Texas Rangers Win First World Series In Franchise History

The Texas Rangers are World Series champions after a 5-0 Game 5 shutout against the Arizona Diamondbacks. A pitching gem from Nathan Eovaldi and some clutch top-of-the-order hitting helped make history for the 62-year-old franchise. Shortstop Corey Seager was named World Series MVP, becoming just the second position player after Reggie Jackson to win the award multiple times. Seager was previously named World Series MVP with the Dodgers in 2020. Furthermore, Game 5 came exactly 13 years after the Rangers lost the 2010 World Series to the Giants. In a twist of fate, then-Giants manager Bruce Bochy was the one to lead the Rangers to this year’s title.

Beyond a 9-1 drubbing in Game 2, the Rangers were in firm control of the World Series from start to finish. Arizona was never able to find a consistent answer to the Rangers, especially the team’s penchant for late-inning heroics. Furthermore, the Rangers were unstoppable on the road throughout the playoffs. They went a perfect 11-0 away from Globe Life Field.

Rangers Make History

“We’ve just got a group of winners. When the bus driver’s driving slow, we tell him, `Hey man, you know you’re driving a group of winners,’ so we believed it through and through. Maybe we struggled at home, but we got it done on the road, and we’ve got a special group,” first baseman Nathaniel Lowe said after the shutout win. Meanwhile, starter Nathan Eovaldi, 5-0 on the postseason, praised the team effort. “I kind of joked around: I don’t know how many rabbits I have in my hat. I didn’t really do a great job tonight in attacking the zone. But our defense, incredible again.”

With the Rangers’ win, just five MLB teams remain without a World Series title. The Rockies, Brewers, Mariners, Padres, and Rays are all without a Fall Classic trophy. Furthermore, the Mariners remain the only team in the league without a World Series appearance. However, with the World Series decided, the league turns to an equally historic offseason. Leading the free agency class is Japanese phenom Shohei Ohtani, who is widely expected to leave the Angels and pursue a winning culture.

Dan Serafini Of MLB Fame Arrested For Alleged Murder Of Father-In-Law

Authorities in Nevada arrested former MLB baseball player Dan Serafini, 49, in connection to the murder of his father-in-law and attempted murder of his mother-in-law in 2021, California’s Placer County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) announced. Moreover, police also apprehended suspect Samantha Scott, 33, in Las Vegas. Serafini previously pitched for the Minnesota Twins, the Chicago Cubs, and various other professional teams throughout his career. Furthermore, his arrest follows a two-year investigation into a 2021 incident that left 70-year-old Robert Gary Spohr deceased and attempted to do the same to 68-year-old Wendy Wood. The perpetrator (or several) shot them in their North Lake Tahoe home, but only Wood recovered from her injuries, although she passed away a year later.

While Placer County awaits Dan Serafini and Samantha Scott’s extradition, they shared more information on the incident in question. On the day of the murder, video surveillance showed a hooded male figure with a face-covering mask and backpack went to Spohr and Wood’s house hours before the crime. The PCSO complied a lot of evidence in this investigation thanks to detective follow-ups and collaboration with the District Attorney’s office. All this led them to believe that Serafini and Scott are suspects, as both have ties to the victims and each other.

PCSO Announces Dan Serafini’s Arrest

“Today, justice was served,” remarked Placer County Sheriff Wayne Woo in this statement about Dan Serafini’s arrest. “The apprehension of those responsible for the tragic events that unfolded in Homewood, North Lake Tahoe in 2021 stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication of our detectives, law enforcement partners, and the persistence of our pursuit of truth. Understand that my team’s commitment to unraveling the most complex of cases prevails. Those who inflict harm upon our community will [face accountability] every time.”

However, other revelations point to Serafini and Scott having other crimes to answer for. The former, according to NBC News, is an inmate in the Humboldt County Detention Center and faces fugitive from justice charges. The same goes for Scott who, in Clark County Detention Center records, has charges of law in evasion another state. Steve Garvey Net Worth 2023: What Is The Baseball Icon Worth?

Nestled in the heart of Tampa, Florida, the city once bore witness to the birth of a baseball phenomenon in the making: Steve Garvey. As early tendrils of dawn would kiss the diamond fields, a young Garvey, bat in hand, would dream of major league glory. The path from Florida to Major League Baseball was paved with dedication and a love for the game. By 2023, that same journey led him to amass an impressive net worth of around $28 million, as cited by Fresherslive.

Steve Garvey stands out in the annals of baseball lore. He is known for impeccable fielding and a batting average that would make pitchers wince. Embarking on his career with the Los Angeles Dodgers, Garvey’s talent was evident from the get-go. Over the years, he has also accumulated accolades, including the prestigious National League MVP title and multiple Gold Glove Awards. His impressive 10 All-Star game appearances solidified his place as one of baseball’s most formidable first basemen. Overall, the phrase “consistency is key” might as well have been coined watching Garvey at play.

Beyond the roaring crowds and the pressure of the pitch, Steve Garvey’s life off the field has been a mix of personal triumphs and challenges. As with many sports icons, his personal life occasionally found its way into tabloid columns. Tim Wakefield, Red Sox Legend, Dies At 57

Legendary Red Sox pitcher Time Wakefield is reported to have died at the age of 57. Additionally, his death comes after a private battle with brain cancer. “Our hearts are broken with the loss of Tim Wakefield. Wake embodied true goodness; a devoted husband, father, and teammate, beloved broadcaster, and the ultimate community leader. He gave so much to the game and all of Red Sox Nation. Our deepest love and thoughts are with Stacy, Trevor, Brianna, and the Wakefield family,” the team wrote on X. Wakefield battled the cancer mostly in private. However, his condition was revealed without his consent by former teammate and right-wing commentator Curt Schilling last week.

Drafted by the Pirates in 1988, Wakefield joined the Majors in 1992. However, released by Pittsburgh ahead of the 1995 season, Wakefield joined the Red Sox and would spend the rest of his career in Boston. Additionally, Wakefield earned 200 wins in over 460 starts across his 19-year career. Recording a career ERA of 4.41, Wakefield is best remembered for his hard-throwing knuckleball and 2004 postseason heroics. Furthermore, he won two rings with Boston and retired at the age of 44. Even more impressive is that in 2009, at the age of 42, Wakefield earned his first and only All-Star nod. Furthermore, it wasn’t a respect nomination, Wakefield was having one of the best years of his career.

Baseball Mourns Tim Wakefield

“Tim’s kindness and indomitable spirit were as legendary as his knuckleball. He not only captivated us on the field but was the rare athlete whose legacy extended beyond the record books to the countless lives he touched with his warmth and genuine spirit. He had a remarkable ability to uplift, inspire, and connect with others in a way that showed us the true definition of greatness. Embodying the very best of what it means to be a member of the Boston Red Sox, his loss is felt deeply by all of us,” Red Sox owner John Henry said in a statement.

“He was just a great competitor when he took that mound. He was just a great teammate and just a great friend. I had the opportunity to work with him on the field and in the booth, and I’m just glad I had the opportunity over the years to be alongside him. And just an amazing husband, father, and community leader. He really enjoyed people and he really enjoyed being around people. And today we lost one of the good ones,” former Red Sox first baseball Kevin Youkilis said ahead of the Red Sox’s season finale against the Orioles.

Kid Cudi Tosses Wild First Pitch At Cleveland Guardians Game: Watch

There are a lot of rappers who wish they could be star athletes, and there are some athletes who wish they could be rappers. There have been a ton of examples where both stars from each respective profession could do both. Quavo is a stud on the basketball court, participating in multiple NBA All-Star Celebrity games. On the other side, you have multiple superstars who can flat-out spit bars. NBA point guard Damian Lillard has a couple of projects out right now that are more than listenable. Shaquille O’Neal is also big in the music scene nabbing a recent feature on a recent single with rap duo Coyote. But, Kid Cudi is not one that fits that mold.

Mr. Rager fits into tons of examples of artists flopping in sports. About nine years ago, most of the world witnessed possibly the worst first pitch in MLB history with 50 Cent. However, Cudi might have something to say about holding that title. Just this past weekend (September 22), the native Clevelander was asked to represent his hometown. The singer and rapper was brought onto the baseball diamond to throw out the first pitch for the Cleveland Guardians.

Kid Cudi Maybe Got A Little Nervous

In the video clips above obtained by HipHopDX, you can see in the second one that Cudi threw a solid practice pitch. However, things took a turn for the worse when more eyeballs were on him. Cudi wound up and threw the ball way outside of home plate, but all he could do was laugh and do a little dance afterward. He did not take himself too seriously, responding to fans saying, “I am a NON ATHLETE bro, its all in good fun!! I havent thrown a baseball since mini league as a kid and I wasnt good then too haha.” At least the Guardians would go on to win their game 9-8 against the Baltimore Orioles, so it was not all bad.

What are your initial thoughts on Kid Cudi’s first pitch at the Cleveland Guardians game? Where does his first pitch rank amongst the rest of the rappers’ appearances on the mound? Do you think you could make a pitch to home plate on an MLB field? We want to hear what you have to say about all of this. With that in mind, be sure to leave all of your thoughts and opinions in the comments section below. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest breaking news around Kid Cudi, as well as the rest of the sports world.

Jay-Z Roasts Stephen A. Smith About Botched Yankees Pitch Via Text

Jay-Z reportedly texted Stephen A. Smith after his terrible first pitch at last night’s Yankees game. According to Smith, the rapper texted him a picture of an article discussing Smith’s picture with a collection of sad face emojis attached. “He’s supposed to be my guy,” Smith said sadly. Furthermore, Derek Jeter reportedly told Smith “don’t mess this up” before the pitch. After the pitch, Jeter called Smith back and told him to claim he was playing “cricket not baseball”.

Smith has attempted to deflect criticism of his terrible first pitch at last night’s Yankees game in a video posted this morning. In the video, Smith is seen to a child in catcher’s gear near the dugout. This was presumably the warm up for his first pitch. However, there are just a few problems with the video. Firstly, Smith’s form is just terrible for a pitcher. Secondly, he appears to be much closer to his catcher than the pitcher’s mound is to home plate. Thirdly, and most importantly, just because you through some strikes beforehand doesn’t mean your first pitch didn’t suck.

Steve Harvey Roasts Stephen A.

However, Jay-Z wasn’t the only person dunking on Smith. “Brother, man, I love you, dog. But I could not believe what I saw. Listen man, I don;t know if anyone who has called in today has actually thrown out a first pitch. I have thrown out a first pitch, at a Cubs game. I walked up to the mound, I’m actually 10, 12 years older than you. I leaned up back, I put some pepper on it. What you did yesterday…oh my god,” Steve Harvey said during a minute-long rant at Smith.

What has made this incident all the more funny is just how confident Smith has previously been about acing his first pitch. Earlier this year, Smith went on a mini-rant on First Take in which he extolled the perceived excellence of his hypothetical first pitch. “I would throw a strike,” Smith told his co-hosts back in July. However, no amount of practice throws is going to make up for the fact that Smith choked about as hard as the Yankees have this year.

Stephen A. Smith Defends Terrible First Pitch With Warm-Up Video

Thirdly, and most importantly, just because you through some strikes beforehand doesn’t mean your first pitch didn’t suck.

Smith’s pitch barely made it to the dirt in front of home plate, let alone anywhere resembling the strike zone. Stephen A. Happy To Be Single

In non-failure news, Smith also recently boasted about how he’s happy to be single. “I’m 55 years old. I’ve never been married and I’m happy about it. Now, one could easily surmise that a past rife with some degree of promiscuity might, dare I say, contribute to my desire to be single. But that’s not the reason. I am not upset about being single. Jeezy, how he filed for divorce from his wife, Jeannie Mai, after only two years, former friends are saying she’s after his money. If Kevin Costner’s monthly child support entitles the children to maintain their quality of life, why should he have to pay to maintain the quality of life for the wife that’s no longer with him?” Smith recently said on his podcast.

In classic Stephen A. fashion, he kind of loses his point towards the end of the rant. However, as best we can tell, Stephen is happy to be single. Furthermore, part of that is because he doesn’t want to get his bank account drained if things end in divorce. Smith has two daughters and was once engaged but things “didn’t work out”.

Stephen A. Smith Throws Terrible First Pitch At Yankees Game

Stephen A. Smith finally got his wish to throw out the first pitch at a baseball game. Unfortunately for the ESPN star, he embarrassed himself on national TV. Smith strode up to the pitcher’s mound with all the confidence in the world before delivering a pitch that barely made it to the dirt in front of home plate. In fairness, even Smith looked disappointed with his effort. The Yankees went on to beat the Blue Jays 5-3, ending a three-game slump for the team. The Yankees will play a home series against the D-Backs this weekend before closing out the season with road series against the Blue Jays and Royals.

However, what makes the situation even funnier is how much shit Smith has talked about what a great first pitch he would throw. Earlier this year, Smith went on a mini-rant on First Take in which he extolled the perceived excellence of his hypothetical first pitch. “Not only would I throw out the first pitch, I would throw a strike,” Smith told his co-hosts back in July. Maybe next time, Stephen.

Smith Joins Victor Wembanyama In Bad First Pitches

Of course, Smith is not the first person to throw a bad first pitch. Hell, Smith isn’t the only person in the last few months to throw a bad first pitch. Prior to the NBA Draft, first-overall pick Victor Wembanyama was also invited to throw out the first pitch at a Yankees game. Wearing the home team pinstripes, and his giant hands dwarfing the ball, Wembanyama took up a position on the pitcher’s mound. While he attempted something of a wind-up, his lazy throw went wide left, almost missing the batter’s box entirely. Accepting his effort, Wembanyama smiled and embraced the catcher.

Both Smith and Wembanyama had bad throws. However, 50 Cent still remains the king of terrible first pitches. Infamously, 50 Cent sort of just threw the ball off to the side while throwing out the first pitch at a 2014 Mets game. Maybe it’s just something in the air in NYC?

Boosie Badazz Can’t Deal With The Heat At Atlanta Braves Game

Boosie Badazz may be a rap-star provocateur, but he’s just as human as the rest of us. Moreover, he recently shared some comical clips on social media of him and presumably his daughter, or at least a kid presumably part of his family. With fans in hand, they were trying to beat the intense heat that was present at the Atlanta Braves game they went to. “Where the designers at?” the Baton Rouge MC cheekily expressed. “I need a Braves wifebeater. Man, why y’all ain’t tell us it’d be this hot at the Braves game? God damn! Came out here… god damn. Oooh, I’m wearing a wifebeater next time.”

Funnily enough, this story sort of ties into another big news piece surrounding Boosie: his beef with Yung Bleu. Apparently, Bleu couldn’t take the heat as much, because he canceled the rest of his tour amid their online feud. Jokes aside, that situation escalated from purely a financial dispute to a personal vendetta, which was nasty to see develop. It seems like things have slowed down in the week since this development, though, which is good to see.

Boosie Tries His Best To Keep Himself Cool At Braves Game

As such, we know that the 40-year-old can handle warm weather, whether in beefs or under the sun. What Boosie won’t stand for is people not offering up the heat upon his request. Recently, he started another beef saga, but a bizarre one that might not see much updates. When the Trill Entertainment affiliate went to Waffle House, they refused to cook his potato, which resulted in a wild rant. If there’s anyone who knows how to make something out of nothing for online entertainment, it’s him.

Meanwhile, it’s at least nice to see the “Set It Off” MC going out and about to more casual or fun activities. Usually, his antics have an industry backdrop, are related to some club incident, or is just him getting himself roped into tough situations on social media. There’s nothing like a baseball game to get your mind off of things… just make sure to dress for the weather. On that note, come back to HNHH for more news and updates on Boosie Badazz.

Sneako & Lil Pump Pop Out At Marlins Game Together

Two polarizing figures within their fields seem to embrace their often eyebrow-raising bong. Moreover, content creator Sneako and Lil Pump recently popped out to a Miami Marlins game, and even showed up on the Jumbotron. Many fans commenting on social media about this joked that very few people in that field probably knew who either of them were. Regardless, the Florida rapper was all smiles in a Chanel beanie, iced-out chains, and his infamously iconic colored dreads. They have a lot of history together, so it’s not too random or surprising to see them popping outside for a good time.

However, if you’re wondering why these stars are “polarizing,” this baseball game isn’t going to help you identify that. Since the boom of the SoundCloud era in hip-hop, Lil Pump made a name for himself off of antics, raw but simplistic trap hits, and his carefree and often wild persona. On the other hand, Sneako’s notorious in YouTube and content cycles, most recently for transphobic comments with Jake Paul and Adin Ross. It’s unclear whether these two bonded for their chaotic personas, their questionable views on the world, or both.

Lil Pump & Sneako Go Out For Some Baseball

Regardless, it doesn’t seem like either has completely fallen off from pop culture, although they did take a dip over the years. While this is for very different reasons, it’s hard to posit that either will give up on leveling up in their careers. For example, Sneako recently claimed that he, Ross, and FouseyTube are starting a content house together, or at least considering it. Considering the backlash that each creator often gets for their behavior, we imagine that morbid curiosity will be what draws dissidents in.

Meanwhile, the “Flex Like Ouu” MC still makes headlines every once in a while for his social media. Sometimes it’s for his statements, other times for his fashion choices, and sometimes because he gets into some trouble. Whatever the case, it’s almost impressive how, despite their music and content dwindling in quality and reach, these two still get eyes on them. With that in mind, stick around on HNHH for the latest news and updates on Sneako and Lil Pump.
