Chloe Bailey’s “fukumean” Gunna Cover Makes Her Akademiks’ Latest Target: “This S**t Trash”

Of the hip-hop bloggers creating content today, DJ Akademiks is perhaps best known for feuding with those he reports on. We’ve seen him take aim at various figures in the industry throughout his career. Lately, it’s been Yung Miami and Lil Baby feeling the heat. More recently, Chloe Bailey is on his mind too. The latter covered Gunna’s hit song “fukumean,” for her followers earlier this week. Now, Ak thinks she’s sliding into the YSL artist’s life since he’s out of jail and has a new album.

“You dipped on that ni**a soon as that ni**a got locked up,” the Off the Record host’s bizarre rant began. “I ain’t gon’ call you the b-word, ‘cuz I heard you down with Beyonce. I don’t want them getting mad at me,” he added. “Man, as soon as she thought Gunna was not coming back home, she was single. Single as a motherf**ker. I watched her in some s**t called ‘Swarm,’ getting her BACK BLOWN OUT,” Akademiks continued, referencing Bailey’s first-ever intimate scene opposite Damson Idris in Donald Glover’s series.

Akademiks Thinks Chloe Bailey is Wrong for Covering a Gunna Song

“Why wasn’t you on the jail call singing this s**t to that ni**a?” Akademiks asked, despite “fukumean” not being out. “Y’all remember when Gunna was looking like a crackhead in jail?” he continued to yell while pulling up old photos of the embattled lyricist. Elsewhere, Ak went on to accuse Bailey of always singing other people’s songs before falsely claiming her debut album only sold 3,000 units in its first week. He also said that he doesn’t understand the hype about Chloe, but couldn’t help but admit she is an attractive young woman.

Her In Pieces album’s first-week sales may not have satisfied Akademiks, but they’re good enough for the Atlanta-born singer to take her debut solo project out on two separate tours. She wrapped up the first round of dates back in the spring, and a few weeks ago, Chloe Bailey confirmed her second round of In Pieces concerts, taking place across North America this fall. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Tory Lanez Legal Team Pushing for Probation, Says Shooting Was Result of Alcoholism

Tory Lanez Music Streams Decline 40% After Being Called Out By Megan Thee Stallion

Tory Lanez‘s legal team continues to push for reduced sentencing. Instead of time in jail, Lanez is seeking probation and a drug treatment program.

Providing updates on the court case is Law&Crime reporter Meghann Cuniff who states Lanez’s attorneys, Jose Baez and Ed Welbourn, filed a 41-page memo detailing reasons for the shooting. The two-state Lanez was battling alcoholism and included a report from a psychologist in jail citing a traumatic childhood in aiding the condition. Of that childhood was his mother passing at age 11 and living in a “crack infested” neighborhood.

The report also states after Lanez became successful, he leaned on alcohol and weed to deal with his past. The team also pointed toward Lanez’s community service as a reason.

Sentencing for Lanez comes this Monday, Aug. 7, at 10:30 a.m.

DJ Akademiks still isn’t convinced that Tory Lanez shot Megan Thee Stallion. Sitting with Vlad TV, Ak revealed that he understands the verdict but still has questions.

“I thought he didn’t do it,” Akademiks said. “I’m a little doubtful, but the verdict is the verdict. I think the people who were reporting at court at that time were biased based on what they already though.”

As pieces of Tory Lanez’s court documents continue to emerge, a memorandum notes Lanez and DaBaby attempted to “rush the stage” during Megan Thee Stallion’s Rolling Loud performance in 2021.

That was the same year, DaBaby revealed Tory Lanez was inside a costume on stage with DaBaby. Megan performed before DaBaby, and once the “Suge” rapper hit the stage, he brought out Tory Lanez. Following that moment, he would go on to perform one of his biggest hits with Thee Stallion, “Cash Shit.”

The legal docs state, “It was also brought to the victim’s attention that the defendant and [DaBaby] attempted to rush the stage during her performance.” Thee Stallion didn’t consent to Lanez being present.

Tory Lanez’s sentencing has been pushed to early August. The adjustment comes as Lanez’s team requested a continuance. LA County court journalist Meghann Cuniff revealed the new sentencing date would be Aug. 7.

Lil Durk Says Kanye West Produced “Almost Healed” But He Won’t Release It

Lil Durk’s coming through with new heat just before we enter the summer months. He released “All My Life” ft. J. Cole earlier this month before confirming that Almost Healed would drop on Friday, May 26th, 2023. Then, he slid through with the tracklist that boasted an array of producers including Wheezy, Metro Boomin, Zaytoven, Dr. Luke, and more, and features from stars like Alicia Keys and Future. However, this tracklist may have been a second rendition of the tracklist with the first largely consisting of production from Kanye West.

During an interview with DJ Akademiks, Durk opened up about his standings with Kanye West in recent times. Durk explained that he had a conversation where Kanye detailed “wanting to bring the peace back” to Chicago following his collaboration with Rooga. However, Lil Durk explained it was far more complex than Ye perceived it to be. “When sh*t happen behind certain sh*t, it’s not that easy for what you think. You know, I still talk to him,” he explained.

Kanye Produced Lil Durk’s “Almost Healed” First

Afterward, Lil Durk revealed that Kanye West began producing his album in its entirety. “He actually produced by whole album,” Durk revealed. “But I ain’t use it.” The rapper explained that Ye added his magical touch, tweaking with beats and adding vocals. “He played with a couple of records, let me say that,” he said before informing Akademiks that they wouldn’t appear on the tracklist. “He did some genius shit,” Durk added. “I think I’m going to see if I could come back with some genius shit with him, double my sales.”

Although Kanye’s version of Almost Healed likely won’t be released soon, Durk did provide a promising update on the Yeezy founder. “I went to the hotel where he was at. He’s actually in a good head space,” he said. “I guess the bullshit that was going on with him was getting to him but he’s definitely in a good headspace. For now, we could anticipate Lil Durk’s upcoming album tonight. Check out the snippet from his interview with Akademiks above. We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates surrounding Almost Healed.

Lil Durk Reveals The Surprisingly Emotional Reason He Hates Snitches

Lil Durk has been on a winning streak recently. From his music to his contributions to his community, the rapper has been on an upward climb. His latest release, “All My Life,” is a single featuring J. Cole. Lyrically, it is about Lil Durk changing the way the public views him. That has certainly been happening for the rapper as he has made significant strides to help his community and himself. He has been very vocal recently about his focus on mental health. The rapper has also had several meetings with the new Chicago mayor about how to improve the lives of the city’s children. He even attending the mayor’s swearing-in ceremony. Additionally, Lil Durk seems to have risen above any supposed competition musically.

Lil Durk and NBA YoungBoy have had a pretty public beef recently, but it seems like the numbers speak for themselves. Durk’s single was released on the same day as YoungBoy’s newest mixtape, Richest Opp. The Chicago rapper was meant to release his entire album on the same day, as well, but he decided to delay it. YoundBoy expressed his frustration towards Durk for delaying the release of Almost Healed. However, it seems that the voice has achieved more success with his May 12 release than YoungBoy. According to Spotify, the 17 tracks on Richest Opp have accumulated a total of 15 million streams. Furthermore, only four songs from the mixtape have surpassed 1 million streams. In contrast, “All My Life” alone has amassed 21 million streams. Both projects are yet to make their chart debuts. However, “All My Life” is projected to debut at #2 on the Billboard 100.

Lil Durk Says A Snitch Took Away “Half Of His Life”

Lil Durk has been making strides to improve his mental health and strengthen his community. However, that doesn’t mean the Chicago rapper likes snitches. In a new interview that was posted on Akademiks Instagram page, he makes his position very clear. “I hate all rats. If you ever told, if you ever tell, I hate you. Like, with a passion,” Lil Durk said. “That made me who I am today. That took away half of my life. Motherf*cker telling on my pops… so I was raised by a woman… my momma. So I really hate rats with a real passion. Like, I hate you. Bad. I’m looking to the camera. I hate f*cking rats.”

Instagram users took to the comment section on the post to let their feelings on the matter be known. Some agreed with Lil Durk, while others pointed out that the “rat” can’t be blamed for crimes that his father committed. “He should be mad his dad was involved in that gang shit,” one commenter said. Another chimed in to agree, stating, “Father should have made better choices.” What do you think of Lil Durk’s comments on snitches? Do you agree or do you think the blame should be on his father for committing crimes? Let us know in the comments below!

Lil Durk & NBA Youngboy Squash Beef, DJ Akademiks Says

It looks like it’s water under the bridge between Lil Durk and NBA Youngboy. For years, the two have been involved in a vicious feud with one another that bled from the streets to the music industry. But, according to DJ Akademiks, the two rappers have settled their differences. During a live stream, Ak nonchalantly revealed that Lil Durk and NBA Youngboy put their issues aside. “Nah, that beef is squashed. You ain’t hear?” Akademiks said. “Oh, I might have forgot to tell the public that: Durk and them don’t have beef no more.”

Akademiks’s insight into internal feuds within the music industry is better than most. Although the tension between OTF and NBA has been at a high since King Von’s murder, it looks like Durk confirmed that the beef is over. As the clip circulated online, Durk quietly liked a post from @YBUpdate announcing the end to their issues. He didn’t make any public statement, nor did NBA Youngboy, but hopefully, this means they move past their issues and continue to focus on their respective careers. Will they collaborate in the future? Probably not but at least they won’t be taking shots at each other.

Lil Durk & NBA Youngboy Put Their Differences Aside

It couldn’t come at a better time for Lil Durk, who is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming album. Over the weekend, he revealed that he and J. Cole filmed the music video for their unreleased collab before previewing the song on his Instagram page. Durk, specifically, has made clear efforts toward elevating himself both professionally and personally. His apparent decision to end his long-standing beef with YB indicates that he’s taking this commitment seriously.

At this point, NBA Youngboy hasn’t confirmed whether the rumors are true. YB is fresh off of the release of Don’t Try This At Home, his second album under Motown Records. The project further cemented the Lousiana rapper as a commercial giant. Most recently, he put up his 100th entry on the Billboard Hot 100, making him the youngest artist to ever accomplish this feat. Check out Akademiks’ comments above and let us know what you think in the comments below.

DJ Akademiks Poses With Donald Trump At UFC 287

DJ Akademiks posed for a photo with Donald Trump at UFC 287, over the weekend. He shared the picture on Instagram, joking that he’ll be the former president’s running mate in 2024. The vocal Trump supporter, Jorge Masvidal, took on Gilbert Burns at the event. “Greatest president in the history of the world, I love that guy,” Masvidal said while inside the ring. He also prasied Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Kevin Holland walked over to speak with the former president from inside the ring after beating Santiago Ponzinibbio. Israel Adesanya later took on Alex Pereira.

“Might have to take up Uncle Trump on his offer of being His Vice President 2024,” Akademiks wrote. “Bruh told me ‘no way you’d be worse than Kamala.’” Fans had plenty of jokes in response to the post. One commented, “Trump about to repost this as My African American friend Akademiks.” Another wrote, “Big Ak tryna save on taxes.”

Trump sat in the front row at the event along with Kid Rock, Mike Tyson, and Dana White. His eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was also in attendance. The appearance comes as Trump faces 34 felony charges of falsifying business records regarding payments made to Stormy Daniels. He was arraigned in New York City, last week, making him the first former president to be charged with a crime. He flew back to Mar-a-Lago afterward and spoke about the incident in a speech to his supporters.

“The only crime that I’ve committed is to fearlessly defend our nation from those who seek to destroy it,” he said at the time. “The criminal is the district attorney because he illegally leaked massive amounts of grand jury information, for which he should be prosecuted — or at a minimum, he should resign.” Trump is currently running for the GOP bid to be president again in 2024. His biggest Republican opponent is Ron DeSantis.

Blueface Claps Back At Akademiks Over Boxing Comments

Blueface is one of the more prominent figures in internet hip-hop culture right now. Overall, a lot of this has to do with his relationship with Chrisean Rock. Rock is currently pregnant, and this has actually led to a war of words between the two. Although Blueface doesn’t want to have the child, Chrisean wants to keep it. Subsequently, this has led to quite a few headlines that aren’t exactly flattering. Moreover, it has birthed a beef between the likes of DJ Akademiks, and the “Thotiana” rapper.

Throughout this feud, Blueface has suggested that he and Ak get into the ring. On numerous occasions, Akademiks has denied the request. Yesterday, Ak offered one final word on the situation when he replied to Blueface claiming that his first fight netted him $180K. “Lmao no way….. I see why u tryna get in the ring wit me. Boy I wouldn’t even look at the ring for less than $3 mil,” Ak wrote. “Lemme leave BLUEFACE alone lol he been kickin knowledge lowkey. I finally just gave up and accepted him for a reality star.”

Blueface Responds

Despite Akademiks’ insistence on letting bygones be bygones, Blueface has decided to respond. In the tweet above, you can see that the rapper was not very complimentary of Ak. Instead, he told him that everyone already knew that he wasn’t man enough to get in the ring. “Ak you do live stream on twitch in a basement for a living bro nobody cares to see you box gang we already gave up on that fairytale your thinking to highly of yourself,” Blueface wrote. While this may be seen as a cheap shot, it isn’t surprising given the nature of this beef.

At this point, it seems like Akademiks just wants this saga to be over. However, with Blueface being hypersensitive to the discussion surrounding him, we could see more responses such as this one. As for a boxing match, we all know that won’t happen. Let us know what you think of this situation, in the comments down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news from around the music world.

6ix9ine Teases New Music

After returning to Cuba this week, 6ix9ine seems to be teasing new music and could potentially drop something soon. Moreover, DJ Akademiks shared a video of the rapper seemingly in a Cuban town, surrounded by presumably locals and draped with the Cuban flag (the rapper, real name Daniel Hernandez, is of Mexican and Puerto Rican descent). In the clip, he seems to be recording a music video or promo visual of sorts, as a new song plays and you can see a cameraperson film him upfront. Not only that, but this sounds like a different style to what he typically brings to the table, although not a wholly unique one for him.

Furthermore, it’s a Spanish-language cut that is much more somber, melodic, and dramatic than his usual musical fare. As such, many fans are wondering what could be next for the rapper, especially after his viral beatdown in an LA fitness bathroom in Florida. That saw the rainbow-haired MC get the most media attention in a long time, something that many believe he tries to feed off of with his public statements and music. With that in mind, many suspect that he’ll take advantage of the news to release new songs and projects, which he hasn’t done in a while.

New Music Might Be On The Way From 6ix9ine

All that being said, Hernandez has more controversies around him at the moment that could prove dangerous. In fact, they have to do a lot with Cuba, where he visited earlier this year. A lot of viral conversation ensued because of him seemingly throwing money from his apartment to huge crowds of local citizens. In addition, clips surfaced of massive conglomerations following him around the streets. Responding to this, the Cuban government temporarily shut down Internet access in the region, which itself drew much controversy. Still, many agreed that, if true, his seemingly helpful actions painted the nation in a poor light for the sake of views.

Despite these controversies, Tekashi seems committed to focusing on his private life and not letting media get in the way. Of course, he’ll take advantage of it when he can, but he won’t let it change his movement and how he decides to live. Many raised eyebrows at his decision to not bolster security after the attack on him, and it seems he’s willing to live with those choices. Regardless, check out the teased song above and return to HNHH for the latest news and updates on 6ix9ine.

Akademiks Snaps After Metro Boomin “Politely” Asks Ak To Stop Posting Him

Akademiks added Metro Boomin to his tallying list of enemies in hip-hop. We’ve seen him go toe-to-toe in social media warfare against Freddie Gibbs and Ebro. Meanwhile, figures like Lil Baby have remained targets on his list. Most recently, he and Blueface have been going back and forth on the ‘Gram. The two proposed to take it to a boxing ring, though Akademiks said that he needs six to seven months to prepare. In response, Blueface predicted that Akademiks will fall off within the same window of time.

Last night, Akademiks shared a screenshot of one of Metro’s tweets that included lyrics from Kendrick Lamar’s “Rich Spirit.” The tweet appeared to be a subtle response to Hit-Boy’s call out from his collab with The Alchemist, “Slipping Into Darkness.” Metro slipped into the comment section of Akademiks’ post to ask one final time if he could refrain from posting anything about him on his Instagram page. “Hey I’m politely asking 1 more time that you please not post me or anything to do with me on this page. Thanks! [handshake emoji],” he wrote under Akademiks post.

Akademiks Lashes Out At Metro Boomin

After reposting the comment to his Instagram page, despite Metro’s kind request, Akademiks unleashed fury. “@metroboomin respectfully my answer to ur request is F*CK No. get the f*ck off my page .. I don’t post for u. Nor do I care what u think bout what I posted bout u,” he captioned the post. Afterward, he unleashed a number of posts, which have since been deleted, where he said Metro had a No Jumper interview pulled from their channel.

During his Twitch stream, Akademiks said he wasn’t going to let “no b*tch a*s producer from no Atlanta who was crying a couple months ago about 20 different things tell me what and what I can’t post.” The media personality went on to call Metro a “sensitive little b*tch” and a “moist ass eyes n***a” who is “too sensitive.” “You must’ve been gassed up with that If Young Metro don’t trust you, I’m gon’ shoot you. You ain’t gonna do shit and neither will Future,” he added.  Check out Akademiks’ tirade above.
