Parents Sue School After Their 10-Year-Old Son Gets Expelled For Emailing YNW Melly Lyrics

As the legal troubles of YNW Melly continue to develop in his retrial process, his lyrics continue to be a controversial discussion outside of the courtroom. You might remember the large debate over whether or not his lyrics should be used for evidence in court. But what about their use in classrooms? New reports emerged that the parents of a 10-year-old boy enrolled in Encino’s Curtis School are suing the institution for expelling him. Why was he expelled? Well, he apparently sent lyrics from Melly’s “Murder On My Mind” via email to a classmate, including a toy gun emoji.

The fifth grader at the $38,000-a-year Los Angeles private school was the victim of an “arbitrary and capricious” decision on behalf of the school, his parents allege. “The school provided no evidence of a policy being violated or of the classmate feeling threatened,” the lawsuit reportedly claims. In addition, reports did not indicate that the Curtis School took action against the other classmate over this situation with YNW Melly lyrics. It’s unclear exactly what specific damages or applicable compensation the parents seek in their legal pursuit.

Nevertheless, the boy’s parents maintained that he’s a straight-A student with no history of behavioral issues. In fact, they even claimed that he and the other classmate “hung out during recess immediately after the Sept. 25 email exchange and also attended the school fair together at the Santa Monica Pier the following day.” In response, the Curtis School issued a statement about this YNW Melly controversy. “While we were disappointed to learn about the litigation, our priority is to ensure a safe and secure campus for all of our students. We are unable to comment on individual students.”

Meanwhile, the YNW Melly case is even affecting other criminal proceedings. For example, a murder suspect used it as an excuse for why he searched the criteria for a murder conviction. Given the massive public interest in the Melly trial, it’s not an impossibility. But it’s clear that its popularity also has some unintended consequences in various areas. So we’ll see if it has other effects or impacts.

Moreover, the recently divorced Knowles left an Instagram comment under a video of a podcast group listening to her daughter’s track “Ego,” which has lyrics such as “It’s too big, it’s too wide, it won’t fit.” As such, it seems like she never caught on to the song’s sexual innuendo, and expressed genuine shock and surprise at realizing the hidden meaning years after its release.

“Wow, !!!!!!!!” Tina Knowles’ message about Beyoncé’s cut “Ego” began. “I just realized that she wasn’t talking about that ego!!!!!!!! Ohhhhhh Myyyyyy!!!!!!! [three crying-laughing emojis]. She told Vogue that the Houston superstar actually didn’t defend herself at first, but started doing so after she stuck up for another person whom childhood bullies attacked. But we all have to start somewhere, and these old tales remind us of where and what we came from on our path to where we are now.

Also, Tina Knowles divulged on what advice Beyoncé gave her daughter Blue Ivy when it comes to dealing with haters, not bullies. “One of her friends came back and showed her some negative comments and it was a great life lesson,” she told Vogue‘s The Run Through podcast. “Because her mom basically said, ‘Listen, if you let this get you down, then they won. Kesha Flips “Tik Tok” Lyric To “F*ck P Diddy” At Coachella

Kesha joined Reneé Rapp on stage at Coachella on Sunday to perform her 2010 hit song, “TiK ToK.” The chart-topping track famously features the lyric, “Wake up in the mornin’ feelin’ like P Diddy.” However, in light of the recent allegations against the Bad Boy mogul, Kesha used the opportunity to change it into a diss. She and Rapp both sang: “Wake up in the morning like, f*** P Diddy.” They threw up their middle fingers toward the sky as well.

It’s not the first time Kesha has changed the lyric, although it is the most vulgar. Back in November, following Cassie’s bombshell lawsuit against Diddy, she sang, “Wake up in the morning feeling just like me!” while performing on her Only Love Tour in Oakland. Cassie settled the lawsuit just a day later, but the drama has gotten exponentially worse for Diddy in the months since.

Kesha’s move comes after Homeland Security agents raided Diddy’s home in Los Angeles and Miami as part of a sex trafficking investigation. Diddy is also facing numerous other lawsuits which accuse him of various instances of misconduct and worse. He’s denied all of the claims against him and has yet to face any charges. His lawyer, Aaron Dyers, labeled the raids on his properties a “gross overuse of military-level force” in a statement at the time. “There is no excuse for the excessive show of force and hostility exhibited by authorities or the way his children and employees were treated,” he elaborated.

MC Lyte Causes Controversy After Old Lyrics About Age Gaps Resurface

MC Lyte is one of hip-hop’s premier legends, and few femcees have reached her level of acclaim and influence since. However, as every other rapper under the sun, her lyrics– especially early ones– often fell under much scrutiny with differing or shifting societal standards of what can and can’t appear in a rap song. To explain, Ray Daniels of the Culture Report podcast recently brought up lines from the New York rapper’s 1991 cut “2 Young 4 What,” which she released when she was 21 years of age. In them, she makes some worrisome remarks on the age gap between her and a potential male partner.

“It may sound nasty and it may sound mean, but I’m into little boys that are about seventeen,” the 53-year-old rapped back in the day. “I don’t know why, but they put up a fight, and hot damn that excites the MC Lyte.” “I gotta ask: why are we not up in arms about the MC Lyte line?” Ray Daniels inquired about these lines. When asked what to do about them, the host said that folks should hold her to the same standards of– in his words– the likes of Bill Cosby and Russell Simmons. “I want the same thing everyone else got, I want the same anger, and the same vigor, and the same grooming, that they talked about… I want the same anger for this!” he expressed.

Of course, this prompted a lot of debate on social media surrounding double standards and how seriously folks should take lyrics like these. Some defended MC Lyte’s very young age when writing these lines, whereas others believe that folks don’t make these excuses for men. What many did agree on is that these lyrics aged quite poorly. Still, four bars don’t invalidate decades of hard work, and the Lyte as a Rock artist is still a leading figure for hip-hop these days.

But the G-Unit mogul chose to make a very odd comparison regarding another enemy in the rap game.

Furthermore, 50 Cent reposted a TMZ article on his Diddy documentary and also included controversial lyrics from his longtime rap rival Rick Ross, plus a picture of him with the Bad Boy business titan. For those unaware, he caught heat some years ago for very troubling and insensitive bars on the track “U.O.E.N.O.” “Put molly all in her champagne, she ain’t even know it,” Ross spit on the 2013 cut. “I took her home and I enjoyed that, she ain’t even know it.” “WTF at some point you gotta just do the right thing,” 50 wrote as the post’s caption.
