Dwyane Wade Calls Lil Wayne Meet Up A “Childhood Dream” Following Hall Of Fame Enshrinement

Dwyane Wade shared a video of himself meeting up with Lil Wayne and labeled it a “childhood dream” come true. In the clip, Wade joins Wayne as he raps the verse from his 2 Chainz collaboration, “Duffle Bag Boy.” 2 Chainz commented on the post: “I would of knocked that verse out for ya for a signed jersey and. Gab hug.”

Rocking a white undershirt and white pants, Wade rapped along with Wayne for the performance. Wayne thanked him for the opportunity after finishing the song.

Dwyane Wade On Stage With His Father

SPRINGFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS – AUGUST 12: 2023 inductee Dwyane Wade speaks on stage with his father Dwyane Wade Sr. during the 2023 Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame Induction at Symphony Hall on August 12, 2023 in Springfield, Massachusetts. (Photo by Mike Lawrie/Getty Images)

As for his Hall of Fame enshrinement speech, Wade reflected on his relationship with his father. In the emotional tribute, he thanked him for always pushing him to new limits and asked him to join him on stage in “basketball heaven.” “I started this off thanking you, and I want to end it the same way,” Wade told his father. “I owe you a debt of gratitude that I’ll never be able to repay. When I would cry and say, ‘I can’t,’ you made me go harder. You pushed me to the limits I didn’t know were inside of me [and] the hard work I put in was because I didn’t want to let you down.”

He continued: “We had the same exact dream and we carry the exact name, Dwyane Tyrone Wade. To know we hustled all the way to the Basketball Hall of Fame is God’s will. So Pops, I know your knees are a little sore, but will you join me on stage as we take our rightful step into basketball heaven?” After the two each said, “I love you,” to one another, Wade exclaimed, “We in the Hall of Fame, dog!” Other inductees included Gregg Popovich, Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, and more.

Dwyane Wade Shares Emotional Tribute To Allen Iverson Upon Receiving Hall Of Fame Jacket

Dwyane Wade has always been a player who has let his basketball speak for itself. A well-regarded figure both on and off the court, Wade truly left his mark on the NBA. During a 16-year career, Wade was a three-time champion, and 13-time All-Star. Wade is also 32nd on the NBA’s all-time scoring list, with 23,165 career points. He is perhaps best remembered for his role in the “Big Three” alongside Chris Bosh and Lebron James. Wade was seen as a no-doubt first-ballot Hall of Famer upon his retirement. However, Wade remained active in basketball following his retirement, buying a minority share in the Utah Jazz in 2021. Wade went as far as to call then-Jazz star Donovan Mitchell “Dwyane Wade 2.0”.

Wade officially became a first-ballot Hall of Famer earlier this year. He joins one of the most stacked Hall of Fame classes of all time. Wade enters the Hall alongside legends such as Pau Gasol, Dirk Nowitzki, Tony Parker, Gregg Popovich, and Becky Hammon. Other inductees included the late Jim Valvano and the 1976 Women’s Olympic Basketball Team. Wade, along with other inductees, will officially be enshrined in the Hall later today (August 12). However, Wade has already received one of the customary recognitions.

Wade Receives His Orange Jacket

In a ceremony held on August 11, Wade was given his official Hall of Fame orange jacket. His jacket was presented by one of Wade’s heroes, fellow NBA icon Allen Iverson. “It means everything to me,” Wade told PEOPLE. “I wear the number three jersey because of Allen Iverson and just have so much respect for that man. No one has been able to use [Iverson] yet, and that I’m the first one to be able to say Allen Iverson has presented me into the Hall of Fame…that right there, if you tell 17-year-old Dwyane that, I wouldn’t believe you.”

Initially, Wade wanted his longtime Miami Heat co-star Udonis Haslem to present him. However, your presenter must be an existing Hall of Famer and Haslem only announced his retirement this offseason. “So, when I started thinking about guys that are Hall-of-Famers, guys that I looked up to, right away three names came to mind,” Wade says. “It’s Michael Jordan, it’s Kobe Bryant, and it’s Allen Iverson. Obviously, my brother Kobe couldn’t be in that seat, couldn’t be in one of those chairs to present me in.” Eventually, Wade settled on the Sixers legend.

Dwyane Wade Brushes Off Latest Paul Pierce Beef

In a recent appearance on It Is What It Is, Paul Pierce took aim at his longtime rival, Dwyane Wade. “My skills went unappreciated because I didn’t get to play with a lot of great players,” Pierce told Cam’ron and Ma$e when discussing the lack of consistent success in his long NBA career. Furthermore, Pierce said that if his “Big Three” with Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen had come together sooner, he would have multiple NBA rings. This of course was widely taken as a knock against Wade and the implication that Wade’s success came from his partnership with LeBron and Chris Bosh.

It’s hard to put up a 1-to-1 comparison of the two players, namely because they didn’t play the same position. However, Wade is widely considered the better play. He put up better points and assists per game as well as being the better shooter. Of course, Pierce had a three-point shot that Wade didn’t. However, at the end of the day, they are both Hall of Fame players with iconic careers. Wade just happens to have more rings than Pierce. Furthermore, instead of re-igniting a mostly dormant beef, Wade just found Pierce’s new comments kind of amusing.

Wade Takes A Playful Jab At Pierce

“Rent’s expensive in America and I’m living rent-free,” Wade told The Dan Le Batard Show. “This is why I love the media. It’s documented. I don’t need to say anything, everything is documented. I’ll just let y’all talk about all that, it sounds better from y’all anyway. I’m done playing the game of basketball, I’m not comparing myself to someone who’s playing the game or not playing the game. That’s not my challenge anymore…I went and got my Avengers. And everybody was mad that I got to play with different guys.”

Of course, Paul Pierce isn’t the only person who has been talking a little bit of trash about Wade. Fellow 2023 Hall of Famer Dirk Nowitzki also opened up about Wade in a recent interview. “I wouldn’t say we’re friends,” the Mavs icon said. “I think there’s a mutual sense of respect for each other’s career and obviously were cordial. There’s no bad blood, obviously, anymore. We all moved on, things were said on both sides or done that neither side liked, but that’s part of competition at the highest level.”

In the latter half of the post, Miami included a candid photo that finds her posing alongside Dwyane Wade and his wife, Gabrielle Union, as well as R&B icon Keyshia Cole. The group was celebrating the NBA star’s upcoming induction into the Hall of Fame with a FWRD bash, and the smiles on all of their faces prove that good times were had all around.

On the topic of Union and Wade, the stylish couple began trending online in the spring after the Bring It On actress revealed that she and her husband split things 50/50. While some are in favour of the balanced agreement, others have been poking fun at Wade for not spoiling his partner more. Dirk Nowitzki On Relationship With Dwyane Wade: “I Wouldn’t Say We’re Friends”

Dallas Mavericks legend Dirk Nowitzki reflected on his relationship with longtime Miami Heat rival, Dwyane Wade, during a recent interview with Marc Stein on The Saturday Stein Line.

“I wouldn’t say we’re friends,” the former NBA Most Valuable Player said. “I think there’s a mutual sense of respect for each other’s career and obviously were cordial.” Nowitzki further clarified: “There’s no bad blood, obviously, anymore. We all moved on, things were said on both sides or done that neither side liked, but that’s part of competition at the highest level.”

Joining Wade and Nowitzki in the latest Hall of Fame class are Tony Parker, Gregg Popovich, Pau Gasol, and Manu Ginobili. “I’m both humbled and honored to have made it to basketball heaven,” Wade said after the class was announced.

In a separate interview with The Dallas Morning News, Nowitzki expressed his excitement to be joining the star-studded class. “The fact that I’m going in with Tony and Manu and Pau is wonderful,” Nowitzki told the outlet. “We competed internationally against each other for a long, long time, and then obviously some huge games in the NBA, so it’s kind of great how that worked.”

When asked about Wade, Nowitzki elaborated on how they’ve reached the aforementioned “cordial” state of their relationship. “We sat together with his family during one of the dinners, and we talked,” Nowitzki said. “And so I think it’s going to be great. I think there’s a lot of mutual respect there now. I know we’ve gone through some stuff in our careers, but at the end of the day not everybody you compete against at the highest level can be friends. It’s just not how it works. I think there were some things said on both sides that weren’t liked by the other side, but you know what? This is 20-something years later now, almost. So there’s really no hard feelings, and it’s gonna be a fun week with him.” The 2023 enshrinement ceremony will be held on Saturday, August 12.

Dwyane Wade has become the latest Chicago Sky’s ownership group member.

“We all talk about support, and support looks different for everyone,” Wade said to ESPN. “And so instead of tweeting out and saying ‘go support the W,’ instead of showing up at the game and supporting, I wanted to take it to that next level, and this was the next level for me.

“It’s a great opportunity to be a part of the league in its very early stages. … Growth is going to happen, and so I want to be a part of the growth of this league.”

Wade’s percentage has yet to be disclosed and is subject to the WNBA Board of Governors.

“This is meaningful for the players, and this is meaningful for the city as a whole,” Sky co-owner and operating chairman Nadia Rawlinson said. “Dwyane Wade is a son of Chicago. And the thing that differentiates us, I think, from other franchises is that we are Chicago. We are the future of Chicago. We are the culture of Chicago. We are in it and of it, and he is very much sort of a main character in that story. And we’re just pleased and thrilled at what the future can bring with both of us working together.”

Gabrielle Union Fires Back At Troll Who Criticized Her Bikini Pictures

Gabrielle Union called out a troll online who complained about her continuing to post bikini pictures into her 50s. She addressed the incident during an appearance on the Who What Wear with Hillary Kerr podcast, last week. Union remarked that she’ll never get too old to show off her body and she’ll one day have her “ass up in the casket.”

“Somebody said, ‘You’re old enough to be somebody’s grandma, why are you still in — like wearing swimsuits?’” Union said. “I’m like, ‘First of all, they’re not just swimsuits. They are thongs. And you’re gonna see these cheeks until my ass literally falls off, and I might just wear a bikini in the casket.”

“I don’t know. That just might be for you, for that one commenter … This is for you bitch …It’s just gonna be like, me in a thong, like, ass-up in the casket,” she further joked. From there, Union discussed aging as a celebrity more broadly. She says that people make women feel “invisible” once they hit a certain age.

“At 35, they start treating you like you’ve got osteoporosis. You start becoming invisible and it’s a weird, empty feeling to feel like you’re disappearing in front of your own eyes,” Gabrielle shared. “You start taking on the same attitude as [a] society that believes that you lack value.”

The lives of 60 young men will change tonight when they are picked up in the NBA Draft. One NBA legend, Dwyane Wade, had advice for the young hoops stars when he encountered TMZ Sports.

“Take in the moment, it goes fast. You only get one draft,” Wade said. He also offered some monetary advice.

“Try to get you somebody in your life that really knows finances,” Wade said. “Somebody who, hopefully, you can build a relationship with. Hopefully, you can build a trust with eventually.”

That last one is a big fact as money will come fast and in large amounts. You can hear it from Wade below.
