Well, Look At That, Jennifer Lopez And Ben Affleck Finally Went And Got Married (And In Vegas, No Less)

It’s been a very ‘80s summer, with the season’s top movie being a sequel to Top Gun and a nearly 40-year-old Kate Bush song almost topping the charts. (Oh, and Reagan-era Metallica are doing good, too.) So hopefully you don’t mind if things suddenly get retro aughts, because one of the Bush II era’s biggest couples finally got hitched.

As per Variety, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck filed their official marriage license on Saturday, a mere three months after they announced their engagement. The license was filed in Clark County, Nevada, which means they likely tied the knot in Las Vegas, just like many a happy couple. Lopez officially took his surname, though it’s currently unclear if she’ll continue using her professional name or not.

In the 2000s, the two only dated for a year and a half, but they became one of the most tabloid-happy couples of the decade. They were one of a handful of celebrity pairs known jointly as a portmanteau, namely “Bennifer.” The press had it out for them, especially when they made two films together. Gigli, released in 2003, became one of the most notorious bombs of the era, so derided by critics and the public alike that Lopez’s already small role in Kevin Smith’s Jersey Girl, released the following year, was reduced even further.

Affleck eventually moved on to Jennifer Garner, to whom he was married from 2005 through 2018. The two had a tumultuous relationship. He also dated actress Ana de Armas for about a year. Lopez, meanwhile, wound up with singer Marc Anthony, to whom she was married for a decade starting in 2004. She also dated her former backup dancer Casper Smart and Yankee Alex Rodriguez.

In April of last year, it was reported the two had reconnected after nearly two decades. Now look at them. Also, did you know Ben’s middle name is “Géza”? It’s the Hungarian word for “little prince.” The more you know! And congrats to the happy couple!

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Reportedly Got Married

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck

The second time might be a charm for Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck.

While neither party has confirmed details, court records confirm Lopez and Affleck obtained a marriage license in Clark County, Nevada (which is where Las Vegas is located) on Saturday, July 16.

However, sources close to the couple reportedly told TMZ that the two officially wed on Saturday.

Lopez and Affleck began dating in 2002 before ending things in 2004. Lopez married Marc Anthony with whom she shares twins Emme and Max. Affleck went on to marry Jennifer Garner. The couple has three children: Violet, Seraphina, and Sam.

Both Affleck and Lopez got divorced from their respective spouses, but rekindled their romance in 2021 before officially announcing their engagement in April of 2022.

In April, Lopez described how Affleck proposed with a green diamond ring while she was in the bath, writing: “[I] just looked in his eyes smiling and crying at the same time trying hard to get my head around the fact that after 20 years this was happening all over again…I was quite literally speechless and he said, ‘Is that a yes?’ I said, ‘YES of course that’s a YES.’”

Jennifer Lopez Engaged to Ben Affleck, Shows Green Engagement Ring

Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez are engaged. In the JLo newsletter, the iconic singer announced the engagement with a new video. The ring is a green stone set on a silver ban. PEOPLE notes Lopez has previously detailed why green is an important color for her.

“I always say the color green is my lucky color,” Lopez wrote in the past. “Maybe you can remember a certain green dress.”

She added, “I’ve realized there are many moments in my life where amazing things happened when I was wearing green.” Now Lopez has green on her hand every day.

“It’s very cute to see how excited she is,” a source close to Lopez stated. “Ben makes her incredibly happy.”

This is the second engagement for the two, once setting themselves on the path to marriage in 2004.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck Spotted Again in Los Angeles

Is it just me or does it feel like Deja Vu?

Let’s go back to 20 years ago when Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck co-starred in “Gigli” and encountered what I presume you would call love at first sight, since they are back at it again. They first started dating in 2002 and got engaged in November of the same year.

Friendly reminder that JLo was coming out of divorce back in 2002. She was previously married to her second husband, Cris Judd. So when Jen and Ben started their first engagement the media could not ignore the fact that she had another rock on her finger by November. Affleck initially proposed to Lopez with a beautiful 6-carat pink diamond ring.

Even though Jennifer and Ben called off their engagement in 2004, it is clear to us all that this was not the end of their love. It was not too far back that Jennifer had a lovely 16-cart emerald-cut diamond ring. It was worth about $1.8 million – talk about big rings. I am sure Drake and Future are impressed with JLo’s lovely compilation of engagement rings. About a year ago Jennifer and Alex Rodriguez called off their 2-year engagement. And if there is one thing we know about JLo she loves love, so here we are a year later with another big announcement.

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are engaged (again)! This time around Jennifer shared the big news with a sweet video on social media directing you to visit her OnTheJLo.com. If you were signed up for her newsletter you received a big surprise right away!

This time around Ben Affleck came to show out. He is clearly a fan of colored diamonds, since this time around he presented Jennifer with a green diamond engagement ring. We do not have all the details yet, but if it is truly a green diamond he spent at least $5 million dollars on that beauty.

All I can say at this point is best wishes to Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck! Everything that is meant to be will find its way, right?

Jennifer Lopez Reveals That She And Ben Affleck Are Engaged

Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck are very much in love, but for the second time in their lives, they’re ready to tie the knot! Lopez shared the news in a message to readers of her On The JLo newsletter and it came days after she was spotted earlier this week with what many believed to be an engagement ring on her finger. Prior to sharing the exciting news, Lopez teased a “major announcement” in a video she posted on Twitter Friday night. “So I have a really exciting and special story to share…” Lopez said in the video. She also added a ring emoji to her name on Twitter.

In the newsletter, Lopez included a video of her fawning over the large, green diamond ring, and her sister Lynda also shared images of the ring on her Instagram Story. Lopez and Affleck’s engagement comes nearly 20 years after their first engagement which occurred back in November 2002. At that time, the couple planned to get married in September 2003, but the wedding was postponed with four days’ notice. Two months later, the wedding was called off. Their engagement also comes a year after Lopez and ex-fiance Alex Rodriguez called off their own wedding.

In a past interview with People, Lopez was asked what makes her connection with Affleck different this time around. “We’re older now, we’re smarter, we have more experience,” she said. “We’re at different places in our lives, we have kids now, and we have to be very conscious of those things.”

Snoop Dogg Got Ben Affleck’s Name Wrong While Announcing Golden Globe Nominees But Otherwise Nailed It

Earlier this morning, the nominees for the 79th Annual Golden Globe Awards were announced in Los Angeles and to great surprise, Hollywood Foreign Press President Helen Hoehner gave way to an illustrious Southern Californian to read off the first half of nominations, saying, “And now to help me announce the 79th Annual Golden Globe nominees, please welcome a special guest… Snoop Dogg.”

Out came the lanky six-foot-four-inch rapper with a red “Murder” beanie on his head, an asymmetrical paisley button down shirt, modest-sized gold medallion, and of course, Locs sunglasses. First off, big shouts to Snoop Dogg for getting up in time to appear in front of a screen by 6 a.m. That’s a father of four right there, people.

But for all the jabs Snoop Dogg has received for mispronouncing a couple names (“Ben Uhffleck… Ben Affleck. My fault… sorry about that, Ben.”), he actually totally nails all or most of some pretty difficult names. He pronounced Dune director Denis Villeneuve’s name with very stout French pronunciation of a hard “e” at the end. He then showed his versatility in the love language by pronouncing The French Dispatch composer Alexandre Desplat’s name with a soft “t.”

Of course there were moments of hilarity, like the way he said Pose actress Michaela J. Rodirguez’s last name like it was one of the homies from the block (“Rordriguezz!”) or how he delivered the title of the musical Tick, Tick…Boom! like it was the punctuation to a song lyric.

So don’t listen to anyone who makes the condescending claim that Snoop Dogg was “butchering so many of the nominees’ names that it was hard to tell who actually got nominated.” Because he was absolutely himself and he did a fine job at the mundane task before him.

Diddy Posted A J-Lo Throwback After Rumors Surfaced She’d Reunited With Ben Affleck

Well, he didn’t change his middle name to “Love” for nothing. Sean Combs — aka Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Diddy, and Brother Love — has proven himself once again to be a masterful social media troll, keying into the renewed rumors of his ex Jennifer Lopez’s reunion with Ben Affleck to incite a little Joker-esque chaos on an otherwise quiet Thursday.

After the news broke that J. Lo — who’s had a bit of fun with the celebrity gossip industrial complex on social media herself lately — had broken up with Alex Rodriguez, the peanut gallery got a huge chunk of fat to chew as the actress/singer was later seen out with former beau Ben Affleck. Not to be outdone or forgotten, though, Diddy made sure that followers would remember that before there was “Bennifer,” Diddy was the other half of a Lopez power couple — one that had its fair share of memorable moments.

Posting a photo of the two of them together with a #TBT (Throwback Thursday) hashtag, Diddy stirred up a veritable symphony of flabbergasted fan reactions wondering whether he was shooting his shot or just kicking up dust for the fun of it. For what it’s worth, for Puff to still be in the running after all these years, J. Lo would have to have forgiven him for getting her arrested after the infamous 1999 nightclub shooting that sent Shyne to prison for a decade and contributed to the couple’s breakup. Diddy’s a notorious optimist, and it has been twenty years, but if he really is calling his shot, his odds probably aren’t great after this stunt. Check out the responses below.
