Nicki Minaj Almost Removed Her Verse From Her Upcoming Coi Leray Collab, ‘Blick Blick’

Nicki Minaj and Coi Leray‘s upcoming collaboration “Blick Blick” is already one of the most anticipated singles of the year. But the collab, due later this week, almost didn’t happen.

After Leray’s father Benzino leaked the news of the collab in a Clubhouse last month, Minaj removed her verse. She took to her Instagram story to deny rumors of the collab, noting she’s solely in “Onika mode.” Minaj ultimately changed her mind after speaking with Leray privately.

“I just felt bad that she was robbed of telling the world in her own way @ her own time,” Minaj said in a Twitter Q&A with fans on Monday. “But that’s water under the bridge now. Good vibes all 2022.”

Before Minaj and Leroy revealed the collab was, in fact, real, Benzino apologized to the two rappers via Twitter, saying “I feel horrible and sad. I am 100 percent in the wrong and it will never happen again.”

Ahead of the song’s release, Minaj promised to deliver the “verse of the year,” warning the Barbz that they won’t be able to immediately learn it upon first listen. “Breath control. Breathe. Meditate. Diction exercises. Do that for the next 4 days. Then maybe.”

“Blick Blick” is out 3/18 via Republic. Pre-save it here.

Benzino Is Dissing Eminem On Twitter Again

Benzino has been going after Eminem for almost 20 years now. It starts with the former co-owner of The Source magazine giving the Detroit rapper’s 2000 album, The Marshall Mathers LP, a rating of 2 out of 5 mics. This beef was revived in late 2020 when Benzino took to Twitter to say, “Face it stans y’all will always be hip hop goofiest most out of touch fan base.” Collaborator and friend of Eminem Royce Da 5’9″ stepped in to defend him with a series of posts on social media.

Now, the saga continues. According to XXL, Money Man made a since-deleted tweet that said, “I ain’t never listened to no Eminem.” Benzino replied, “Nobody in my hood did.” As fans took to Twitter to get involved, Benzino viewed it as an opportunity to continue dissing Eminem. One fan wrote, “Say it to @Eminem face I bet you won’t your a poor excuse for a father and human being,” to which Benzino replied: “I’ll say it to his face but he’s scared coward p*ssy like his fan base.”

Per Complex, he also made some since-deleted tweets saying he “been left this sh*t alone but since the coward ass stans wanna talk sh*t and hide then it’s still f*ck Eminem and if you got a problem with me do something about it,” and threatened that he knows “how to fight and I got big sticks so pull up.”

Benzino Issues Apology to Coi Leray After Blasting Nicki Minaj Collab

Benzino issued a public apology to Coi Leray after blasting potential Nicki Minaj collab.

24-year-old Coi Leray gained her prominence in the music industry after the release of her viral single, “No More Parties” in 2021, and later adding Chicago’s very own, Lil Durk, onto the single and releasing the music video. The song reached over 76 million views on Youtube, making people want to know more about the trendy superstar.

Since then, Coi has continued to release music with hits such as TWINNEM, At the Top, BIG PURR featuring Pooh Shiesty and more. While Coi Leray is on a consistent run in her music career, the New Jersey native is gearing up to release her highly anticipated debut album.

While the album is still in the works, fans are trying to figure out which artist will be making a guest appearance on the new album. Following a series of events yesterday, fans may now have an idea after Benzino, father of Coi, may have spilled the beans.

“She got the song with Nicki Minaj that’s gonna be coming out that’s gonna be crazy,” Benzino stated in a room on clubhouse. When the media got wind of the collab so many were excited for the singer before Nicki Minaj addressed the rumor stating that she doesn’t have an upcoming collab with anyone. “I don’t have a collab coming with anyone. Onika mode. Love you,” Nicki penned on her Instagram story.

Clearly frustrated with her dad’s actions, Coi Leray took to social media to address his claims, stating that she advises that her father takes the backseat in her career and let her steer the wheel.  “When people was yappin’ they mouth on the Clubhouse he felt like he had to defend himself but I had to tell my dad, he’s an OG and he was super-super big back in the day and everybody knows my dad’s an OG. He gotta play the back, gracefully,” she began. “It’s my turn now. It’s my turn, daddy. I’ma need you to sit the f**k down, grab some popcorn, enjoy the show, and clap for me when it’s time to clap for me. Alright, daddy?”

Although the singer is airing out her frustration, it’s a good thing to see the two on good terms following their online feud at the start of the singer’s career. “He’s going to go hard for me every single time. He not going to let nobody talk crazy about me or nothing,” she added.  “I guess it was a situation where people was yapping their mouth on the Clubhouse and he felt like he had to defend himself.”

Could Nicki Minaj and Coi Leray really have a collab on the way?
