Babyface Ray Will Visit Major US Cities For His ‘Courtesy Of The Mob Tour’ With Detroit Rapper Veeze

Breakout Michigan rapper Babyface Ray is storming the US on the heels of two 2022 albums, Face and Mob, with his Courtesy Of The Mob Tour. The 25-date tour starts on April 6th in Sacramento and will zigzag its way across the country before concluding in Ray’s hometown on May 13th. He’ll be supported on the tour by fellow Detroiter Veeze, and tickets go on sale this Friday February 17th. A presale begins today at 10:00 am local time. First off, Spotify’s playlist for the upcoming hip-hop voices, Most Necessary, is revealing the list of up-and-coming artists that are poised to have an impact on hip-hop culture and leave their stamp on the music business.

The Most Necessary playlist is a subset of RapCaviar, the largest and most popular hip-hop playlist in the world and one of Spotify’s flagship playlists. Babyface Ray Arrested After Car Breaks Down

Babyface Ray has been incredibly successful throughout the past couple of years, steadily working to bring his music to the eyes of the mainstream.

Unfortunately, he’s now facing some legal trouble following an unfortunate incident.

According to TMZ, it all began when a police officer noticed a broken-down BMW car blocking a road. Upon investigating and taking Ray’s information, he says he discovered a number of outstanding warrants. The “Paperwork Party” rapper was subsequently arrested.

The charges include improper possession of a weapon, driving with a suspended license and missing a child custody court appearance. They are all just misdemeanours.

The report from TMZ further indicates that the car is brand new. Ray had allegedly just driven it off of the lot.

The Detroit native is undeniably one of the hottest rappers of 2022, coming off yet another successful year. He dropped two full-length projects, as well as a number of singles this year alone.

Beginning with the release of FACE in January, the 31-year-old has continued to flood the streets with his music.

Arriving two months later, the LP’s deluxe includes eight additional songs and boasts features from DJ ESCO, Lil Yachty, LUCKI, Veeze and Baroline.

Earlier this month, he dropped his second album of the year, MOB. Featuring singles like “Spend It” and “Nice Guy,” the 18-song project further showcases his versatility and Detroit grit.

Ray was named one of XXL‘s freshmen of the year in June, alongside the likes of Nardo Wick, Saucy Santana and fellow Motown spitter, BabyTron.

In his freestyle for the campaign, he showcases his steady flow and flexes his success. “I had to tell her ass to slow down, quit runnin’ after me / You know yo mans will get smoked down, he like a pack to me / How it feel that you the G.O.A.T. now? That’s what they askin’ me,” he raps during the acappella freestyle.

Babyface Ray Was Arrested For A Slew Of Misdemeanors After His Brand-New BMW Broke Down

Sometimes, you think you’re having a bad day and then something happens and it turns out, your bad luck was just getting started. That’s what apparently happened to Babyface Ray, according to TMZ. The Michigan rapper’s brand-new BMW reportedly broke down, blocking the road and prompting police to investigate. After they ran the rapper’s license, however, instead of providing assistance, they arrested him. Apparently, he had several outstanding warrants for various misdemeanors, including missing a child custody court appearance, improper possession of a weapon, and ironically, driving with a suspended license. He was booked into Oakland County Jail.

As for the busted Beemer, Ray gave his girlfriend permission to have it towed. Fortunately, it’s still under warranty; apparently, he’d just driven it off the lot.

It’s not all bad news, though. Ray is fresh off the release of his new album Mob — his second release of the year — and his debut television performance on The Tonight Show. The album contained the single “Spend It” and capitalized on a year in which Ray was selected as one of XXL magazine’s Freshman Class of 2022. He opened the year with the release of his album Face, and racked up an impressive collection of featured credits on projects from Future, Maxo Kream, and Nav. By this time next year, it’s possible he’ll be looking back on this arrest as just another bump in the road to superstardom.

In order to provide audiences and musicians with a once-in-a-lifetime live music experience, Red Bull has announced the highly anticipated 2022 US lineup for Red Bull SoundClash, which is returning this Fall. Two artists will push their creative boundaries to compete across elaborate opposite stages, with the audience choosing the winner of each round with crowd cheers via a decibel reader. Red Bull SoundClash 2022 will take place in three culturally significant US locations, including Gary Clark Jr. vs. Paul Wall in Houston, and Larry June vs. Babyface Ray in San Francisco and Detroit. This follows the thrilling 10-year sabbatical return last year.

The unique live setup, which draws inspiration from Jamaican sound clashing, assembles the best performers in mainstream and underground music to provide locally specific performances that pay homage to the artists’ hometowns and cultural traditions. There have been more than 80 Red Bull SoundClash concerts, including well-known performers like Snoop Dogg, Ludacris, and Erykah Badu, since the festival’s debut in the Netherlands in 2006.

Red Bull SoundClash will debut a dual-city battle in the 2022 season that honors the strong musical linkages and diverse styles of two US cities that are both rap capitals: Detroit’s surging self-made culture and the Bay’s legendary nonconformist sound. Babyface Ray of Detroit and Larry June of the Bay Area will square off against one another first in the Motor City on October 15 and then once more in The Golden City on November 3.

 “It’s always love for the D, but You know we gotta do it real big, very organic, for the City,” Larry June said of the announcement. “Numbers. Yeehee. Good job Larry! Good job Red Bull!”

Babyface Ray added, “I’m just excited to put on for the D and show the world what we all about. History in the making! It’s gonna be something special, for sure. We wanna thank Red Bull for putting us on to this.”

Both Larry June and Babyface Ray are signed to the renowned independent record label EMPIRE, which is thrilled to collaborate with Red Bull on this novel concept. The label’s founder, Ghazi, says, “EMPIRE is excited to partner with Red Bull for a super dope experience showcasing the raw talents of Larry June and Babyface Ray. They are both deeply rooted in their hometowns of San Francisco and Detroit, which are core to the DNA of their music. We can’t wait to be a part of it all.”

Red Bull Soundclash Returns With Babyface Ray, Larry June, And A New Twist

California’s Bay Area and Detroit have always been spiritually linked in hip-hop. Because of a mid-80s migration pipeline that sent frozen-toed Michiganers west for the sunnier climes provided by the Golden State coastline, the two music scenes share a lot in common. From a love of car culture to the off-kilter swing flow that has become common in both cities’ regional sounds, the Bay and Detroit have provided plenty of artists whose origins could just as easily land in one or the other — think MC Breed or any number of newer Motown rappers like Icewear Vezzo and Payroll Giovanni.

Soon, though, those two sides will find themselves embroiled in a friendly competition, courtesy of Red Bull and the Red Bull SoundClash. The fan-favorite battle event is returning this year with a traveling schedule that’ll see two rising rappers — Detroit’s Babyface Ray and San Francisco’s Larry June — face off in each other’s hometowns. They’ll each have an opposing stage and the winner will be determined by crowd reactions via a decibel reader. The cool part is, because of the Bay/Detroit connection, there might not be much of a hometown advantage for either.

In addition to those two battles, a third will take place in Houston featuring a unique cross-genre clash between modern-day blues man Gary Clark Jr. and chopped-and-screwed aficionado Paul Wall. That should be interesting in its own right, thanks to the odd blend of music styles from both Texas natives.

Nav Reveals The Features For His New Album ‘Demons Protected By Angels’

With his new album Demons Protected By Angels coming September 9, Nav has revealed the album’s features, which include Babyface Ray, Bryson Tiller, Don Toliver, and more. On Tuesday, he shared a trailer for the album on his social media that opens with stunning aerial shots of his hometown, Toronto, then incorporates some eye-popping visual effects featuring the titular angels, demons, and a solar eclipse. It then lists the features, which also include Future, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Lil Uzi Vert, RealestK, and Travis Scott.

So far, Nav has released two singles from the album. “Never Sleep” features Lil Baby and Travis Scott, while Nav flies solo on “Wrong Decisions.” Demons Protected By Angels is billed as Nav’s fourth studio album, and is preceded by 2020’s Good Intentions, which peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. Since then, he’s released a deluxe reissue of the album titled Brown Boy 2 and a mixtape completely produced by Wheezy called Emergency Tsunami. He also featured on Internet Money’s hit single “Lemonade” alongside Don Toliver and Gunna and contributed features to songs from Belly, Rowdy Rebel, and Vory.
