Armani White’s ‘Goated’ Performance On ‘The Tonight Show’ Proves He’s Ready To Fight For The Rap Crown

Armani White is one of rap music’s most promising new acts. Last year, the West Philadelphia native rose to the top of the charts after the release of his smash single, “Billie Eilish,” thanks to the push by TikTok users. Since then, the rapper has retained his online fan base’s attention with the release of his newest single, “Goated,” featuring Denzel Curry.

Making his debut on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, White delivered a powerful performance of the track. Although the track’s guest collaborator did not join him on the set, White’s angelic background vocalists and the live band made his absence an afterthought, if it crossed your mind at all.

White displayed his flawless breath control as he rapped each one of the song’s multilayered bars without so much as a slip, with the musicians onstage backing him up. The rapper’s performance proved that he’s been working on his craft and is much more than a viral sensation, he’s here to stay.

As he rapped, “How many times can I tell you I’m goated / Without n****s actin’ like they do not know it? / Why sir? See, every year, I’m gettin’ better as a writer / And when it comes down to the flow, I’m gettin’ nicer,” you couldn’t help but agree with him.

White may have held his excitement back during his performance, but after the video was uploaded to the show’s official YouTube channel, he jumped into the comment section to write, “I’m really proud of this one! I’ve been waiting to do Fallon for 12 years now. And I left it all out there! Thank y’all!”

The analytics on the track is still being reviewed, but it is possible that “Goated” could earn White his second RIAA-certified gold plaque.

Floyd Mayweather Trains Armani White For New Music Video

Armani White is fresh off the release of his brand new single, “GOATED.” Featuring Denzel Curry, the track finds the two claiming their dominance in the rap game.

An accompanying music video also arrives along with the song. Floyd Mayweather Jr makes an entertaining appearance, training the rapper in his TMT gym. Additionally, it appears as though the duo had a great time behind the scenes as well.

According to footage from TMZ, the pair were putting in some work in between takes on set. The “DIAMOND DALLAS.” rapper gets some lessons on footwork and punching techniques on the heavy bag. Additionally, of course, White returns the favor by showing Floyd how to do the “GOATED shoulder dance” that he’s pushing alongside the song.

The retired undefeated boxer’s appearance is a testament to the Philadelphia native’s undeniable growing popularity in the rap game.

“GOATED” serves as the first single to the 26-year-old’s forthcoming EP, which will allegedly be out later this year. His last EP comes in the form of 2021’s deeply personal, Things We Lost In The Fire.

Of course, White broke onto the scene with his viral hit song from last year, “BILLIE EILISH.” It was popular on TikTok before it even saw an official release. The track is rather short, clocking in at just over a minute and a half. However, it certainly manages to pack a heavy punch, as the Philadelphi’s native infectious energy and speedy flows take centre stage.

Denzel Curry, on the other hand, is fresh off his successful year in 2022. In March, he dropped his fifth studio album, Melt My Eyez See Your Future. The 14-track project boasts features from T-Pain, 6LACK, slowthai and more.

Armani White Reminds Fans Why He’s ‘Goated’ In His Creative New Collab With Denzel Curry

On the heels of his massive hit, “Billie Eilish,” Philly-based musician Armani White has dropped his new song, “Goated” — and he brought Denzel Curry along for the ride… AKA their collab.

“Legends on 3, 2, 1, let’s go,” kicks off the track with some creative lyricism and a hypnotic beat. Even in the opening lines, his repetition of “goated” seamlessly blends into “Please don’t go there with me.”

“Poppin down Miami Beach / Pull up like Lebron with the Heat,” White rhymes in the second verse. There are even some additional name drops for what appears to be wordplay about Rihanna, Megan Thee Stallion, and Doja Cat.

“You say you love me like you love him / You lying / You know your worth / For what it’s worth, I could buy it,” White adds on the slowed-down bridge of the song. Still, it picks right back up again as Curry enters with some serious energy. From start to finish, “Goated” is just a song that will grip listeners’ attention.

The trailer for the music video finds White posing in front of photographers as he jokingly flexes his muscles. It also teases an appearance from none other than Floyd Mayweather.

Which Artists Got Their First Gold Or Platinum Award In 2022?

2022 was an unusual year for music. Despite more records being released than ever before, there were only a handful of new hits; Billboard recorded only a dozen new No. 1 singles, while only new 23 albums reached the top of the Billboard 200. Those numbers reflected a dip from prior years, thanks to many of the songs and albums that topped the charts reigning for weeks at a time.

Meanwhile, the Recording Industry Association of America recently welcomed its “class of 2022” — the artists who earned their first Gold or Platinum certification last year. Among the 39 performers are TikTok favorites like Armani White, Bella Poarch, and GAYLE, while runaway success GloRilla stayed “F.N.F.” all the way to her own first certification. International artists also broke in a big way stateside with Afrobeats crooners Fireboy DML and Rema joining K-pop girl group TWICE in racking up the plaques.

A Gold certification denotes 500,000 units sold, while a Platinum record has sold 1,000,000 units. In the streaming era, one album sale is calculated as 1,500 on-demand audio and/or video song streams, which also counts as 10 track sales. In order for a qualifying track or album to be certified, often a label must request certification, so technically there might be one or two songs out there that qualify but were not certified.
