Druski’s “Shoulda Woulda Coulda” comedy tour is packed with special guests including celebrity appearances. Last week, Druski held back-to-back shows in Miami and Orlando, Florida. Rapper, Kodack Black made a guest appearance on both of these dates. Kodack Black’s special appearance came as a surprise to fans. Kodack Black is a highly acclaimed rapper born in Pompano Beach, Florida. He took the stage to his song “Skrilla.” Additionally, he performed his popular single “No Flockin’” which was released in 2015. Kodak expressed his gratitude for Druski’s invitation on stage. “I appreciate you man, I ain’t been doing nothing in a minute,” he said.
In January, Druski’s “Shoulda Woulda Coulda” tour began with additional dates totaling 31 shows. This is his first time heading his own tour. He is now at the halfway make of his successful tour. “Shoulda Woulda Coulda” originated as an Instagram series called “Coulda Been Records.” Additionally, the skit series entails Druski being a talent scout on Instagram Live. He would give views on the change to join his life to critic their talents in comedian skit form. He has not left out celebrity appearances from his Instagram skit. In December, breakout rap star, Ice Spice joined his Instagram Live where he seemingly flirted with her. The series has become a series of social media memes including Tik Tok Sounds.
Kodak Black Takes The Stage At Druski’s Comedy Show
Furthermore, Druski’s tour has yet to miss headlines for its infamous moments. Fans have had the opportunity to audition to be a part of the show. Sticking to its origins, Druski Invites fans on stage to perform as he criticizes them in front of his audience. Additionally, the series is also scripted and is a web show on youtube. The most unexpected moments of the tour have surfaced on social media. This past March, he virally took a tumble from a few steps leading to the stage level. This moment has caused a series. Subsequently, his fall began a spree of fans and recording artists such as 50 Cent trolling him for his accidental injury.
Moreover, he has also made his acting debut. In April, he was a featured character in the film Praise This. Additionally, this film also includes Quavo, Mack Wilds, Koryn Hawthrone, as well as singer Chloe Bailey who Druski is supportive in her solo music career. The series has been praised for its talented and diverse cast, recurring characters, foreboding post-apocalyptic framing devices, and abundance of jokes. It highlights the comedic chops of Black women and provides an inspiring example of a program that places them in the forefront without making their skin color an issue. In addition to being revolutionary, it also innovates traditional sketch comedy by taking it to odd and unexpected places. Don’t expect conventional skits here; A Black Lady Sketch Show features fantasies with genies, otherworldly purgatories, and even episodes featuring amnesia. All in all, if you have an appetite for the strange and wacky, this show is for you.
1. No Makeup
When Thede’s character arrived late for work every day due to her lengthy makeup routine, her colleagues proposed she forgo her daily beauty rituals or risk losing her job. This all-too-familiar scenario has been experienced by many women when one time without a full face of cosmetics leads to questions like, “Are you sick?” and “You look tired.” Taking the concept to an exaggerated level, Thede’s response to ditching makeup resulted in her near-deathly appearance, serving as a reminder that sometimes foregoing concealer is not worth the risk.
2. Bad B*tch Support Group
It is difficult to stay a bad b*tch all the time, but fortunately, the “Bad B*tch Support Group” is here to help. They discuss problems like looking prim and proper for their man and dressing in head-to-toe highlighter, lashes, and three-inch heels. Maya opened up about how sometimes she desires to just ‘be ok’ rather than fabulous. This comment shocked the other ladies, yet Angela Bassett reassured everyone that it was alright not to be perfect now and then, but still not be basic.
Suddenly, a twist started when sinister music began, and they noticed two representatives from a fast fashion retail company spying on them through a two-way mirror. It was a trial to test some drug that would make women feel that impossible beauty standards were achievable. After all, if Fashion Nova couldn’t sell its clothes to bad b*tches, who else?
3. Chris & Lachel: Exit Row
Chris and Lachel, coming fresh off their wedding in Season 1, reappear in Episode 5 on a mission to make their honeymoon. Yvonne Orji stars as a flight attendant asking for an affirmative answer from the couple seated in the exit row, following Chris’ struggle to verbalize in the preceding sketch. But Chris and Lachel give her quite a runaround, replying with “bet” and “yerp” instead of a simple “yes.”
Lachel takes a different approach, attempting to barter for snacks and a blanket. Chris builds upon this by suggesting a pretzel blanket. The dilemma is solved when Broderick Hunter catches Lachel’s eye, prompting them to switch seats. It’s not a smooth start to newlywed life, yet they’ll manage it on their trip.
4. Courtroom Kiki
In the Season 1 finale of A Black Lady Sketch Show, “Courtroom Kiki,” a memorable skit made its mark. With guests Issa Rae and Yvette Nicole Brown, it became one of the most discussed aspects of the show. It featured a room of all African-American women, including Rae playing the defendant and Brown acting as judge. After two decades on the bench, Brown noted a sight she had never witnessed. Though the case resulted in favor of Rae, it was celebrated with jubilation by the whole court. A unified chant of “Black lady courtroom, clap clap!” was heard in joyous unison.
5. Get The Belt
Reniece had an unenviable task – to remain obedient and dodge her mother’s belt. With her brother failing, she was determined not to suffer a similar fate. She assiduously completed her mother’s simple tasks, setting herself up for success. However, when her mom nodded off, Reniece ensured she would be the victor by indulging in her own show. Fortunately, disaster was averted upon her brother’s entry, who left the door wide open. Yet, despite appearing guilty, Reniece, fortunately, escaped punishment. Thede, one of the announcers, saved her from harm.
6. Purgatory Soul Food
Dennis and Brunson went to a local Black eatery, “Eat All-nite,” to get some lunch on Saturday. However, this place had issues: limited biscuits, not enough staff, missing dishes, plus a pay-to-pee policy. Undaunted by the obstacles, they remained determined to show their support. Then the problems kept mounting: bring-your-own utensils, a $65 spending minimum, and someone trying to steal leftovers. Despite all that, their meals were delicious, and the waitress was friendly. Yet they kept returning to the restaurant’s entrance no matter which way they tried to leave. The oxtails, however, were superb.
7. Product Purge
A Black Lady Sketch Show astounded viewers with the Emmy-winning “Save My Edges, I’m a Donor!” This hotly anticipated sketch featured the unique idea of a communal purge held to return unsatisfactory products. The 12-minute period allowed people to return anything with no restrictions or paperwork. Led by a large cast, the scene had boisterous enthusiasm and dynamic action.
Director Bridget Stokes expressed her admiration for this sketch in an interview with Essence: “I was particularly impressed with everyone’s performance. Everyone worked together in great unity to make sure that each stunt and move were executed perfectly.” The skit ended on a familiar note, allowing participants to use their refunds for more purchases.
8. Reunited & It Feels So Weird
Old friends reunited in Fiji, joyfully greeting one another before all being shocked by a stranger’s unexpected arrival. Messica makes her presence known, chloroforming Brunson as she claims to be part of their group. Amazement follows as an identical set of women also step forward, prompting bewilderment. The original gang no longer doubts Messica won’t tag along on their holiday.
9. Funeral Ball
At a memorial service for the beloved, the departed are remembered jubilantly with a twist. Black tradition calls it not a funeral but a “homegoing service” or “celebration of life.” Dancers from the voguing scene in A Black Lady Sketch Show were cast alongside those from the ballroom. They celebrate the commonalities between Black and queer communities, uniting them all in laughter and joy. Moments like these remind us that inclusion is as essential to comedy as the jokes themselves.
10. Rude Poisoning
At the family reunion, tensions ran high. Tyler James Williams and Kim Wayans appeared in this sketch to show the conflict between loving reunions and generational differences. When arguments began to bubble up, Williams resorted to playing Bell Biv DeVoe’s “Poison” to lighten the mood. It worked; everyone was drawn into the beat and unable to keep from dancing. Even as Williams and Dennis argued, the music paused hostilities.
Dave Burd, a.k.a. Lil Dicky, crafted one of the most successful hip-hop-adjacent shows of the moment with his series “Dave.” Now on tour with rapper GaTa, the show’s latest episode involves some hilarious cameos from Rick Ross and Killer Mike that have people quite impressed with their comedy skills. Moreover, the plot revolves around Dave and GaTa trying to get Rozay’s stolen chair back and handle potential Twitter beef with one half of Run The Jewels. Not only that, but Usher and Lil Gotit also make comical appearances throughout the episode. All in all, fans seem to agree that the comedic timing and chemistry in this episode was more than entertaining.
Of course, someone of Rick Ross’ charisma and personality makes for a glove-like fit on a show like “Dave.” One of his more recent and strange antics involved his buffalo that escaped from his ranch in Fayetteville, Georgia. While many expressed concern and even criticism, the Miami rapper dispelled all that with a series of funny, thankful, and reassuring clips. When you live that large, you’ve got to learn to not take yourself as seriously, and it’s clear that he has a lot of fun with it.
“Dave” Includes Hilarious Cameos In Atlanta Episode
Furthermore, Killer Mike is one of the faces of Atlanta, whether in music or larger society and politics. As such, it’s only fitting that a figure of his caliber appears in an episode centered around the city. What’s more is that Mike will make a return to music quite soon, although it was nice to see him expand his resumé on “Dave.” Fans are particularly excited because he teased features from Dave Chappelle, Lil Wayne, and the one and only André 3000.
Despite his incredible TV success, Dave (or Lil Dicky, in this case) said that he wants to return to the mic soon. He elaborated that he feels misrepresented by his earlier work, with leaned towards comedy with less warm reception than his television outing. Regardless, considering his career trajectory and growth, it should make for quite the interesting return. On a recent episode of The Steam Room, Barkley discussed a rather bizarre thing he does while on the road. Sir Charles claims he brings his own bars of soap with him on trips. He claims that soap at hotels is too small for him to use. However, the reason behind his thought may be a little too rated R for public consumption.
“I travel with a big bar of soap… These hotels started being cheap. Those bars ain’t big enough. Because I almost had a couple of accidents with the soap at hotels.” Co-host Ernie Johnson could barely keep it together when Barkley delved into the details of hotel soap. “So I was with Chris Rock, and he was like, ‘People aren’t good [at stand-up] until they’re your age,’” Glover recalled. The short film is slated for release from Glover’s Gilga production company. Obama is said to be creating the film under her mentor’s guidance.
“The first thing we did was talk about the fact that she will only get to do this once. You’re Obama’s daughter,” said Glover. “So, if you make a bad film, it will follow you around.” Although the pressure seems astounding, the 24-year-old is ready for the challenge. The second teaser trailer for Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie has been released. It should lay to rest any doubts that viewers may have had about the movie. The 2-minute-long teaser is campy, chaotic, and fun in all the right ways. The film was officially announced several years ago. Margot Robbie stars in the film and was attached before Barbie had even found its director. In Barbie, the titular character will go on a journey of self-discovery, leaving her home for the real world. The trailer tells us little about why she must leave. The extremely short film synopsis simply alleges it is because she is “less than perfect.”
The production of Barbie took quite some time to get the ball rolling. The idea was first presented by Universal Studios all the way back in 2009. However, production did not begin until Sony acquired the rights to the film in 2014. Rumors swirled about the actresses in negotiations for the lead role. Both Amy Schumer and Anne Hathaway supposedly eyed the part. When Sony failed to put Barbie into production, Warner Bros. acquired the rights to it. Shortly after, Margot Robbie was announced as both the lead actor and producer. Additionally, WB announced Greta Gerwig had stepped into the role of director. Noah Baumbach acts as screenwriter for the film, who many may know as the writer of the divorce drama, Marriage Story, starring Scarlett Johansson and Adam Driver. Over the months that followed, the film added an almost staggering number of top actors and actresses.
Come On, Barbie, Let’s Go Party
In the newest trailer for Barbie, we are introduced to the neon-tinged world of the famous Mattel doll. It opens on a beach with pastel pink sand as a chorus of different Barbies say hello to one another. We see two Kens vie for the attention of Robbie’s character before she takes off in her car. She waves at passers by, hilariously taking her hands off of the wheel of her car completely. Eventually, Barbie and Ken are seen leaving their home for the real world. The end of the trailer shows off Noah Baumbach’s comedic writing chops as two Kens argue on the beach, vowing to “beach each other off.”
Humorous and lights, Barbie looks like it is going to be the perfect summer movie. It boasts an all-star cast, with Margot Robbie, Ryan Gosling, Issa Rae, and Will Ferrell taking on lead roles, among many others. Lawrence plays the role of Marcus Burnett skillfully as a relatable character. His ability to balance humor with dramatic tension is a highlight of the movie.
#5 Wild Hogs (2007)
Four middle-aged suburban men, played by Tim Allen, John Travolta, William H. Macy, and Lawrence, decide to go on a motorcycle road trip to escape their mundane lives in the movie Wild Hogs. Of course, they meet a real biker gang which leads to a series of comedic misadventures.
Lawrence plays Bobby Davis, a dentist trying to rediscover his sense of adventure and masculinity by joining the motorcycle gang. Lawrence’s portrayal of Bobby showcases his impeccable comedic timing and his ability to play the straight man in a cast of larger-than-life characters.
Life, released in 1999, tells the story of two men, Ray Gibson, played by Eddie Murphy, and Claude Banks, portrayed by Lawrence, who were wrongfully convicted of murder. Consequently, their sentence is life in prison.
Lawrence’s role of Claude Banks, an introverted man often bullied by other inmates, permits him to show off his comedic timing and his ability to strike an extraordinary balance with more serious themes such as survival and justice.
His performance as Claude is sympathetic and funny, and his chemistry with Eddie Murphy is a film highlight. Despite the serious subject matter, Life finds humor and heart in even the darkest situations.
#3 Nothing to Lose (1997)
Nothing to Lose tells the story of Nick Beam, portrayed by Tim Robbins, who is having a terrible day. Out of desperation, he decides to rob a convenience store, but a man named T. Paul, played by Lawrence, carjacks him.
Lawrence’s performance as a fast-talking and street-smart criminal is depicted fabulously by his high energy and quick wit. Lawrence’s magnified physical comedy and snappy one-liners are hysterical, especially as he plays up T. Paul’s over-the-top antics in this film.
#2 House Party (1990)
The 1990 film House Party stars Kid played by Christopher Reid, who throws a wild house party while his parents are away. However, things quickly spiral out of control when rival gangs and an angry neighbor get involved.
In House Party, Martin Lawrence plays Bilal, Kid’s best friend, constantly getting into trouble and trying to pick up girls. Lawrence’s performance brings laughter to even the most mundane situations with quick wit.
Lawrence’s unmatched comedic timing and delivery dazzle this movie and are particularly spot-on.
