Rich The Kid Takes Plea Deal In Miami Bomb Threat Case

Rich The Kid has accepted a plea deal in the case regarding a bomb threat in Miami from last year. At the time, authorities arrested him for refusing to follow police orders and going beyond a perimeter they had set up around a hotel for the investigation. He’s now pleaded no contest to resisting arrest and trespassing, which will allow him to avoid jail time. He will, however, have to pay a $1,000 fine.

His legal team said, as caught by HipHopDX: “We believed that if we proceeded to go to trial we would have been successful. The offers leading up to the trial included a period of supervision. That being said, our client is pleased with the outcome of time served and a fine to resolve the matter and looks forward to continued success.”

Rich reportedly was so intent on entering the hotel because he wanted to speak with a promoter who owed him money. The debt apparently stemmed from an appearance at Hyde Beach nightclub alongside NLE Choppa and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie.

Rich appeared unfazed on social media after the initial arrest. At the time, he shared several clips from Scarface. In one scene, Tony Montana remarks: “You want to waste my time? Okay. I call my lawyer. He’s the best lawyer in Miami. He’s such a good lawyer that by tomorrow morning, you’re gonna be working in Alaska… so dress warm.” Following the incident, Rich teamed up with Kanye West, Ty Dolla Sign, and Playboi Carti to appear on Vultures for the track, “Carnival.” The song peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making for Rich’s first time reaching the spot. Rich The Kid Arrested During Bomb Threat In Miami: Report

Rich The Kid recently stayed at the SLS Hotel in South Beach, Miami, where he faced a bizarre and rebellious arrest. Moreover, when he arrived at the building on Sunday night during Art Basel festivities, he found that police surrounded the perimeter, as the responded to an active bomb threat. Thus, no one could enter, and the “Big Pimpin” rapper told officers that he had to reach his hotel room. They maintained that no one could enter while they searched the premises and investigated the threat, and he would have to wait until they finished. But the Queens native wasn’t having it, even after police told him they would arrest him if he tried to get in.

Allegedly, according to what law enforcement told TMZ, he responded to their warning with, “I’ll bond out in 20 minutes.” Then, Rich The Kid went to another corner of the hotel, where the officers he met told him basically the same thing. According to their testimony, he challenged them with, “Stop me,” and jumped the fence. When the “Still Movin’” MC entered SLS, he met a K-9 unit who instructed him to leave, but he refused. Instead, he loitered in the driveway, and police then arrested him and took him in on two misdemeanor charges: trespassing and resisting an officer without violence.

However, this isn’t all that Rich The Kid has to deal with when it comes to being accountable for his actions. During a recent interview with The Shade Room, he reflected on his cheating scandal with fiancée Tori Brixx, for which he had publicly apologized. “I’m fighting for my family,” the 31-year-old shared. “Got to go hard for what you want. She definitely is my family. We been together for, like, six years. I definitely see myself with her for the rest of my life, I’d be a fool to do anything else.”

Meanwhile, the couple came together since then, and seem to be in a much better place. As of writing this article, he doesn’t seem to have addressed this recent arrest on social media. But hopefully the couple continues this upward trajectory despite some legal trouble. On that note, log back into HNHH for more news and the latest updates on Rich The Kid.

Lil Nas X “Inspired” After “Long Live Montero” Premiere Bomb Threat

Lil Nas X apparently felt “inspired” after a bomb threat was called into the premiere of his documentary, Long Live Montero, according to the film’s co-director, Carlos López Estrada. The filmmaker says that Nas booked a studio session after the incident and went to record new music.

“We got to experience in five minutes what the life of Montero is like,” Estrada told Indiewire. “And at the base of it all, it was this really awful, just horrific thing that you would have someone who disagrees with your worldview … They want to threaten your safety and make you feel scared for your life. That’s like the most horrible thing that a human can do to another. But you look past that and then Montero has this sort of amazing irreverence to him of just being like, ‘Yeah, but how rockstar is that?’”

“He said he felt inspired and he booked his studio and he went to record,’” Estrada said. “This was at 2:00 a.m. and I was just like, ‘What better token of appreciation can we get from our subject, from the coolest artist in the world to say that you made a movie about me. We premiered it together. We did a Q&A. And his reaction to it is, ‘I’m inspired. I’m going to go create more.’ It is like, ‘Oh, we’re good. Whatever happens to the movie next is not up to us. But that’s incredible.’”

As for the film itself, attendees at TIFF say the film follows Nas’ Long Live Montero tour and features Nas’ brother reflecting on how he came to terms with his own bisexuality. Additionally, Nas recalls running into Viola Davis at an Erewhon store in Los Angeles.

Lil Nas X TIFF Premiere Delayed By 30 Minutes Due To Bomb Threat

The premiere of Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero at the Toronto International Film Festival was briefly delayed on September 9. As Lil Nas X arrived at the screening, event organizers were informed that a bomb threat had been received. Furthermore, law enforcement revealed that the threat had been explicitly made against Lil Nas X. This was due to his status as a Black queer artist. However, the threat was deemed to be a hoax. As a result, the screening was able to go ahead after a 30-minute delay. This is the first major incident to affect TIFF specifically. The festival has introduced new security over the past few years. This was in response to incidents at other festivals and in the wider Toronto area.

“Earlier this evening, we were made aware by the Toronto Police Service of an investigation in the vicinity of the red carpet for the Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero screening. Our standard security measures remained in place during this time and the screening commenced with a slight delay. To our knowledge, this was a general threat and not directed at the film or the artist.” A TIFF spokesperson told Variety. The latter portion of this was later disputed, stating that the threat was made against Lil Nas X specifically.

Lil Nas X Hopes Film Will Help Change The World

The bomb threat is a perfect example of what Lil Nas is hoping to combat with his film. “I know in my lifetime, while I’m here, I’m going to do my best to make the ceiling unreachable to where we can go as Black queer people. And I mean unreachable as, like, it can go above and beyond. I feel like we live in a generation where Black queer people really control culture. And they’re helping really take the world to the next level. And I think that’s going to have an effect on our youth watching us,” Nas told Variety.

“I think there are a lot of different layers to the film, which is surprising maybe for a music documentary. I think what was really important was that Montero himself was so transparent in his identity and also his journey toward being the fullest version of his identity that he really wanted to be. And I think sharing that journey with us and going on that journey with his family ended up really becoming the heart of the film. But he’s also able to put himself in perspective as a part of a continuum of other Black queer performers who came before him. I think his reflections on those things became the spine and the heart of the film. It became really important to the narrative, and also to how we understand him as more than just an artist, but understand him as a person,” added co-director Zac Manuel.

Milwaukee Police Capt. Warren E. Allen Jr. also addressed the incident in a statement to the outlet.

“Regarding the bomb threat in the 100 block of W. Wisconsin, all patrons have been safely evacuated,” Allen Jr. said. “Police are clearing the facility at this time. The investigation is fluid and ongoing.”
