Bryson Tiller Announces His New Single Is Coming Next Week

Bryson Tiller is a man of few words and generally stays out of the way. Thus, when he speaks, it causes a huge commotion among fans who are always craving new sounds from him. The Trapsoul artist appears to be gearing up for the next era of his career as Thursday (September 1) he announced that his new single will be coming next week on September 8.

In a brief Instagram reel with a sunny background, the Louisville artist greeted the fans before announcing the first single for his forthcoming album. As for the album itself, he claims that “we’ll talk about that later” which leaves things up in the air as to whether it will come out in 2022, but he did say he has been waiting for a long time for it to come out.

Regardless, it is an exciting time for his fans as he hasn’t released a traditional project since 2020’s Anniversary, though he did exude the holiday spirit in 2021 with A Different Christmas featuring Justin Bieber, Kiana Lede, and more. As for 2022, Tiller has only handed out sparse features such as joining Diddy on the June record “Gotta Move On” and Joel Curry and David Guetta on “What Would You Do?” Otherwise, the 29-year-old can be found on Twitch streaming himself playing Apex Legends or traveling the world with his family.

DJ Khaled Reveals He Climbed Bryson Tiller’s Gate To Get His Vocals On ‘Wild Thoughts’

DJ Khaled stopped by Drink Champs this past week to talk about how some of his biggest hits came to be. When discussing “Wild Thoughts,” his 2017 collaboration with Rihanna and Bryson Tiller, he revealed the track as we know it almost didn’t make it in time for the album.

Although Rihanna handed in her two verses and hooks in well before the deadline, Khaled remembers having to chase Tiller down to get his contributions

“I’m calling Bryson, my album comes out in like in two weeks,” he said. “‘Yo bro, I need you need to cut the vocals over. You know that Rihanna’s vocals is in, you hear that, right? Everybody’s excited.’ He’s not picking up his phone. … I need this done. I got f*ckin’ Rihanna vocals. One of my biggest records in my career. He not picking up the phone.”

Desperate to get his portion of the track, Khaled went to Tiller’s home to get the vocals in person

“He has a gate. I’m flashing my lights, honking my horns, sending texts. Nobody’s replying,” he said. “You think I’m playing with this sh*t? One thing about me, anybody know me I don’t play no games. … Eventually….Bryson comes out, they open the gate—I was already climbing the gate.”

The Drink Champs roundtable laughed, prompting Khaled to say, “You think I’m playing? Ask them. Call them. … Get their version, it might be more intense.”

Diddy Loses His Cool At The Club In The ‘Gotta Move On’ Video With Bryson Tiller

Last month, Diddy made his return as an artist with a groovy heartbreak anthem, “Gotta Move On” featuring Bryson Tiller. The single is presumably from an upcoming Diddy album, which will be released on his recently-launched R&B-focused Love Records imprint, which will mark his first solo album since Press Play in 2006 — although he did follow up with a mixtape in 2015 titled Money Making Mitch. Today, Diddy and Tiller released the video for “Gotta Move On,” which features a cameo from comedian Tiffany Haddish and a very Diddy scene of the music mogul losing his cool in a nightclub restroom.

The Teyana Taylor (aka Spike Tey)-directed video opens as so many clips from the genre’s early 2000s heyday did: with a pointless celebrity cameo outside a nightclub the artists are planning to enter. Haddish plays either a bouncer or a promoter who greets Diddy and Bryson’s party as they enter, then is never seen again once they do. Once inside, one woman, in particular, draws Diddy’s attention and from their interactions, she’s meant to be an old flame. His attempts to rekindle their attachment spark an argument instead, sending Diddy to the bathroom to cool off. There, he does the opposite, demolishing the room the way he did his office in 2017 before composing himself and returning to the dance.

Diddy Releases New Single “Gotta Move On” Feat. Bryson Tiller

unnamed 3 6

Diddy, the 2022 recipient of the BET Lifetime Achievement Award, has released his new single, “Gotta Move On,” featuring Bryson Tiller. “Gotta Move On” is the first single off his highly anticipated new album, which will be released under his LOVE RECORDS label in collaboration with Motown Records. The new album is set to release later this year.

On “Gotta Move On,” Bryson Tiller delivers the hook as Diddy brings love via impressive verses and a catchy beat.

The single was first performed by Diddy at the 2022 Billboard Music Awards, where he gave a show-stopping performance. The live performance video, which includes a surprise rendition of “First Class” by Jack Harlow and the classic “Mo Money, Mo Problems” with Christian King Combs and Teyana Taylor, has already racked up over 2 million YouTube views organically.

You can hear the new single below.

Diddy And Bryson Tiller Accept That They ‘Gotta Move On’ On Their Emotive New Record

Diddy’s ear for R&B goes without saying, so it makes sense he found his way onto Bryson Tiller’s popular Soundcloud loosie “She Don’t Want My Love” but added a verse to its new iteration, “Gotta Move On.” The track, performed officially at the recent Billboard Music Awards, carries a somber tone despite being upbeat in sonics.

The Trapsoul artist takes lead on the track, blending rap and melodies as per usual before Diddy offers a calm, cool, and collected set of bars. Despite acknowledging the objects of their eyes have found new men, the two sound composed. Perhaps due to experience or due to a nonchalant approach to heartbreak.

For Bryson Tiller, “Gotta Move On” follows his May collaboration “What Would You Do?” alongside Joel Corry and Tiana Major9. Otherwise, the Louisville lyricist hasn’t had a proper individual release since 2021’s A Different Christmas featuring Kiana Lede, Justin Bieber, and more. Diddy is set to have an album coming soon, which would be his first since 2015’s MMM but he has had a hand in music the entire time, namely executive production on Burna Boy’s 2020 album Twice As Tall.

HER Is Being Sued Over A Supposed Sample By Gospel Group Take 6 On Her Hit ‘Could’ve Been’

Nominated for Best Contemporary R&B Song at the 62nd Grammy Awards, HER’s “Could’ve Been” featuring Bryson Tiller has been a considerable hit for the singer. But a lawsuit filed Tuesday by acapella gospel group Take 6, alleges that HER’s song uses an “obvious” sample of the sextet’s song, “Come Unto Me.”

HER (neé Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson), producer Dernest “D’Mile” Emile II, and Sony Music Entertainment are among the defendants named in a document obtained by Billboard. The lawsuit claims that, “‘Could’ve Been’ is a song comprised of substantially similar compositional, rhythmic and lyrical elements to ‘Come Unto Me,’” adding that, “Defendants have profited greatly from the commercial success of the infringing composition and infringing sound recording.”

Listening to “Could’ve Been” (above) there is what sounds like a gospel sample auto-tuned into the production backbone. But it’s not immediately discernible as Take 6’s “Come Unto Me” (below).

Take 6’s attorney, James Walker, disagrees, telling Billboard that it is in fact “obvious.” Walker also stated that he consulted with a musicologist to confirm his and the group’s suspicion. “Come Unto Me” netted Take 6 a Best Contemporary Soul Gospel award at the 33rd Grammys, so it’s fairly notable. Still, before the case can advance to court, a judge will have to determine if the sample sounds close enough to the Grammy-winning single to warrant it. You can listen to both above.
