Kid Cudi Seemingly Has Beef With Donald Glover, But Glover Just Isn’t Interested

Back in February, an X (formerly Twitter) user tweeted, “@KiDCuDi You and Gambino gotta work on something whether it’s TV, movies, or music we’d love to see/hear it! Your guys’ song Warlords needs an official release!” Kid Cudi shared the tweet and replied, “Im cool.”

This seemingly indicated Cudi has some sort of issue with Donald Glover/Childish Gambino, although based on publicly available information, it’s not clear why. Whatever the case, Glover has addressed it.

As HotNewHipHop notes, during a recent Instagram Live broadcast, a fan asked Glover for his thoughts on Cudi. Glover said, “Kid Cudi, if you got a problem, like, I’m not here for the beef. Just, like, talk to me. […] ‘Cause it’s like, we don’t have to agree on everything, but we also don’t have to be like, ‘Yeah, when I see you, we have to want to kill each other.’ I don’t… man, life is too short.”

Back in the day, early in Glover’s music career, he opened for Cudi and didn’t have an awesome time. He reminisced about that last year, saying, “At the time, I had a full band and a violinist. I just kept turning to the band and telling them, ‘Next song! Next song!’ I put on a really intense show through the boos.”

Childish Gambino Receives Second Lawsuit As Kidd Wes Continues To Fight Over “This Is America”

Nearly three years ago, Childish Gambino was sent a copyright infringement lawsuit from fellow rapper Kidd Wes. The latter felt that “This Is America” was “unmistakably substantially similar, if not practically identical” according to those past legal documents. However, almost two years later, on March 24, 2023, Judge Victor Marrero of a New York federal court dismissed the lawsuit. It was ultimately decided that there were not enough similarities between the Gambino’s version and Kidd Wes’ “Made In America,” which was released a year prior in comparison. Now, according to AllHipHop, Wes is still searching for justice, as he recently filed a second lawsuit against Gambino.

Pulling information from Courthouse News, they discovered that this was put in motion on Monday, April 15. To get more technical about this, Judge Marrero originally shut this down because Kidd Wes failed to copyright the underlying musical composition of “Made In America.” Because of that, Kidd Wes would have lost with proper copyright registration all together. Of course, there was massive pushback from his attorney Gregory William Keenan.

Does Kidd Wes Have An Argument Against Childish Gambino?

He saw this is as an “administrative mistake.” Keenan stated, “An applicant for a copyright registration, especially one who’s not a lawyer, might check the wrong box on the registration documents as a result of some legal oversight.” Jonathan Davis, Gambino’s lawyer argued that this [was] not a mere error.” Wes and his team are currently awaiting the results of their second attempt, so be sure to check back with us when we find out more.

What are your thoughts on Childish Gambino being sued again? Do you think this lawsuit will have a different result, why or why not? Listening to the songs back-to-back, do you spot any glaring similarities? Is this song still in your rotation? Childish Gambino Shuts Down Kid Cudi Feud: “Life’s Too Short”

Rap beef isn’t for everybody. It seems like every big game in the game is currently beefing, but Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover has no interest in participating. The rapper recently got on Instagram Live to promote his upcoming albums, and he made it clear that he doesn’t have any ill will towards Kid Cudi, despite rumors that the two of them are beefing. As far as Gambino is concerned, “life’s too short” to focus on dissing others.

Gambino was fielding questions toward the end of his IG Live, when a fan asked about the Cudi situation. The rapper took a beat before stating that he would prefer to sit down with Kid Cudi in person and hash things out then resort to making vague threats on wax. “Kid Cudi, if you got a problem, like, I’m not here for the beef,” Gambino asserted. “Just like, talk to me. … ‘Cause it’s like we don’t have to agree on everything but we also don’t have to be like, ‘When I see you, we have to wanna kill each other’.”

Childish Gambino Prefers To Talk To Cudi

The alleged tension between Gambino and Cudi started in February 2024. A fan reached out to Cudi on Twitter and said they would love to see him and Gambino collaborate. “You and Gambino gotta work on something,” the fan wrote. “Whether it’s TV, movies, or music we’d love to see/hear it.” Evidently, Cudi was not interested. “I’m cool,” he responded. Gambino did not address the frigid exchange at the time, but his measured feelings on the matter via Instagram Live suggest there won’t be any mention of it in the future.

Childish Gambino tensions have been in the air for a lot of rappers recently. Tyler, The Creator talked about the “Redbone” rapper during his recent Coachella set, and admitted that he used to despise him. He told the crowd that was not a fan until he heard Gambino’s 2013 song “Urn,” but has loved his music ever since. “It was so undeniable, I was at conflict with myself,” Tyler admitted. “And now, the tables have turned and this n***a barely returns my calls.” The two artists are now on good terms, however, so there’s hope that a similar peace can be reached between Gambino and Cudi.

Childish Gambino Maps Out Plan To Drop Two Final Albums, Teases Tons Of Music

Childish Gambino will soon be done releasing new music under this moniker fairly soon. According to HipHopDX, the Georgia jack of all trades recently spilled the beans about his future projects, while previewing a fair share of unreleased tracks from them. The rapper hosted what he called the GILGA Radio Livestream via Instagram live last night. He announced it on X and a fan asked him if there was going to be new music previewed. Gambino had the perfect response, saying, “Of course. It’s a rollout dummy.”

About one month ago to the day, he announced a new album called Atavista. At the time of that reveal, there was speculation that it was going to be updated version of 3.15.20. Those suspicions were right on the money because Gambino confirmed that to be the case during GILGA. The other major piece of information we gathered is that after Atavista drops (we still don’t know when yet), Childish Gambino will put out one more album under his stage name. It will be titled Bando Stone & the New World, which doubles a soundtrack for an eponymous movie that he is a part of.

Childish Gambino Has Fans Stoked For His Next Albums

Finally, the other exciting part about this livestream were all of the tracks teased. According to the Reddit thread above, fans were claiming that Gambino played songs such as “Human Sacrifice” and a revamp of “35.31,” called “Little Foot, Big Foot” which features Young Nudy. Speaking of which, the hitmaker revealed that a music video for the latter will be dropping in the next few weeks. It has certainly been a long time coming for his fans, and Gambino recognized that. “My fans are great and have been so patient and are starving — this album is for you guys.”

What are your thoughts on Childish Gambino announcing two more new albums under this moniker? Out of all of the snippets he played at GILGA Radio, which one was your favorite and why? How do you feel about Atavista being a mixed and mastered version of his last album 3.15.20? After he releases these albums, do you think he will retire? Or will he drop music under his government name? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. Donald Glover shared some exciting news yesterday. More specifically, he started by sharing exciting news about exciting news: He announced a GILGA Radio Instagram livestream, on which he promised to share some new music. Now that the broadcast has come and gone, we know some more about what the end of Childish Gambino will look like.

During the show, Glover revealed that there are two more Gambino projects on the way, saying, “We’re releasing Atavista, but after that, there’s the final Childish Gambino album — a soundtrack for the fans.” Elsewhere in the broadcast was a teaser for the “original soundtrack” to Bando Stone & The New World, which will serve as that final Gambino album.

Glover teased Atavista a month ago, and it is set to be a re-worked version of his 2020 album 3/15/20. As was indicated, the Bando Stone project is set to accompany a new movie. Elsewhere during the project, Glover also noted that he’s working on an anime project alongside Zach Fox.

Last year, Glover told E! News, “I’m making music right now, I love it. I’m actually working, I’m in the studio. I’ve been bringing people in, like secret people, working on little things. But I just been, you know, making it for fun right now. But soon something will happen, I promise. Something will happen.”

It has been about four years since Donald Glover last released music as Childish Gambino, but he’s making his return in typically splashy fashion. After joining Tyler The Creator onstage during his headlining set at Coachella and performing “Time” from his last album 3.15.20, Glover returned to Twitter (never X) to announce his GILGA Radio livestream on Instagram. When a fan replied to inquire about new music, Glover cheekily responded, “Of course. It’s a rollout, dummy.”

Glover first teased his return to music earlier this year. In March, he shared a screenshot of what appeared to be a tracklist for a new album called Atavista on Instagram — the first indication of new music since he reversed course on his decision to retire the Childish Gambino persona in 2020. In a 2023 interview with Complex, he joked that Tyler The Creator had encouraged him to be less “cryptic” about his endeavors. ” I just like suspense, I guess,” he explained. “I think it makes stuff better. But that’s just me.”

In 2023, Glover told E! News, “I’m making music right now, I love it. I’m actually working, I’m in the studio. I’ve been bringing people in, like secret people, working on little things. But I just been, you know, making it for fun right now. But soon something will happen, I promise. Something will happen.” It looks like that something is happening very soon.

Tyler The Creator Fulfilled His Decade-Long Dream Of Headlining Coachella With ASAP Rocky, Childish Gambino, And More

Tyler The Creator pulled out all the stops for his high-flying headlining set at Coachella 2024, opening with an explosive stage entrance and bringing out a slew of surprise guests, including ASAP Rocky, Charlie Wilson, Childish Gambino (aka Donald Glover), and Kali Uchis. During the set, he reminisced about his first playing Coachella back in 2011 with Odd Future and how chaotic that set was in comparison. In his own words: “I didn’t even know what Coachella was.”

On Saturday night, he fulfilled a decade-long dream of headlining (which included an undercard performance in 2018 that presaged his eventual top billing), incorporating a park ranger motif with a set designed to look like a desert mesa. Over the course of the show, he brought flames, fireworks, and a UFO that hovered over him and Rocky as they performed “Who Dat Boy” from Flower Boy and the standalone “Potato Salad.” Meanwhile, Glover popped out to perform a smooth rendition of his 3.15.20 track “Time.” Kali Uchis naturally showed up to sing hre chorus from their collaboration “See You Again,” while Wilson sat at a piano with Tyler to sing his part from “Earfquake.”

Tyler’s set certainly lived up to the hype. Then, near the end, he was blown off one of the buttes surrounding him and yanked off stage in another masterfully crafted stunt. And just like that, in the words of his Call Me When You Get Lost collaborator DJ Drama, he was gone.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith star Donald Glover has crafted a rather impressive resume of onscreen work (which he doesn’t mind bragging about). But what most people tend to forget is he’s also a musician. So it looks as if Glover plans to gently remind the public of his musical talents quite soon.

Yesterday (March 15), on his Instagram page, he decided on his film, television, and production work. He shared an update on his next body of work. The screenshot seemed to tease that Glover’s rapper persona, Childish Gambino, has a new album titled Atavista on the way.

The supposed project’s name wasn’t the only thing revealed in the photo. Based on the graphic, the run time for the forthcoming album and the entire tracklist was displayed for followers to comb over.

Kid Cudi Might Have Beef With Donald Glover, As His Response To A Fan’s Question Seems To Indicate

Throughout his years as a rap favorite, Kid Cudi has worked with a whole host of collaborators. Recently, one fan suggested Cudi add Donald Glover/Childish Gambino to that roster. Based on Cudi’s response, though, it appears he might not be too keen on Glover.

On X (formerly Twitter) yesterday (February 21), a fan wrote, “@KiDCuDi You and Gambino gotta work on something whether it’s TV, movies, or music we’d love to see/hear it! Your guys’ song Warlords needs an official release!” Cudi shared the tweet and replied simply, “Im cool.”

If Cudi has some sort of issue with Glover, it’s not clear why. As the fan alluded to, Cudi and Glover have an unreleased song together called “Warlords,” which leaked online last year. Cudi answered some other fan questions after the Glover one, but has not yet clarified his stance on his fellow rapper/actor.

Beyond that, early in his music career, Glover actually used to open for Cudi. Last year, he remembered a particularly bad night opening, saying, “At the time, I had a full band and a violinist. I just kept turning to the band and telling them, ‘Next song! Next song!’ I put on a really intense show through the boos.”
