According to several confirmed reports, disgraced actor Jussie Smollett was placed in the psych ward in the Cook County Jail after receiving his 150-day jail sentence, but his brother says that despite his classification, Jussie is not having any mental health issues while incarcerated.

Jocqui Smollett, the brother of Empire actor Jussie Smollett took to IG over the weekend, saying, “So Jussie is currently in a psych ward at the Cook County Jail. What’s very concerning is that there was a note attached to his paperwork today saying that he’s at risk of self-harm.”

Jocqui continued, “I want to make it clear that he is in no way, shape, or form at risk of self-harm. He wants to let folks know that he is very stable, he is very strong, he is very healthy and ready to take on the challenge that… has been put up against him.”

Sources in law enforcement say that Smollett was placed in the psych ward because it is another housing unit used for high profile inmates.

Smollett was sentenced to five months behind bars for faking a racial and homophobic attack in Chicago back in January 2019.

Snoop Dogg Removes Most Of Death Row’s Catalogue From DSPs

Screen Shot 2022 03 14 at 5.54.03 AM

Last month, things began to take a futuristic turn for Death ROw Records, with former label signee Snoop Dogg taking ownership of the label and soon after said that the “world’s most dangerous recordlabel” would be made into an NFT. To further solidify that, the Dogg has now removed all of Death Row’s previous recordings from all streaming platforms.

Even though the report stems from a Wikipedia page, upon close examination of Death Row recordings on all DSPs including those from Snoop Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound, all of access to these songs and albums on public streaming platforms have been removed. Death Row labeled classic albums like Doggystyle, Dogg Food, the Above The Rim soundtrack, Dr. Dre’s The Chronic and more are no longer available.

Snoop discussed the idea of bringing the Death Row label into the metaverse in a Clubhouse conversation, saying, “Death Row will be an NFT label,” he said.“We will be putting out artists through the metaverse. Just like we broke the industry when we was the first independent to be major, I want to be the first major in the metaverse.”

Even though Snoop hasn’t publicly addressed the disappearance of the Death Row projects, but fans have certainly expressed their displeasure in the absence of some of Hip Hop’s most revered classics.

One Clubhouse participant said, “So, thanks to Snoop Dogg promoting NFT shit and making Death Row Records an NFT record label, all the releases except 2Pac’s, will be removed from Spotify and so on. This is actually bullshit, that means no more Dre’s Chronic on Spotify. NFTs need to die, fucking stupid movement.”

On this date in 1989, Corona, Queens rap and street legend Kool G. Rap and DJ Polo released their very first album on the quintessential, yet now-defunct Hip-Hop label Cold Chillin’ Records.

As esteemed members of the world-famous, Queens-based Juice Crew, G. Rap and Polo dropped this project as one of the first full-length albums from the crew, only to succeed Big Daddy Kane’s Long Live The Kane and Biz Markie’s Goin’ Off albums. the Marley Marl-produced album is one of NYC’s crime rhyme holy grails, with tracks like “Road To The Riches” as a theme song for late 80s hustlers, but the majority of the album showcased G. Rap’s uncanny rapping ability. Tracks like “Men At Work”, “Poison” and their premiere track “It’s A Demo” were proof three decades ago that G’s style would be pioneering in the rap game, to say the least.

Salute to G. Rap, Polo, Marley, Fly Ty, and the rest of the Juice Crew and Cold Chillin’ staff for this important piece of Hip Hop history!

jam master jay

The fatal shooting of Jam Master Jay in 2002 sent shockwaves through the entire Hip Hop community. Especially learning two people who were close to the late deejay were arrested and charged for his murder.

20 years later we’re still waiting for justice as JMJ’s case had been unsolved for over 18 years.

According to All Hip Hop, U.S. District Judge LaShann DeArcy Hall rejected 38-year-old, Karl Jordan Jr’s request to be released on a one-million-dollar bond. His legal team cited the shooting suspect being high risk of catching COVID-19 while incarcerated because he only has one kidney.

Karl Jordan, Jr. and Ronald Washington allegedly conspired to kill Jay, born Jason Mizell because Washington was cut out of a large drug deal that Mizell acquired.

READ MORE: Jam Master Jay’s alleged killers will not face the death penalty.

Washington and Jordan were charged for their alleged roles in the beloved DJ’s death in 2020. Jordan faces a mandatory minimum of 25 years in prison if convicted of murder. His trial is scheduled for February 2023.

Prosecutors believe that Jordan fired the shot that killed Jam Master Jay at his recording studio in Queens on October 30, 2002. Jordan and Washington were also indicted on murder, firearms and drug charges.

[WATCH] Graphic Video: Ohio Officer Cleared In Shooting Of Teenager Ma’Khia Bryant

makhia

The Columbus police officer who shot and killed 16-year-old Ma’Khia Bryant last year has been cleared of any criminal wrongdoing, Ohio prosecutors announced Friday.

Bryant was killed in April by Columbus police officer Nicholas Reardon as she swung a knife at a young woman, just seconds after pushing another woman to the ground. Police were responding to a 911 call made from Bryant’s foster home about a group of girls threatening to stab members of the household.

The killing led to a Justice Department review of the police department in Ohio’s capital city.

Officer Nicholas Reardon arrived on the scene and shot Bryant four times who died from her injuries. The coroner listed the cause of death as a homicide — a medical determination used in cases where someone has died at someone else’s hand, but not a legal finding. It doesn’t imply criminal intent.
I shared my own experience as a young black girl in Harlem, NYC and the horror associated with protecting yourself in a hostile environment. Mediators and prevention are a necessary conversation to assist young girls with no influential guidance.

Watch the graphic officer cam footage below.

Was the officer justified?

No More Vodka From Russia, President Biden Announces Sanctions Amid Ukraine Invasion

biden putin

President Biden is calling for the removal of normal trade relations with Russia following its invasion of Ukraine. The move would allow for new tariffs on Russian imports, which Biden said would be a “crushing blow” to Russia’s economy.

Biden said Friday, “The free world is coming together to confront” Russian President Vladimir Putin,” and “we’re going to continue to squeeze” him.

The President is proposing the ban on imports of seafood, spirits and diamonds. This means no more caviar and vodka from that country. Biden is also calling for Congress to remove “favored nation status,” which makes it very hard for Russia to do business with other counties.

The U.S. The President said there’s bipartisan cooperation to stand up against Russia’s aggression in Eastern Europe. Biden added the U.S. will be going after Russian oligarchs as they support Russian President Vladimir Putin and harm Russia’s citizens.

Biden’s proposal would put Moscow’s trade relationship with the U.S. in the same category as North Korea and Cuba. The proposal would require congressional approval.

Mayor Lightfoot Says Chicago Feels “Vindicated” By Smollett Conviction

Jussie Smollett Sentenced to 150 Days in Cook County Jail & Probation for Hate Crime Hoax

Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot says the city feels “vindicated’ by the conviction of Jussie Smollett.

The former “Empire” actor was sentenced on Thursday to 150 days behind bars for staging a phony hate crime in Chicago. After the sentencing, Mayor Lightfoot released a statement saying it sends “a clear message to everyone in the City of Chicago that false claims and allegations will not be tolerated.” She added that Smollett’s claim cost the city over $130,000 in police overtime.

“The criminal conviction of Jussie Smollett by a jury of his peers and today’s sentencing should send a clear message to everyone in the City of Chicago that false claims and allegations will not be tolerated. The malicious and wholly fabricated claim made by Mr. Smollett resulted in over 1500 hours of police work that cost the City over $130,000 in police overtime. The City feels vindicated in today’s ruling that he is being held accountable and that we will appropriately receive restitution for his actions.”
