Dwight Howard Not Being Signed By The Warriors

The Golden State Warriors will not be signing veteran big Dwight Howard. Howard, who spent last season playing in Taiwan, spent two days with the Warriors this week. However, Golden State opted not to sign the eight-time All-Star and former first-overall pick. “The Warriors are not expected to sign Dwight Howard or another veteran center ahead of training camp. Howard had a two-day visit with the Warriors this week that included meetings and workouts, but the Warriors are expected now to maintain flexibility to sign a potential big man later in camp or into the regular season,” reported Shams Charania.

Howard is expected to meet with other interested teams next week. Despite this, it appears to be growing increasingly unlikely that Howard will be back in the league this season. Howard’s last NBA action was as part of the Lakers back in 2021. He turns 38 in December. He averaged 6.2 points and 5.9 rebounds per game across 60 games in his last NBA season.

Howard Eyes The Olympics

Despite his NBA uncertainty, Howard is eager to represent Team USA at the Paris Olympics next year. As the US looks to build a superteam, Howard made it clear that he wanted to be a part of it. Furthermore, he went as far as to say that if he wasn’t selected, he would declare for Taiwan and “drop 85” at the tournament. In the late 2000s, Howard was a go-to pick for the national team. He won Olympic gold medal at Beijing 2008 and World Cup bronze at s well as a World Cup bronze at Japan 2006.

There are just two problems with Howard’s plan. The first is that Taiwanese citizenship requires five years of residency, which Howard doesn’t have. The second is that, eligible or not, Howard would still be watching the Olympics from his home as Taiwan is not able to qualify for the Olympic tournament. Only three teams from Asia and Oceania – New Zealand, Lebanon, and the Philippines – will participate in qualifiers next year for the four remaining Olympic spots.

Dwight Howard To Meet With The Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors will meet with Dwight Howard next week, according to Shams Charania. The Warriors have spent the latter half of the offseason searching for a depth big man. Howard is 37 and has spent the last two years in Taiwan. He last played in the NBA in 2022 following his third stint on the Lakers.

Howard is an eight-time All-Star, last earning the honor in 2014. Furthermore, he has also been named to five All-NBA First Teams, the last coming in 2012. Other players the Warriors have considered adding include Blake Griffin. However, as noted by The Athletic, “Would Howard enter the situation with the correct mindset? If he doesn’t play for two straight weeks, would he be fine with that? If they tell him to rebound, remain physical but never expect a play run in his direction, would he remain content? Is there any concern he’d become a distraction on the sideline or in the locker room for a franchise that is already attempting quite the chemistry experiment bringing Chris Paul into the mix?”

Howard Says Team USA Or Else

Elsewhere, Howard has spoken on his desire to play with Team USA at the 2024 Olympics. In the late 2000s, Howard was a go-to pick for the national team. He won a gold medal at the Beijing Games in 2008 as well as a World Cup bronze in 2006. However, he is likely on the outside looking in when it comes to 2024. Despite this, Howard is adamant that he be selected. Furthermore, he has gone as far as to say that if he isn’t selected, he will play for Taiwan and “drop 85”.

There’s just one problem with this assertion. Taiwan (or Chinese Taipei as it is referred to by the IOC) can’t qualify for the Olympics. Taiwan is not one of the 24 remaining teams that will compete for one of the four remaining Olympic spots next July. Furthermore, Howard has not lived in Taiwan for five years, meaning he cannot be naturalized as a citizen in time for the Olympics.

Dwight Howard Makes Bizzare Threat If He Doesn’t Make The US Olympic Team

Dwight Howard has become the latest player to express interest in representing the United States at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. Team USA has won the last four Olympic gold medals but has elsewhere struggled on the international stage. In particular, the national team has come under fire after failing to medal at the recent FIBA World Cup. This has led a bevy of stars such as LeBron, AD, and Steph Curry to express their interest in competing in Paris.

There’s just one problem with this – Taiwan (or Chinese Taipei as it is referred to by the IOC) can’t qualify for the Olympics. Taiwan is not one of the 24 remaining teams that will compete for one of the four remaining Olympic spots next July.

Howard Aside, Who Is Still Competing For An Olympic Spot?

As mentioned, there are 24 nations still eligible for an Olympic berth. They will be drawn into four tournaments of six teams and compete at the start of July 2024. The winner of each mini-tournament will get an Olympic berth. Most of the teams still competing come from the FIBA World Cup and include everyone from Puerto Rico and Lebanon to European powerhouses like Spain and Greece.

Beyond these 24 contenders, eight teams have already punched their ticket to the Paris Games. Aside from hosts France, the other seven teams earned their berth in the FIBA World Cup. Aside from the US, Canada, South Sudan, Japan, Germany, Serbia, and Australia have all qualified. That already adds a wealth of NBA and NBA-adjacent talent to the World Cup. Even if the US sends a superteam, this might be their toughest road to the gold medal in some time.

Moreover, Howard has responded to the allegations, although he maintains that he has done nothing wrong. Many have commented on this situation, including the likes of Cam’ron and Ma$e.

Furthermore, Howard is also being sued by his former butler for defamation. Unfair labor practices were also brought up in the lawsuit. Dwight Howard Loves His Hardware

Cam’ron And Mase Decide The Worst Part About The Dwight Howard Assault Allegations Is Howard’s Sexuality

Last month, Dwight Howard was sued for sexual assault and battery. Model Stephen Harper has claimed after a period of flirting with Howard, he traveled to Howard’s home for a threesome. However, Harper states that despite retracting his consent to participate, Howard performed non-consensual oral sex on him and forced Harper to reciprocate in kind.

These claims, however, were just the most recent allegations against Howard. Royce Reed, the mother of Howard’s eldest child, recently released a number of shocking revelations about the former NBA player. “This man is evil. Y’all fall for it every time. Ask him why he’s telling a 12yo he’s gay bcuz he hadn’t “touched anything” or watching porn with them? Better yet, why it took 4.5 years to fire the nanny that molested 2 of his kids. I got time today. He took this little boy from this grandmother that raised him and kept her in court for 2yrs only to give him to his parents while he was overseas. Reed also claimed that Howard had asked her to be the “matriarch” of his “polyamory quest”. However, It Is What It Is decided to give a very bizarre take on the situation.

Cam’ron And Ma$e Discuss Howard Assault Allegations

On a recent episode of It Is What It Is, Cam’ron claimed that days before the assault allegations were made public, Howard’s team reached. Their intention was apparently to secure an appearance for Howard. Cam’ron then proceeded to ask his co-host how he would react. In particular, given the revelations, how he would react if he was on a team and playing with Howard. “I don’t want to say it because we’re on the air. But I would probably want Howard to have his own space,” Ma$e argued. So right off the bat, that’s just segregation. And no, we shouldn’t segregate same-sex attracted athletes just because of their sexual attraction. One of the most infuriating things about straight people is their narcissistic obsession that they are attractive to same-sex attracted individuals.

Cam’ron appears to agree with Ma$e, bringing up a video where Odell Beckham Jr. appears to appreciate his teammates’ asses. But don’t worry, Cam’ron later clarifies that he’s not homophobic because he “got gay relatives”. However, what’s most telling is that during this entire clip, no one actually brings up the allegations Howard has been hit with. The entire conversation is done through the lens of Howard’s sexuality, not the heinous acts he has been accused of committing.

Dwight Howard Compares LeBron James And Kobe Bryant’s Teammate Vibes

Dwight Howard played with some of the NBA’s greatest during his 18 years in the league. This included seasons with LeBron and Kobe during Howard’s multiple stints with the Lakers. Howard played with Kobe during the 2012-13 season and with LeBron during the 2019-20 and 2021-22 seasons.

During a recent appearance on My Expert Opinion, Howard broke down the vibes each legendary player gave off as a teammate. “LeBron almost act like someone from the south side of Georgia,” Howard said. “We act kinda like twins — joking, silly, have a good time. We get on the court, we still gonna have a good time but we’re gonna dominate. Kobe ain’t bullshitting with nobody, he might not come in the locker room and talk, and everybody like, ‘So, he just gonna walk all the way past us, not dap nobody up, give a head nod or nothing? He’s just walked past us,” Howard noted.

Howard Reflects On Kobe And LeBron Partnerships

However, Howard’s comments weren’t intended as a knock against Kobe. “As I got older, I started to realize more of how he [Kobe] felt,” Howard said. “And as a young ballplayer, you’re not seeing that. You think the game lasts forever. When you get older, you see I ain’t got the same amount of time and energy to put into this, that, and the third. It seemed like we fell out, but it wasn’t really like we fell out, we just had some disagreements on the court, like any other team and any other teammate.”

Despite this, it’s not the first time in recent months that Kobe’s mentality has been brought up. Charles Barkley recently used it to explain why he didn’t think Kobe would have been a good fit for Inside the NBA. “I don’t know if he was built to have fun,” he said. “He was a great person, I liked him, rest in peace. But like, he was a real serious guy. And the problem you have, if you’re gonna do our show, I don’t think people understand, we’re on from seven to two in the morning. Nobody wants to be damn serious from seven to two in the morning, ok?,” Barkley told the New Heights podcast.

Dwight Howard Reaches Agreement with His Ex to Reduce Child Support Payments

h

Basketball star Dwight Howard and his ex, Tiffany Render, have agreed to an update to their child support following his request to decrease payments due to his change in income.

According to Radar Online, Howard and Render have come to a total of $3K, down from the previous number of $12K. In 2015, Render sued Howard for paternity and child support, leading to the initial monthly payment to support his daughter Layla. At the time, Howard was making $21 million a year with his NBA contract.

In addition to the total, Howard and Render worked out a visitation and custody schedule conducive to his playing schedule.

With Howard’s yearly salary now at $2 million, the new total was awarded due to “a significant change” in his income. As part of the court proceedings, Howard asked for Render to pay his legal fees, which she denied, and also stated he failed to fulfill his duties as a parent.

In addition to Layla, Howard has four more kids.

Dwight Howard Causing More Drama With Baby Mother

Dwight Howard was having fun about a month ago, commenting on eliminated NBA playoff teams and calling out specific players to join him on his Taiwan team. But now he’s on social media catching a lot of flak for things that are not related to basketball. After being called out by Royce Reed, the mother of his eldest child Braylon, about abusing his son, Dwight is now in hot water regarding Reed and how he handled her pregnancy. Reed said that when she told him about being pregnant, Dwight Howard then ghosted her for two days before any response.

When Reed finally talked to his best friend, she alleged that “This man offered me a massive amount of money to say that Braylon was not his. That they would pay for my house, they would pay off any debt that I had, that they would give me a certain amount of money a month if I said that it wasn’t his.” Royce Reed said no to these offers and got attorneys involved. Reportedly, she says that Dwight Howard and the Orlando Magic asked to have a paternity test conducted at their facility, to which she refused.

Dwight Howard and Royce Reed have been going at it for over a decade now. Howard sued Reed for defamation in 2010, which he won. She spoke about how Dwight would beat Braylon with a belt in 2014, continuing to ignore the court order regarding speaking about Dwight Howard. The two have been trying to make joint parenting work for some time, but Reed is through with keeping silent on the drama. She wants everyone to know that he is “evil,” making allegations left and right.

Howard has yet to comment on these accusations outright. However, he posted on his social media that he was working out with his kids at his home gym. He’s showcasing that he’s a good parent by instilling good habits in his children. But with this current accusation, it’s clear that Royce Reed doesn’t care about Dwight Howard’s home gym workouts. She’s also not a fan of his parenting style, as she accused him of allegedly beating Braylon with a belt. Howard admitted to doing so but didn’t consider it to be “wrong.” He still plays basketball in the Taiwanese League.

Dwight Howard Claims His Prime Was Better Than Nikola Jokic

Dwight Howard is nothing if not a workhorse basketball player. The first overall pick in 2004, he went on to have a dominant career in the NBA. Eight-time all-star, five-time all-NBA first team, a championship in 2020. Furthermore, his defense was truly elite. He won back-to-back-to-back Defensive Player of the Year awards and made four all-defensive first teams. Add in an Olympic gold medal and a host of other accolades and you have a first-ballot Hall of Famer right there.

However, Howard isn’t technically retired. Starting in 2022, Howard has been playing in the Taiwanese League. At the end of his first season, he had captured an all-star nod and Most Valuable Import. He also earned first-team honors for both the league as a whole and all-defense. However, Howard is now making some bold claims about Nikola Jokić.

Howard Claims Better Prime Than Jokic

Howard went off while speaking to Complex. “Obviously, people going to say Jokić can score. He got all those offensive skills. But at the same time, I was getting 38 and 20, 45-18, 19, 20, and I’m doing all this with twos. No threes, all twos. I’m doing this with lobs. I’m not getting a lot of post-up attempts like Jokic. He’s getting way more opportunities I would say. And I was just in a different era. So, people look at that and say, “Well, Jokić, he scores and does all this stuff.” And no offense, I think he’s great. I love Jokić, I don’t want people to think that I’m trying to hate even comparing, but I’m going to take myself. I know how dominant I was and I know what I could do with my skills. And on the defensive end and on the offensive end I was quick enough to get past everybody.”

He continued. “So, I didn’t necessarily have to use skill moves and stuff like that all the time to score. I use my speed a lot, I use power to finesse or sometimes speed to finish with power. I just had an array of different things but people just remember seeing me dunk the ball on people’s head. And I love Jokić and I’m happy for him. I think he’s one of the best centers that ever played the game on basketball. [But] I’m Dwight Howard. I know what I’ve done in this league.” At the time of writing, Howard has 19485 points (55th) and 10476 rebounds (10th). Jokić has 12054 points (273rd) and 6273 rebounds (165th).

Howard Preaches Hard Work In Gym Videos

“In the process of being GREAT it’s going to be laughs, frowns, smiles, tears, blood, and sweat but that’s what is needed for us to succeed as individuals and also collectively as a family 🙏🏾I’m just teaching my kids what it means to be resilient, to be determined and to have discipline. Every day is a battle and some battles are going to be harder to win than others, but we have to fight them until we WIN!And if we WIN the day every day we’ll never lose in the end ! We have to finish every mission we begin and follow through. That’s the most important part ! Never say you can’t! Remember Philippians 4:13 🤔… YOU CAN and you will! Just follow through. That’s how you be Great 🙏🏾,” Howard wrote on Instagram.

The caption accompanied a collection of videos of Howard putting his kids through fairly intense workouts. In one video, he leads his kids into their home gym with the caption “Me & my kids walking into the gym @ 7am every morning”. Another shows Howard encouraging his visibly upset son to push through the pain to complete a workout on a stationary bike. His kids are also seen boxing with full pads. In a calmer image, Howard is seen doing Tai Chi with his daughters. For the record, Philippians 4:13 reads “I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”
