Jason Derulo’s Most Streamed Songs

Jason Derulo songs have been very popular in the pop world. His music burst onto the scene when EDM and Pop went hand in hand. His songs were everywhere and rightfully so. They brought happiness to people and were easy to dance to. Their accessibility is why they were used in commercials and other mass market situations. Even the way he said his name in songs was memorable. This is something that has truly never left many people’s minds. For some, most of his music is nostalgic because it released when they were younger with less responsibilities. Some of his songs are classics in many people’s eyes for this exact reason. We’ve compiled his 10 most streamed songs and you’re definitely going to find some of those nostalgic tracks on this list.

#10 Saturday/Sunday – Jason Derulo, David Guetta

This is one of the most recent Jason Derulo songs on this list. Lately, many people are sampling very popular songs from the past. The sample is often instantly recognizable and draws people in. Jason Derulo uses that technique with the chorus of this song. David Guetta’s production brings an EDM tone to it for 2023. Like most songs in this genre, the drop is what people wait for. The pulsing drums come in and it makes it hard to not move in some way when this happens. Jason’s vocals sound light and fun as interlopes the hook from “Saturday Love” by Cherrelle and Alexander O’Neal. The song has a danceable tone to it that also makes it ideal for working out too. The fact these two worked together again in 2023 was quite a big deal for fans.

#9 Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat) [BTS Remix] – Jawsh 685, BTS, Jason Derulo

There are three versions of this song. The first one, was an instrumental song by New Zealand producer Jawh 685 titled “Laxed – Siren Beat”. The second one, featured Jason Derulo. The third, featured BTS and Jason Derulo. For BTS fans, seeing yet another song reach huge success was a joy for them. However, there’s some controversy attached to this one. When the music video for the song was released, Jason Derulo did not initially credit BTS or Jawsh 685. This made BTS fans upset. Fortunately, he later fixed it. The song has a melody that goes well with its earworm of a hook. Naturally, the song’s bilingual aspects are a big draw as the BTS members use Korean and English in their verses. This is a collaboration that brought new listeners to listeners of BTS and Jason Derulo.

#8 Acapulco – Jason Derulo

This is a fairly recent Jason Derulo song that dropped in 2021. It’s on the shorter side at just over two minutes. This encourages fans to listen to it back-to-back and even a third time if they want. On this song, he uses a slight accent at times to fit the theme of the song. Acapulco is a city in Mexico and Jason alludes to the beach resort town in the song. The melody of the song lines up with Jason’s vocal delivery exactly. The entire song has a fun and upbeat atmosphere. Additionally, the lyrics in both verses follow the same flow which make them easy to remember and sing along with. Perhaps the icing on the cake for the theme is the sound of ocean waves at the beginning of the song.

#7 Whatcha Say – Jason Derulo

This is one Jason Derulo’s songs many people consider a classic. This one was on Jason Derulo’s debut album from 2010. To celebrate its 10 year anniversary, the album was re-released in 2020. For many people, this song was their introduction to his music. He made sure people knew his name on this one since he said it at the beginning. Furthermore, the song’s hook is probably what people think of when they hear the song. This portion is a sample of “Hide and Seek” by Imogen Heap. Jason’s verses are a response to it and the song tells a story. The instruments in the song combine keys and what sounds like trumpets and create a layered atmosphere. This one is not as direct with its danceability in comparison to some of his other songs.

#6 Talk Dirty – Jason Derulo feat. 2 Chainz

When pop artists work with rappers, it can go one of two ways. People either latch on to it or dismiss it. This was another nostalgic one for many but calling it a “classic” may be a reach for many of them. Still, this song does have an iconic part that many people remember. It’s not really a “drop” like EDM music has but everything does shift for something: a saxophone. The saxophone’s melody comes in with the hook which makes it stick out easily. This part may sound a little dated for some if you’re listening in 2023. This Jason Derulo song is very hook centric too as his actual verses are minimal. 2 Chainz’s is longer and fits in with the theme well. This one is the opening and title track of the album it’s on.

#5 1,2 3, – Sofia Reyes feat. Jason Derulo and De La Ghetto

English-speaking artists collaborating with Hispanic ones is something we’ve been seeing for years. These days, the Hispanic artist is able to burst onto the American scene without a collaboration. Or, the English-speaking artists feature on their song instead of vice versa. This is the case with this Jason Derulo song. The song is bilingual with Sofia’s verse using English and Spanish. De La Ghetto’s verse is essentially in Spanish completely aside from a few ad-libs. Jason’s verse is brief and also bilingual. He appears again on the song’s hook and provides background vocalizations. The song itself has the bounce that many Hispanic led pop songs have. Traditional instruments like guitars combine with traditional and programmed drums to create a fun dance atmosphere.

#4 Take You Dancing – Jason Derulo

Pop music has been using double entendres and innuendos for years. Pop music is meant to be accessible for all and with these methods, songs can be played in multiple settings. This Jason Derulo song uses this technique although due to one line it’s not exactly cleverly “hidden”. Still, it’s got a hook with repeated vocalizations that stick in listeners’ minds. For some, it makes them think of “Tom’s Diner” by Suzanne Vega which used a similar technique. The keys and guitar in the song give the song a lighthearted tone and the strings that come in make it a little more interesting. Jason goes into his higher register throughout the song too which is common but still appreciated by listeners.

#3 Want to Want Me – Jason Derulo

This Jason Derulo song is another one that was very popular when it released. It has a pleasant atmosphere and would be fitting on a sunny day. This one was used in compilation videos on social media a lot or for positive segments on daytime shows. Once again, Jason mostly uses his higher register for his vocal delivery. This compliments the tone of the song well. His background vocalizations are a little more understated in this one. However, they still serve as an additional melody to the song. They come in at the end of the hook in the background. Furthermore, this is another hook centric song in his discography. The verses are short and the hook is easy to sing along with which was its purpose.

#2 Savage Love (Laxed – Siren Beat) – Jawsh 685, Jason Derulo

This one is the Jason Derulo version of the #9 song on this list. With only him on vocals, the second verse on the song is different. However, the first one is still used on the BTS remix as it was here. With Jason only doing the vocals here, the song is also slightly shorter, This does not mean we hear the instrumental for any longer amount of time either though. In fact, the instrumental itself is the exact same. Jawsh 685 didn’t feel the need to change it and this decision makes sense. Jason’s high register vocals are on display even more prominently here and fit the song well. For this one, the real triumph is how much attention and success it brought to Jawsh 685 as this is his #1 most streamed song.

#1 Swalla – Jason Derulo feat. Nicki Minaj and Ty Dolla $ign

We haven’t specified the stream count for any of these songs but this one is worth mentioning. It’s over one billion. This makes sense considering Nicki Minaj is one of the features on it. Also, Ty Dolla $ign is always a big draw when he’s featured. Out of all the songs up here, this one is the most rap centric. Jason still sings while Ty Dolla does a rap-sing flow and Nicki raps. The hook interlopes a classic hip-hop song “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” by ODB. The song’s subject matter is an obvious innuendo. However, the song’s island based production makes it ideal for that setting and it’s still danceable. The music video showcased the former with colors as bright as the song’s atmosphere is.

Do any of these Jason Derulo songs give you nostalgia? Let us know in the comments section.

The Weeknd’s Albums, Ranked

The Weeknd is one of music’s biggest names. His catalog is fairly extensive and includes a combination of studio albums and mixtapes. One way The Weeknd differs from other popular artists of the recent age is that most people see his mixtapes as regular albums. This speaks to the quality and diversity of the Canadian singer’s music. Some of his mixtapes even rank above the studio albums in the eyes and ears of many fans.

The Weeknd released his first studio album in 2013 with Kiss Land. This album followed three mixtapes, released from 2011 until 2012. Despite the earlier work, most of the world first gravitated to The Weeknd in 2015 when he signed with Republic Records. This year brought his album, Beauty Behind The Madness, which included the smash single Can’t Feel My Face. Currently, The Weeknd has five studio albums, multiple EPs and mixtapes, and soundtrack appearances. The latest is that his remix to Die For You with Ariana Grande debuted at number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in March of this year.

Ranking The Weeknd’s albums can be difficult as the singer has an incredible music catalog. However, based on fan reactions and overall sales, these are the weekend’s best albums, and mixtapes ranked from worst to best. Here are The Weeknd’s best albums, ranked.

‘House Of Balloons’ From 2011

Though not one of his studio albums, many consider the 2011 mixtape House of Balloons the Weeknd’s best work. This collection of songs debuted before the Weeknd was who he is now. At the time, no one really knew the singer. In addition, this was a time when R&B was rediscovering its identity and needed something new. House of Balloons has been called an intense album. It details a drug-fueled bender between two lovers in a way many music fans had never heard before. The Weeknd’s House of Balloons is a must-listen for people who like experimental R&B. On the list of The Weeknd’s albums, ranked, this one is the best.

‘Thursday’ From 2011

Thursday came mere months from the release of House of Balloons. The album is often seen as a continuation. On it, he sings about pain and not wanting to succumb to the forces around him. The album involves themes of addiction, toxic love, and simply wanting to survive it all. Again, this was before people really knew The Weeknd, which means he had more room to be vulnerable.

‘After Hours’ From 2020

Critics believe After Hours to be The Weeknd’s first major studio album to fully capture the singer’s best. According to many, there are no skips on the album. In addition, it’s the perfect blend of his mixtape days and his more mainstream sound. Famously, the album had no featured artists and included the number 1 hit single, Heartless. Of course, After Hours also has Blinding Lights, which was inescapable. The song still holds up in the years since its release. The Weeknd’s After Hours is easily one of his best albums. This one could easily be ranked higher, but his overall catalog is impeccable.

‘Beauty Behind The Madness’ From 2015

For some, Beauty Behind The Madness was their introduction to The Weeknd. He had gained a following up until now, but this album catapulted him into superstardom. The Weeknd started the album rollout with the song Often as the lead single. After this came hits like The Hills and Can’t Feel My Face. It was the ladder that had worldwide appeal and really took off. This wasn’t only a hit for the day. Instead, it’s still a song that people go back to. Despite the subject matter of Can’t Feel My Face, the song even won a Kid’s Choice Award.

‘Dawn FM’ From 2022

It’s rare for artists to release multiple albums in a year. However, The Weeknd started working on Dawn FM in the early days of the pandemic. He wanted to provide the world with music that reminded people of going outside. In many ways, the album was intended to be an escape from the harsh realities of being in quarantine. However, it’s also a concept album that tells a deep story about going to the afterlife. Though not his best, Dawn FM is a solid body of work that came during depressing times.

‘Starboy’ From 2016

Starboy has a lot of fans, but it’s also not a favorite album by most of his R&B lovers. With this body of work, he continued to show that he’s an artist who likes to cast a broad net. It’s mostly pop. Some would probably say it’s his poppiest album. Not only that, it’s the one from The Weeknd’s catalog that has the most comparison to The King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson. Starboy may not have produced the biggest hits from his career, but it’s still an album every fan of The Weeknd should listen to. This is especially true of people who want to gain insight into the mysterious singer through his lyrics.

‘My Dear Melancholy’ From 2018

My Dear Melancholy is the 2018 EP from The Weeknd. While a solid body of work, many see it as more of a shortened rehash of his first mixtape. Because of this, many have disregarded it since they could simply listen to the original tape. It has fan-favorite songs such as Wasted Times and Hurt You, but it’s really not one of his more popular works, nor is it his best. Of course, most forgive this because he produced some of his best work after. Still, it’s an album that could shift places in a ranking of The Weeknd’s albums.

‘Echoes of Silence’ From 2011

Echoes of Silence is the last of The Weeknd’s pre-fame mixtapes. It continues his legacy of being music’s experimental sad boy. In addition, he makes references to Michael Jackson that really show his versatility as an artist. Though lower on the list than most of his studio albums, this mixtape is essential listening for the Weeknd fans and casual listeners alike. Standout tracks on Echoes of Silence include XO and Montreal.

‘Kiss Land’ From 2013

The Weeknd’s first studio album was Kiss Land. He described the album as similar to his trilogy of mixtapes but set in different places. On the trilogy, he was mostly confined to one room regarding the themes of the songs. However, despite still being a contemplative album, this one is a bit more friendly to general listeners. On the ranking of The Weeknd’s best albums, Kiss Land comes in last. All of The Weeknd’s albums and mixtapes are well-received, but an artist’s debut studio album is always special.

The Best Super Bowl Halftime Shows

The Super Bowl Halftime Show is sometimes called “the world’s biggest stage” This is because millions of people watch the Super Bowl every year. These include people watching for the game itself, the commercials or just the halftime show. In the past, the Super Bowl Halftime Show was not always a Billboard charting artist. In fact, it may not have even been a traditional musical artist at all. Oftentimes, a matching band would be the frontrunner or the only performer. This changed in the 1990s. Since then, the Halftime Show performances have become bigger and bigger with multiple artists performing in the 12 (or so) minute time limit. We’ve gathered a list of ten performances that we think truly took advantage of being on “the world’s biggest stage”.

#10 Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar feat. Anderson Paak. and 50 Cent – Super Bowl 56, 2022

When these artists were announced as performers, it was a very popular topic on social media. With each of them having a multitude of hits in their discography, people wondered how the time limit would be utilized. Once the night of the performance arrived, people saw if their predictions paid off. The stage was a replica of a house and the artists performed on top of, inside and in front of it. Kendrick and his backup dancers had exceptional choreography and Mary J Blige’s vocals and dancing were excellent. Dre and Snoop showed their age a little but still looked to be having a ton of fun. For many viewers, this was an excellent group to showcase several eras of hip-hop/rap and blend old and new school.

#9 Justin Timberlake feat. The Tennessee Kids and the University of Minnesota Marching Band – Super Bowl 52, 2018

Justin Timberlake has been performing for years and has proven he’s very good at it. His performance took full advantage of the space he was in as he moved from area to area throughout the stadium. Before he even made his way to the main stage, he was in what looked like a small performance venue. Making his way through the crowd and up the stairs, he was singing and dancing the entire time. He then moved to a runway-like stage and then a mini stage before heading to the main large stage. This gave his performance a sense of creative immersion with his movement. Throughout all this movement, Justin let some of the backing track do the work as he ad-libbed and talked to the crowd. This performance was a redemption of sorts for the infamous 2004 situation.

#8 Boyz II Men, Smokey Robinson, Martha Reeves, The Temptations and Queen Latifah feat. Grambling State University Marching Band – Super Bowl 32, 1998

This one was special because it celebrated 40 years of Motown. Each act performed one of their hits on the label and Queen Latifah put a modern spin on a classic. During the performance, there were giant sheets that looked like records that rotated on the field. This imagery was creative and captured the theme of the tribute well.  There was even an intro with various celebrities from the year singing “The Way You Do the Things You Do” by The Temptations. This part is nostalgic for those who remember seeing those people everywhere. Even though some acts were a little older, their vocals still sounded just as good as they did in the past. Seeing their coordinated outfits and choreography was a joy to those who remembered them from the past. It also helped showcase history to the younger viewers and maybe even got them interested in learning more about Motown.

#7 Bruno Mars feat. Red Hot Chili Peppers – Super Bowl 48, 2014

Bruno Mars is prioritizing his duo with Anderson .Paak titled Silk Sonic these days. However, many know he had an excellent solo career before this. The throwback sound and imagery was still present years ago. Bruno’s hair, dancing and outfits for himself and his bandmates all line up with the music he’s performing. Surprisingly, he actually began his performance with a drum solo that built on “Locked Out Of Heaven”.  After starting off with this much high energy, it was only right he kept it going. It continued when Red Hot Chili Peppers came out and they brought even more energy as Bruno sang along with their frontman Anthony Kiedis. In an effort to perhaps cool everyone – including himself – down, Bruno ended his performance with “Just The Way You Are” one of his most intimate songs. This showed the range of talent he had as a performer well.

#6 Lady Gaga – Super Bowl 51, 2017

Lady Gaga is someone that can put on a spectacle. From her outfits for award shows to her performances, she was known for being eye-catching. Her Super Bowl performance showcased these aspects and took advantage of the setting without a doubt. Her performance began with her at the literal top of the stadium. Red, white and blue drones floated in the sky behind her forming an American flag as she sang “God Bless America” and “This Land Is Your Land” Following this, she jumped from the platform and floated through the air on wires and even did some flips/rotations. After this solo display, she joined costumed dancers for choreography that she did right along with them. She even found time to do an outfit change amongst everything happening. The fact she never truly lost her breath and still sounded excellent live is a testament to her commitment to putting on a show.

#5 Coldplay feat. Beyonce and Bruno Mars – Super Bowl 50, 2016

For many viewers Beyonce and Bruno Mars stole the show this year. And “stole” was a good or bad thing depending on who you ask. This one was unique because it had a “battle” between Beyonce and Bruno Mars. Bruno’s “Uptown Funk” led into Beyonce’s “Formation” and the two came face-to-face at the end of her song. Each artist’s backup dancers went up against each other before joining together for a reprise of “Uptown Funk” that included Coldplay’s frontman Chris Martin. After this the trio transitioned into Coldplay’s “Up&Up” and everyone’s background dancers joined together on stage. Fans in the stadium had boards they held up that when combined formed a rainbow of colors that also read “Believe In Love” For many viewers, this was an excellent example of different artists coming together to create something that was truly a performance.

#4 Beyonce feat. Destiny’s Child – Super Bowl 47, 2013

Beyonce is someone whose performance skills are well documented. Something that stuck out immensely during her performance were the visuals. The stage had multiple digital effects that enhanced her performance and utilized different camera angles to display it in the best way. Some portions had an overhead camera angle as kaleidoscope-esque images of Beyonce dancing roasted around the stage. At other moments, a traditional horizontal view was used as a rectangular screen had replicas of Beyonce performing choreography while she performed it live. However, the biggest surprise of the night was the reunion of Beyonce’s former group, Destiny’s Child. Members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams literally burst through the stage to the shock of everyone. They joined Beyonce for their group hits “Bootylicious“ and “Independent Women, Pt. 1”. They also gave her backup vocal support on one of her solo anthems “Single Ladies” After lots of choreography, Beyonce concluded her set with “Halo” a song that puts her vocals on full display.

#3 Michael Jackson – Super Bowl 27,1993

Michael Jackson’s Super Bowl entrance is the most iconic one of all time. He started “inside” one of the jumbotrons, “flew” out of it, and “teleported” to another one and flew out of it too. Then, he burst through the center stage and posed while the crowd cheered merely because of his presence for two minutes. This was also a performance where the audience’s participation was essential to the show. There were people with boards on the field of the stadium that had choreographed movements as Michael performed. However, when he performed “Heal The World” it was the audience’s turn. They held up boards that formed a huge picture of children of different colors holding hands. A children’s choir performed “We Are The World” before this. Michael used these songs because he wanted the world to hear his message of love, peace and unity.

#2 The Weeknd – Super Bowl 55, 2021

The Weeknd began his performance on top of a city skyline. Once he descended there was a smaller multi-tier skyline stage with people who danced while he sang. Once he left this area, he went into a room with lights and mirrors and held the camera himself as he sang into it. To leave this area, he navigated through a crowd of body doubles dressed like the injured version of his red blazer character. He returned to the multi-tier skyline stage and violinists joined him to perform a powerful version of “Earned It”. The visual display reached a new level when the body doubles lined the entire field. As The Weeknd performed amongst them, they turned on lights they had on their hands while he sang “Blinding Lights” Fireworks concluded his performance but they had also been used throughout the entirety of it.

#1 Prince feat. Florida A&M University Marching 100 Band – Super Bowl 43, 2007

Some moments are genuinely historic and iconic. Prince’s Super Bowl performance is one of those moments. The first thing that validates this is the fact the stage itself was Prince’s symbol. It changed colors as he performed. Then, there’s the fact he used three different guitars for his performances and each one sounded excellent. The last one he used was purple and also in the shape of his symbol. This was his guitar of choice for his mega hit “Purple Rain” As he played that one, a huge white sheet appeared and Prince’s silhouette was the only thing visible. During this guitar solo, the shape of the guitar stood out even more as he played to the cheering fans. As the camera lens showed, it had actually been raining his entire performance. However, the purple lighting combined with it as he played the song was truly an exceptional moment.

Does Ice Spice Have A BF? A List Of Her Previous Relationships

Ice Spice has become an overnight sensation with her songs “Munch (Feelin’ U)” and “Gangsta Boo.” Isis Gaston aka Ice Spice, gained popularity when “Munch (Feelin’ U)” went viral on TikTok in 2021. Since then, the Bronx rapper has been creating chart-topping songs and seen in the public eye with a variety of different celebrities, such as Doja Cat and Pink Pantheress.

However, there’s one particular thing fans are curious about: Ice Spice’s relationship status. Does the rapper have a boyfriend? Throughout her short time in the limelight, the Bronx-based rapper has been rumored to be with different men in the industry. Here is a list of the most notable men she’s been rumored to be with.

Caleb McLaughlin

Relationship rumors sparked on September 18 between Ice Spice and the Stranger Things star, Caleb McLaughlin. The duo was spotted at Cardi B and her husband, Offset’s annual event “Fashion Night Out” in New York. Both stars were invited and turned heads when they arrived together. An insider confirmed the rumors to Media Take Out that the two have been seeing each other for a few weeks at the time. “Ice Spice and Caleb are dating and are really into each other,” the insider said.

Drake

The pair were first rumored to be dating in August 2022 when Canadian rapper, Drake, slid into her DMs. What was it about Ice Spice that intrigued Drake? Her viral song “Munch (Feelin’ it). The 36-year-old Degrassi alumni flew the 23-year-old to attend Ovo Fest, his yearly three-day festival, in Toronto located in Canada. During an interview with Spotify’s RapCaviar, she shared her thoughts about meeting Drake

“I had just landed in L.A. for my Genius Open Mic for ‘Munch,’ and he was actually like, ‘Yo, ‘Munch’ is hard and your On the Radar freestyle is hard.’ And I was like, ‘Damn, that’s crazy because I’m really in L.A. about to shoot the Open Mic.’

“Linking up with him was so cool. Like, he’s mad nice and respectful. We went to OVO Fest. It was exciting because it was like his first time performing in Toronto, I think in like a couple of years. So it was just a movie, everybody was excited.”

However, there was speculated beef between both artists, after Drake unfollowed Ice Spice on Instagram. From there, he allegedly dissed her in his newest song “Her Loss” with 21 Savage. The one lyric from the song that stood out and fired the speculation was, “She a 10 tryna rap, it’s good on mute.” Even Ice Spice herself assumed the song was about her, responding in a tweet, “at least ima 10.”

But during an interview with The New York Times, she cleared the air, claiming that there’s no tension between her and Drake.

“We’re cool,” she told the outlet. “We spoke after that a couple times and we’re good. There’s no beef.”

Pete Davidson

The internet was sent into a frenzy after gossip of the “Gangsta Boo” singer and the former Saturday Night Live star, Pete Davidson dating, especially after Davidson was revealed to be in a relationship with Bodies Bodies Bodies actress, Chase Sui Wonders. Although TMZ reported that this was a joke, the dating rumors quickly started trending among fans on Twitter.

This rumor came from an Instagram meme account called @itsfinisher where they posted a side-by-side photo of “The Suicide Squad” actor and the rapper side by side, with the caption, “Pete Davidson is now dating NYC rapper Ice Spice.” Fans missed a crucial piece of information from the caption, that the post was created “for entertainment purposes only.”

These rumors were shot down and put to rest. Currently, Davidson is in a relationship with Wonders and was first spotted together in December 2022. The two confirmed the relationship the following month.

Lil Tjay

In February, Ice Spice and rapper Lil Tjay rose eyebrows after Tjay gifted the New York native a $150K RM-05 Rose Gold, white band Richard Mille watch on Valentine’s Day. In an Instagram post, a jewelry store called Benny the Jeweler unveiled the beautiful watch and captioned, “When You Say You The King Of The City You Gotta Step Different EVERYTIME New Richard Millie RM-05 Rose Gold Gifted To @icespice from my brotha @liltjay.”

Instantly, fans jumped to the conclusion that they were in a romantic relationship. However, these rumors were denied by both artists. Instead, according to TMZ, the watch was presented to Ice Spice, a celebration of their collaborated song “Gangsta Boo” which reached number 82 on Billboard’s Hot 100. During an interview with Complex, she revealed her dating life at the time.

“So, how I’m going to find time for somebody else? Even for family and friends, and myself, I’m still like that little bit of time that I be having on the side is for them and me. N***as come last,” she said.

Apparently, the rappers were originally set to film the music video for “Gangsta Boo” but didn’t due to Lil Tjay’s arrest and charge for gun possession in January.

Bow Wow’s Best Acting Roles

Shad “Bow Wow” Moss, 36, may have begun his career with rap after being discovered by Snoop Dogg in 1993 at an L, A. performance, but he eventually established an acting career after gaining momentum through the music industry. Taking on multifaceted roles in over 20 films and television, Moss typically personifies his personal character in his acting roles, making him a character not to be missed, as his sociable, tender spirit is lighthearted and brings guaranteed laughter.

Taking on roles in movies alongside Tyler Perry, Loretta Devine, Ice Cube, and Taraji P. Henson, Moss was quickly able to epitomize any role he took on. From comedy to action, and drama, his versatility is embodied by his effortless and natural acting ability. With roles in Madea’s Big Happy Family, Scary Movie 5, Lottery Ticket, Hurricane Season, and more, Moss has shown nothing but genuine passion and skill in his acting career.

Bow Wow products hit series Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta

Not only has Moss dipped his toes into acting with both leading and supporting roles, but he has also produced. He produced and appeared in the reality tv series Growing Up Hip Hop: Atlanta. Premiering in 2017, the show revolves around Moss returning to Atlanta to release his first studio album since 2009. The show serves as the second installment to Growing Up Hip Hop. It gives insight into how the rap and hip-hop game moves. It exhibits the lives of artists and family members of music legends.

Bow Wow Debuts His Acting Career Alongside Ice Cube

Taking on his first role in the 2002 film, All About the Benjamins, Moss posed as Kelly “Lil J”, a con artist who was caught in the middle of a bounty hunt for a stash of diamonds and lottery tickets. Though his acting premiere was a short cameo, as his character was arrested by the bounty hunter before the movie gained momentum, he debuted his skills beside actors Ice Cube and Mike Epps.

Lands His First Leading Role

Moss’ next role would be the one to catapult him into the acting world with many roles to come. In the same year he appeared in All About the Benjamins, Moss was in the sports comedy film, Like Mike. Moss’ character, Calvin Cambridge, is a young orphan with an interest in basketball. He and his friends are to sell chocolates for the orphanage’s director and upon their sales. Calvin meets and impresses an NBA coach with his basketball knowledge. The coach gives him tickets to the next game of the L.A. Knights (a parody of the L.A. Clippers). He had a winning number to participate in a halftime contest where he won with a wildly impressive slam dunk

However, had it not been for the pair of Michael Jordan basketball shoes he found on a power line, which ended up electrocuting him, giving the boy magical powers to perform like MJ, he likely would not have been able to win the contest being that he only stands at 4 feet and 8 inches tall.

When Calvin astonished the team’s coach with his “Jumpman” skill, he was signed to a full-season contract with the Knights. He later has his MJ shoes stolen before his team’s last game to make the playoffs. Managing to retrieve them, he makes it to the game just in time to give the Knights a comeback against the Toronto Raptors. Though he ended his time competing with the Knights and was eventually adopted, the shoes gave Calvin a purpose that transpired into a confidence that would teach him and the team lessons of dignity, hope, and how to believe in yourself.

And the Comedies Keep Coming…

Moss’ next lead role would be in the 2004 film, Johnson Family Vacation. Moss’ character DJ, who wants to be a rapper, and his comedic father Nate, played by Cedric the Entertainer, embark on a family road trip. But before they could leave, Nate goes to the auto shop to pick up what he thought would be the same vehicle he dropped off, but finds that his 4Runner had been pimped out with hydraulics and spinning rims. The new effects of the car end up causing hilarious obstacles for the family as they travel to a reunion with other family members.

Though the trip was costly, DJ was able to prove to his father at the reunion that he was indeed a skillful rapper when he performed in the music category during the “Family of the Year” competition. This causes DJ and his family to win, and ultimately bond even more as Nate decided to give the winning trophy to his family opponent, saying that family was the only trophy he needed. This proves to DJ that he and his father do in fact relate, as the approval and pride his dad showed when he won their family the trophy were all each of them needed during their road trip.

First Drama Film Evokes Emotion from Him That had yet to be seen

Bow Wow would star a year later in the 2005 dramedy film, Roll Bounce alongside Nick Cannon, Maegan Good, and again, Mike Epps. Leading his roller-skating crew “The Garden Boys”, Moss’ character Xavier “X” Smith hurdles through a rough life at home after his mother dies and his father loses his job. Though his dad, Curtis played by Chi McBride, falls short of supporting his family through his own sorrow, Curtis ends up buying X a new pair of roller skates just in time for him and his team to compete in the new rink.

Though the “Sweetwater Rollers” stole their performing song, X and his crew tied their rivals. But there had to be a winner, so X faced off against Sweetness from the Sweetwater Rollers for the title. He ended up losing when he fails his attempt at a triple-lutz jump. But, he ends up bringing his family back together after tragedy and forms an unbreakable bond with his roller-skating crew, instilling a feeling of lifelong prosperity.

Stars in Drama War Film, Continues to Move Fans with Emotional Roles

Starring in the 2012 war film, Allegiance, Bow Wow takes on one of his most serious roles yet. In this moving drama, Bow Wow serves as a combat medic. He is supposed to deploy to Iraq with his New York National Guard Unit. His character, Specialist Reyes, has a son with lung cancer and applied for compassionate reassignment, but was denied. He flees the base on multiple occurrences before deployment in hopes of remaining with his son. Though Reyes is arrested for failing to serve his term, all charges are dropped for fear of exploiting the National Guard poorly. He eventually is granted leave and reunites indefinitely with his son. This makes for a happy ending to a rollercoaster of emotions evoked by Moss.

Becomes Part of the Fast And Furious Franchise

Taking on one of his best-supporting roles in the Fast and Furious franchise, Bow Wow appeared as a standout character in two of its nine movies, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift and F9. His character “Twinkie” is an established drifter that moved to Tokyo when his family was relocated for the army. He sells stolen goods to provide for himself. He ends up meeting Dom Toretto when he sets him up to race his friend Sean.

Twinkie eventually moves to Germany to build cars for the government. But, he stays in contact with Toretto by selling him weapons, gear, and cars. Moss’ character may not make a return for the two-part Fast and Furious final chapter. But, F9 director Justin Lin opened up to Entertainment Weekly about Moss’ role in the saga. He said that , “I remember Lucas and Jason and Bow talking to Sung about a conversation they had when we were shooting ‘Tokyo Drift’ and it was just a continuation of it, and that kind of connection was great.”

What to Expect Next from Shad ‘Bow Wow’ Moss

When Bow Wow went on the 2022 Millenium Tour with singer and actress Keri Hilson, they teamed up. He is now in the sequel to Hip Hop Family Christmas. The upcoming film, Hip Hop Family Christmas Wedding has yet to release its debut. But, the VH1 film will most likely be available this winter. Moss appeared in the saga’s first film as Blair. But, the sequel is to include more about Blair’s love life and street sense. As for other works from Moss, he confirms with 105.1 FM that something is on the way with BET. Until then, grab a flick or kick back with your boo to some of his hip-hop classics like Like You, You Can Get It All, and Shortie Like Mine.

Frank Ocean’s Most Streamed Songs

American singer, songwriter, and accomplished rapper Frank Ocean is one of the most critically acclaimed artists of the last decade. Overall, the New Orleans musician has managed to brilliantly fuse hip-hop, R&B, and psychedelic soul to create something that no other artist has. After deciding to pursue music and releasing his first major label album in 2012, Ocean became a huge hit. Also, he is an incredibly talented visual artist working as a professional photographer, has launched a fashion brand, and even produced a visual album. Now, his fans have spent the past several years admiring his art, and there is no doubt that he has already made history.

Chanel

With just over 600 million streams on Spotify, “Chanel” gives fans a mesmerizing sonic experience. The song was a surprise release in 2017 which Frank Ocean clearly used to showcase his unique thoughts beneath the surface. The luxury brand Chanel’s famous logo displays two Cs facing opposite directions, which the songwriter uses as an analogy for an abundance of instances throughout his life. The lyrics to the first verse (“My guy pretty like a girl/And he got fight stories to tell/I see both sides like Chanel”) tell the story of Frank Ocean’s partner, who displays characteristics that are both masculine and feminine, comparing that to the double-sided Chanel logo. Also, he uses the song to discuss seeing his life from multiple perspectives, finding the balance between humility and pride.

Pink + White

“Pink + White” is one of Frank Ocean’s softer songs. It combines R&B and smooth jazz with a touch of soul and hip hop. The song was released in 2016 as a part of his second studio album, Blonde. He wrote and produced this track alongside American music sensation Pharrell Williams. Frank Ocean is notorious for using color as a leitmotif throughout his lyrics, making this a more defining song of his career. Overall, this song tells the story of a relationship which reached a peak, and is now inevitably facing a downhill spiral.

Thinkin Bout You

Frank Ocean’s hit song “Thinkin Bout You” was released as a part of his debut album Channel Orange in 2012. The song quickly rose to fame and now has almost 700 million Spotify streams. It was initially released as a demo through his Tumblr account in 2011. It was officially was put out into the world the following year. Ocean initially had written the song on behalf of American singer Bridget Kelly, but later claimed it as his own. “Thinkin Bout You” certainly made a name for itself in 2012. Also, it was nominated for a Grammy award for record of the year.

Lost

Also, “Lost” is undoubtedly one of Frank Ocean’s more exciting hits to listen to. The song smoothly and effortlessly blends R&B with pop to create a fun, catchy melody. Often, it is alluded to as the highlight of Channel Orange, according to both fans and critics alike. This track tells the exciting story of a woman getting lost in the thrill of a drug peddling lifestyle that isn’t quite what she expected it to be.

Slide

“Slide” is a collaboration that technically only features Frank Ocean. But, it is important to note as it has nearly 900 million Spotify streams and was an extremely valuable contribution to his career. The song was produced and released by Calvin Harris in 2017. It features both Frank Ocean and Migos. Together, the three artists created a top hit song. It combines hip-hop and dance-pop to create a smooth yet fun-filled experience for fans all over the world.

Frank Ocean has yet to release a track since his most recent single in 2019. His music career remains mysterious. But, fans have been speculating as of late that he may be releasing old music under a different name. However, it has yet to be confirmed. Fans are crossing their fingers for more exceptional releases by the amazing visionary artist.

Missy Elliott’s Biggest Hits

We would be here a long time if we discussed all of Missy Elliott’s hits. As someone who laid the groundwork for being original, she has gotten her well-deserved flowers. In fact, she still continues to get her flowers to this day. Her hometown of Portsmouth, Virginia named a street after her in 2022. And like several legends, she’s still active musically. These days, she’s mostly doing features but they are just as important as solo songs. Her name is respected in the music world and it’s great to see her connect to the current generation. Across the years, she’s had multiple hits and iconic music videos to go with them. Many of these songs are timeless for many people and will continue to be played throughout the years. We’ve compiled and ranked ten of them.

#10 Where They From Missy Elliott feat. Pharrell

This song is the most recently released one in this list but it’s still very important. It’s one of Missy Elliott’s hits that younger people may know. While it is common knowledge at this point, both Missy and Pharrell are from the same part of Virginia. Timbaland, a producer they have both worked with across the years, is also from that area. This song is a showcase of Missy and Pharrell’s chemistry and uniqueness. From the very beginning of the song fans knew Pharrell was behind the production due to the 4 count start. He also has a verse on it that matches Missy’s bouncy animated flow on it. There’s a beat breakdown for Missy’s second verse that still keeps the energy going and her flow is still super animated. This one was big in the dance world for sure and you probably heard it in a commercial or two.

#9 Let It Go – Keyshia Cole feat. Missy Elliott and Lil Kim

This song is special for several reasons. For one, it has all three of these women on a track together. Each of them were doing excellent in their own lanes of music and came together to showcase their skills. The song itself was produced by Missy and Lamb and they did something super special with it. The song uses the same sample as “Juicy” by Notorious B.I.G who was in a relationship with Lil Kim. Missy’s post hook has a brief nod to him and Lil Kim ends her verse with his signature “baby baby” catchphrase. The beat also switches for Lil Kim while still maintaining the R&B tone of the rest of the song. For many people, this song is a mood booster.

#8 Gossip Folks Missy Elliott feat. Ludacris

Ludacris was another popular rap name in the early 2000s. For many, him and Missy were similar in terms of their flows and delivery on songs. They both had animated styles and used humor in their ad-libs and punchlines. The beginning of Missy’s first verse is a testament to the former. She elongates the last word of almost every bar and does the same throughout he rather verses. Meanwhile, Ludacris comes in with a fast flow that still has several stand out moments. In it he talks about his past which contrasts Missy talking about her present well. Both of them address those with negative opinions about them and respond uniquely and confidently. Also, this was one Missy and Timbaland produced together.

#7 One, Two Step – Ciara feat. Missy Elliott

This one of the songs on here that isn’t produced by Timberland and/or Missy. On this one Missy is the feature and drops in after Ciara’s singing. For many, this song is a nostalgic classic. Some hold it in such high regard because of the collaboration between the two women. Others because it’s produced by Jazze Pha who had a very large presence in music at the time. There are multiple synthesizer melodies on the song which were common at the time. One thing distinct about this song is there’s a bridge before Missy’s verse. During this, a brand new melody comes in as Ciara sings. The original beat comes back in for Missy’s brief but effective verse.

#6 Bounce – Timbaland feat. Justin Timberlake, Dr. Dre and Missy Elliott

With so many tracks with Timbo and Missy on here, it’s only right there’s one where she’s the feature. Timbaland was an established producer at this point and had worked with multiple big names. This song was on his debut project and naturally there are many big names of the time on it. This track specifically has several legends on it and Missy’s verse might be the best one. The verses all have a suggestive theme running through them and Missy was not new to that. Amongst the men, she stated what she has and she could do just as confidently as they did. Timbaland’s futuristic production created the perfect atmosphere for this. Missy’s verse interestingly enough does not mention him this time around even though she has done it several times on other songs.

#5 The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly) – Missy Elliott

While Missy is known for her high energy dance tracks, this one slows things down a little. It’s not exactly a ballad but goes for a cool and calm atmosphere. And naturally, you can still dance to it.  Missy sounds just as confident as she always does on it. This one is special because it’s the first solo track on her debut album. Because of this, we see her skill displayed well and yet she still has more in store. This music video has her most iconic look: The patent leather blow up suit. It’s been called a “trash bag” multiple times but Missy herself cleared that up years ago. The last minute or so of the song is absent from Missy’s presence. It’s almost as if she wanted the focus to be on Timbaland’s production completely.

#4 Bomb Intro/Pass That Dutch – Missy Elliott

This song’s opening moments set it up well. Missy Elliot is on production and takes a dance based approach to the beat. The claps that go throughout it set the tone to clap and dance a long easily. The bass also becomes a core part of the song as it almost is a melody in itself. Missy’s imagery in her verses keep the club scene going as she encourages people to dance along with the song. Along with those moments she also has some fun and creative punchlines that line up well with the song’s atmosphere. Sometimes albums start out with an instrumental or spoken word. This was the first song on the album it’s on and it sets the tone right out the gate with very high energy.

#3 Lose Control – Missy Elliott feat. Ciara and Fatman Scoop

This is one of Missy Elliott’s hits with an iconic intro. When people heard it, they knew what time it was and got up fast. Missy Elliot produced this one herself and showed she was talented in that department too. The song’s warping melody is the perfect pair for Missy’s confident flow. Fatman Scoop serves as a hype man throughout the song and does a great job at it. He encourages people to dance and get into the song. Ciara brings a more subdued voice to the group and the production adapts for it. She even has a couple of bars before going into her singing. The trio proved they could make a high energy song and show off their skills well with everyone shining in their own way.

#2 Get Your Freak On – Missy Elliott

This song is mandatory in a list of Missy Elliott’s hits. Timbaland is on production and Missy has production credits too. The song’s melody is the part most people remember about it. Missy’s energy is strong throughout the track. The hook is fun and easy to remember and fits in really well with the production around it. Missy uses a start-and-stop flow that includes pauses in the production too. These moments are capitalized on by fun and humorous ad libs. Missy uses these techniques to talk about her dominance in the rap game which all were aware of at the time. This was another one that was big for dancing and the music video proved that. There were also several cameos in the video including Timbaland himself, Ludacris, Busta Rhymes, Eve and more.

#1 Work It – Missy Elliott

This is easily the biggest of Missy Elliott’s hits. The intro is instantly recognizable for many people. Timbaland’s signature drums come in right before Missy begins her verse. As with many of her songs, she introduces herself before it. The song’s siren-like melody is one of the most memorable aspects of it. Missy’s verses are also full of creative flows and her making her own sound effects within them too. This was a testament to her unique creativity that put her at the level she reached. However, the most iconic aspect of this song is the hook where Missy talks about reversing – then says the hook itself in reverse. For many at the time this may have been confusing to hear. But, upon looking at the lyrics it’s easy to see that’s exactly what she did.
