Joe Budden Says Ye is ‘Attention Seeking’ by Joining Disses Against Drake

Joe Budden Reacts to Logic’s “It Was a Good Day” Cover

Joe Budden joins the list of media personalities who think Kanye West is doing a lot by dissing Drake. Speaking on his podcast, Budden blasts Ye’s remix of “Like That” and his alleged conversation with the rap coalition against Drake.

“This not about you,” Budden says. “This is some attention seeking bs.”

You can hear it all from Budden below.

Charlamagne Tha God is also not a fan of how Ye is moving. Hitting The Breakfast Club, Charla dubbed the artist formerly known as Kanye West the “leader of the legion of lame.”

The comment comes after Ye appeared on Justin LaBoy’s podcast and stated he is part of the group that is looking to eliminate Drake.

“Kanye West is the leader of the legion of lame,” Charlamagne Tha God said. “What a hating-ass human. What type of man sits around saying, ‘We were all energized by the elimination’ of another man?”

You can hear Charlamagne’s full statement below.

Speaking to Justin LaBoy on The Download podcast, Ye stated he got a call from Future, which led to his “Like That” remix.

“[Future] called me and I went to the studio and laid that. We went through the creative process of adding the chords and called the Hooligans out in London to get on the joint,” Ye said. “Everybody was very, very energized about the elimination of Drake.”

Entering the beef streets with the “Hooligans,” Ye has added a spin on the “Like That” beat and says he has K Dot’s back.

Reigniting the beef, Ye referred to Universal Music Group CEO as Drake’s “master”:

Where Lucian, serve you master nigga
You caught a lil bag for your Masters didn’t ya?
Lifetime deal, I feel bad for niggas

After that, J. Cole catches a jab: “Play J. Cole, get the pussy dry.”

You can hear it all below.

Drake Claims He’s Been Waiting “10 Years” For Kendrick Lamar Battle

Drake versus Kendrick Lamar has been a long time coming. They were the defining rappers of the 2010s, and they even featured on each other’s classic albums. Nothing was the same, however, after K. Dot put out the “Control” verse and referenced Drake by name in 2013. They have have been subliminally dissing each other ever since, which makes the sudden explosion of diss tracks and blatant call-outs so exciting. The gloves are finally off, and one of them could not be more eager to engage in full-on battle.

DJ Akademiks has become the unofficial mouthpiece for Drake throughout the Lamar feud. The online personality has broken news on his live streams and updated fans with messages from the 6 God. He continued to do so during a recent episode of his Off the Record podcast. Akademiks clarified that he doesn’t share every text exchange he has with Drake, but felt that the rapper’s comments about Lamar warranted reporting. He told the other guests on the show that Drake has been waiting for “10 years” to battle Lamar, and is hopeful his opponent rises to the challenge.

DJ Akademiks Says Drake Wants A “Showdown” Now

DJ Akademiks relayed Drake’s frustration with K. Dot and his pattern of dropping combative verses and then going away. “[Drake’s] watched the pattern,” Ak noted. “Like he specifically told me, ‘I’ve watched this guy do the same bait and switch every time. He drops like a verse that people are hyped up about. I’m always ready to engage, always ready to defend myself, and then [Lamar] goes ghost and nothing happens.” Akademiks then referenced the diss track that K. Dot has allegedly been writing for several years, and inferred that Drake’s desire to engage is what has fueled his trolling via social media posts and diss tracks.

“You can tell [Drake] wants the showdown to happen now,” Ak added. “Not for everybody to go back to their corners and reconvene another time. He wants it now.” Drake’s constant trolling could not be more different in approach to Lamar, who has been silent since he dropped the “Like That” verse. Fans have debated which approach has been more effective thus far, but a decisive winner can’t be decided until Lamar decides to come out of hiding and drop a response to Drake’s “Push Ups.”

Tupac’s Estate Issues Cease-and-Desist Letter to Drake Over AI-Voice in “Taylor Made Freestyle”

a

The Tupac Shakur estate has warned Drake for using an AI-generated voice of the late rap icon in his diss track to Kendrick Lamar.

According to Billboard, the estate is threatening to sue and stated the voice was “a flagrant violation” and “blatant use” of Pac’s legacy.

The message was delivered via a cease-and-desist letter filed by Howard King, requesting Drake pull the song within 24 hours or face all of the estate’s “legal remedies.”

“The Estate is deeply dismayed and disappointed by your unauthorized use of Tupac’s voice and personality,” King wrote in the letter. “Not only is the record a flagrant violation of Tupac’s publicity and the estate’s legal rights, it is also a blatant abuse of the legacy of one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time. The Estate would never have given its approval for this use.”

Additionally, the letter reads, “The unauthorized, equally dismaying use of Tupac’s voice against Kendrick Lamar, a good friend to the Estate who has given nothing but respect to Tupac and his legacy publicly and privately, compounds the insult.”

Last Friday (April 19) on Instagram, Drake dropped off the “Taylor Made Freestyle.”

Upon pressing play, you will hear something you wouldn’t expect: Tupac’s voice. The single opens with an AI Tupac verse requesting KDot stand up for the West Coast. It is followed by an AI Snoop Dogg asking for the same.

AI Tupac raps:
Fuck this Canadian lightskin, Dot
We need an undebated West Coast victory, man
Call him a bitch for me
Talk about him liking young girls, that’s a gift from me
Heard it on the Budden Podcast, it’s gotta be true
They told me the spirit of Makaveli is alive
In the nigga under five-foot five, so it’s gotta be you

AI Snoop added:
‘Cause right now it’s looking like you writing out the game plan on how to lose
How to bark up the wrong tree and then get your head popped in a crowded room
World is watching this chess game, but are you out of moves?

After that, Drake pops in for his own slick talk:
The first one really only took me an hour or two
The next one is really ’bout to bring out the coward in you
But now we gotta wait a fucking week ’cause Taylor Swift is your new Top
And if you ’bout to drop, she gotta approve

Since “Like That,” your tone changed a little, you not as enthused
How are you not in the booth? It feel like you kinda removed
You tryna let this shit die down, nah, nah, nah
Not this time, nigga, you followin’ through

He ends the song with a message, “I know you’re in that NY apartment, you struggling right now I know it.”

You can hear it below.

Snoop Dogg offered his response to his voice being used in Drake’s diss song to Kendrick Lamar.

Hitting Instagram, Snoop said: “They did what? When? How? Are you sure? Y’all have a good night.”

Additionally, Snoop revealed his phone exploded once the song hit the net.

You can see Snoop’s response below.

Former Death Row head Suge Knight doesn’t like Drake’s “Taylor Made Freestyle” diss to Kendrick Lamar. Not because it attacked Lamar but because it put 2Pac and Snoop’s voices together on the song.

Speaking on his Collect Call with Suge Knight podcast from Breakbeat Media, Suge said, “Putting him on a song and dissing Kendrick for everybody entertainment–that ain’t how it go.”

He added, “Then putting him on a song with Snoop, who was a part of his downfall and exit, ain’t ever a good look. Pac was a king on that chessboard. He never was a pawn, so he can’t make him be a pawn now.”

Tupac’s Estate Threatened To Sue Drake Over His Use Of The Late Rapper’s Voice In A Kendrick Lamar Diss

In an ironic twist, Drake has been issued a cease-and-desist letter by the estate of the late Tupac Shakur over using an AI-generated reproduction of the West Coast rap icon’s voice in a Kendrick Lamar diss track. According to Billboard, the estate sent the letter today demanding he pull the “Taylor Made Freestyle” from streaming services or face legal action.

The estate’s attorney Howard King wrote, “The Estate is deeply dismayed and disappointed by your unauthorized use of Tupac’s voice and personality. Not only is the record a flagrant violation of Tupac’s publicity and the estate’s legal rights, it is also a blatant abuse of the legacy of one of the greatest hip-hop artists of all time. The Estate would never have given its approval for this use.”

The irony comes from the fact that Drake himself seemed to frown on the use of AI to duplicate his own voice as recently as last year, when a fake song using his and The Weeknd’s digitally reproduced voices was taken down by Universal Music Group copyright strikes. He also personally shaded an AI-generated version of Ice Spice’s “Munch” that used his voice. Incidentally, Kendrick Lamar also cobbled together a conversation between himself and Tupac on his 2015 album To Pimp A Butterfly, but in that instance, he had the estate’s permission to re-use audio from an interview, which demonstrates the whole point around publicity rights.

Joe Budden Says Kanye West Entering Drake And Kendrick Lamar’s Beef Is “Attention Seeking”

The biggest rap beef of the year continues to take dramatic twists and turns while roping in more and more of the genre’s biggest stars. Tracking each development along the way has been various rap media figures like Joe Budden. After Kendrick Lamar started it by taking shots at J. Cole and Drake last month there’s been a series of responses. Cole clapped back with a track called “7 Minute Drill” on a surprise mixtape called Might Delete Later. The tape lived up to its name as Cole apologized for the diss track just a few days after dropping it and eventually removed the song from streaming services entirely.

Right out of the gate, Kanye West was involving himself in the beef. While fans were discussing the original song “Like That” he took to Instagram to comment on the beef. Rather than taking sides, he elevated himself above everyone in the beef claiming he washed Kendrick Lamar on their collaboration “No More Parties In LA” and washed Drake and the Larry Hoover Benefit Concert they played together. Earlier this week he once again stepped into the beef with his own remix of “Like That.” In the song he took shots at numerous people involved in the beef, most notably Drake and J. Cole. Now after the release of West’s version, Joe Budden shared his thoughts on the song and West inserting himself into the beef.

Every corner of the rap community continues to be captivated by the civil war going on right now. One prominent figure that has been enjoying the war of words has been Joe Budden. The rapper turned podcaster has been reacting and giving his two cents on the situation as of late. His most recent discussion was around “Push Ups” and his favorite bar. But a new clip from the Joe Budden podcast has now surfaced for the “Taylor Made Freestyle.” At the start of the snippet, the New Yorker was clearly hyped to be back in the podcast studio.

Before him and the crew got into the recent diss though, the panel wanted to address some chatter that Drake was trying to “box them out” of the beef talk. Because “Taylor Made” came out on April 19 (a Friday), they were not able to react to it right away. However, Joe Budden made sure to be clear that if the diss was essentially good enough, he would react to it ASAP. But the podcast crew decided to wait until they were scheduled to come back to give their thoughts. They also did not come in early because “Drake listens to [Joe Budden] more than Kendrick does.”
