Adidas and Women's Basketball League Overtime Select Unveils Teams and Custom Uniforms for Inaugural Season

Overtime Select, gearing up for its inaugural season starting in August, has unveiled its eight teams and their custom uniforms, created in collaboration with adidas and the young athletes themselves. The league had previously announced the team captains, who played a significant role in designing their teams’ identities and uniforms.

“This is a truly unprecedented and long-overdue moment in women’s basketball, and we couldn’t be prouder to partner with Overtime Select and its elite roster of next generation athletes as the league kicks off this summer,” said Anthony Abernathy, adidas Sr. Director Brand Communications – Originals & Basketball. “Our partnership with Overtime and our work with its leagues is a reflection of our broader commitment to engaging with and empowering athletes at the grassroots level, as we collectively push the boundaries of what’s possible in sport.”

“Being chosen to be an OT Select Captain is an amazing honor, and I’m looking forward to the opportunity to be a part of this history-making moment with all my peers,” said Hailee Swain, OT Select Captain and Stanford commit. “Seeing my jersey in person that I got to help design throughout the process finally made everything seem more real – I can’t wait to start playing.”

The YGE team, captained by Jezelle “GG” Banks (Class of ’27), features a custom camo patterned uniform with light pink accents, making them both stealthy and striking. The Venom Tears, led by Aaliyah Chavez (#1 recruit, Class of ’25), sport blood-red snakeskin patterned uniforms with bright orange details, exuding danger.

The All Knighters, captained by Jazzy Davidson (#2 recruit, Class of ’25), showcase a steel gold color palette with a gradient chain link armor pattern, symbolizing strength and hustle. Royal Reign, under the leadership of Jenica Lewis (#23 recruit, Class of ’26), wears uniforms featuring a crown logo and water drop pattern on a rich lavender purple background, embodying royal elegance.

Double Dynasty, co-captained by Mia Pauldo (#7 recruit, Class of ’25) and Mya Pauldo (#44 recruit, Class of ’25), is known for doubling up the score and style, with uniforms dripping with flair. RWE, led by Jerzy Robinson (#1 recruit, Class of ’26), has a sunburst of color gradients, reflecting their wild energy.

ISO WRLD, captained by Kaleena Smith (Class of ’27), features vibrant green uniforms with blue flames, making them unstoppable. Drifty Dreamerz, led by Hailee Swain (#13 recruit, Class of ’25), showcases star galaxy patterned uniforms with soft pink and bright blue hues, perfect for dreamers.

OT Select, an eight-team league, showcases top 15-18-year-old women basketball players in the country, aiming to empower them as leaders. The league provides tools and resources to build their personal brands, preparing them for college through workshops and an NIL summit.

OT Select gameplay kicks off on August 3-4 in Atlanta at OTE Arena.

Cam’ron Trolled Anthony Edwards In A Freestyle After Being Shaded In His Adidas Commercial

Cam’ron and Mase’s It Is What It Is podcast has taken its fair share of shots at various athletes over the years, particularly NBA players like Jordan Poole and now, Anthony Edwards. Cam’ron targeted the latter with a few lines in a freestyle over the beat from Black Rob’s hit single “Whoa!” to open the latest episode.

Decked out in a Dallas Mavericks jersey (heh), Cam goes in on the 22-year-old NBA star, rapping, “Go ‘head and grandstand, no style can cramp Cam’s / P**** on a handstand, but f*ck wrong with Ant Man? / Gave him his props, homie got love from me / New commercial, y’all ain’t got love for me? / He shot a jump shot and said, ‘f*ck buddy’ / The receipt reader lookin’ like your f*ck buddy.”

So, what’s got Cam’s knickers in a twist? It seems Ant’s Adidas ad rubbed him the wrong way with its use of one of Cam’s tweets to make a point about Ant proving his haters wrong. The ad includes a printer for Edwards’ “receipts,” which spits out tweets from various celebrities questioning whether the young Minnesota Timberwolves guard is ready to be “the face of the league.”

The tweets are read to Ant by a friend as he takes practice shots, and when he hears that Cam’ron says he’s “an All-Star, but not a superstar yet,” Ant indeed gives a dismissive response and chucks another jumper. The ad’s being celebrated for its simplicity and directness, but clearly, not everybody appreciates Ant’s unfiltered demeanor.

Anyone who’s spent any time around hoopers knows that many of them — especially the best — are crazy petty and take anything less than unadulterated adulation as the saltiest criticism, so his response isn’t exactly surprising. But for the past 25 years, Cam’ron has been an equally petty performer in his own industry, so his response shouldn’t surprise anyone either.

But before anyone goes taking this super serious and demanding guns drawn at dawn, try to remember: it’s all in good fun. Talking sh*t is part of these guys’ livelihoods, so they both know there’s no ill intent. And if/when they see each other at the next All-Star Game, it’ll probably be all love.

You can watch Cam’s freestyle (and his explanation for the clap back) at the top of the episode above.

Kanye West’s Infamous “F*ck Adidas” MBDTF Vinyl Hits Auction Block And The Asking Price Is Out Of This World

Kanye West has made some iconic albums during this time as an artist. Overall, one could make the argument that he has the most classic records out of any artist in hip-hop. Moreover, if you expand outside of the genre, you will be hard-pressed to find any artist with as many classics as him. One of those classics is the 2010 masterpiece My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, which many believe to be his best record. Others look to his original trilogy, while some even believe that Yeezus is his best work.

If you remember, back in February, a fan had him sign a vinyl version of MBDTF. As you can see in the video clip below, he wrote “F*ck Adidas” on it. The vinyl record is now being placed on the auction block through Moments in Time. Of course, there is a bit of a catch here. According to TMZ, the vinyl will be sold for over $500K. They won’t accept any bids below that, which means anyone who wants this piece is going to have to shell out a whole lot of money.

Ye always seems to attract some large investors, and with memorabilia prices soaring in all domains, this could prove to be a lucrative deal. Travis Scott Sides With Ye In Yeezy Battle With Adidas

Ye, formerly Kanye West, has had a turbulent few years by almost any measure. One of the ways it’s affected him is through his fashion brand Yeezy, which used to be partnered with Adidas. During his run of making numerous antisemitic comments, Adidas followed suit with many other brands and cut ties with the rapper. But that was hardly the end for the connection between the athletic wear brand and the controversial rapper.

Last year, Adidas decided to move forward with selling the bulk of their remaining Yeezy inventory after having removed it from their stores when they cut ties with Ye. But eventually, that turned into the brand selling color variants that weren’t originally designed by the rapper. Usurpingly, it caught his attention and sparked a major beef between the two parties. As the “Carnival” rapper was releasing new products under the Yeezy name and dropping a DIY Super Bowl ad, he was also stirring up hate against Adidas. Now one of his collaborators, Travis Scott, has spoken out about the two sides. Unsurprisingly he seems to have his fellow rappers back in the conflict. Check out what he had to say below.

Travis Scott Won’t Sign New Yeezys

According to HipHopDX, Scott was at the University Of Texas promoting a new fashion collab of his own when he made some comments about the Ye and Adidas situation. In a video making the rounds online, someone tries to get him to sign a pair of the new Yeezys, but he refuses. “We not signing no Yeezys unless they made by Ye,” he says in the clip.

Travis Scott is still getting mileage out of his new album UTOPIA from last year. He performed on Satirday Night Live last month and in tandem with his appearance released a new music video for “FEIN!” What do you think of Travis Scott refusing to sign a new pair of Yeezy’s not designed by Ye? Do you think Adidas should stop making new designs and color variants? Let us know in the comment section below.

Adidas CEO Considered Hiding From Kanye West During Airport Encounter

Adidas CEO Bjorn Gulden has explained the viral photo of himself speaking with Kanye West at an airport in Las Vegas following the Super Bowl. Speaking at a press conference at the company’s headquarters, Gulden joked that he considered hiding from Ye to avoid bad press, but decided against it. Regardless, the relationship between the two sides is not being mended anytime soon.

“It was not a meeting, there was no business discussion,” he said of the run-in. From there, he joked: “If you meet him at an airport, I don’t know what you do. Do you hide? Or what do you do?” Gulden also reiterated: “The contract has ended. We are selling off the inventory.”

Kanye and Adidas have been at odds for years since their partnership. The company cut ties with Ye officially following his antisemitic comments in 2022. More recently, West called out the company for continuing to sell its stock of the Yeezy Boost 350. “Anybody who loves Ye would not buy these fake Yeezys,” he wrote on Instagram. “I never made these color ways I’m not getting paid off of them and adidas is suing me. All these celebrities and the public will stand against a T shirt or the color of my hat but when yall see me have my children hidden from me or see an actual Fortune 500 company r*pe one of your heroes in real life don’t nobody say nothing or do nothing. As far as the system goes What yall gone do now Take my album down again Freeze my accounts again Threaten people to not work with me again. All the new non approved 350’s are cooorny and everybody know the 350 been corny.”

Kanye West Debacle Leads To Adidas’ First Annual Loss In Decades

Kanye West and his Yeezy brand have been having a renaissance as of late. Overall, he is selling his products for just $20, and fans have been scooping up as much merch as possible. However, it has been a long rebuild for Ye, who was dropped by Adidas in the Fall of 2022. After all, he was begging to be let go by the brand. He was unhappy with the way he was being treated, and he was hopeful that his contract would be terminated. Meanwhile, he kept spewing anti-semitic talking points which made him a liability to Adidas’ image.

Unfortunately for Adidas, letting Ye walk has come with a plethora of negative affects on their business. For instance, the brand has been posting sales losses every single quarter of 2023. In fact, the brand was forced to sell off close to $1 billion of leftover Yeezy products, just to get by. According to CNN, their latest numbers are pretty devastating. In 2023, the brand finished the year with a $63 million annual net loss. This is their first net loss in decades, and the Yeezy partnership’s demise is a huge catalyst.

Adidas is also blaming a large tax bill and poor North American sales for their issues. The brand has struggled in America compared to the rest of the world, and with U.S. inflation on the rise, things have continued to worsen. However, it is expected that things will stabilize for Adidas, moving forward. Only time will tell if they can truly recover.

Kanye West Declares ‘F*ck Drake,’ ‘F*ck Adidas,’ And ‘F*ck’ Some Others As ‘Carnival’ Hits No. 1 On The Hot 100

Yesterday (March 11) was a big day for Kanye West: It was revealed that his and Ty Dolla Sign’s Vultures 1 single “Carnival” is No. 1 on the latest Billboard Hot 100 chart. This makes the song Ye’s first No. 1 hit in 13 years, since his and Katy Perry’s 2011 collaboration “ET.” The achievement has West feeling some kind of way, and that way is vengeful.

In celebration of the feat, West shared his thoughts on Instagram, in which he goes after some of his opponents. He wrote:

“Rich Ty Carti and the supporters that stood by us through everything This number #1 is for you it’s for the people who won’t be manipulated by the system and f*ck adidas and everybody who works there or with them Anyone who goes to school with anyone who’s parents work at adidas Just know they tried to destroy me and here we are with the number 1 song in the world Like the fake dude I saw in the lobby at the Ritz that works at Goat You p*ssys don’t stand for sh*t And f*ck everybody at the Dailey Mail And F*ck everybody at the fashion houses that sided with Gabby and Hailey Bieber F*ck each and every single one of all And f*ck every Christian that watched me have my kids taken out of my control That’s how I feel And it’s f*ck Drake for taking Durk right at the beginning of the Vultures role out I’ll come back to yall if I think of more f*ck you’s.”

As Complex notes, the post has since been edited to read simply, “No caption.”

Ty Dolla Sign is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Report: Touring Giants Live Nation and AEG Decline Kanye West for a Tour

Kanye West George Floyd

Kanye West hoped to take his Vultures album with Ty Dolla $ign on the road. Unfortunately for him, Live Nation and AEG won’t assist.

According to Hits Daily Double, insiders state neither touring company will move forward with requests on a Ye tour that is being pitched by his agent Cara Lewis. The decision comes despite Ye moving over 10,000 tickets for his events, like the one in Chicago.

It is noted that Chicago companies Jam Productions and SPKRBX collaborated on the United Center booking days before the release.

Ye and Ty Dolla $ign are being sued by the Donna Summer estate for using the icon’s “I Feel Love” in the creation of “Good (Don’t Die).”

The suit is led by Summer’s husband, Bruce Sandano, stating the interpolation was not approved due to Ye’s “controversial history.”

Ye submitted a request for clearance, but it was denied on Feb. 3, 2024, in both written and phone communications. The song was submitted for clearance at Universal Music Enterprises as an alternative but was once again denied.

The estate is now seeking damages of $150,000 for each infringement.

Earlier this week, after Adidas announced a new stock drop of Yeezy sneakers at the end of the month, Kanye hit the net with a message stating he was sued.

“Not only are they putting out fake colorways that are not approved, they are suing me for $250 million,” Ye said. “And they also not paying me for these shoes they are putting out that has my name on it.

“They are using contract clauses and 50 years of business experience to rape an artist – one of y’all favorite artists – right in front of y’all in broad daylight.”
