BIA Reimagines Petey Pablo’s “Raise Up” for New Single “Raised Me” for ‘Pixel RePresents’ Content Series

BIA Reimagines Petey Pablo's "Raise Up" for New Single "Raised Me"

BIA has released her latest track, “Raised Me,” a captivating and heartfelt reinterpretation of Petey Pablo’s regional anthem, “Raise Up.” The song is part of the Pixel RePresents series, a collaboration between entertainment company Mass Appeal, Google Pixel, and Sony Music Entertainment’s Certified, which aims to elevate women in Hip Hop by reimagining iconic genre-defining tracks.

Leading up to the release of “Raised Me,” Lola Brooke and Flo Milli also contributed to the series with their versions of Clipse’s “Grindin” and Too $hort’s “Blow The Whistle,” respectively. Each track is accompanied by unique artwork captured with a Google Pixel 7 Pro featuring Real Tone technology to ensure an accurate representation of all skin tones.

To complement the release, Creator Labs artist Myesha Evon Gardner directed a behind-the-scenes video, interview series, and social campaign. The videos will be available on EBONY.com, the central hub for all Pixel RePresents content. “Raised Me” and the subsequent releases will culminate in the Pix Tape EP, set for release in August to coincide with the 50th anniversary of Hip Hop.

Pixel RePresents is part of Mass Appeal’s Hip Hop 50 initiative, a global celebration marking five decades of Hip Hop. Alongside Pixel RePresents, Mass Appeal has selected Google Pixel as the exclusive handset device for Hip Hop 50 and partnered with Certified to unveil 50 product releases in honor of the genre’s milestone birthday.

DDG’s New Album ‘Maybe It’s Me…’: Everything To Know So Far

DDG deceived fans into believing Halle Bailey was pregnant on April Fool’s Day, but the platinum-certified artist isn’t playing around when it comes to Maybe It’s Me…, his forthcoming album and follow-up to last year’s It’s Not Me It’s You.

“I don’t know, Doc. I just feel like people really be hatin’ on me for no reason, and they don’t really know what be going on. They just be going off of what they see on the internet,” DDG said in his newly dropped official trailer for Maybe It’s Me… while laying on what appears to be a therapist’s coach. “But if people knew what was really going on, like, I wouldn’t even be going through this mentally.”

DDG references “a little screenshot on Twitter scandal” that started his struggle, presumably the DMs exposed his ex-partner Rubi Rose, which has “been going on for, like, five, six months now.” The camera cuts to a young Woo Wop holding a notepad and asking DDG why he decided to DM his ex. DDG said he “was just being petty,” which directly nods toward his February single, “Way Too Petty.”

Woo Wop encourages DDG to “be the bigger person” because he’s “not in the same position as before.”

DDG is about to attract even more attention with the release of Maybe It’s Me…, and below is everything to know about the album so far.

Singles

DDG released the sizzling single “This Summer” in early April, but it was quickly overshadowed by the sticky, self-aggrandizing “I’m Geekin.” DDG remixed “I’m Geekin” with Luh Tyler in May and again with BIA and NLE Choppa in June. Most recently, DDG dropped “Trynna Link” last week.

Tour

As of this writing, DDG had no announced plans for a subsequent tour.

Fans Speculate if Burna Boy Dissed BIA on New Single “Mera Na”

ag

It looks like beef is stirring up between BIA and Burna Boy.  In case you missed it, a few years ago, BIA spoke with Nicki Minaj on Live, stating she did not know what WizKid, Davido, or Burna Boy looked like.  The Grammy-winning artist did not forget that.

He just had a verse on the song “Mera Na,” in which his fans assume a few lines are for the “Whole Lotta Money” rapper.  At the end of his verse, Burna Boy allegedly addresses BIA.

“Heard a stupid ho said she don’t know my face/
Got to find out she’d been all in my DMs/
Haan, haan, haan, haan, haan/
Told my ex, “It’s over now”, haan/
I’m worldwide, I’m global now, haan”

The song was just released this past Friday, and Nigerians took to Twitter to spread the speculation.  And, BIA got word of this and took to Twitter as well.

An international feud seems to be brewing.  Actually, “Mera Na” has seen instant success.  It has been viewed over 14 million times on YouTube in 24 hours, with millions of comments and likes.  Sidhu Moose Wala was an Indian rapper who was killed in May of 2022.  “Mera Na” is his third posthumous single, and he was able to fulfill one of his wishes.  Sidhu always wanted to make music with Burna Boy, and now they have a hit!
