DaBaby Cites Lawyer’s “Life-Threatening” Disease In Request To Postpone Alleged Assault Trial

Back in 2022, DaBaby was sued by a 65-year-old man named Gary Pagar for alleged assault. A couple of years prior, Pagar had rented out his property to the rapper and his crew. Despite reportedly agreeing not to have more than 12 people in the home at a time, DaBaby proceeded to shoot a music video there, which allegedly involved more than 40.

Upon learning of the music video shoot, Pagar claims that he rushed to his property to investigate for himself. When he arrived, however, things quickly took a turn for the worse. After accusing DaBaby of falling through with his end of their rental agreement, the “SHAKE SUMN” performer allegedly chased him into the home. Pagar alleges that when DaBaby caught up to him, he punched him in the face, knocking out several of his teeth. He’s seeking unspecified damages for the injuries and property damage the rapper allegedly caused.

DaBaby was charged with felony battery over the alleged incident, and his trial has been looming ever since. It’s currently scheduled for September 3, 2024, but the Ohio-born artist has continually asked to have it pushed back. Recently, Pagar told the judge that he’s sick of waiting, requesting that the trial date remain as it is despite his pleas. DaBaby said that his team had scheduling conflicts, and his lawyer claimed to be dealing with health issues. Regardless, their motion was denied. Now, DaBaby is asking the judge to reconsider, citing his lawyer’s aforementioned medical concerns.

He says his lawyer, “who was previously diagnosed with a life-threatening and rare disease, was instructed by his medical team that his prognosis regressed, and that he must undergo sustained aggressive treatment and several surgeries that will make him physically unable to work until April 2025.” What do you think of DaBaby asking a judge to reconsider postponing his upcoming trial for alleged assault? What about him citing his lawyer’s health issues? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

ASAP Rocky Skips Status Hearing In His Assault Case With No Trial In Sight

ASAP Rocky chose to skip out on his status hearing on Wednesday (March 6), for whatever reason, and there is still no trial on the horizon for this assault case. Moreover, for those unaware, group colleague ASAP Relli accused him of shooting at him multiple times, and hitting him once, during a November 2021 confrontation in Hollywood. Now, though, it seems like this case is very much in limbo, and according to reporter Meghann Cuniff, no trial date was set during this hearing. However, the court did schedule a pre-trial hearing for May 26, so we’ll have to wait and see if someone budges before trial.

Furthermore, the last update we got on this case was ASAP Rocky’s not guilty plea and his lawyer Joe Tacopina’s assurance that they will prove his innocence. “We’re going to try the case in the courtroom,” he told reporters back in January of this year. “And when we do, facts will come out that show that he’s truly innocent. And that he’s a victim in this case.” L.A. County attorneys on the prosecution’s side had expressed to Judge Karla Kerlin that they weren’t anticipating a plea deal to sidestep a full trial.

ASAP Rocky Trial Assault Case Update Status Hearing Hip Hop News
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA – AUGUST 17: Rapper A$AP Rocky pleads not guilty to assault charges during his arraignment hearing at Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center on August 17, 2022 in Los Angeles, California. [Authorities charged] A$AP Rocky, real name Rakim Mayers with two counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm stemming from a November 2021 incident in Hollywood. He remains free on $550,000 bond and is due back in court November 2. (Photo by Irfan Khan-Pool/Getty Images)

In addition, ASAP Rocky also has a highly anticipated album to make, but his family and this legal case have definitely become a lot to handle. Authorities arrested him over this incident in 2022 with two assault charges with a semi-automatic firearm. “Discharging a gun in a public place is a serious offense that could have ended with tragic consequences not only for the person targeted but also for innocent bystanders visiting Hollywood,” L.A. County District Attorney George Gascón remarked around this time. “My office conducted a thorough review of the evidence in this case. We determined that the addition of a special firearm allegation was warranted.”

Meanwhile, after a $550,000 bond, the “Gangsta” rapper and his team hope that September will be the start of the end. “We hope to be on trial by September in this case,” his lawyer shared. “I want to get this done and over with so he can start enjoying his family and move on.” If convicted, Rakim Mayers could face up to nine years behind bars. Ja Morant’s Immunity In Assault Trial To Be Decided Next Year

A ruling as to whether Ja Morant is eligible for immunity under Tennessee’s self-defense laws is not expected any time soon, the presiding judge has warned. “Everybody was hoping for a big decision, or finality, or something like that. These are important legal issues.” Shelby County Circuit Court Judge Carol Chumney told The Commercial Appeal. According to Judge Chumney, she needs more time with the case due to the lack of precedent. While Tennessee has stringent self-defense laws, they have never been applied to a civil case like the one Morant is facing.

Morant has been sued by Joshua Holloway, who claims that Morant assaulted him when Holloway attended a pick-up game at Morant’s home. Morant has countered that he was defending himself as Holloway hit him in the face with a basketball. Furthermore, Morant’s lawyers have argued that this qualifies Morant for immunity from prosecution under state law. The ongoing trial has played out in the background as Morant made his return to the NBA this week.

Ja Morant Reflects On Suspension, Shines In Return

Morant made his 2023/24 debut earlier this week, helping seal a win for the adrift Grizzlies. Prior to the game, he had reflected on the 25-game suspension he received for flashing a gun on Instagram. Amid some wider comments, Morant said there had been some “horrible days”. However, Morant accepted that simply returning to the Grizzlies wasn’t going to be enough for a lot of people. “I can’t, you know, make nobody believe me outside of my actions. So me answering this question with just words probably won’t mean nothing to nobody,” Morant told reporters.

Morant scored 34 points in his season debut as the Grizzlies improved to 7-19 and snapped a five-game losing streak. “I feel like it was the perfect ending, perfect day,” Morant said of his game-winning buzzer-beater that sealed a massive, 24-point comeback from the Grizzlies. After the game, Morant signed his jersey and gifted it to LSU quarterback Jayden Daniels, who was sat courtside. Daniels was recently named the 2023 Heisman Winner for his monumental season leading the Tigers. However, Daniels will not play in LSU’s ReliaQuest Bowl game against Wisconsin on New Year’s Day. Instead, Daniels will skip the game to focus on preparing for the NFL Draft.

Jonathan Majors’ Attorney Speaks Out After Guilty Verdict

Jonathan Majors’ attorney, Priya Chaudhry, has spoken out following the actor’s guilty verdict in his trial regarding the assault of his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. A New York jury found him guilty of misdemeanor assault and harassment on Monday. Chaudhry says that Majors will continue to trust the legal process and “looks forward to fully clearing his name.”

She began in her statement to NBC News: “It is clear that the jury did not believe Grace Jabbari’s story of what happened in the SUV because they found that Mr. Majors did not intentionally cause any injuries to her. We are grateful for that. We are disappointed, however, that despite not believing Ms. Jabbari, the jury nevertheless found that Mr. Majors was somehow reckless while she was attacking him.”

Jonathan Majors Found Guilty In Assault Trial

Jonathan Majors has been found guilty of one misdemeanor assault and one harassment violation in his trial regarding an alleged attack on Grace Jabbari. The judge announced the jury’s verdict in court on Monday, according to reporter Meghann Cuniff. The decision comes after they heard closing arguments from both sides on Friday. The judge set his sentencing date for February 6.

In the courtroom, prosecutor Kelli Galaway argued in her closing statements that Majors, in blaming Jabbari, used a classic move out of abusers’ playbooks. “This is not a revenge plot to ruin the defendant’s life or his career,” she said. “You were asked why you are here? Because domestic violence is serious.”

During one damning part of the trial, the prosecution showed text messages Majors sent Jabbari after the incident. “I fear you have no perspective of what could happen if you go to the hospital,” he wrote. “They will ask you questions and as I don’t think you actually protect us it could lead to an investigation even if you do lie and they suspect something.” Jabbari also testified that he would threaten to kill himself when she stood up for herself. In a statement provided to CNN after the verdict came, Jabbari’s attorney, Ross Kramer, said: “Ms. Jabbari testified publicly & truthfully, even though reliving these traumatic events on the witness stand was obviously painful. Unfortunately, for every survivor like Ms. Jabbari who comes forward to hold their abuser accountable, there are many others who believe that they cannot. We hope that her actions will inspire other survivors to speak their truth and seek justice.”

Majors Is Found Guilty

Majors faces the possibility of spending one year behind bars at his sentencing. However, the New York Post reports it is more likely that he receives no jail time and instead gets probation and mandated treatment. Be on the lookout for further updates on Jonathan Majors on HotNewHipHop.

Jonathan Majors & Meagan Good Getting Closer Amid Assault Trial: Report

Jonathan Majors and Meagan Good’s relationship is reportedly growing stronger amid the former’s ongoing assault trial. Sources close to the couple told TMZ that Good is also struggling to deal with the trial. They say it was difficult for her to listen on while accuser Grace Jabbari described their abusive relationship in court.

In particular, Good is apparently most upset with the text exchanges the alleged victim continues to resurface. She feels Jabbari was manipulative and controlling with Majors. Altogether, the situation is reportedly strengthening her connection with the Creed III actor.

As for Jabbari’s testimony, she claimed that there’s another, more violent, side of Majors. “His face kind of changes when he gets into that place,” Jabbari told the jury. “He’s a big guy so you just want to step back.” Describing her mental state at the time of the relationship, she recalled: “I felt I was existing in his world. Emotionally and physically, all these ways. I didn’t feel my autonomy. I had low self-esteem, I lost weight, I felt unconfident. I felt really dependent on him. He was the only one who knew what went on. I found it hard to [see my family and friends]. I felt I was lying to them.”

Meagan Good has been by Majors’ side throughout the trial in recent weeks. The case stems from Majors’ arrest for allegedly attacking Jabbari in New York on March 25 during a cab ride. He has pleaded not guilty and instead claims the alleged victim was the aggressor in their relationship. Be on the lookout for further updates on Jonathan Majors’ assault trial on HotNewHipHop.

Jonathan Majors Surveillance Footage Appears To Show Aftermath Of Incident Between Actor And His Ex

Newly released surveillance footage appears to show the moment that Jonathan Majors reportedly assaulted his ex-girlfriend Grace Jabbari. In the video, made public by the judge in Majors’ trial this week, Majors can be seen grabbing Jabbari from behind and attempting to lift her into an SUV. However, after he fails to do so, he appears to flee on foot while Jabbari gives chase. The pursuit continues for several blocks until Majors is able to shake Jabbari, who is then consoled by a small group of onlookers.

Majors’ trial has been going on for a few weeks now. The videos were made public after the prosecution rested its case. Majors’ defense is expected to begin Wednesday. At this time, it’s unclear who the defense is calling to the stand. However, be sure to watch the full surveillance video below.

What Is The Latest In The Jonathan Majors Trial?

The prosecution has tried hard to paint Majors as a perennial abuser, something that has been previously alluded to in pre-trial materials. In 2022 text messages, Majors appeared to dissuade Jabbari from seeking medical attention for injuries he seemingly inflicted on her. Elsewhere, Jabbari played audio recordings in which Majors could be heard demanding “total compliance” from her. Overall, it painted a fairly damning picture of the actor. Furthermore, it was one consistent with much of the reporting that had come out prior to the start of the trial.

However, the driver of their car on the night of the alleged assault appeared to come to Majors’ aid. “I had a feeling the girl had hit the boy… because of the way that she was fighting, and the sounds produced. She became very angry. He was not doing anything, she was doing it,” the man testified via an interpreter. Despite this, the man also admitted that he did not directly witness anything and was only testifying based on what he had heard. We’ll have more updates as they emerge from the courtroom.

Jonathan Majors Called 911 For Alleged Victim Over Possible OD/Suicide

Jonathan Majors called 911 for assistance for his accuser, Grace Jabbari, on the day of his arrest, according to police testimony. Two NYPD officers who responded to the call took the stand on Tuesday amid the actor’s ongoing misdemeanor assault trial. They revealed Majors was concerned about a possible overdose or suicide and that they found Jabbari on the floor in Majors’ apartment when they arrived.

When she came to, Jabbari was worried whether Majors was around and asked why her ear hurt, seemingly unable to recall. While the ear injury is one of the causes of the trial, officers didn’t ask how she obtained it at the time. Jabbari did, however, tell the officers that Majors hit her in the head several times and grabbed her by the throat.

Officers also noted a small amount of blood on Majors’ comforter and that his jacket was missing a button. They had Jabbari fill out a domestic violence report. Additionally, Majors’ 911 call was played for the jury. In the audio, he says “she’s unconscious,” and describes her as “my ex-partner.” The operator instructed Majors to “keep an eye on her breathing.”

Jabbari previously testified on the stand, detailing her violent relationship with Majors. In doing so, she said she was often afraid of the Creed III actor and recalled several concerning incidents. She said: “I felt I was existing in his world. Emotionally and physically, all these ways. I didn’t feel my autonomy. I had low self-esteem, I lost weight, I felt unconfident, I felt really dependent on him. He was the only one who knew what went on. I found it hard to [see my family and friends]. Jonathan Majors’ Accuser Details Alleged Violent Relationship In Court

Jonathan Majors‘ accuser, Grace Jabbari, testified in his misdemeanor assault trial on Tuesday, alleging that he was liable to go into fits of “rage” during their time together. While she admits she originally “felt very loved and cared for, and very seen,” at the beginning of their relationship, she explained that she found herself being afraid of the Creed III actor. On the stand, she detailed several instances in 2022 when he was controlling, threw objects at her, and more.

“His face kind of changes when he gets into that place,” Jabbari told the jury. “He’s a big guy so you just want to step back.” She explained that she would calm him down and he would apologize and sometimes admittedly refer to himself as a “monster.” He would also allegedly threaten to kill himself after the outbursts.

I felt really dependent on him. He was the only one who knew what went on. I found it hard to [see my family and friends]. I felt I was lying to them.” According to Rolling Stone, Majors spent almost all of Jabbari’s testimony with his head down. Facing four misdemeanor charges of assault and harassment, he could spend upwards of a year in prison if convicted. He was first arrested for allegedly attacking Jabbari in New York on March 25 during a cab ride. The argument began when he received an intimate text from a woman, which Jabbari noticed.

Jonathan Majors arrived in court for opening statements in the trial in New York City on Monday with his girlfriend, actress Meagan Good, by his side. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges. Be on the lookout for further updates on Jonathan Majors’ assault and harassment case on HotNewHipHop.

Jonathan Majors Trial: Judge To Rule On Unsealing London Police Report

The assault trial of actor Jonathan Majors has begun in New York. Majors is accused of the misdemeanor assault and harassment of his ex-girlfriend, Grace Jabbari. Majors allegedly became physically violent with Jabbari during a night out in March. However, before the trial gets fully underway, the presiding judge will rule on the admissibility of one particular document. The prosecution entered a domestic violence report filed with The Metropolitan Police in London, England six months before Majors’ New York arrest. Before the trial begins in full, the judge will rule if that police report is unsealed and thus part of the public record.

The day before the trial start, Majors was seen in New York with his current girlfriend, actress Meagan Good. The pair, who have been dating since the summer, were spotted at Jack’s Wife Freda for lunch before taking to the streets of the city, with Majors wrapping his arm around Good. Good has appeared by Majors’ side for much of the pre-trial proceedings. Meanwhile, several other women have come forward with similar allegations of violence against Majors. Furthermore, a Rolling Stone investigation painted a picture of violence and manipulation that dated back as far as Majors’ time at Yale. The trial remains a developing story and we’ll have any updates as and when they emerge.

Majors Facing Several Career Implications

Furthermore, as Majors’ trial begins, several major consequences still hang over his head. Magazine Dreams, an upcoming drama starring Majors, will no longer be released on December 8. Speaking with CNN, Disney confirmed that the film did not currently have a release date. Searchlight Pictures, a subsidiary of Disney, acquired the distribution rights to the film after it opened to rave reviews at Sundance. Furthermore, Disney’s live-action Snow White film starring Rachel Zegler has been pushed back from March 2024 to March 2025.

Additionally, according to an extensive report from Variety, Marvel is reportedly considering what action to take over the ongoing Majors situation. At a retreat in September, studio execs discussed various backup plans if the actor is found guilty at his trial. Majors was meant to be the crux of the next era of the MCU. However, the actor’s assault charges have put that in jeopardy. While he has appeared in the most recent season of Loki, it’s likely the last time Majors will be seen in the MCU for some time. “Marvel is truly f-cked with the whole Kang angle. And they haven’t had an opportunity to rewrite until very recently [because of the WGA strike]. But I don’t see a path to how they move forward with him,” one high-ranking executive said.
