It’s 2024 And Eminem Is Still Using A BlackBerry Phone, Which They Don’t Even Make Anymore

Eminem has taken living in the past to a whole new level. Apparently, the “Stan” rapper’s key to cutting out the noise online is to downgrade his tech. Yesterday (February 22), DJ Whoo Kid revealed to his million Instagram followers that his longtime friend and collaborator still uses a BlackBerry phone. (BlackBerry, by the way, hasn’t made a new phone in years.)

He wrote, “#Eminem was trying to figure out who ate his last mom’s spaghetti box in the dressing room. I was like @momsspaghettidetroit I told him it was @iamdenaun and by the way yes. He still has a blackberry phone.”

While most followers focused on DJ Whoo Kid’s photo of homemade spaghetti, others couldn’t help but point out the technological relic.

“[Is] that a blackberry,” asked rapper Gashi, leading others to dogpile on.

DJ Whoo Kid, seemingly experiencing secondhand embarrassment, replied, “Yes. He still has it.”

Another user called out their friend and Eminem for being “the only people left in this world communicating w BlackBerry.”

“LMAOOOO the blackberry phone,” wrote one user.

“Does using a Blackberry keep you from aging or what Slim,” jokingly asked one user.

Maybe vintage tech is the foundation of youth everyone’s so desperately been after. Or it could just be Eminem being his typical introverted self. There is no way you can get into an X (formerly Twitter) spat if your phone can’t even access the app in the first place. Kendrick Lamar’s Pgland company might’ve found its ideal customer for their anti-distraction device, LightPhone.

Eminem Responds To Rumors That He And 50 Cent Are Secretly Working On A Joint Album

When Eminem isn’t unabashedly throwing his support behind the Detroit Lions, the “Doomsday Pt. 2” rapper is shaking things up in the booth.

In the past few months, Eminem has done things like show off his award-winning lyrical skills on a posthumous Juice WRLD track. But fans are craving more. A viral rumor suggests that one could be in the works. Alas, during a phone call with DJ Whoo Kid on January 28, Eminem responded to rumors that he and 50 Cent are secretly working on a joint album.

“Where’d that come from?” he said. “I don’t know whose idea that was, but that’s crazy.”

Although Eminem shut down the whispers of a collaborative project, he went on to add that he’s open to it. “Whatever he needs from me, I’m here,” he said. “That sh*t would be crazy. An album with me and him.”

Last year, Lil Wayne & 2 Chainz dropped CollegeGrove 2. Meek Mill and Rick Ross came together for Too Good To Be True. So, there’s a lane wide open and eager to hear Eminem and 50 Cent exchange bars.

Eminem Discusses 50 Cent Potential Collab Album, Detroit Lions, & More With DJ Whoo Kid

Eminem sat down with DJ Whoo Kid for a new interview published on Sunday in which he discussed the idea of doing a collaborative album with 50 Cent, the success of the Detroit Lions, and more. He also teased having new music in the works, remarking: “I’m working on a little something.”

When Whoo Kid brought up collaborating with 50 Cent on a full-length project, Em responded: “I don’t know where that’s come from but it’s crazy.” From there, he added that he just wants new music from the G-Unit rapper: “I’m trying to get him to make a new album so bad. We need another 50 album like really bad. 50’s on a roll right now. He’s been on a roll since the tour. I told him whatever the fuck he needs from me, I’m here. That sh*t’d be crazy, though — an album with me and him.”

When talking about the hot new single with the H-Town rapstress, Cardi said, The part where Megan is kind of at in the song, because we chopped the song a lot, like the part where like she’s at, it be like “Bong, bong, bong,” and I was planning for that to be the hook, but it just sounded so incomplete. Then, we just like, “This song needs a feature,” so it’s like a lot of people wanted it to go the Spanish route with it and I’m like, “I could see that.” I could see that, definitely. Of course, like you could feel it, but I was like, “I feel like I hear Megan on this.” It’s like, “Really? You don’t think that It’s more like of the Latin part,” and I’m like, “Yeah, but I hear her on this. Like, I know it. I know I could hear her on this,” and when she sent her verse-..” Whoo Kid added, “It was over.”

Will.i.am Recalls 2Pac Once Stealing A Black Eyed Peas Member’s Girlfriend

Will.i.am says that 2Pac once stole the girlfriend of Black Eyed Peas member Apl.de.Ap. He recalled the story during an interview with DJ Whoo Kid for the Whoo’s House podcast. While he explained that he never met the legendary rapper, Will.i.am told the story of Apl.de.Ap’s girl leaving him at Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles after seeing 2Pac.

“I never met Biggie,” Will.i.am said, “I never had an interaction with 2Pac, but Apl.de.Ap in the Black Eyed Peas, he had this girlfriend. I don’t wanna name her name or put her on blast, and they were eating at freaking Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles.”

Will.i.am continued: “She was hot, bro. She was a beautiful Puerto Rican young girl, when we were kids. 2Pac did like this [beckoning gesture] and then she was like, ‘Oh my gosh, I’ll be right back.’ 30 minutes later, [Apl’s] chicken waffles got all cold, freaking syrup got all freaking stiff, butter got freaking liquidy. And he was like, ‘She ain’t coming back…’ That’s his classic 2Pac [story].” Check out the full conversation below.

It’s not the first time Will.i.am has made headlines for discussing 2Pac. Just last year, he admitted that he wasn’t a fan of the legendary rapper’s music during an interview with The Art of Dialogue. When asked to choose between The Notorious B.I.G. or 2Pac, he went with KRS-One.

Will.i.am Discusses 2Pac With DJ Whoo Kid

“I’m such a Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul head that I don’t like 2Pac and Biggie,” he said at the time. “That kind of music doesn’t speak to my spirit. I like Boogie Down Productions, KRS-One … if it’s like 2Pac or Biggie? It’s KRS-One. Why those two? If it’s 2Pac and Biggie, I don’t hold them up like that. I hold Eric B. and Rakim like that. 2Pac’s dope, don’t get me wrong. It’s not like I don’t think he’s dope.”

Logic Recalls Eminem Agreeing To “Homicide” Collab & Calling Him To Open Show

Eminem has helped inspire a generation of rappers looking to get an inch of his success, and Logic hasn’t minced words when praising the Detroit. There aren’t many artists who can boast about landing Eminem bars on a track. However, Logic did just that when he partnered with Marshall Mathers on “Homicide.” It was a collaboration that found much success, and Logic is sharing how it happened.

“I got called that he likes the song. He’s gonna do the song,” Logic told DJ Whoo Kid for his Whoo’s House podcast. “And a week later, I get a call that’s like, ‘Yo, Em wants you to go open up for him in Hawaii at a stadium. Oh, sh*t! So hyped! You don’t understand, bro. I used to put, ‘Forgot About Dre,’ I used to have my sister put that sh*t from a radio on a cassette. She would put it back and forth, so it would be all the way on Side A and all the way on Side B.”

Logic recalled what I was like going to open for a Rap goat. He said he ran into Royce Da 5’9″, who he called “the homie,” and The Alchemist was also there. “And then here comes f*ckin’ Eminem with a beard that’s new… And he was so f*cking cool, bro. He’s the biggest Rap nerd.” Em apparently pulled out a CD and plays Logic’s track to the DMV star’s surprise.

“I was like, is he gonna have a verse?!” Logic also said. “And he killed it! Me and him were like ‘this’ on the record.” Logic motioned his hands to show that they were even. “I didn’t get son’ed… It just felt like it was our record. It wasn’t anybody trying to one-up” anyone else.

Last year, during an interview with Big Boy’s Neighborhood, Logic spoke on being amazed that Eminem was familiar with him. “I didn’t even know Eminem knew who I was when I met him couple of years ago,” Logic shared at the time. “He shouted me out on a record. And I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, this is amazing! And the next day, we are on a song together. He’s one of the illest dudes.”

Tyga Reflects On Early Days With Lil Wayne: “I Learned The Hustle”

The influence Lil Wayne has had on Hip Hop is unmatched, including personal relationships with artists like Tyga. Weezy is a certified GOAT in the industry and not only shaped his own career but helped others receive global success. In 2008, Tyga inked a deal with Young Money Entertainment that would change his life forever. While on Hotboxin’ with Mike Tyson, he spoke on lessons he learned from the Rap giant.

“I learned the hustle,” said Tyga. “‘Cause like, Wayne’s not a person—he don’t really like, talk much.”

Tyson agreed that Wayne is usually “quiet in a corner.”

“Yeah, so you gotta like, pick up on his ways and the way he moves,” Tyga added. “The work ethic, I learned from him. It was like, whatever he was doing, he made sure whatever city was we in, we was gon’ be at the studio ’til noon or 1:00 p.m. the next day. All night.”

DJ Whoo Kid spoke about rappers complaining about not having money, but Tyga never had that problem with Wayne.

“You gotta think, the rappers now, it’s different,” Tyga replied. “It’s different. Kids go viral on TikTok or—they don’t really have…they’re not seasoned. There’s no artist development no more. So, I felt like for me, being around Wayne when I was that young, that was my artist development.”

“I learned how to move and patience. Now, it’s not patience.”

Do you agree with Tyga about current, rising artists? Does the industry need to offer more guidance and artist development?
