Troy Ave Tells Fans He Is Going To Serve Prison Sentence Over Deadly 2016 Shooting

Back in June of 2023, rapper and podcaster Taxstone got into a heated situation with fellow Brooklyn MC Troy Ave. It all went down in 2016 in New York City at the Irving Plaza. Both were at the T.I. concert at the time and a fight broke out leading to a fatality and several injuries. Troy’s bodyguard Ronald McPhatter was the one who unfortunately lost his life. Taxstone blamed the incident on Troy Ave in his defense, imploring that he egged everything on, leading to him pulling the gun out in self-defense. However, the court did not buy it, and they handed him a 35-year prison sentence.

Troy only had to do one year in jail for everything, though. But, according to HipHopDX, he is seemingly heading back to the court room to turn himself in. The veteran rapper announced this on his Instagram by way of short video. “About to run up in the court, you might not see me for a while but just know the streets is a myth. Somebody shot at me. Instead of laying down and dying, I’d have been a hero, a martyr. I take the gun and bust back.”

Boosie Badazz Denies Plies Beef, Recalls 2006 Concert Shooting

Boosie Badazz is no stranger to getting into it with other artists, but according to him, Plies was never one of them. The Louisiana-born rapper recently sat down for an interview with VladTV, reflecting on the 2006 shootout that took place at his concert with Plies. Plies performed before Boosie, and his performance went on longer than expected. Eventually, his mic was cut, leading to an argument between his crew and the promoter. “All hell broke loose,” he recalled. Tragically, five people were shot.

“Everybody thought that sh*t happened with me and Plies, but it didn’t,” he explained. “They held that sh*t that Boosie and Plies were beefing all the way until I went to prison. They put Boosie and Plies against each other. I had nothing to do with it.”

Boosie Badazz “Had Nothing To Do With” Plies Beef Rumors

“I was telling the promoter it was time for me to go on,” he described. “When people in they home state, they gotta do their thing. I guess they turned off his music.” Boosie continued, sharing his own experiences of having his microphone turned off by promoters. He claims that he’s also gotten upset when it’s happened to him in the past. According to him, however, he simply continues with his show and lets the audience sing along acapella. “As long as I get my backend,” he says.

Ultimately, Plies and various members of his crew were arrested for the shootout. The rapper was let off on probation, but his brother was sentenced to three years, and released in 2009. Plies was later hit with a $10 million lawsuit related to the incident, though the outcome of the suit remains unclear. What do you think of Boosie Badazz denying having any beef with Plies? Finesse2Tymes Concert Shooting Leaves 3 Injured

Finesse2tymes had plans to start 2023 in a big way, though they obviously didn’t go as planned. On the evening of Sunday (January 1), he was performing in Knoxville, Tennessee, when a shooting took place in the audience.

As WREG reports, three attendees obtained injuries as a result of the gunfire. Thankfully, though, authorities have confirmed that they’re non-life-threatening and were able to receive treatment at UT Medical Center.

Prior to the concert, Finesse got his followers excited on Instagram with a promotional post. “KNOXVILLE TN!! WE FINNA TURN IT UP UH NOTCH!! IT’S GOIN DOWN TONIGHT!!” he wrote in the caption.

While the crowd was certainly turnt up, it’s believed that an altercation broke out as the rapper was on stage. Shortly after, shots were fired. Attendee Kierra Daughtry tells the outlet, “As soon as the shots happened, everybody dropped their drinks… Within a split second, there was [almost] nobody in that building.”

She later added, “For a second, it really did like we were about to get shot, like, we were very close.”

Authorities responded to the call from My Canna Buds around 2:20 AM on Monday (January 2) morning. A spokesperson for the local police department says that at this time, numerous individuals are believed to have fired shots.

Multiple weapons were also recovered at the scene. Additionally, several witnesses and possible suspects were detained as the investigation progresses.

No other details have been made available at this time, though police are asking anyone with information to contact the East Tennessee Valley Crime Stoppers.

Judge Orders Sony To Pay $160 Million For Role In 2017 Cousin Stizz Concert Shooting

It’s been five years since the deadly shooting that occurred at a show in which Cousin Stizz was on the bill.

A new development regarding the incident shows that Sony is actually partly responsible for the tragedy.

As the 2017 performance at the Atlanta venue, The Masquerade was ongoing, a shooter opened fire on the crowd. The Boston native was one of the performers getting ready to take the stage later in the night. The shooter is responsible for hitting four innocent members of the audience. Two of them, Giovan Diaz and Ewell Ynoa, passed away from their injuries sustained that night.

The police were later successful in identifying the suspect as 25-year-old Jonathan Bautista. He was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of murder.

On December 15, a DeKalb County judge ordered Sony Music Holdings to pay $160 million in damages for the incident. The judge labels the company’s failure to protect concertgoers as the reason. Additionally, the victims’ families allege the venue didn’t have proper security present. The awarded money will go to the families of the victims.

Furthermore, the Beasley Allen Law Firm is responsible for filing the lawsuit in 2018. They named Sony and RCA Records, as well as Live Nation and Masquerade as defendants in the case.

To make matters worse, reports indicate that Sony never even showed up for the trial.

“One of these men had been told he would be a father just a few hours before the shooting happened. Combine that with the fact the concert endangered everyone, and this Defendant refused to participate in the legal process, and you get the type of verdict we saw here,” Atlanta lawyer Parker Miller says in a statement, explaining the outcome.

Earlier this year, Cousin Stizz dropped off his latest project, Just For You. Boasting a feature from Curren$y, the 13-track album finds the 30-year-old reflecting on years of abiding by label restrictions.

What are your thoughts on the ruling? Comment down below. As always, make sure to stay tuned to HNHH for the latest industry and pop culture updates.
