Normani Teases “Candy Paint”, Her New Song & First Single In A Year

Normani is the kind of artist that lets her craft speak for itself- and cares deeply about having it represent her. Moreover, she recently appeared in a commercial for Bose’s QuietComfort Earbuds II and QuietComfort 45 Headphones and took the chance to preview a new song in the process. “Candy Paint,” which is a bustling, highly percussive, and confidence-oozing cut is her first single in a year. Furthermore, some of the last songs we covered from her were “New To You” with Tinashe, Calvin Harris, and Offset, “WE (Warm Embrace)” with Chris Brown, and her solo cut “Fair.”

In the ad itself, the 27-year-old talent spoke on how people confuse her intentions with her art. In fact, she unfortunately faced a lot of it in anticipation of her solo debut, which is coming soon according to the ad’s description. “Normani is ready for a career-defining return to the scene with her highly anticipated debut album finally on the cusp! We talked about her creative process and what it takes to make the cut for her first album” it read.

Normani’s Bose Commercial With The Upcoming “Candy Paint”

“People sometimes confuse my commitment to the craft with perfectionism,” Normani says in the commercial. “I don’t strive for perfection, I strive to be the most authentic version of myself… I strive to create work that moves my spirit.” At one point when making “Fair,” she realized that said spirit must also undergo some vulnerability. “Sharing this record makes me uncomfortable because you have never really seen me in this light,” she expressed on Instagram. “Definitely aware that you might feel like you don’t know much about me but that’s only because it’s what makes me feel protected. i am really forcing myself to let go here. this is huge for me and hopefully this piece of art resonates. love is beautiful yet so soooo terrifying [black heart emoji] i adore you guys to the moon and back. ohhhh and believe me the uptempo s**t is coming lmaooo.”

Meanwhile, a recent Billboard interview shed some more light on “Candy Paint.” “I really wanted to create a record that allowed me to show my personality,” the Atlanta native said. “I feel like there’s a misconception. It probably has everything to do with my social media. I think that people think I’m so serious, which is the complete opposite [of me]. Anybody that really knows me knows that I’m really funny. I’m a goofball! I love to twerk. I’m just regular. I really wanted to create a record that encompassed that and allowed my personality to shine. It’s a performance record first, which I know my fans have been waiting for, for a very long time. It’s fun, energetic, bossy, it’s bold. It’s sassy but assertive, and yeah, I’m really excited to shoot the music video.” For more on Normani, check back in with HNHH.

PETA Shares “Last Of Us”-Inspired Ad Blaming Meat For The Apocalypse

PETA has released a new commercial that will air ahead of The Last of Us, this weekend, to warn against the dangers of eating meat. In doing so, the ad pokes fun at the new hit series for HBO. The commercial, titled “The Don’t List,” features a girl who appears to take inspiration from Bella Ramsey’s character, Ellie, on The Last of Us.

Throughout the commercial, the young girl walks through a destroyed city while listing off typical rules that parents give their children. Notably, she mentioned never being told not to consume “meat or dairy,” before implying that’s the cause of the apocalyptic scenario.

“The Last Of Us” L.A. Premiere

“You said it was your job to protect me. You were always telling me what not to do. ‘Don’t run with a lollipop in your mouth, don’t touch the light socket, don’t go near the stove, don’t chase a ball into the street, don’t talk with strangers online. Don’t do this and don’t do that because you could get hurt.’ But you never said, ‘Don’t eat meat or dairy.’ Now look what you’ve done,” the girl says in the ad.

“The horrors portrayed in The Last of Us are imaginary, but as Greta Thunberg has made clear, kids will face a truly dire future if we continue pumping greenhouse gases from meat and dairy production into the atmosphere,” said PETA executive vice president Tracy Reiman in a statement. “No parent wants to doom their children to an inhospitable planet, which is why PETA is urging them to feed them vegan before it’s too late.”

Sunday’s episode of The Last of Us will be the show’s season one finale. The series has been a hit for HBO since premiering earlier this year. The first five episodes averaged almost 30 million viewers for the network. In January 2023, HBO renewed it for a second season, which will be based on The Last of Us Part II video game.

Diddy Stars In Uber Commercial For Super Bowl LVII

Diddy stars as a music executive in a new commercial for Uber that is set to air during Super Bowl LVII, later this month. In the piece, Uber propositions Diddy with coming up with a song for the company, to which he declines. The advertisement comes ahead of the release of his next album, Off the Grid Vol. 1.

“So, we’re thinking a song could really put Uber One on the map,” a company executive tells Diddy. A henchman for the mogul then responds, “Diddy don’t do jingles.” When the executive changes his wordage from “jingle” to “hit,” Diddy becomes more interested. “Meet me at the studio,” Diddy says.

Fans can expect many more hits from Diddy as he prepares for the release of Off the Grid Vol. 1. It will be his first full-length album since 2006’s Press Play and his first under his imprint, Love Records. “Music has always been my first love, Love Records is the next chapter is about getting back to the love and making the best music of my life,” Diddy said in a statement when he launched the label. “For the label, I’m focused on creating timeless R&B music with the next generation of artists and producers. Motown is the perfect partner for my album and I’m excited to add to its legacy.”

Diddy isn’t the only hip-hop artist with a Super Bowl ad. Cardi B, Offset, Jack Harlow, and more will also be making appearances during game breaks. Cardi B and Offset will be acting in a commercial for McDonald’s, while Harlow will be promoting Doritos alongside Missy Elliott.

Check out the forthcoming Super Bowl LVII commercial below. The game will kick off on February 12. The Kansas City Chiefs will be taking on the Philidelphia Eagles while Rihanna will be performing during the halftime show. Black Eyed Peas’ “My Humps” Leads To Lawsuit Over Toy Commercial Parody “My Poops”

The music company BMG is suing MGA Entertainment over a commercial for Poopsie Slime Surprise toys. The ad features a song titled, “My Poops,” which is a parody of the Black Eyed Peas‘ song, “My Humps.” BMG owns the song’s copyright.

According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, BMG claims that MGA Entertainment exhibited “willful copyright infringement” and “exploited, without authorization” with the commercial, which released in 2020.

In the original track, the lyrics are as follows: “Whatcha gon’ do with all that junk? / All that junk inside your trunk? / I’ma get, get, get, get you drunk / Get you love drunk off my humps.”

In the parody, on the other hand, they go: “Whatcha gon’ do with all that poop? / All that poop, woo, woo / I’ma poop, poop, poop, poop, oh yeah.”

BMG is seeking $10 million in damages as well as the destruction of “all copies” of “My Poops.” They claim the commercial “devalued future licenses” for the Black Eyed Peas’ hit song.

“The Infringing Video was distributed on YouTube and elsewhere,” the docs read. “Defendant also incorporated the Infringing Work into its physical Dancing Unicorn Toys.”

The toys play the song when someone presses a heart-shaped belly button on the front of the toy.

The Black Eyed Peas released “My Humps” back in 2005, before the track peaked at No. 3 on the US Billboard Hot 100.

Jack Harlow’s Love Life Is The Center Of Doritos’ Super Bowl Ad

Jack Harlow will star in the newest commercial for Doritos that is set to air during Super Bowl LVII on February 12. The company shared a teaser for the ad, titled The Love Triangle, earlier this week.

In the short video, Harlow hops into a limo as paparazzi accost him with questions about his love life.

“Is it true about the love triangle?” a reporter asks Harlow in the clip.

He responds, “Maybe.”

As for Harlow’s actually love life, he was recently linked to Dua Lipa after the two met in person at Variety’s Hitmakers event in Los Angeles, last month. The rapper first interacted with Lipa when getting her consent to include a song about her on his latest album, Come Home The Kids Miss You.

Harlow spoke about getting her blessing for the track during an interview with Sirius XM.

“I hit her up and wanted to get her blessing,” Harlow said, before adding, “I played it over FaceTime. I wanted to be respectful and her not be blindsided by it. She was so confused, she was like, ‘What the hell?’ It was clearly a first but she gave me her blessing.

He added: “She said it was totally fine with her. She was very sweet.”

Super Bowl LVII is scheduled for February 12 and will be held at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

Harlow isn’t the only rapper set to appear in a Super Bowl commercial this year. Cardi B and Offset are also reportedly starring in a McDonald’s ad.

Cardi B & Offset To Star In McDonald’s Super Bowl Commercial

Cardi B and her husband, Offset, will be starring in a Super Bowl commercial for McDonald’s. According to TMZ, the two filmed the advertisement with a small crew around Christmas.

The commercial is reportedly Valentine’s Day themed and doesn’t feature their children.

Working with McDonald’s will be Cardi’s second time appearing in a Super Bowl commercial. She also starred in a Pepsi ad a few years back.

While she will have now appeared in two Super Bowl commercials, Cardi has yet to perform during the event. Back in 2019, she told The Associated Press that the NFL offered to have her take the stage in Atlanta, but she declined. She explained at the time that she felt obligated to “stand behind” Kaepernick.

“My husband, he loves football. His kids play football. It’s really hard for him. … He really wants to go to the Super Bowl, but he can’t go to the Super Bowl, because he’s got to stand for something,” Cardi told the outlet.

“You have to sacrifice that,” she added. “I got to sacrifice a lot of money to perform. But there’s a man who sacrificed his job for us, so we got to stand behind him.”

As for this year’s Super Bowl, Rihanna will be headlining the halftime show performance. In support of the event, Rihanna released Super Bowl-themed Savage X Fenty merch, earlier this week. The collection features layered sweatpants, cropped jerseys, as well as a beanie.

Check out Cardi B’s previous advertisement with Pepsi below and be on the lookout for her McDonald’s commercial on February 12.
