoomin for over reacting over an old tweet,” Soulja began on Wednesday. “Condolences to his mom. I’m going to seek therapy and anger management. I’m done responding to hate, new or old.”

When The Neighborhood Talk shared the post on Instagram, fans weren’t quick to forgive Soulja. “This isn’t funny. It’s disgusting. His mother was murdered in cold blood by someone who was supposed to love her. And on top of that he took his own life so Metro will never get justice,” one user wrote. Another added: “Some things even apologies can’t fix.”

As for Metro’s old post in question, he had written: “My phone rings to come to the studio with Jeezy. Yours rings to send Soulja Boy a pack of beats. Sit down.” Soulja was furious when he discovered the remark. “You sacrificed your own mom @MetroBoomin you a puppet,” Soulja wrote at one point on Mother’s Day. “All the streams, sales, money, and fame not gone bring your mom back @MetroBoomin was it worth it? I can say f*ck this money and fame sh*t and still be a boss can you?” Check out his apology to Metro below.

Big Daddy Kane Blames Fans For Making Drake & Kendrick Lamar’s Feud “Unenjoyable”

Big Daddy Kane hasn’t been keeping up with Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s ongoing feud and says the fanbases have made it “unenjoyable.” He discussed the battle of diss tracks during a recent interview with The Art of Dialogue, explaining his issues with the situation. Each artist has dropped several songs in the time since Lamar kicked things off with his verse on “Like That,” back in March.

“I was trying to keep up with the Kendrick and Drake thing but I kinda lost interest,” the legendary rapper admitted. “It just wasn’t exciting to me — not because of them two, but because of the fanbase. The fanbase just made it to where, I’m good.”

He continued: “It’s not a competitive thing about who spit the better bars. It’s a thing about fact-checking to see if this person told the truth. It’s like, if the line is dope and he dissed you, it’s dope, it’s that simple […] Why are we trying to critique and decipher what was said? It’s just a dope rhyme. Enjoy the music, man, for what it is. It just wasn’t for me. It’s not about Kendrick or Drake; it’s the fanbase, the listeners and their comments and their views. They make it unenjoyable for me.” Check out Kane’s full comments on the situation below.

Kane isn’t the only veteran in the rap game to express their disappointment in the feud. Rapsody Argues Kendrick Lamar’s Strategy Won Him The Battle Over Drake

Rapsody reflected on Kendrick Lamar and Drake’s recent feud during a conversation on The Joe Budden Podcast on Monday. In doing so, she and Budden discussed how Lamar’s strategy in the beef helped him come out on top.

The conversation began with Budden suggesting that Lamar’s “6:16 in LA” diss is the most underrated from the battle. “It was so smart,” Rapsody said. “Drake, he swung back. I didn’t think it was enough. But he swung back. I wasn’t mad at the swings. But whatever he could’ve said, Kendrick was so strategic. He swallowed that sh*t up so fast because he responded so fast. And then he hit you with a banger.”

Everybody like, ‘He got three weeks.’ I was like, ‘He in there cooking over and over and over again.’” From there, Budden joked about Drake fans getting impatient waiting for a response to “Push Ups” from Lamar. Rapsody then mentioned how long Nas took to respond to JAY-Z’s “Takeover” with his own iconic diss, “Ether.” Check out the full conversation below.

Meek had been venting about the current media landscape in a series of posts when he wrote: “They all post bad about me because I don’t pay none of them. Uncle Luke Reflects On Failure To Broker Peace Between Biggie & 2Pac: “It Was A little Too Late”

Uncle Luke recently recalled trying to help squash the infamous beef between 2Pac and Biggie during its height in the 1990s. Speaking with fans on Instagram Live recently, he said he once attended a concert with Biggie, during which the crowd trolled him by requesting 2Pac songs.

“I remember when 2Pac and Biggie had the beef going on. Now, mind you, I tried to get in the middle of it and squash it,” he said, as caught by Live Bitez. “I kinda cooled it off, but it was a little too late. Outside people got involved. Man, I remember going to St. Louis doing a show with Biggie. I went on before him and by the time he got to the stage, them people were screaming ‘2Pac.’ They was singing 2Pac songs. That is the most discouraging thing when you in a battle, when you in the heat of a battle on tour, that people would go to the stadium and don’t even wanna hear your songs.”

Biggie and 2Pac’s beef was one of the most infamous in hip-hop history. The two, along with the East Coast and West Coast respectively, went at one another throughout the ’90s. The two rappers were both killed in drive-by shootings within six months of each other. Check out Uncle Luke’s recollection of the feud below.

Azealia Banks Says Kendrick Lamar’s “D*ck Is Trash,” Labels Him The “Most Boring Rapper Ever”

Azealia Banks went off on Kendrick Lamar on Instagram, Sunday night, labeling him the “most boring rapper ever.” Discussing his feud with Drake, she argued that he made no interesting points across his several diss tracks. She also brought up Rick Ross and Kanye West for feuding with the Toronto rapper.

“Kendrick’s d*ck is wild trash,” she wrote in the caption. “Everybody gotta stop acting like all the rap n****s don’t have work done. Kanye has the biggest apple bottom in hiphop history. Rick Ross (I love u) but u have horrible veneers, had a gastric sleeve and gastric bypass, AND ARE STILL SELLING ALCOHOL?!?! you could have just called me I would have fixed it for you the natural way. This is ultimately all about Kendrick’s short man short d*ck insecurities. Why call Drake a pedophile when 17 is the legal age of consent, and in many states, it’s 16!!! Why isn’t Kendrick calling about Biden whose daughter revealed that he would come into the shower with her at NINE YEARS OLD, for using his song for political promotion? Yall stupid if u think any points were made.”

It’s not the first time Banks has commented on the viral beef. Earlier this month, she shared an article from Billboard suggesting that Lamar’s track, “euphoria,” was worth the wait. In response, she remarked “No it was not!” and declared Drake the winner. “Kendrick is still 4’9″ and wears the same jean size as me,” she said. “No one on earth cares about the feelings of small fake gangsta nepo babies. @billboard y’all really are paid for. Even the tone and timber of Kendrick’s voice is an ultimate defeat. LOL STOP LYING. And that beat Kendrick is rapping on is dumb trash and the mix is muddy as hell. Quit the bulls**t. Drake won.
