Sexyy Red Breaks Her Silence Following Fatal Shooting Near Music Video Set

It’s been a prolific summer for Sexyy Red. The rapper dominated social media and the charts with singles like “Pound Town” (and its sequel featuring Nicki Minaj) and the anthemic “Skeeyee.” However, on the heels of releasing “Hellcats SRTs 2” ft. Lil Durk, a deadly shooting took place near the set for her video shoot. Per Local 10, an assailant opened fire near Sexyy Red’s video shoot for her upcoming single, “Shake Ya Dread,” leaving one person dead.

On Thursday, Sept. 14th, Sexyy Red was filming a music video at Oakland Park Flea Market in Florida. But according to reports, an individual pulled out a firearm nearby and began shooting, striking two people with bullets. Authorities pronounced one of the victims dead at the scene of the crime. They said they rushed the second victim to the hospital, although their condition remains unknown. Broward Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Gerdy St. Louis said police are investigating to determine where the shooting was related to the video shoot.

BLP Kosher Waves The Broward County Flag Proudly On Debut Album “Bars Mitzvah”

Following the success of his single, “Special K,” BLP Kosher made a strong debut with the release of his new project, Bars Mitzvah. The 19-song project sees the Florida native’s outlandish wordplay and impeccable ear for production take center stage with minimal assistance. Bars Mitzvah boasts few appearances across its tracklist; Luh Tyler and Trapland Pat assist on “Quite Frankly,” while the latter makes a second appearance on “J’z & Z’s.” Meanwhile, the legendary DJ Premier extends his co-sign to BLP Kosher on “Endless.”

The self-proclaimed Dreidel Man’s personality shines across the body of work. He highlights his Jewish faith through hilarious punchlines and pulls from his Broward County roots through regional lingo (i.e. “In Coral Springs, masked up, I’m lookin’ like I rob banks/ And I’m forever smokin’ Nazis, I’ma pass the blunt to Anne Frank” from “Special K”), as well as his penchant for utilizing a jaw-clenching flow to get his point across. However, the production draws influence from across the board – Miami, Atlanta, New York, and Detroit, specifically. However, even with the melting pot of sounds at his disposal, none of Bars Mitzvah sounds forced. As a result, BLP Kosher crafts a debut album that is unique to his upbringing in Florida while lending his flow and nasally delivery to the array of production across the album.

Who Is BLP Kosher?

The number of stars who’ve catapulted to fame through meme culture is astonishing. However, it truly takes talent to manage to eclipse the momentary fame of virality for a fruitful career. BLP Kosher has undoubtedly propelled to the limelight through his jarring image – a Jewish kid with two single wicks sticking out the sides of his head and a pair of gold fronts that gleam every time he smiles. However, his sheer skillset has helped develop a strong fanbase. The recent string of singles he’s released, like “Mazel Tron” ft. BabyTron and “Jew On The Canoe” have set the tone for his successful year thus far.

With a bit of encouragement from his friend Jew Shiesty, BLP Kosher began rapping during the pandemic. From there, he began gaining a bit more notoriety online, largely due to the number of memes that spawned surrounding his image. However, it’s his skillset that set him apart from his peers. The rapper cites local legends like Kodak Black and XXXTENTACION as influences, along with superstar veterans like Lil Wayne and Eminem. With the release of Bars Mitzvah, BLP Kosher’s shaping into one of the most exciting new voices in hip-hop right now with a hell of a trajectory ahead of him.

Kodak Black Receives Another Arrest Warrant

Kodak Black has unfortunately found himself in a lot of legal trouble this past year stemming from a July 2022 arrest. Said incarceration came on charges of oxycodone trafficking, controlled substance possession without prescription, and an expired driver’s license and tags. While he posted bond at $75,000, the release came under pretrial conditions of drug testing, which he previously allegedly violated back in February of this year in addition to failing a drug test. Now, the rapper received another arrest warrant and affidavit for not showing up to a pretrial meeting and for once again breaking the terms of the pretrial and release agreement.

Moreover, this news comes from Local 10 News in Broward County, who gained access of the court documents in question. According to the report, authorities signed the affidavit on June 13, detailing Kodak Black’s failure to comply with drug testing on June 9. Subsequently, they signed the arrest warrant the next day (June 14). In addition, the warrant seems to indicate that there will be no bond, though that is something that he could try to appeal. He will appear in court on Monday (June 26), as the case timeline indicates.

Kodak Black Wanted In Broward County

Furthermore, his defense team is actually not just dealing with the Kodak Black case, but commenting on other legal troubles in rap. For example, Yak’s attorney Bradford Cohen stated via Instagram that he believes it will be hard for prosecutors to convict YNW Melly in his double murder case. “Day 2 is coming up on the YNW Melly case,” he wrote. “The first few days of trial are not that interesting in regards to a story or the real meat of the case… This case is going to be very technical with phones and date etc. But again, they can’t say someone else didn’t get in the car or someone else did the shooting. I think the case has built in reasonable doubt, and I saw a lot of the discovery while I was on the case. Like I said, this will be a tough case for the prosecution.”

All this being said, the 26-year-old continues to make efforts to uplift his community despite his woes. Recently, he attended a teen leadership conference in Florida, treating fans to a performance. While his struggles in court are worrisome, his charitable efforts will likely leave a much more lasting legacy. For more news and the latest updates on Kodak Black, check back in with HNHH.

Broward County Police Department Reportedly Refused To Investigate XXXTentacion’s Supposed Beef With Drake

The murder trial of the late rapper XXXTentacion (real name Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy) has been an emotional roller coaster for his surviving family and friends. Back in December, the potential witness list was released, and several notable musicians, including Drake, Quavo, and Offset, were present. However, as testimony has begun, shocking details have begun to be shared with the public.

Before XXXTentacion’s tragic murder in 2018, the Florida native wasn’t in the best space, with Drake speaking about it in several interviews and social media live streams.

According to information gathered by Billboard, Mauricio Padilla, a defense attorney representing one of the alleged parties involved with the murder, has used this public feud as a potential ulterior motive. This concern was raised to Prosecutor Pascale Achille and the Broward County office, but according to Padilla, the prosecutor’s office refused to investigate the claim any further.

“For Broward County, for everyone involved, this was a nightmare. That’s why they wanted no part with investigating a celebrity,” said Padilla.

However, prosecutors for Broward County have rejected these claims stating there has been no evidence linking Drake to the shooting. Padilla’s client Dedrick Williams is seen in the store’s surveillance video, recognizable through his distinctive facial tattoos, and was also identified by one of the clerks.

The trial will continue over the next few weeks before a jury is asked to deliberate on what has been presented.

YNW Melly Says He is “In Fear For My Life” in Jail

YNW Melly Makes Accusations of Unfair Treatment in Jail

Rapper YNW Melly appears to be experiencing some serious struggles in jail as he await his murder trial, going so far as to say that he is being threatened by jail staff and that he fears for his life.

On Monday, the artist took to Instagram, sharing two separate uploads of mugshots, describing allegations of what may be considered cruel and unusual punishment and a violation of his civil rights at Broward County Jail in For Lauderdale, Florida.

The first caption reads as follows:

“As of this moment today I am officially in fear of my life. A new Captain named Hubert and XO Jenkins have taken over the jail for two weeks now and have handed out even harsher punishments for me then the previous ones in place. Since December 1 I have been moved and housed on a unit that holds 24 inmates at once. I am the only inmate being housed on the vacant unit, with no phone privilege, no television and no access to a newspaper. They are watching my every move on camera making sure I don’t use the phone to tell the world how I am being mistreated, discriminated, threatened physically, harassed. When I come out of my cell for the 1 hour a day, all other inmates in the adjoining dorms must go back in there cell. I am being subjected to cruel and unusual treatment at the hands of deputies and high-ranking staff of the Broward Sheriffs Office. I have been threatened by Deputies, Lieutenants and Sergeants that say “they will hide me from the world” and threaten to “beat my ass everyday and if I tell my lawyers they will lie and say I hit them first.” Words from Sergeant Anthony Kidd and Lieutenant Jean Baptiste. I have literally been hidden from the World so I have no other choice but to believe the next step is them beating ½ to death like they do to other inmates almost daily here at the main jail in Broward County.”

Melly also tagged several local and national news channels at the end of the post.

In a second post, he shared another mugshot and wrote:

I cant call my family or lawyers to notify them if I have been beaten or harassed. They say my phone privileges are taken permanently because all of the infractions over the last seven months. THAT IS A LIE! They took my phone privileges indefinitely off of my 1″ violation for using another inmates pin to talk on the phone when I am not allowed to use the phone.
If I had been treated like every other inmate at this facility my phone pin would have been restored and phone privileges given back after 30 days per the handbook. I have however went without phone privileges since MAY 8, 2022 and have not been given back my phone pin since the first year I was here. I have served all my disciplinary time so why are my phone privileges still taken. Why am I the ONLY inmate on a unit by themselves BLOCKED from any human interaction? There are inmates here, that have been convicted, of orchestrating robberies over the jail phone and another who planned an escape from jail that was carried out over the jail phone, they are still allowed to use the phone after committing serious crimes and security threats to the facility. But my phone privileges are taken indefinitely for violating a harmless phone policy that carries a punishment of 30 days max!!! I am housed and surrounded in the care of power struck deputies and captains of high authority that even have told me to my face that “they don’t like me” and “I pissed them off”. I am not safe in the hands of these people especially if the highest in command in the jail “doesn’t like me”. I am in fear of my life. My family is in fear of my life. I can not do another day here. Someone please help me get moved to another county jail until my trial. PLEASE!”

The artist, whose real name is Jamell Demons, was arrested in 2019 in conjunction with a double homicide of two of his friends and has been charged with premeditated murder. His trial was set to begin in March of 2022, but has been delayed. There is no clear expected start date.
