Lil Nas X “Inspired” After “Long Live Montero” Premiere Bomb Threat

Lil Nas X apparently felt “inspired” after a bomb threat was called into the premiere of his documentary, Long Live Montero, according to the film’s co-director, Carlos López Estrada. The filmmaker says that Nas booked a studio session after the incident and went to record new music.

“We got to experience in five minutes what the life of Montero is like,” Estrada told Indiewire. “And at the base of it all, it was this really awful, just horrific thing that you would have someone who disagrees with your worldview … They want to threaten your safety and make you feel scared for your life. That’s like the most horrible thing that a human can do to another. But you look past that and then Montero has this sort of amazing irreverence to him of just being like, ‘Yeah, but how rockstar is that?’”

“He said he felt inspired and he booked his studio and he went to record,’” Estrada said. “This was at 2:00 a.m. and I was just like, ‘What better token of appreciation can we get from our subject, from the coolest artist in the world to say that you made a movie about me. We premiered it together. We did a Q&A. And his reaction to it is, ‘I’m inspired. I’m going to go create more.’ It is like, ‘Oh, we’re good. Whatever happens to the movie next is not up to us. But that’s incredible.’”

As for the film itself, attendees at TIFF say the film follows Nas’ Long Live Montero tour and features Nas’ brother reflecting on how he came to terms with his own bisexuality. Additionally, Nas recalls running into Viola Davis at an Erewhon store in Los Angeles.

Lil Nas X Helped His Brother Accept His Own Bisexuality, “Long Live Montero” Doc Reveals

Lil Nas X helped his brother come to terms with his own bisexuality, as detailed in his new documentary, Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero. According to Entertainment Weekly, which witnessed the world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday night, Nas’ brother Tramon Hill speaks about receiving support from the rapper. The film as a whole details Nas’ debut tour, 2022’s Long Live Montero.

“My brother really opened doors for a lot of people,” Hill says in the film, as noted by EW. “Yeah, he opened a door for me. What I mean by that, like, I’m not gay, though, you feel me? I’m bisexual. He helped me be real with myself. My brother made me more open to it.”

Later, Hill speaks about how his relationships may be affected by coming out. “If you f–k with me, you f–l with me. If you don’t, you don’t. Bye. Get out of my presence. I don’t need you,” Hill says. “At the end of the day, people are going to f–k with who they f–k with, so stop trying to chase a friend. A friend is going to always be there.”

When the film premiered, it was delayed by 20 minutes after a bomb threat was called into the venue. Authorities eventually found the threat not to the credible. Nas has still not announced a release date for the film. Elsewhere in it, he discusses meeting Viola Davis at the L.A. grocery store, Erewhon. “I met Viola Davis at an Erewhon, but I don’t think she knew who the f– I was,” Nas says in the film. “I was like, ‘I’m such a big fan,’ and she was like, ‘Oh, thanks,’ and she hurried out the store. It was kind of funny.”

The ‘Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero’ Documentary Is Coming And Is Set To Debut At The 2023 Toronto International Film Festival

The “Industry Baby” rapper will bring his talents, or at least a film centered on them, to the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Filmmakers Carlos López Estrada and Zac Manuel’s directorial undertaking, Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero, will debut globally at the esteemed festival starting September 9.

The documentary, filmed during Lil Nas X’s Long Live Montero World Tour, is described on the TIFF website: “Lil Nas X: Long Live Montero offers a joyous immersion in the world of a game-changing artist and the fans who’ve joined him in that change. Lil Nas X’s Setlist Of Songs For ‘Long Live Montero Tour’

Lil Nas X hit a major career milestone earlier this month when he launched his first-ever concert tour, the Long Live Montero Tour. He’s been on the road for a few weeks, which makes now a good time to ask the question: What does his setlist look like?

Setlist.fm, the most comprehensive resource for concert setlists available online, has the answer. According to their data, the rapper has been rolling out the same setlist each time, which makes sense given how highly produced the show is. So far, he’s been opening with “Panini,” closing his main set with “Industry Baby,” and coming back for a one-song encore of “Star Walkin’.”

When it comes to album-by-album representation, Montero songs have made the most setlist appearances, while the 7 EP is second, which makes sense given that those are his two only releases so far and Montero has more songs than does 7.

Check out the average setlist (so far) for the Long Live Montero Tour below.

1. “Panini”
2. “Tales Of Dominica”
3. “Sun Goes Down”
4. “Old Town Road”
5. “Rodeo”
6. “Dead Right Now”
7. “Don’t Want It”
8. “That’s What I Want”
9. “Lost In The Citadel”
10. “Montero (Call Me By Your Name)”
11. “Down Souf Hoes”
12. “Scoop”
13. “Industry Baby”
14. “Star Walkin’ (encore)

Lil Nas X Vogued To Beyonce’s ‘Pure/Honey’ At His Tour Opener And Fans Couldn’t Get Enough Of It

When Beyonce released Renaissance at the end of July, a major talking point was how heavy it leaned into dance music. Many listeners stated that she would be instrumental in bringing back voguing, a dance style popular in the 1980s that evolved from the Harlem ballroom scene of the 1960s. Well, those people were right, but they may not have anticipated it being done on such a large stage as Lil Nas X commanded on the opening night of his Long Live Montero Tour.

In two separate videos shared on Twitter on Tuesday (September 6) and Wednesday (September 7), the “Industry Baby” artist can be seen vogueing to Beyonce’s “Pure/Honey.” One of those who tweeted captioned their video “Yall @lilnasx voguing to Pure/Honey was everything I didn’t know I needed.” The pop star wasn’t alone either, as his backup dancers joined in. The crowd erupted with excitement, singing along to the lyrics and encouraging the 23-year-old to “cut a rug,” as they would popularly say in the 1920s and 1930s.

Lil Nas X is a talented showman on his own, but infusing Beyonce songs and such a popular dance style into his set likely made that a night that attendees will never forget.

Lil Nas X Debuts A Brand-New Song On His First Long Live Montero Tour Date

It has been almost a year since Lil Nas X released his debut album Montero, which means it’s about time for some new music from the big MTV VMAs winner. Fortunately for fans at the first show on his Long Live Montero Tour in Detroit last night, it looks like he’s been in the studio. In addition to hits like “Call Me By Your Name” and “Industry Baby,” Lil Nas X also performed a new, unreleased song, reportedly titled “StarWalking” during his headlining set.

As you can see in the videos above, he also jumped off the stage to mingle with the audience, much to his crowd’s delight.

“StarWalking” probably won’t be the only new song he shares in the coming months. During a recent interview with Complex, he teased that he has “something very special coming really soon around the time of my tour starting” that he’s “super excited about music-wise.” He also promised “some unexpected things, collaborations coming up. I wouldn’t want to ruin those, though.”

No doubt, he’s keeping the well of inspiration flowing these days so he won’t have to “milk” a song like “Old Town Road” again, according to a response he gave to a fan about doing a bunch of “Call Me By Your Name” remixes. You can catch the tour as it continues through October 23 in San Francisco.

Lil Nas X Wants To Tour With The Wiggles And If He’s Serious, They’re On Board

A few days ago, Lil Nas X shared some big news, announcing the Long Live Montero Tour, his first-ever headlining concert tour. Then, the next day, he took to Twitter to share some follow-up news, tweeting, “trying really hard to get the wiggles to coheadline the tour with me. i will keep you guys updated.”

Of course, Lil Nas X jokes more than just about anybody in the music industry, so it’s extremely possible/likely that he was just goofing around with that message. If he did happen to be serious, though, The Wiggles are ready.

A few hours after Nas’ tweet, The Wiggles responded, confirming that they’re on board by tweeting, “We’re ready to wiggle with you,” followed by four heart emojis, one in each color of the group’s members. The group’s Anthony Field offered his own response, tweeting, “The Big Red Car is packed and ready mate! Let’s Wiggle!”

It’s important to remember that odds are, Lil Nas X was kidding and The Wiggles are just going along with the joke for a good bit of internet fun. Still, it’s not like The Wiggles are strangers to big names in the music industry, as they recently performed with Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker. Also, actually going through with a co-headlining Wiggles tour would be a hilarious feather in Lil Nas X’s comedic cap.
