Dame Dash Claims JAY-Z’s “Big Pimpin’” Was Actually About Him: “He Was Just Pretending To Be Me”

Dame Dash says that JAY-Z was just “pretending” to be him for the song “Big Pimpin’” and that he’s the actual inspiration. He discussed the track during an interview with the Moguls In The Making podcast as caught by The Shade Room on Tuesday. When one of the hosts noted that they heard Dash was the inspiration for the song, he confirmed: “Everything Jay said, he was pretending to be me.”

In the comments section of the post, fans were tired of hearing Dash speak on JAY-Z. “There should be a rule that if you book Dame Dash for a show that you’re not allowed to ask Jay Z questions. We don’t care anymore,” one user wrote in a popular comment. Another added: “People booking dame to talk about jay z are just as much of a problem of him talking about jay z.”

Dame Dash’s Legal Troubles Continue With New Defamation Lawsuit

Dame Dash has found himself in more legal trouble after Dear Frank director Josh Webber filed a new defamation of character lawsuit against him for comments he made on the Earn Your Leisure podcast back in March. Webber initially filed the lawsuit back in April, but Dash was only just served on Tuesday. During the podcast, Dash claimed Webber “stole” from him by referencing the $1 million judgment he won back in 2022.

“I had a judgment. And I knew this dickhead Chris Brown (pause) and Josh Webber (pause) and Muddy Waters…Chris Brown the lawyer. I went through four trials with the same lawyer…What I lost was defamation because these guys trigger me and steal my sh*t…you think there is freedom of speech, it’s really not…” he said on the podcast, as noted by HipHopDX. With the lawsuit, Webber is arguing the accusation caused him to lose out on a $4 million contract to direct a film starring Billy Bob Thornton and Scott Eastwood.

A judge previously ordered Dash to sell off his shares of Roc-A-Fella Records after he was unable to pay a judgment of over $800K earlier this year. According to HipHopDX, when Dash attempted to auction them off himself, Webber’s lawyer, Christopher Brown warned prospective buyers that the Office of Child Support Services “added a lien to the auction in the amount of $123,562.37 for unpaid child support and Mr. Dash has a judgment against him in the case of Bunn v. Dash, 20-07389 for $30,000.00 pending in California. This too will be added. Buyer Beware when it comes to Damon Dash. My office and the United States Marshal are in control of this process. With that being said, I am negotiating with various entities to sell the judgments that are the focal point of the auction. The parties seeking to purchase the judgments fully intend to complete the auction process.”

Dame Dash Thinks Drake’s Career Is Suffering: “Things Are Different Now”

It’s a good time to be a Kendrick Lamar fan. Conversely, it’s a tough time to be a Drake fan. Lamar beat Drake is what’s being described as the definitive rap battle of the 21st century. Both rappers proved they could hang, but Lamar managed to snag a number one single with “Not Like Us.” His streaming numbers have also seen an uptick in recent weeks, while Drake’s have dipped. Nobody thinks the 6 God’s career is over, but there is a general sense that his reputation has taken a hit. This is something Dame Dash recently explained during a barbershop interview.

Dash, who previously picked Kendrick Lamar to win the battle, had praise for both rappers. He said that their back-and-forth represented the greatest battle in hip-hop history. “As a battle,” the mogul asserted. “This is the best battle of all time. I been through… I been in hip-hop for a while, this has been the most impactful battle.” High praise from the man who stood by Jay-Z during the legendary Nas battle of the early 2000s. The reason Dash holds Drake vs. Lamar in such high regard is because he felt as though their songs actually impacted each other. Drake, in particular.

Dame Dash Claims Drake Vs K. Dot Is The Best Battle Ever

“The battle songs are changing the trajectory of that artist’s life,” Dash noted. “It just seems like, things are different for Drake right now. I’ve never seen this happen before.” The co-founder of Roc-A-Fella was shocked by how brutal and critical Lamar got with regards to Drake’s personal life. “This sh*t was real,” he added. “I mean it turned into war.”

There’s validity to Dash’s statements, but Drake’s star power is still immensely brighter than Lamar’s. K. Dot was able to score his second solo number one with “Not Like Us,” but Drake’s “Family Matters” also came it at number seven. Drake still has 11 more number ones that his opponent. The aforementioned streaming dip is also somewhat misleading. Lamar saw a 49% boost after he won the battle, and Drake saw a 5% fall off. Even with these numbers taken into account, though, Drake lapped Lamar.

The Toronto rapper pulled in 100.7 million streams from May 3-6, while Lamar only managed 50.62 in the same time span. Drake still wins the numbers game at the end of the day. It will be interesting to see how much fan opinion impacts his legacy in the long run, however.

Drake Vs. Kendrick Lamar: Dame Dash Declares Winner Of The “Best Battle Of All Time”

Drake and Kendrick Lamar just participated in one of the most legendary rap battles of all time. Overall, there was a lot of animosity here that culminated in some diabolical tracks. The three most shocking songs were “Family Matters,” “Meet The Grahams,” and “Not Like Us.” Since then, “Not Like Us” has become the number one song, while tracks like “Euphoria” are number three on the top 100. It hasn’t been great for Drake, and at this point, the vast majority of people are declaring Kendrick as the winner.

While on the America Nu Network, Dame Dash spoke at length about the recent feud. In here, he noted that this was the greatest battle of all time. Furthermore, he gave us a definitive winner in the Drake Kendrick Lamar war. “As far as fighting goes, in this moment, Kendrick won,” Dame noted. “It’s almost by far now. Last week, it was neck and neck, but after the last exchange with the pedophile thing and the response and the [impact] of ‘Not Like Us,’ it seems like he’s disrupted Drake’s life.”

Dame Dash Picks Between Drake And Kendrick Lamar

Dame Dash went on to say that he has never seen an artist like Drake be dismantled in this fashion. Having said that, this lends to the notion that this was the greatest beef we’ve ever seen. “This has been the best battle of all time,” Dame said. “I’ve been here in Hip Hop for a while — this has been the most impactful battle to where it looks like the battle songs are changing the trajectory of that artist’s life. It just seems like things are different for Drake right now. I’ve never seen this happen before.”

Let us know whether or not you agree with Dame Dash and his assessment of all of this, in the comments section down below. Do you think that Kendrick Lamar is the definite winner in all of this? Do you believe that Drake could do something to shake things up and take the lead? Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. Memphis Bleek Is Team Kendrick Lamar After Multiple Drake Disses

Memphis Bleek started the legendary battle between Jay-Z and Nas. He took shots at Nas on his 2000 single “My Mind Right,” and the subsequent back-and-forth led to his label boss getting in the mix. It’s a little apocryphal (Jay and Nas already issues), but it proves that Bleek knows what he’s talking about when it comes to diss records. Bleek took time away from promoting his upcoming podcast to discuss the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle. He made it very clear that he was backing the kid from Compton.

Bleek got on X (formerly Twitter) shortly after the release of Lamar’s devious diss “Euphoria.” He not only praised Lamar’s lyricism, but he took people who didn’t appreciate the song to task for not being real rap fans. “I can’t believe it’s people who really think that K. Dot record [trash],” he wrote. “Glad I’m not one of them cause he walked on that joint.”

Memphis Bleek and Kendrick Lamar have never crossed paths, but the former has been sampled on multiple Lamar songs. “LOYALTY,” K. Dot’s 2017 duet with Rihanna, samples the Roc-A-Fella posse cut “Get Your Mind Right Mami.” We have to take it much further back for Lamar’s “The Heart Part 2,” which dropped in 2010 and samples the same exact Bleek collab from 2000.

Bleek isn’t the only Roc-A-Fella member who has backed Lamar in the Drake battle. Dame Dash, Bleek’s former label boss, recently detailed the ways in which “Euphoria” dismantled Drizzy. “As a man, I thought that that was the most logical, grown man, battle rap, sh*t that you could say,” Dash claimed. “A father really enjoys hearing about how fly it is to be a dad. F*ck all that dumb sh*t. If you ain’t a dad it don’t matter.” Kanye West has also chosen Lamar’s side, and even recorded a remix to the diss song that kicked this whole battle off.

Jay-Z is the glaring Roc-A-Fella name who has yet to weigh in on which rapper he prefers. Given that Hov has praised and worked with both Lamar and Drake in the past, though, he’s probably being smart by staying out of it.

Dame Dash Thinks Kendrick Lamar Is Winning The Beef: “He Snuffed Drake”

Dame Dash has seen rap beef up close. He was Jay-Z’s right hand man during the legendary Nas battle, and spearheaded Roc-A-Fella during its commercial peak. His opinions on hip-hop, and beef especially, holds weight. This is what makes his recent comments on the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar battle so much fun to parse through. The duo represent the most substantial rivalry since Jay-Z and Nas, and Dash made it clear that he prefers one rapper over the other. Like most industry vets, he leans team Dot.

Dash was asked about Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria” diss during a barbershop visit, and the mogul had plenty of thoughts. He admitted that he was underwhelmed by the song on first listen, but the more he dug into it, the more he appreciated what Lamar was doing. “He smothered Drake,” Dash stated. “This is a battle of lyrics, and you can be eloquent about conveying a point.” The ex-Roc-A-Fella boss lamented the advent of AI, and the way that it ruined the songwriting process, but he remained complimentive of Kung Fu Kenny.

Dame Dash Praised Dot’s “Lyrical” Strategy On “Euphoria”

The talking point that really swayed Dash on “Euphoria” was fatherhood. He thought it was incredibly smart to target Drake’s parenting skills, or lack thereof, on wax. “As a man, I thought that that was the most logical, grown man, battle rap, sh*t that you could say,” he noted. “A father really enjoys hearing about how fly it is to be a dad, and that’s basically the message I’ve bee conveying. F*ck all that dumb sh*t. If you ain’t a dad it don’t matter.” Dash went as far as to liken “Euphoria” to Nas’ “Ether.” The irony, of course, is that “Ether” was aimed at Dash’s own business partner.

Dame Dash thought Lamar’s diss was tactically superior as well. He claimed that “Euphoria” made him question whether Drake’s previous statements were true. “It was a very strategic lyrical play,” he added, inferring that the Toronto rapper’s insecurities are now going to be under greater scrutiny. Dash didn’t say the battle was over, though, and he’s actually had praise for Drake in the past. He merely thinks K. Dot won the first round. Like the rest of the hip-hop world, he’s curious to see what the 6 God has in store for a response.

Peter Gunz Claims Jay-Z Cost Him $10K After Mocking His New Car

Peter Gunz was riding high in the late 1990s. The rapper scored a major hit with the single “Deja Vu (Uptown Baby),” which peaked at number nine on the Billboard Hot 100. It was during this period that Gunz began to make real money, and compete with the likes of Jay-Z and Dame Dash. Unfortunately, the rapper’s taste was not up to snuff. Peter Gunz recently went on the BagFuel podcast to discuss his fame, and he claimed the Roc-A-Fella honchos mercilessly clowned him for his ride.

Gunz went out and bought a new car as soon as he could. “Back in the days, the Honda Accord Coupe was the sh*t to me,” he recalled. “I paid full cash.” It was during a random visit to Diddy’s restaurant at the time, that Gunz was forced to second guess his purchase. “Jay-Z and Dame Dash come walking out,” he recalled. “N**ga said, ‘Number one rap record in the country, you in a Honda Accord. Brooklyn n**ga said that to me, man.” The rapper went back to the dealership the next day in hopes of getting a truck, but the damage was done. He drove $10,000 off the lot when he bought the Accord, and was therefore unable to recoup his money. Gunz relented and traded the car in for a Lincoln Navigator.

Peter Gunz Swiped A Bottle Of Jay-Z’s Cognac

The story doesn’t end there, however. Gunz’s trip to get get a new stereo system in his car led to him coming across Jay-Z’s Range Rover. Both of the rapper’s cars were being worked on at the same place, so Gunz decided to go through Hov’s stuff and snatch a bottle of Louis XIII cognac. “I boofed that sh*t,” he admitted. “That n**ga got like 70 bottles of that sh*t somewhere. That was karma. N**gas screamed on me, made me go lose $10,000.” There’s no hard feelings between the rappers today, but Gunz and Jay-Z could never quite on the same page.

Peter Gunz tried to get a gang of rappers to appear on the “Deja Vu” remix. He told Live89 FM that he reached out to Mase, Nas and Jay-Z for verses, and they all said yes, with the intention of repping their specific borough. Gunz said the labels for each artist kept it from happening, unfortunately. “I think we deprived the world of a ridiculous remix,” he said. “[Because] it wasn’t for their label.”

[WATCH] Dame Dash Says Biggie And Diddy Copied Him And Jay-Z

Screenshot 2024 04 19 at 11.29.26 AM

On the otherwise politically centered PBD Podcast with Patrick Bet-David, former Roc-A-Fella Records CEO Dame Dash claimed that the late Notorious B.I.G. and Diddy, then known as Puff Daddy, were emulating him and Jigga in the mid 90s, which led to friction between the two factions.

“Big was the only person I used to smoke with. I didn’t smoke before at all; we used to drink. Supposedly, Jay and Big went to school together but Jay didn’t know him,” Dash said.

“Because we were getting the money and popping the bottles and all that, in that moment, we had always felt that Biggie and Puffy were copying us. They’d see us in the club and it seemed like the next day, a record would be made.”

“That lifestyle of [a] hustler, that was us. That was them copying us, for sure. So we kinda had problems. I was run up [on] sometimes. I was confrontational with Biggie and them at first, but we finally got cool.”

Memphis Bleek Announces Star-Studded Podcast Series “Roc Solid”

It’s impossible to tell the story of Roc-A-Fella Records without Memphis Bleek. He was a crucial piece of the label’s puzzle, and he rubbed shoulders with some of the greatest rappers of all time. This pedigree makes him the perfect person to launch a Roc-A-Fella themed podcast, which is why he’s linking up with the Drink Champs network to run Roc Solid. The new series will see Bleek recount the label’s rise and fall alongside notable guests.

Bleek posted a teaser for Roc Solid on Instagram, and the guest list is wild. Young Guru, Young Chris, and Freeway are some of the rappers who have already recorded episodes, and each have notable ties to the eponymous label. Ja Rule and N.O.R.E. also appear in the teaser, despite the fact that neither artist was signed to the Roc. The former collaborated with several Roc artists during his peak, however, and the latter is a staple of NYC hip-hop. N.O.R.E. is also the co-host of the aforementioned Drink Champs.

Memphis Bleek Will Discuss Roc-A-Fella’s Legacy

Hip-hop fans will be equally intrigued by the artists who don’t show up. Memphis Bleek debates whether to invite Roc-A-Fella co-founder Dame Dash during the teaser, given their tense relationship. Bleek also weighs the pros and cons of staging a full on Roc-A-Fella reunion, which would include Dash and Jay-Z. The “Dear Summer” rapper has no problem recounting the issues that led to the label folding, as proven by his recent appearance on Drink Champs. He answered all of N.O.R.E.’s questions about the fallout and then some.

For example, Bleek claimed that Dame Dash almost dropped him from the label in 2003. The rapper said Dash and Jay-Z were at odds about the future, and his aggression rubbed Dash the wrong way. “[Dame] looked at me and said, ‘You always going against everything I say’,” Bleek recalled. “If you don’t wanna be with Roc-A-Fella, I’ll give you your walking papers’.” It’s safe to assume these are the kinds of juicy stories the rapper will be sharing on Roc Solid. A release date for the podcast hasn’t been announced.

Dame Dash’s Lawyers Deliver Resignation Over Unpaid Fees

Dame Dash’s lawyers, Felton T. Newell and Justin H. Sanders, Esqs., of Sanders Roberts LLP, have officially resigned from representing him in the lawsuit from photographer Monique Bunn. In doing so, they cited a “breach of contractual obligations to the firm,” regarding unpaid legal fees. They originally filed the motion to withdraw, last month. At the time, they alleged Dash, “failed to fulfill their financial obligations under their retainer agreement, resulting in the firm initiating an enforcement action against them.”

Attorney Christopher Brown filed the lawsuit on behalf of Bunn back in February, while arguing that the jury in a previous case regarding the unpaid use of her photographs didn’t understand the damages Dash’s actions had on the photographer. “The evidence at trial – which was uncontroverted – established that each photo was worth $1,500, which should have resulted in a verdict for at least $384,750,000,” Brown wrote. “It is well known that professional photographers earn much of their income through licensing their portfolio of photographs, and Defendants’ actions destroyed Ms. Bunn’s economic prospects. The jury ignored the valuation evidence and awarded zero to Ms. Bunn.”

He continued: “It is impossible to conceive how a jury could conclude that a professional photographer’s portfolio of thousands of photos, as well as photography equipment, could be worth zero. Especially when the Plaintiff and the Defendants both testify that the damages are in the millions. A new trial is warranted under these circumstances.” Check out the resignation from Dash’s attorneys below.

Christopher Brown is the same lawyer involved in the lawsuit regarding the film Dear Frank. That case resulted in Dash being ordered to sell his Roc-A-Fella Records shares to cover a $900,000 judgment awarded to Josh Webber. Be on the lookout for further updates on Dame Dash on HotNewHipHop.
