Coi Leray was on hand at the 2023 BET Awards and performer “Players” as a part of the Busta Rhymes tribute as it samples his “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Could See.”
During the performance, Coi paid homage to all of the women rappers, from Nicki Minaj to Gangsta Boo, Yo-Yo to Latto, Def Loaf to Cardi B, and everybody in between in her two-piece. It was one of the latest calls for women’s rap unity.
Hip-Hop is in a drought, and that’s crazy considering we are in the middle of the monumental 50th-year celebration. With no specific end in sight, Coi Leray is looking to unify all the women in Rap for a chart-topping single. Tagging her message “#justanidea,” it certainly isn’t a bad one.
“Ain’t been a #1 rap song at all this year,” Leray wrote. “Calling all the female rappers to front. [Hear] me out. ladies night. Hip hop. Unity.”
She added, “Let’s make history with a number 1 … together .. with love.”

Also, Coi Leray is prepping her new album. Titled Coi, the album is catching eyes for a posthumous James Brown feature.
The single is titled “Man’s World,” likely a flip of Brown’s classic “It’s a Man’s Man’s Man’s World,” and sits at No. 2 on the album. Additional features are David Guetta, Saucy Santana, Giggs, Lola Brooke, and Skillibeng.
Coi Leray announced the new album will be released on June 23. The album aims to masterfully weave in her flow, vocals, and sounds, ranging from rap to reggae and pop to dance.
Coi Leray’s latest single, “Bops,” was made available via Uptown Records and Republic Records.
In the aptly named song, Coi proudly demonstrates her accomplishment as a top-charting musician who can consistently turn out big hits. In addition to her most recent collaborations with David Guetta on “Baby Don’t Hurt Me” and Raye’s “Flip A Switch” earlier this month, “Bops” follows an outstanding list of songs.
Coi Leray has plenty to be proud of. In addition to having a new album, Coi, on the way, she’s been dominating pop culture, from features on songs like RAYE’S “Flip A Switch” to TV spots with the WNBA. She’s also had a string of viral hits like “No More Parties” and “Players,” with her latest single, “Bops,” looking like another addition to that growing list.
In the new video for “Bops” released today, Coi puts those accomplishments — and some of her other assets — on display, twerking in front of her RIAA plaques and Billboard Awards in a thong (in what appears to be her bathroom) while hosting what appears to be a fun little night in with friends. Those friends also dance throughout the video while standing on her couch (moms everywhere are furious), sharing a birthday cake, and shooting at each other with Nerf guns. The simple concept perfectly suits the similarly stripped-down production on the song, which relies heavily on cowbells and a straightforward synth lead.
In addition to “Bops” and “My Body,” Coi‘s other single, the album will include “Make My Day” with a contribution from David Guetta, “Spend It” featuring Saucy Santana, and “Man’s World,” which credits James Brown as a feature. The album drops on Uptown/Republic on 6/23.
As promised in the latter half of May, Coi Leray has returned today (June 6) with a long-awaited music video for her “Bops” single – one which includes no shortage of twerking from the 26-year-old. She’s been spending plenty of time shaking her booty as of late. We’ve seen her showing off on Instagram while promoting her quickly approaching sophomore album, COI. Elsewhere, she’s turning up the heat on stage, keeping her energy high while entertaining thousands of fans. Above all else, Leray continues to prove that she’s fully confident in her career as a superstar.
Apart from flaunting her body for the camera, we also see the Boston-born artist flexing some of her material achievements. Among them are Billboard Awards and RIAA plaques, which she happily made it clap in front of while wearing a tiny black thong. Later in the “Bops” video, Leray links up with friends at a party. The group eats plenty of cake and dances along to her hot single.
Upon releasing the @uniqueexvisions-directed effort this afternoon, Leray turned to Instagram to not only share a teaser clip, but also thank the countless people involved in the production, filming, and her glam. The “Players” songstress herself has been labelled as the creative director of the project, proving that she’s highly involved in the details of her work outside of just writing rhymes and dancing along to them.
It remains unclear at this time if the rising star plans to drop another single before COI lands on June 23. We’ve already heard her teasing “Make My Day,” and despite the mixed reception, Leray seems optimistic about the future success of her sophomore release. Coi Leray season is only just beginning, but already, the 25-year-old has impressed us with her plans for the future. Earlier this week, she confirmed that her follow-up to last year’s Trendsetter album is officially on the way, following the arrival of singles like “Players,” “My Body,” and “Bops” earlier this year. The project is titled COI, and while we don’t know who she’ll be collaborating with this time around, we did see her channel Lil’ Kim in what appears to be the cover photo for the upcoming release.
Upon confirming that the album will arrive on June 23, Leray also previewed another title from the tracklist, “Make My Day.” On this, she samples a throwback classic, “Pump Up The Jam,” which has earned her some backlash online. Regardless of what the critics have to say, the Boston baddie seems more confident than ever in the body of work she’s about to put out. On Friday (May 19), Coi took some time to answer fan questions on Twitter, many of which were about accompanying visuals for her latest singles.
“I love this! So excited! Now where is the [music video] for ‘Bops,’ Miss Leray?” one user asked in response to the “TWINNEM” hitmaker’s album announcement. Rather than just verbally promising that it’s on the way, Coi provided a photo of her on set, proving that there’s sure to be plenty of twerking (as she’s become known for) as she bends over in a pair of booty shorts for the camera to capture.
Apart from preparing to drop her sophomore project in little more than a month, the fashionista also took to the stage at Montreal’s Metro Metro festival on Friday afternoon, at which time the crowd was happily jumping along to some of her biggest hits. Coi Leray just returned with a new single “Bops” that continues her momentum this year. After she’s dropped multiple singles and features, including her verse on RAYE’s “Flip A Switch.” remix, she just released the single “Bops.” What’s more is that there’s yet another Coi single coming this week, with “Body” arriving very soon later in the weekend. All in all, it’s an incredibly prolific and exciting season for the Boston-born MC, and one that is only further solidifying her career. On “Bops,” she rides a relatively old-school instrumental that sounds closer to 2000s hip-hop than contemporary trap. With a hypnotic percussive pattern with high-pitched bells and confident flows, she would fit right in on a Neptunes record if she had a time machine.
Furthermore, the short but sharp synths on the track also give it a more vintage club feel. However, the production still sounds crisp and vivid, which breathes more life into these classic sounds. While there’s not too much instrumental progression or variation, Coi Leray takes care of moving the single forward by herself. Multiple cadences and melodies here could make for a standout hook, and her penchant for melody here is intoxicating. As such, even when she’s repeating a lyric or melodic phrase, it still goes a long way to energize the cut. Given previous singles like “Players,” this should come as no surprise.
Coi Leray Is Still Dropping “Bops”
Lyrically, the 25-year-old focuses on, unsurprisingly, her success, talent, and supposed beef with other artist. Of course, she recently cleared up a brief spat with Latto after the latter mentioned her on a single of her own, “Put It On Da Floor.” Even though they seem to have cleared things up, these tracks and Coi’s social media presence indicate that she’s got a chip on her shoulder. Fortunately for her fans, it seems to result in hungry and confident bangers. While we wait for “Body,” let us know what you thought of “Bops” in the comments below. if you haven’t heard it yet, check your preferred streaming service and peep some notable bars below. As always, come back to HNHH for the latest news and updates on Coi Leray.
Quotable Lyrics They tryna throw rocks (Uh), they think that it’s hopscotch, (Ah) I pull up, the show stops (Uh), they eyein’ like cyclops, (What else?) And these b***hes mad, they blame it on TikTok, (Vroom) And these b***hes mad I got all of these big bops, hold on (Haha)
Coi Leray has had an impressive year musically so far already, but that doesn’t mean the 25-year-old has plans of slowing down anytime soon. She kicked things off in January with her “Players” single, which has since received a slew of impressive remixes, as well as plenty of attention on TikTok. Since then she’s collaborated with the likes of Sabrina Carpenter, David Guetta, Anne-Marie, and most recently, with RAYE on her “Flip A Switch. (Remix)” earlier this month.
All of those arrivals have accordingly got their flowers, but for her next arrival, Leray plans to tackle the tracks on her own. She’s been sharing teasers of her work on social media over the past few weeks, and they’re only increasing in frequency as her recently unveiled drop dates near closer. She’ll be dropping “Bops,” a braggadocious single about her noteworthy success in the industry on Thursday (April 27). The next day, in honour of New Music Friday, the Boston baddie plans to deliver “My Body,” a clap back at those who have commented on her petite figure in the past.
Coi Leray’s Got “Bops”
On Tuesday (April 25), the Trendsetter continued her streak of sharing sultry content to promote her work, though this video also lets her goofy side shine too. “Sillyyyyy rabbits tricksss are for kidssssss ,” Leray wrote in the caption. “‘BOPS’ DROPPING this THURSDAY!!!!!!” she reminded viewers, who saw her flaunting her body in a one-piece set and a cheetah print waist trainer while lip-syncing along to her song.
Apart from enchanting us with her glamorous makeup, long black hair, and flexible physique, she also made us laugh with her ridiculous dance moves. After getting caught up in internet drama with Latto this past weekend, it seems as though CL is pouring energy into her own music again, and eagerly gearing up for her new releases that very well may lead to a sophomore effort from her down the road. Scroll on to see more “Bops” teasers from Coi Leray’s Instagram, and let us know which of her two upcoming singles you’re most excited about in the comments.
