Jacquees Croons Through”Tell Me It’s Over Ft. Summer Walker & 6LACK

This week, Jacquees ends his hiatus by releasing his new album, Sincerely For You. The last time we received a project from the R&B singer was in 2019, so his fans have been patiently waiting for new jams to add to their playlists. The album is executive produced by Future, who also adds his name to the list of features. Other artists include 21 Savage, John P. Kee, Tory Lanez, Dreezy, Summer Walker, and 6LACK.

The latter two lend their voices to “Tell Me It’s Over,” a song where Jacquees gets honest about a relationship that turned sour. The song is about staying with someone even after both parties have hurt the other and not having the strength to end things.

In our upcoming interview with Jacquees for our 12 Days of Christmas series, the singer spoke about Sincerely For You and what fans can expect.

“It’s all grown-man vibes. I’m 28 years old now,” he told HNHH exclusively. “So, the conversations are just different for everything, for me. Even the lifestyle.”

“You know, you get older, you know, you stop doing a lot of the things that you was doing before,” he continued. “I feel like that’s kind of how I did it with my lifestyle and my music. And I believe that through records, you’ll be able to tell the growth into maturity.”

Quotable Lyrics

I know I f*cked up, you caught me lyin’ too many times before
Took me back, I did it more
I was convinced, you was gettin’ naked and hit
By another n*gga, yeah, I was sick
I’m a player but I gotta admit
Yeah, you hurt me, but I know it ain’t as bad as I hurt you

Kaash Paige And 6lack Reminisce On Past Friendships In Their Astronomical ‘Miss My Dawgs’ Video

Kaash Paige and 6lack have dropped the video for their new collaboration, “Miss My Dawgs.

In the video, directed by Marmo Films, Paige is seen navigating a spacecraft solo. As she walks about the ship, she reminisces on past friendships, however, she knows better than to rekindle them.

6lack is seen on a different planet, finding comfort in his solitude, before he is joined by Paige. Then, the two embrace, knowing that they can trust in each other. Paige and 6lack then hop in the spacecraft and set off to the next destination.

Paige’s second album, The Fall Off, arrives this fall via Def Jam. She detailed The Fall Off in a recent interview with Billboard, Paige detailed the album, noting that it will include pop records, as well as the type of music she’s been wanting to create.

‘The vibe is just kind of just like … when you haven’t dropped your own art in two years, you hear a lot of comments like, “She fell off” or “What’s she doing?” “When’s she dropping music?” And it’s just like… I didn’t fall off,” Paige said. “I just had to get myself ready for what God had prepared for me. I feel as if people don’t allow artists to take the time out to get to know themselves, to get to know the people around them, or to understand what they actually want to do and what kind of sound they want to make.”

Kaash Paige And 6lack Refuse To Look Back On Their New Song, ‘Miss My Dawgs’

Kaash Paige and 6lack have reunited, but their musical chemistry on their latest collab creates a feeling of distance. On their latest, “Miss My Dawgs,” the two long to reconnect with people from their individual pasts, however, for their own well-being, they choose not to.

Paige opens the song, with her signature soft, sweet vocals, singing, “Switching sides on me / Thought you were the homie / But I’d rather be, I’d rather be lonely.” She laments this loss briefly, before she takes “a shot for [her] real team.”

6lack hops in with the second verse, reflecting on how he’s cut certain people out of his life.

“They can’t fit the picture, so I cut them out the frame,” he sings without any regret.

“’Miss My Dawgs’ is just about missing family members, or missing long-lost friends that you know you can’t hang out with anymore,” said Paige in a statement, “but it can go for anything. I remember sitting on my homie’s balcony in Miami, drinking shroom tea and I came up with the idea and just kept singing it and was like ‘Man I gotta make this song tomorrow.’ I went to the studio recorded it, left a verse open, and sent it straight to 6lack.”

Calvin Harris Announces The ‘Funk Wav Bounces Vol 2’ Release Date And Features

Calvin Harris’ first Funk Wav Bounces album, which was released in June 2017, has become something of a cult favorite among dance music fans, who’ve agitated for a follow-up ever since. Harris recently began the rollout for Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2, dropping its first single, “Potion” featuring Dua Lipa and Young Thug, in May. Today, he finally shared the project’s long-awaited release date: August 5. He also teased the guestlist via a short video of waves crashing on a sunny shore with the names flashing across the screen.

Those names include 21 Savage, 6lack, Charlie Puth, Chloe, Halsey, Jorja Smith, Justin Timberlake, Latto, Lil Durk, Normani, Offset, Pharrell, Pusha T, Shenseea, Snoop Dogg, Stefflon Don, and Tinashe.

Ironically, there couldn’t be a better time for Harris to return with Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2, as a new wave of dance music — particularly dance music crafted by some of the world’s biggest entertainers — appears to be cresting. Just weeks ago, Drake surprise-dropped his club-influenced new album, Honestly, Nevermind, prompting a renewed interest and discussion of Black musicians in the art form, then Beyonce followed up with her new single “Break My Soul,” which even had national news programs looking up vocal house legend Robin S. to get her take on the out-of-nowhere revival of Black house music.

You can pre-save Funk Wav Bounces Vol. 2, out 8/5 via Columbia Records, here

6LACK Covers Mos Def’s ‘Umi Says’ As Part Of Apple Music’s 2022 Freedom Songs

6lack holds nothing back in his music or real life, especially when speaking on the plight of Black people in this country. For Apple Music’s Freedom Songs 2022 celebrating Juneteenth through covers and original music, the East Atlanta Love Letter artist covered Mos Def’s powerful 1999 record “Umi Says.” The low tempo beat loaded with instruments is right in 6lack’s pocket as he used his signature croak to speak about what he wants to see for his people. Though the fight extends well beyond music, he deems it important to use his platform for causes such as these.

Though 6lack has maintained his presence through a number of features over the years, listeners haven’t received a project since 2020’s 6 Pc Hot, let alone a full album since 2018’s East Atlanta Love Letter. The 29-year-old has been alluding to the third chapter of his career for quite some time, and gave fans a taste back in December with the 1-2 punch of “Rent Free” and “By Any Means.” His management team Love Renaissance always has a master plan prepared, and the addition of OVO’s dvsn just makes their next move with 6lack all the more intriguing. Until then, he will surely provide more to hold listeners over.

Eli Derby And 6lack Question Their Partner’s Commitment In The Weary Video For ‘Lately’

Towards the end of 2020, Eli Derby made his debut as one of LVRN’s newest signees with an appearance on the label’s Home For The Holidays Christmas album. The young singer was a stand out on the project thanks to his rendition of “This Christmas” with Summer Walker. Derby would go on to release a few singles in 2021 before unveiling his debut project, Left On Read. The project arrived with five songs and a feature from labelmate 6lack who stands beside him for the duo’s new video for “Lately.”

The duo’s slow-burning single sees them share their grievances about their respective lovers who seem to be entertaining other people outside of their relationship. In the video, Derby and 6lack sing about their concerns while showcasing intimate moments with their partner. On Derby’s side of things, he depicts his lover laying with another man as she ignores a phone call from him.

Derby’s Left On Read project is also highlighted by “Skyfall” and “Go Home” which round out the five-track EP. As for 6lack, the new visual comes after he released “Rent Free” and “By Any Means” to close out 2021. He also collaborated with Saba on “Still” which also features Smino.

You can watch the video for “Lately” above.

Left On Read is out now via LVRN and Interscope. You can stream it here.
