One of the best parts of Halloween is right after it ends, funnily enough. That’s when we see all of our friends, mutuals, and favorite celebrities really show off their costumes on a night out or just to feel stunning at home. But Latto definitely belongs in the former group. She recently shared her spooky season fits via social media, and had fans hopping over themselves due to their curious connection. The Atlanta femcee showed off her curves via two costumes: one of the Who Framed Roger Rabbit favorite Jessica Rabbit and one of a Playboy Bunny. That last one was one she used to shout out her ongoing tour, which stopped in Brooklyn on Hallows’ Eve with guests Mariah The Scientist and KARRAHBOOO.

However, some eagled-eyed fans may be able to spot the similarities between these Halloween costume picks and those of other female rappers. For example, collaborator Cardi B also dressed as Jessica Rabbit, and both did a great job of emulating the look. While Cardi made her makeup a little more extravagant, Latto chose to place most of the emphasis on how pristine the red gown looks.

On the other hand, other similarities between Latto and fellow women in the rap game might be a more controversial and combative comparison. We say “supposed” because they’ve both addressed not really caring too much about it in the first place, so it’s more of a social media fanbase war than anything. There’s a lot of ink over the state of female rap and their interpersonal career dynamics, and she’s been a big part of that discussion for better or worse. Latto’s social media team must be scrambling right now, because she’s currently subjected to a Twitter hack as of last night (Saturday, September 8). Moreover, these posts on the account include some shade towards SZA and Nicki Minaj and leaked personal information. From what we can gather from a lot of these tweets (most of which don’t have anything to do with the Atlanta femcee herself), it looks like this is someone trying to get back at their ex-partner, who’s a fan of her music. It’s all a pretty complicated situation and still a very unclear one, so we’ll see if the near future holds any updates.

Furthermore, Latto indicated via her Instagram Story that she was aware of the hack, and is probably trying her best to regain access. This adds to a pretty turbulent but nonetheless successful year for the Trapper of the Year. Between a new album, some combative bar trades with Ice Spice, and a whole lot of fan discussions, there was a lot to take in for 2024. Like many Atlanta and Southern legends before her, Latto just received a high honor from T.I at the Trap Music Museum in Atlanta. Moreover, she received the award for Trapper Of The Year, which is a fitting title for one of her best 12-month treks of her career so far. Thanks to a new album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, plus a whole lot of hot storylines, the Atlanta femcee is in a great position in 2024. She seemed very excited by the whole occasion as the museum revealed an exhibit of her with a big Georgia peach LED light.

Overall, it’s a pretty wholesome moment to witness, and an innocuous but nonetheless important accolade to receive. It contributes to some of Latto’s other happenings in the city, such as a sit-down interview with fellow Atlanta trapper 2 Chainz and his son Halo. It seems like 2 Chainz’s son is building more and more connections in the rap game, and we’d guess that his father is quite proud. Moreover, a recent video went viral online that shows Latto giving her fellow Atlanta rapper’s son her number, telling him to text her so she can “lock him in” and so she doesn’t lose his number amid a lot of random messages. The funniest part of the clip, though, was when the artist formerly known as Tity Boi’s son told his dad about it excitedly as he watched from the sidelines. “I got the W rizz, I got the dub rizz,” he said of getting the Sugar Honey Iced Tea femcee’s number while dapping his dad up.

“Daddy, let me give the rizz power to you,” 2 Chainz’s son told him while putting his hand up against his chest and back to his own. Then, after verbalizing his special attack, he transferred “the rizz” back to his dad through a Kamehameha-like move, which is one of the most playfully sweet moments you’ll witness this week. Sure, people immediately jumped to the worst conclusions possible about this interaction, but it’s clear that it’s all for the laughs, as Latto herself was joking about the “W rizz.” More likely than not, she and Chainz just linked up with the latter’s son there and they thought it would be cool for them to communicate. Also, it adds to the wholesome and comical canon of the Chainz family dynamic.

Latto Gets Official But Disappointing First Week Sales For “Sugar Honey Iced Tea”

Latto’s new album Sugar Honey Iced Tea has been a big hit for fans, but they are a bit disappointed with the wider music-consuming landscape for not showing the same love. Moreover, the project’s official first week sales numbers are here courtesy of HITS Daily Double and Chart Data, pointing to a No. 14 debut on the Billboard 200 chart with 29K in album-equivalent units sold. Some of the Atlanta femcee’s rival fanbases already clowned this debut, but it’s not far off from what many other rap creatives are selling these days. As such, it’s important to note that this is part of a wider conversation around rap’s commercial status, not a sole attack or ridicule concerning a specific artist.

However, things didn’t always go perfect, as Usher faced some technical mic issues while trying to perform his track “Superstar.” She stepped in with her own vocals and helped him sing it and move onto another cut, and he paid tribute to her with a tender speech. “You know, we have this thing that we do in Atlanta, where we just seem to keep making history. Tonight, Latto made history, being the first female to [headline] Birthday Bash. We wanna give her her flowers one time.”

Furthermore, Latto and Usher have developed a pretty close bond in recent years, bolstered by collaborations like her appearance on his new album COMING HOME. It’s great to see older and newer generations come together and support each other, even when their genre focuses might not always line up perfectly.
