Drake Honors Fabolous on Instagram: ‘You Influenced Everything for Me’

Fabolous Breaks his Silence About Emily B Assault

Drake hit Instagram to show love to one of his heroes, Fabolous. Drizzy would share throwback images of Fab in throwback jerseys and thank him for his contributions to Hip-Hop and it they influenced his career.

“Wouldn’t be anywhere without this guy real shit @myfabolouslife,” Drake wrote. “Was really just taking in how much you influenced everything for me.”

In their career, Drake and Fabolous collaborated once, on Loso’s “Throw It in the Bag” remix. Hopefully, they will get together again. In the interim, Drake dropped off his “Jumbotron Shit” video below.

Drake Said He ‘Wouldn’t Be Anywhere’ Without This Rapper Who Influenced Him

The other week, Reason argued that Fabolous is a better rapper than Andre 3000. “[Fab] out-raps Wayne, he said. “If you can out-rap Wayne, you can out-rap Andre 3000. He’s out-rapped Wayne on records. … I’m not saying it’s easy for Fab, but I think if Fab came in with the mindset of ‘I want the best verse,’ I think Fab can out-rap Andre 3000.”

Now, Drake is singing Fabolous’ praises as well. In a new Instagram story, he posted a picture of the rapper with text that reads: “Real sh*t @myfabolouslife was really just taking in how much you influenced everything for me,” and he “wouldn’t be anywhere without this guy.”

In September, Fabolous made an appearance alongside Trina and DJ Whoo Kid at AEW’s Arthur Ashe Stadium show at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens for the Dynamite Grand Slam show.

Meanwhile Drake is still riding the success of his collaborative LP with 21 Savage, Her Loss, that came out last year. At the end of December, it surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify. Before the album was even released, the pair decided to launch a whole fake promotional cycle, which included a photoshopped Vogue cover, a spoof NPR Tiny Desk, a parody SNL performance, a faux Howard Stern interview, and even more.

Drake Gives Fabolous His Credit: “Wouldn’t Be Anywhere Without This Guy”

Drake paid homage to Fabolous for his influence and impact on his career.

Fabolous is a rapper’s rapper in many ways. Though he’s far from the commercial heights he was once at, there’s really no doubt how impactful he was to the game. From his wordplay to his swag and laidback demeanor, Fab had the game on lock at one point in time.

Over the weekend, Drake hit Instagram with a tribute post to Fab, giving the Brooklyn rapper credit for shaping his style and sound. The rapper posted two throwbacks of Fab in the early 2000s, stating that he “wouldn’t be anywhere without this guy.”

“Real shit @myfabolouslife was really just taking in how much you influenced everything for me,” Drizzy wrote.

In a subsequent post, he shared his love for 112. “Wouldn’t be shit without this,” he added.

Drake hasn’t shied away from embracing Fab’s influence on him in the past, either. During a 2018 birthday party, Drake dressed up as Fab, donning a blue Kobe Bryant LA Lakers jersey with a matching fitted cap and a bandana tied on top of it.

The two previously worked together on the “Throw It In The Bag (Remix).” However, there was speculation that there was tension between them after Rolling Stone published an interview with Drake in 2014. Drake appeared to take shots at Fab in discussing Ye’s polarizing Yeezus album.

“There were some real questionable bars on there,” Drake says in the interview. “Like that Swag-hili line? Come on man, man. Even Fabolous wouldn’t say some shit like that.”

But, the Brooklyn rapper quickly chalked it up to sensationalized media. He said that he chopped it up with Drake, who apologized for dragging his name into the interview, following the incident.

“It’s over. It’s under the bridge. I got a lot of respect for what Drake does and he’s expressed to me personally, so we move on from there.”

We’ll keep you posted if Fab responds to Drake’s shout out.

Trina, Fabolous, And DJ Whoo Kid Appear At AEW Dynamite Grand Slam

Professional wrestling and hip-hop have gone hand in hand for decades, producing many memorable moments along the way. AEW (All Elite Wrestling) rolled out the red carpet for two New York City favorites and hip-hop legends at their Dynamite Grand Slam show on September 21. Trina, Fabolous, and DJ Whoo Kid all made individual appearances at AEW’s Arthur Ashe Stadium show at Flushing Meadows-Corona Park in Queens.

Fabolous walked out with the now former AEW Tag Tag champions Swerve In Our Glory, made up of Keith Lee and Isaiah “Swerve” Scott, sporting a New York Knicks jersey during their entrance. Immediately following that, DJ Whoo Kid walked out with their challengers and now current AEW Tag Team champions The Acclaimed, made up of Max Caster and Anthony Bowens. The Acclaimed, known for rapping during their entrances, dropped some bars before defeating Swerve In Our Glory for the tag team championships in a hard-fought battle.

Later in the show during a backstage segment, current TBS Champion Jade Cargill promoted her upcoming AEW Rampage Grand Slam match with Diamante on Friday, September 23, when they’ll compete for the TBS title. At that point, Florida legend Trina appeared onscreen and exchange words with Cargill.
