Shyne Reveals DJ Khaled & Roc Nation Will Produce Film About His Life

He has come a long way from a rapper to a politician, and Shyne is ready to share his story. In 1999, Shyne was enjoying his successes when an incident at a nightclub shifted the direction of his life. He was out with Sean “Diddy” Combs and the Bad Boy mogul’s then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez when a confrontation erupted. Gunshots were fired, and three people were injured.

Shyne was convicted of several charges, including assault and reckless endangerment. He served nine years of a 10-year sentence, and upon his release, he was deported to his home country of Belize. While there, Shyne began community building, and later, he started his political career.

“Very pleased to partner with Walt Disney, ESPN & Andscape to tell the Shyne story,” he wrote. “With @djkhaled and @rocnation executive producing you can expect nothing short of a riveting film that takes you on an unfiltered journey of my life from birth in Belize to the dreams, nightmares, triumphs and tragedies involved in selling millions of albums, winning Grammy Awards, sacrificing my career and freedom to defend myself and friends, incarceration to reincarnation, fury to forgiveness, hurt to healing poverty to patriotism and purpose.”

‘Colbert’ Made Perfect Use Of DJ Khaled Clips To Recap Kevin McCarthy’s Drawn-Out Bid To Become Speaker Of The House

Over the weekend, Kevin McCarthy was elected Speaker Of The House. It took four days and 15 votes to get here, but here we are. Now the late-night shows have gotten a hold of the news and run with it on their Monday (January 9) episodes, including The Late Show. Steven Colbert’s staff’s take on the situation made use of some choice DJ Khaled clips.

The brief segment is introduced, “And now, a summary of Kevin McCarthy’s bid to become Speaker Of The House, featuring DJ Khaled.” From there, a Khaled-style instrumental played under news clips about the McCarthy proceedings, and as the various anchors share news of each subsequent vote, a Khaled clips interjects with one of the producer’s classic catchphrases: “Another one.” The video ends with an anchor noting, “The concessions to the right that led to his victory could leave him the weakest Speaker in modern history.” To that, clip Khaled responded, “Congratulations: you played yourself.”

As for what Khaled has been up to lately, he was recently pretty happy after buying Eminem’s Nike Air Jordan 4 “Encore” sneakers. Meanwhile, looking forward, he’s one of the most-nominated hip-hop artists at the upcoming 2023 Grammy Awards.

DJ Khaled Had A Very Merry Holiday By Getting Eminem’s Rare Air Jordans: ‘Never Give Up’

DJ Khaled celebrated his holiday by treating himself to a long-awaited and rare present: Eminem’s Nike Air Jordan 4 “Encore” sneakers. Khaled was so excited that he posted a video to his Instagram, where he sits holding the electric blue shoes.

“I finally got ’em. Anybody know me I been trying to get these for the longest time,” he says. “Yes, I have a lot of sneakers. I collect sneakers, I collect watches and I love my sneakers but I been trying to get these for so long and I finally got ’em.”

“The word is they only made like 23 pairs of these… I’m sure they made a little more than that but I know I been trying to get ’em and I could never get ’em,” Khaled continued.

Eminem’s “Encore” Jordans were originally released in 2005, according to HipHopDX, with only 50 pairs for his friends and family. Most recently, in 2017, there was a retro version of the shoe offered — with only 23 pairs made available, of which Khaled seemingly bought.

The publication notes that only one pair of the iconic shoe currently is being sold for $47,000 as a minimum.

As for Khaled, he’s been a documented sneakerhead. He even showed off his extensive shoe closet during an episode of Complex Closets in 2015, which has likely only grown since then.

[WATCH] Sizzle Burns DJ Khaled Plaques Due To His Name Not Large Enough On Trophy Plate

Screen Shot 2022 12 09 at 7.34.35 AM

Dancehall pioneer Sizzla took his anger with DJ Khaled out on the commemorative platinum plaques given to all of the contributors to Khaled’s Father Of Asahd album and burned the plaques to ashes.

On Thursday, Sizzla jumped online with several. of his comrades to call out Khaled for his violation, calling the world famous producer a devil and said that the print of Sizzla’s name was entirely too small and disrespectful towards the island of Jamaica.

Some online onlookers said that Sizzla went too far, but a few added that for Sizzla to go public with the issue, it must’ve been something serious, as Sizzla is not an artist that would pull a prank for exposure.

Sizzla actually appears on the very first track of both Khaled’s “Grateful” and “Father Of Asahd” albums and is featured on this year’s blockbuster “GOD DID” as well.

DJ Khaled Is The Latest Shirtless Model For Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty

DJ Khaled is a man of many business ventures. Fresh off the release of his thirteenth studio album, GOD DID, the Miami native is getting his modeling game on. Subsequently, Khaled is the latest celebrity to model new pieces from Savage X Fenty’s newest collection.

The photoshoot was shared by Rihanna’s brand on Instagram on Wednesday (December 7). As you can see, the social media personality is seen rocking two different pajama sets for the campaign. The first of which is a bright yellow satin set.

Additionally, the other is a patterned design that comes complete with a pair of slippers with his name on them.

The shoot is just a part of a bigger campaign that the lingerie brand has planned. The SavageXLive Shopping Xperience is set to give fans the chance to purchase pieces from their new collection. Subsequently, some big names, like Khaled himself, will reportedly perform simultaneously.

DJ Khaled Persists

The modeling gig caps off another busy year for the We The Best frontman. He’s continued to make waves because of his star-studded collaborations, as well as his entertaining social media presence

Additionally, photos of his newest Air Jordan 5’s, the “Crimson Bliss” were revealed in October.

His aforementioned GOD DID album was yet another successful release from the hip-hop mogul. It debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and is the fourth studio album of his to accomplish this feat. Consequently, it was backed by the success of its lead single, the Drake and Lil Baby-featuring “STAYING ALIVE.”

The self-titled track boasts a stacked line-up of features from JAY Z, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, John Legend and Fridayy.

The rare Hov appearance was the highlight of the song. The Brooklyn rapper’s verse spans over four minutes. Furthermore, it finds him dropping bars about everything from the War on Drugs and its political policy failure to flexing his billionaire lifestyle.

The relationship between Khaled and Hov has been documented throughout their careers. Overall, the duo has collaborated on a number of songs, including 2016’s “I Got the Keys.”

“For him to bless my album the way he blessed my album, it’s like, not only does he love me, it feels so great for him to be so in love with the music in this day and time,” Khaled told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe in an interview earlier this year.

Self-Proclaimed ‘Sex Symbol’ DJ Khaled Modeled For Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty ‘Xperience’

DJ Khaled grabbed headlines last month for resting his “We The Best” Crimson Bliss Air Jordan 5s on a silk pillow while courtside at the Miami Heat game. Wednesday (December 7), he upped his game by modeling for Rihanna’s latest Savage X Fenty “Xperience” drop.

In a video posted to Instagram, Khaled changes from a Savage X Fenty silk pajama set into … a different Savage X Fenty satin pajama set, and the latter mustard set featured an open-front robe that showcased the hitmaker’s bare torso and made him feel “real good.” He strolled into his home office in the “robe-slash-cigar-jacket” and nodded toward his “God Did” chorus by quipping, “They didn’t believe in us, RiRi did!” Then, he entered then a room filled with new Savage X Fenty pieces available to purchase live on the brand’s official website, selecting which ones he’ll buy for “my queen” and plans to rock himself.

“I ain’t gonna name other companies ’cause I’m rolling with Fenty,” Khaled boasted toward the end of promotional clip, while holding up a pair of “I’M TAKEN” briefs. “Y’all didn’t see the vision. I’m born beautiful. I’m a sex symbol. They been wanting this for the longest time.”

Sizzla Kalonji Burns Platinum Plaques He Received From DJ Khaled Over Alleged “Insult”

It seems like DJ Khaled’s made an enemy out of his former collaborator, reggae superstar Sizzla Kalonji.

Sizzla and DJ Khaled connected in the past, largely on Khaled’s recent projects such as Grateful, Father Of Asahd, and God Did. He handled the intro on Grateful. Then, he linked up with Mavado, 070 Shake, and Buju Banton on Father Of Asahd. Sizzla also delivered a stunning performance alongside Bouty Killer, Skillibeng, Capleton and Buju Banton on “TSKNM” off of God Did.

It seems that the working relationship between Khaled and Sizzla is no more, despite their successes together. This morning, the reggae star shared a video of himself burning several platinum plaques from his collaborations alongside the Miami-based DJ. The video shows him removing the platinum discs, and the photos of Khaled’s kids from the album art, before setting flames to the plaques. “You insult me, DJ Khaled,” he’s heard saying over the video. “Cut out the baby picture. The baby’s innocent. At this point, Sizzla sets all of the plaques on fire together.

The root of the issue appears to stem from Khaled’s approach to bringing dancehall sounds on his album. However, some also believe that Sizzla felt disrespected by the size of his name on the plaque.

In the video, he claims that Khaled insulted Jamaica and dancehall culture. However, he did say that he wanted the pictures of Asahd and Aalam Khaled, who he called his God kids.

So far, we haven’t heard anything from DJ Khaled on the matter. However, his ties to Jamaica’s dancehall scene have been documented over the years. On his latest albums, Sizzla’s presence specifically helped bring authentic reggae and dancehall sounds to DJ Khaled’s project.

During an interview with Grammy.com in 2021, DJ Khaled explained how Jamaican artists played a huge role in his career.

“All those artists you saw on my album on that song, my friends that cosigned me in the beginning of my career. They use to give me dubplates and they put their hands around my shoulder saying we love this kid and I never forget where I come from,” he said. “Dancehall is a part of my story, you know what I’m saying, Jamaica is a part of Khaled’s story and it’s such a blessing… I love Reggae music and I love Dancehall.”

We’ll keep you posted if Khaled ends up responding to Sizzla.
