Elon Musk has posted a poll asking his Twitter followers whether he should step down as head of the social media platform. Musk says that he plans to abide by the results, whatever they may be.
“Should I step down as head of Twitter?” Musk tweeted. “I will abide by the results of this poll.”
In further posts, he added: “As the saying goes, be careful what you wish, as you might get it,” as well as, “Those who want power are the ones who least deserve it.”
Prior to releasing the poll, he announced that decisions would be made democratically going forward.
He said: “Going forward, there will be a vote for major policy changes. My apologies. Won’t happen again.”
Musk didn’t confirm who at Twitter would replace him. However, when Lex Fridman offered to take up the mantle, he gave some insight as to how he’s been coping with taking over the site.
“You must like pain a lot,” Musk said. “One catch: you have to invest your life savings in Twitter and it has been in the fast lane to bankruptcy since May. Still want the job?”
As of Sunday night, the poll sits at 56.5% in favor of Musk stepping down and 43.5% in support of him staying on. Over 10 million users have participated.
It isn’t the first time that Musk has made a decision for the platform based on a user poll. He previously welcomed Donald Trump back to the site after conducting a similar poll.
As has come to be the norm lately, Elon Musk is making waves with his leadership decisions over at Twitter. After making the controversial decision to suspend the accounts of a number of journalists for allegedly doxxing him, the CEO is now responding to the backlash by reinstating several of their profiles.
As TMZ reports, the South African shared a statement on Friday (December 16) after polling the app’s users to see if they thought he should unsuspend “accounts who doxxed [his] exact location in real-time.” 58.7% of the votes came in favour of the reporters getting their privileges back in real-time. The remainder (41.3%) felt as though a seven-day penalty would be fair.
“The people have spoken. Accounts that doxxed my location will have their suspensions lifted now,” Musk wrote yesterday. Among those who he banned were Donie O’Sullivan of CNN and Drew Harwell from the Washington Post.
Additionally, Matt Binder (Mashable), Ryan Mac (New York Times), and Micah Lee (The Intercept) were recipients of Musk’s punishment. The Tesla founder specifically has accused them of disclosing personal details about his whereabouts. Per TMZ, much of the information these journalists use is already publicly available.
Those accused by the 51-year-old have vehemently denied any publishing of his private info. However, they do have some theories as to why he temporarily shut down their profiles in the first place.
The journalists seem to think that Musk is taking offence to their less-than-favourable coverage of him. After he made the decision to suspend reporters, both Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and House Intelligence Committee chairman Adam Schiff were quick to put the engineer on blast.
During an online chat that found the father of 10 meeting with those whose accounts he put on hold, it was pointed out that he’s been acting in a hypocritical manner. Previously, Elon criticized Twitter’s bosses for their suppression of the infamous Hunter Biden story.
In response to the call out, the CEO made it plain and clear, “If you dox, you get suspended. End of story, that’s it.” Afterward, he quickly left the conversation.
It seems Elon Musk is facing haters all over as of late. Just last week, he was booed by the crowd at a Dave Chappelle show. Read more about that here, and check back with HNHH later for more pop culture news updates.
Elon Musk and Twitter will be relaunching the Twitter Blue service on Monday. The company has announced that iPhone users will have to pay a higher fee to access the subscription.
“We’re relaunching @TwitterBlue on Monday,” the official Twitter account posted. “Subscribe on web for $8/month or on iOS for $11/month to get access to subscriber-only features, including the blue checkmark.”
The Twitter Blue service will allow subscribers access to a blue checkmark, the ability to edit tweets, and upload high-quality videos.
The decision to increase the price for iOS users comes following Musk’s feud with Apple. The increase is likely to cover a fee put forth on Twitter by Apple’s App Store. Musk called out the company on Twitter, last month, directly tagging Tim Cook in his posts.
In the time since, Musk and Cook have met up and come to a mutual understanding.
“Good conversation,” Musk said of meeting the Apple CEO. “Among other things, we resolved the misunderstanding about Twitter potentially being removed from the App Store. Tim was clear that Apple never considered doing so.”
Musk’s takeover of Twitter hasn’t come without its share of controversy. Massive layoffs, unbanning polarizing accounts, and more all culminated in the Telsa CEO being booed on stage with Dave Chappelle on Sunday night in San Francisco.
On top of all of this, he is the man behind the 2020 NBA lockdown. While the lockdown was inevitable, it was Gobert’s recklessness that ultimately shut down the NBA prematurely. Subsequently, a lockdown took place nationwide, while every other league stopped working as well.
Rudy Gobert Sides With Elon Musk
Despite this history with COVID, Gobert seems to be of the idea that Dr. Anthony Fauci is some sort of criminal. In the image below, you can see that Gobert liked a recent Elon Musk tweet in which the billionaire wrote “my pronouns are prosecute/fauci.”
Disregarding the fact that Musk’s tweet is a hacky joke, it’s clear that Gobert lacks self-awareness. As many pointed out, it is rich for Gobert to be siding with these types of COVID jokes. After all, he is the reason why the NBA was shutdown, to begin with. Furthermore, his most high-profile teammate had seven family members die due to the disease.
Gobert is someone who has frequently been roasted by NBA fans. Whether it be him crying over not making it to the All-Star game or the constant Shaq roasts, it’s clear that he isn’t exceptionally well-liked. Based on all of the tweets above, it is clear that this did him absolutely no favors.
Let us know what you think of Gobert, in the comments below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news from around the basketball world.
A crowd at Dave Chappelle’s latest show in San Francisco booed Elon Musk when the billionaire was brought on stage, Sunday night. Footage from the event shows Musk receiving overwhelming disapproval from the audience.
“Ladies and gentlemen, make some noise for the richest man in the world,” Chappelle said firstly to introduce Musk.
“It sounds like some of the people you fired are in the audience,” Chappelle joked. “All these people who are booing, and I’m just pointing out the obvious, you have terrible seats.”
When the boos persisted, Chappelle continued to defend a seemingly uncomfortable Musk.
“Don’t say nothing. It’ll only spoil the moment,” Chappelle further said. “Do you hear that sound, Elon? That’s the sound of pending civil unrest. I can’t wait to see what store you decimate next, motherfucker. You shut the fuck up.”
Twitter appears to have suspended the owner of the original video or they have deleted their account as there is a message reading: “This Tweet is from an account that no longer exists.”
Musk later responded to the video of the incident going viral on Twitter.
“Technically, it was 90% cheers & 10% boos (except during quiet periods), but, still, that’s a lot of boos, which is a first for me in real life (frequent on Twitter),” he wrote. “It’s almost as if I’ve offended SF’s unhinged leftists … but nahhh.”
Musk has been drawing plenty of criticism in recent weeks since purchasing Twitter. Over the weekend, he came under fire for criticizing Anthony Fauci with an unoriginal joke about pronouns.

The headlines surrounding Elon Musk’s chaotic takeover at Twitter have slowed down recently. However, a new update reveals that the CEO is having issues with his staff leaking private information to the media. As TMZ notes, the South African is responding by threatening legal action against anyone who breaks their contractual NDA.
Platformer editor Zoë Schiffer obtained a copy of the engineer’s correspondence with Twitter workers. She later directly shared quotes from it on her own profile. “NEW: Elon Musk is threatening to sue Twitter employees who leak confidential information to the press,” she wrote on Saturday (December 10).
“He’s asking staffers to sign a pledge indicating they’ve understood,” she went on. In the following thread, the journalist broke down what she read in the original document.
Musk’s email began, “As evidenced by the many detailed leaks of confidential Twitter information, a few people at our company continue to act in a manner contrary to the company’s interests and in violation of their NDA.”
“This will be said only once: If you clearly and deliberately violate the NDA that you signed when you joined, you accept liability to the full extent of the law & Twitter will immediately seek damages.”
The 51-year-old additionally let his staff know that “occasional slip-ups are understandable.” However, “breaking your word by sending detailed info to the media” with intentions of harming the website “will receive the response it deserves.”
According to Schiffer’s reporting, Twitter employees were given until 5 PM today to respond.
For his part, Musk has been posting commentary seemingly related to today’s events. “Twitter is both a social media company and a crime scene,” he penned on Saturday afternoon.
In his next post, the investor shared a meme. It surprisingly hints at him digging up some of the app’s “darkest secrets,” only causing more of a stir online.
Elsewhere in the news, Elon Musk’s brain implant company has been placed under investigation for potential animal abuse. Read more about that here, and share your thoughts on Twitter’s latest troubles in the comments.
Elon Musk has been at the forefront of global news for some time now. Between his divisive takeover of Twitter and a drastic drop in Tesla stock, Elon has had a less-than-stellar 2022.
To make matters worse for the SpaceX entrepreneur, his medical device company, Neuralink, is facing accusations of animal abuse. The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Inspector General is launching an investigation regarding violations of the Animal Welfare Act.
Neuralink has been working towards developing a brain implant for humans. With technology as advanced as this, the scientific company agrees that researchers must take their time to minimize harm to test subjects.
This is where the 51-year-old seems to diverge from the rest of his colleagues, instead, placing an emphasis on fast-tracking this project. He even recently surprisingly announced that human trials were set to begin within six months. However, Neuralink’s schedule may change due to the animal rights investigation.
Whether it’s amoral or not, animal testing has been standard practice in the field of medicine for a long time and will likely continue. While animals routinely die during these experiments, there are regulations in place that attempt to minimize these casualties.
However, Musk’s expectation of accelerated development has led to an overabundance of botched experiments. In February, reports of over a dozen primates were killed in experiments and this is likely just the beginning.
According to Reuters, Neuralink has killed around 1500 animals since 2018. These animals include rodents, pigs, primates, sheep, and possibly more. Several employees have voiced their concerns over the multi-billionaire’s disregard for policy. Some have even proposed large-scale changes to Neuralink’s testing process.
The leading cause of these botched procedures allegedly comes down to human error. Due to rushed operations, the proper preparations and planning were not fully fleshed out. This resulted in animals receiving implants unsuitably sized and sometimes even incorrect body parts.
With the investigation still underway, this hiccup in Musk’s schedule will likely force him to bump back human trials. Considering the turmoil surrounding Neuralink at the moment, this may be for the best.

While going live on Twitter Spaces, Elon Musk surprisingly answered whether or not he was suicidal. The billionaire shortly stated, “I do not have any suicidal thoughts,” adding, “If I committed suicide it’s not real.”
The Tesla founder also recently discussed possible threats to his safety.
According to the Daily Mail, Musk said, “Frankly, the risk of something bad happening or literally even being shot is quite significant.”
“I’m definitely not going to be doing any open-air car parades, let me put it that way. It’s not that hard to kill me if somebody wanted to, so hopefully they don’t,” he added. “Maybe I should be more worried than I am, but I think generally, if you do right by the people, you have the people on your side.”
Musk reportedly expressed the concerns after his multi-billion dollar buyout of Twitter and subsequent moves as CEO.
After purchasing the social media platform in a $44 billion deal, the South African native received backlash after laying off thousands of Twitter employees.
Musk is also facing scrutiny following the now-viral “Twitter Files.”
Per CNN, Matt Taibbi, an established journalist, shared the information in a Twitter thread after learning “details about behind-the-scenes discussions on Twitter’s content moderation decision-making, including the call to suppress a 2020 New York Post story about Hunter Biden and his laptop.”
Former president Donald Trump and Kanye West also had their accounts reinstated following Musk’s takeover of Twitter. The entrepreneur tweeted around the same time that Twitter’s new policy includes “freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach.”
He added, “Negative/hate tweets will be max deboosted & demonetized, so no ads or other revenue to Twitter.”
Last week, Kanye West received another suspension from the platform after going on an anti-Semitic rant and posting a swastika on his account.
On the decision to ban the rapper, Musk said in a tweet, “I tried my best. Despite that, he again violated our rule against incitement to violence. Account will be suspended.”

It seems like Elon Musk never stops, and in early 2020, he even found time to release an EDM song, “Don’t Doubt Ur Vibe.” It’s been about two-and-a-half years since the track came out and now it’s back, via a new Tesla ad.
The clip runs for about 90 seconds and features four Tesla cars putting on a light show in a warehouse, synchronized to the song. The tune’s lyrics — “Don’t doubt your vibe / Because it’s true / Don’t doubt your vibe / Because it’s you” — are also projected on a wall.
Meanwhile, Musk was recently amused by a Billie Eilish meme about him, which has childhood photos of them both and reads, “One day, Billie Eilish was walking outside and she saw a boy crying. She said to him ‘Here kid, have a roll of Air Conditioning Pair Coil 1/4’ by 3/8’ 410A 20m Polyethylene UV protected insulated Copper heat resistant to 120C. You’re destined to do great things.’ That boy was Elon Musk.” Musk added, “Still so grateful.”
Elsewhere, the world’s richest person recently declared his two main goals for the year are getting his SpaceX Starship to orbit and the wide release of FSD (full self-driving) in Tesla cars, adding, “Many other things, of course, but those are the 2 giant kahunas. Will require insane work by many super talented people, but, if anyone can do it, they can. It is an honor to work with such awesome human beings.”
