Hip Hop’s 50th Tribute: Brooklyn’s Own M.O.P.

You can’t mention the greatest rap duos of all time and not mention the legendary M.O.P.—also known as Mash Out Posse. The Brooklyn MC’s changed the game when they stepped on the scene with their rough, rugged flow. Back when artists’ honed their own style, M.O.P’s interpretation of their upbringing and lifestyle through music coincided with who they really were.
The Brownsville duo debuted in 1993 with the single “How About Some Hardcore?”. Always ahead of the curve, Billy Danze and Lil Fame have always foreseen talent. The success of their single and gritty video from then-unknown director Hype Williams was the beginning of a montage of relentless hits.

Boasting a strong discography and a loyal fanbase, their reach has gone around the world. With their signature adlibs and distinct voices both men and women were rocking M.O.P. The song “Ante Up”, released on their Warriorz album in 2000 was an instant hit off the album but the addition of a remix with an unknown Remy Ma, Teflon and Busta Rhymes would push the song into a cult mosh pit classic. Touring the world and livening up many rap shows, M.O.P. has and always will be the cherry on top in hip hop.

Only working with the best in the business, they have collaborated with DJ Premier and  DR Period. Fame also produces under the name Fizzy Womack and has produced many tracks on all M.O.P. releases.They were on major labels such as Loud, Roc-A-Fella Records, G-Unit working with the who’s who in the industry. Still able to stay true to themselves, the duo alongside their longtime manager Laze continues to tour while releasing solo projects. Fame is still on the beats while Billy Danze ushers in new artists and producers while preparing to drop his new solo album.

Cardi B is shutting down critics on social media who criticized her after a video of her smoking a cigarette on her birthday surfaced on Instagram.

The Bronx rapper Cardi B celebrated her 31st birthday Wednesday after sharing the sea full of roses her husband gave her on her birthday. That evening a video of Cardi in a skin-tight red dress was captured of her smoking in a cigarette, Now Cardi is responding to critics and explaining why she doesn’t smoke marijuana.

“You muthaf**kas judging me because I smoked a little cigarette?” Cardi snapped in the Instagram video below. “First of all, let me talk about you n***as. Y’all out here drinking fake lean. You n***as is out here drinking Nyquil mixed with Benadryl. Y’all not even getting the right muthaf**kin Percs. Y’all popping pills, bitch, full of Fentanyl.”

“Let me talk about you b*****s,” she continued. “You b*****s went from popping Percs to popping Zannies and s**t. You b*****s walking around here with sleepy p***y…Leave me the f**k [alone].”

The Houston rapper has been in an ongoing legal battle over a deal she signed at the beginning of her career. Meg has been fighting to get out of her contact with Carl Crawford’s 1501 Certified Entertainment for three years with a vicious back and forth between her and the labelhead.

Megan is calling on her fans asking for their support for her new album after she reveals that she paid for it out of her own pocket.

Floyd Mayweather Sends Food Water And Bulletproof Vests To Israel

Floyd Mayweather Announces Boxing Match with Logan Paul in February

Boxer and philanthropist Floyd Mayweather Jr. is helping out Israel in a big way. The champ sent one of his private jets loaded with supplies to aid Israel and its citizens amid the war with Palestine.

According to reports, the plane is loaded with food and water and bulletproof vests for both the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) and civilians.

Mayweather also took to Instagram to declare that he stands with Israel in the ongoing conflict.

Israel was invaded by Hamas (Palestine militants occupying Gaza) in a surprise attack early Saturday, Oct. 7.

“I stand with Israel against the Hamas terrorists,” Mayweather wrote in an Instagram post on Oct. 9. “Hamas do not represent the people of Palestine but are a terrorist group that are attacking innocent lives! I stand for all humans and wish for the safe return of all Americans and Israelis and any human that were kidnapped as hostages during these horrific war crimes. This is not a time for politics. This is a time for safety first and foremost. God Bless America. God Bless Israel. God Bless Human Kind!”

Nicki Minaj Says ‘Pink Friday 2 Tour Will Be “Greater Than Every Other Tour Combined”

Nicki Minaj fans have been waiting for quite some time for the release of her highly-anticipated project, Pink Friday 2. And while we wait for the album’s November 17th release date, Nicki has been doing a great job of keeping up the hype. 

Most recently, Queen Barbie herself went Live to her 227 million followers on Instagram to talk about the new project and its coinciding tour. Not only does she let fans into a little bit of her creative process behind her new release, she always explains that this Pink Friday 2 tour will be “greater than every other tour combined.” 

Which is saying a lot! Given her Young Money labelmate Drake recently shut down arenas all over the world on his It’s All A Blur Tour.

Nick states, “Even though this album is called Pink Friday 2, even though we love the nostalgia, this will not remind you of another tour. That’s how I’ll say it. I mean, it’s gonna be greater than every other tour combined — like this album. This will be a very different feeling tour, even if you’ve been to every Nicki Minaj tour that’s ever existed. Because there are certain things that I always do similar in all my tours. This time, it’s going to be a completely different perspective.”

We can’t help but wonder exactly what this means, whether she’s talking about her performance style or her set design. But one thing’s for sure: it sounds like she’s putting a lot of time and effort into giving fans an unforgettable show!

“In addition to it being, of course, a whole new album, the approach to the tour will be very different and the feel of the tour will be very different. We still gon’ cover all the ground that is required to cover in order for y’all to know that you fucking with the best, but it won’t remind you of another tour.”

The Pink Friday 2 Tour dates have yet to be announced, but Nicki has previously revealed it should start somewhere in the first quarter of next year. In the meantime, we wait patiently for the arrival of Pink Friday 2 on November 17th, marking her first album in five years.

Consequence Explains How He Secured A YNW Melly Feature

YNW Melly has had quite a bit to worry about that doesn’t have anything to do with music. He’s been in police custody since 2019 and is currently awaiting his second trial for a double murder that took place in 2018. Clearly, he had quite a bit in the vault at the time of his arrest because three albums of material have been released. The most recent Just A Matter Of Slime dropped in 2021 and many fans assumed it exhausted the final things he recorded prior to his legal troubles.

As it turns out he has at least one more featured verse to be released. Consequence recently stopped by XXL to share some details on his upcoming new album. While playing some songs from the project he revealed that YNW Melly appeared on a track from the project called “Overdose.” He explained that he was in Florida for a recording session that included Timbaland, Chief Keef, and others. One of the others was a younger rapper who offended him by asking who he was. “I go in the other room, I start f**king with ‘Overdose’ and Melly had just come back… He literally was just like, ‘Yo, I got you OG yeah,’ wrote the s**t.” Check out the full article below.

Consequence Has A YNW Melly Feature On His Album

YNW Melly’s second trial for double murder was due to start earlier this month, but was delayed. He’s facing a second trial because the first ended in a mistrial after the jury couldn’t come to a conclusive verdict. The news for Melly has been mixed recently as he was hit with an extra charge of witness tampering earlier this month.

Back in August Consequence released a remix of his Kanye West-produced banger “Blood Stain.” The sequel “BLOOD STAIN 2” featured a new guest verse from Rick Ross. A lot of new revelations have been made known to the public since Jada Pinkett-Smith has been promoting her new book Worthy and during one of her recent interviews, the actress says that the late rapper/actor icon Tupac Shakur proposed to her during a visit while he was incarcerated in NYC’s notorious Riker’s Island.

Will Smith’s estranged wife spoke about visiting Tupac in prison, stating, “That was probably one of the more painful parts seeing him there, the condition he was in and he was in a bad shape.” She added, “When he asked me to marry him, he was in Rikers and I knew at that time he needed somebody to do time with him which I was going to do anyway. You have to marry me to do that, right?”

Judge Removes Lead Prosecutor From YNW Melly Retrial

Several news reports have confirmed that a Broward County judge has removed the lead prosecutor in the retrial of YNW Melly’s double homicide case.

Circuit Judge John J. Murphy ruled that ssistant State Attorney Kristine Bradley could not continue to serve as the llead prosecutor in the case because he felt there was a chance that she might testify for the defense. Bradley has been named as one of the defense’s witnesses who can further lessen the credibility of one of Jamell “YNW Melly” Demons’ main accusers in his murder trial.

The retrial is set to be underway, with jury selection starting as soon as next week.

Today Ice Spice releases the song for “Pretty Girl (with Rema)” on 10K Projects/Capitol. The rapper, singer, songwriter and overall It Girl is joined on the track by Nigerian rapper, singer and songwriter Rema and produced by RiotUSA.

“Pretty Girl (with Rema)” comes days after the Bronx-born Ice Spice was announced as the season premiere musical guest on Saturday Night Live, which will air tonight(October 14), won Best Breakthrough Hip Hop Artist at the 2023 BET Hip Hop Awards and Best New Artist at the 2023 Video Music Awards, graced the cover of Variety magazine and LA Times, added “Deli” as her 3rd RIAA-Certified Gold single with (the other two are “Munch (Feelin’ You)” and “In Ha Mood.” “Boys a Liar Part 2” with Pink Pantheress is certified platinum). Another week in the life of 23-year-old Ice Spice.

Jada Pinkett Smith Says Tupac Asked to Marry Her While Jailed at Rikers Island

Jada Pinkett Smith has revealed that she could have been Tupac’s wife. Sitting with Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson for the All the Smoke podcast, Pinkett Smith revealed that Pac proposed to her while he was locked up in Rikers Island.

“Seeing him there, the condition that he was in and having to leave him there,” Pinkett Smith said. “He was in bad shape. And so, when he asked me to get married, he was at Rikers

“I knew at that time that he needed somebody to do time with him, which I was gonna do anyway. He didn’t have to marry me to do that. I’m here. He needed a rock. Because of our friendship and everything we had been through together, he just wanted to feel that solidified foundation.”

Pinkett Smith believes that Tupac would have divorced her as soon as he exited prison. You can hear it all from her below.

In a separate interview, Jada Pinkett Smith officially stated what many across Hip-Hop believed was in her heart: Tupac was her soulmate.

Speaking with journalist Christal Jordan at RollingOut, Pinkett revealed that Tupac was her soulmate and believed they shared past lives.

“There is all kinds of definitons of soulmates,” Pinkett Smith said. “If there is such a thing as past lives I definitely think Pac and I have traveled a few together.”

Pinkett Smith says she never regretted attempting to make a romance because there was no chemistry between the two.
