50 Cent’s pivotal 2003 LP Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ was the launching pad for him and his G-Unit collective to gain traction as a powerhouse at the turn of the millennium in Hip Hop. To the surprise of many, Fif let it be known that he wishes that the weight of superstardom wasn’t on his shoulders, but rather on the shoulders of his next in charge, Tony Yayo.
In an interview with Big Boy’s Neighborhood, 50 said, “My solo album took off so big that I just brought them with me, so it was clear that it was me creating opportunity for everybody else in the crew, but we was all together. I wish it would have been Yayo, because then I coulda did all of the business. If he woulda did what 50 Cent did, then I would have been running the whole thing.”
In his interview with Big Boy’s Neighborhood, 50 Cent also announced that he’s been green lighted to start working on an 8 Mile TV series to help solidify Eminem‘s legacy, though details remain few and far in between.
“We in motion. It’s gonna be big. I’m working. I ain’t got no duds. I’m batting 100 … I think it should be there for [Eminem’s] legacy because it’s important to me that they understand it.”
50 Cent is getting back into the studio. The superstar television executive will briefly depart his worlds of BMF and Power for the music studio to create a new album. To get fans more excited, Dr. Dre will work alongside 50 for the album.
50 Cent pulled up to Big Boy’s Neighborhood and revealed he got a call from Shady/Aftermath to get back into the studio.
“I got a text from [Eminem] that he had already spoke to Dre, and that Dre is in there and he got some crazy stuff for me to go hear,” 50 Cent said. “This is my process: I’ll go make something, what I can find, the best music that I can put my hands on. And when I feel real good about it, I bring it to put pressure on Dre to offer me something. ‘Cause he’ll have something… He’s always had something.”
50 Cent is also ready to expand his BMF series with multiple spinoffs. Speaking at the premiere for season 2 of the hit show, 50 tells Deadline about the transition in leadership at Starz and how excited he is about it.
“They got some really, really smart executives coming in to help rebuild Starz in the right way. And it’s exciting for me,” 50 said. “You’ll get a chance to see three spinoff shows from ‘BMF.’ It’s ‘BMF’ immortal.”
The expanded BMF series is currently in development, and the titles and details about the spinoffs will be announced later. Last month, Jackson and Starz announced the creation of Fightland, a new series based in the high-stakes, cash-rich, violent world of British boxing.
Argentina made history at the 2022 FIFA World Cup, leading to momentous celebrations upon their return to their home fans. Apparently, the only thing missing from this significant sports moment was rap music legend, Eminem. While Nicki Minaj, Maluma, and Myriam teamed up for the official FIFA fan festival anthem, attendees, according to 50 Cent (real name Curtis Jackson), could have been treated to an in-person performance from the Detroit native.
During his visit to REAL 92.3 FM’s show Big Boy’s Neighborhood, the mogul revealed Eminem turned down the opportunity to perform at the FIFA World Cup.
“I got an inquiry about World Cup, and they had a budget of $9 million. I would’ve taken one, and then the other eight would have been for him.” However, it was quickly shot down after sharing the proposal with Eminem’s manager Paul Rosenberg.
“[Paul] like, he’s not gonna do it.” While Jackson has discussed on multiple occasions how he’s walked away from lucrative deals, including a $1.3 million offer from Universal Music Group, he was shocked to hear Eminem’s decision considering he has performed at the Super Bowl with Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent.
Jackson mentioned their Superbowl performance and said, “If you would do a one-off show, maybe you would do the biggest live sporting event in the world,” said Jackson referring to the World Cup.
Although Jackson doesn’t explicitly mention which year his mentor was asked to perform at the sporting competition, the rumor about the league having a hard time booking talent for last year’s series in Qatar may have some truth to it overall.
During the same interview, Jackson shared that he is currently working on a television series honoring Eminem’s life and legacy, “I wanna bring… I’m gonna bring 8 Mile to television,” said Jackson, “We in motion. It’s gonna be big. I’m working. I ain’t got no duds.”

It was a Super Bowl halftime performance that has gone down in history, but 50 Cent is back with accusations about Jay-Z. Fif took to the stage with Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, and Dr. Dre. It was one of the most widely praised performances in recent halftime history, and 50 chatted with Big Boy’s Neighborhood about possible tension with Hov and his team.
“I got the call before the [Pepsi] ad went up,” said Fif. “I wasn’t in the ad because of—Jay-Z and them was putting it together.”

“So, I think they still harbor some energy towards me,” 50 Cent added. Big Boy asked if the Power mogul truly believed he was purposefully excluded from the promotional ad.
“No. I think that they—they were saying that the NFL had some issues with me. I don’t know what those issues are,” Fif answered. “What is the issue? You see what I’m sayin’?” He also mentioned a conversation where he learned that Eminem wouldn’t perform with 50 Cent.
“That’s your big homie,” said Fif. He then remarked about Hov seemingly mirroring the looks of Jean-Michel Basquiat. “You image yourself after a gay painter. Big homie wanna look like a gay painter.”
Big Boy was a tad confused, but 50 Cent returned to his story about the halftime show.
“Em was looking at the entire legacy. The whole thing with Em, Dre, myself,” the rapper continued. Additionally, he stated that he was already in communication to perform at the Super Bowl, but the promotional ad was set in motion. Fif also said when he attempted to reach out to learn “what the complications” were, he didn’t receive a straight answer.
“I have to believe that was something from them,” he further said, alluding to there being an issue with Jay-Z. Big Boy also wanted to know if the two Rap icons discussed the confusion.
“We don’t need to talk about nothin’,” said 50 Cent.
This isn’t the first time Fif complained about Jay not wanting him at the Super Bowl. He first emerged with the accusation just two months after the outstanding performance.

Power stars Joseph Sikora, Michael Rainey, Isaac Keys, and Kris Lofton, as well as celebrity attendees Kelly Rowland, 2 Chainz, G Herbo, Cordae, D Smoke, Hit-Boy, Mario, Omarion, Tee Grizzly, YK Osiris, Lance Gross, Eric Bellinger, ORyan, and others, expressed their support.
Season two of BMF explores the unexpected journey to success of the Flenory brothers, Demetrius Flenory “Big Meech” and Terry Flenory “Southwest Tee,” who ascended from the depths of poverty to become game changers in hip-hop and culture while navigating Detroit’s drug war. Throughout the emotional season, the audience cheers on the Flenory brothers as they work to achieve the American Dream in a system that is stacked against them. Family, faith, and loyalty are universal topics that are explored both at home and on the streets. The brothers work together to outwit the government and grow BMF into a multi-state empire.
Over thirteen months have passed since the Season 1 finale of BMF aired at the tail-end of 2021. The Starz original crime drama follows the rise, as well as the eventual downfall, of the infamous Black Mafia Family. Executive produced by Power mogul 50 Cent, BMF offers a dramatized account of Demetrius “Big Meech” and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory’s exploits as the founding members of one of the most notorious African American crime families in the history of the United States. What’s more, Big Meech’s own son — Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr. — was cast in the lead role as his father, and rising actor Da’Vinchi portrayed Southwest T.
Together, Lil Meech and Da’Vinchi brought BMF’s story to light in a captivating way. While it wasn’t without its faults, BMF’s first season brought in an average of 0.379 million viewers per episode. The Season 1 finale featured the long-awaited showdown between Meech and fan-favorite villain Lamar Silas (portrayed by Eric Kofi-Abrefa), and it didn’t disappoint. BMF’s inaugural season finale brought in over half a million viewers on its own, and it set the stage for an even more exciting second season.
After a long wait and a myriad of updates amid 50 Cent and Starz’s ongoing beef, BMF is finally back. The Season 2 premiere aired on Friday, January 6, and it wasted no time setting up the show’s latest story arc. Without a doubt, a lot went down in the Solvan “Slick” Naim-directed episode. Here’s Everything That Happened In BMF Episode 201: “Family Dinner”
Titled “Family Dinner,” BMF’s Season 2 opener is thematically centered around communal family moments. Whereas Season 1 kicked off with a flash-forward of Meech, the sophomoric outing begins with a flash-forward of T. After a written quote about family dinners fades away, T brings his crew together for a meal in St. Louis. According to T, Meech has already been arrested. Still, Southwest T is confident that he’ll evade the feds because he thinks he’s smarter than his brother. However, everything comes crashing down during T’s family dinner when officers storm his house. T is arrested by an aged-up Detective Bryant (portrayed by Steve Harri), and Leslie Jones makes a comedic cameo as Bryant’s partner.
Then, the show cuts back to the late 1980s. Meech prepares to smuggle product from Las Vegas back to Detroit. Before leaving Sin City, Meech quickly crosses paths with Rick “Freeway” Ross and Shower Posse’s Christopher Coke. After evading a potential arrest, Meech makes it back to Detroit safely.
Once back in Detroit, viewers are reunited with the younger version of Southwest T. In a nod back to Meech and T’s rift at Season 1’s conclusion, T takes his driver’s test. Despite a potential setback, he earns his license and prepares to go into business with his father. Later on in the episode, his child and baby’s mother (portrayed by Sydney Mitchell) return to Detroit. However, due to his growing crush on LaLa Anthony’s character Markaisha Taylor, he remains detached from his former love interest.

Elsewhere, the Flenory patriarch (portrayed by Russell Hornsby) links up with his wife (portrayed by Michole Briana White). Their relationship is still on the rocks because the family continues to struggle financially. Nevertheless, they refuse to accept monetary assistance from Meech. Thus, their familial ties are strained. For instance, tension boils over when the mother slaps her daughter, Nicole (portrayed by Laila Pruitt).
Drama quickly unfolds at the school’s basketball game. Both Meech and T attend the game and cross each other’s paths, but they still aren’t on good terms. Shockingly, one of the game’s attendees murders the team’s coach in cold blood over a payment dispute. The show eventually introduces the shooter as K-9 (portrayed by Rayan Lawrence), Meech’s volatile new connect. Apparently, Meech’s trip from Vegas to Detroit was part of K-9’s screening to see whether he could count on Meech. While being further vetted by K-9, Big L (portrayed by Walnette Marie Santiago) makes an appearance. She tells K-9 that she wouldn’t do business with Meech, causing K-9 to reconsider working with him, as well.
Amidst Meech and T’s growing drama, Detective Bryant embarks on a new path of his own. In contrast to his role as a dirty cop in Season 1, Bryant is now fully committed to arresting Meech. Furthermore, Bryant now has custody of his son, but that side plot takes a backseat to his efforts against Meech. In an early episode debrief, his supervisor reminds him that Kato and Lamar Silas’ murders need to be solved. As a result, she assigns him a new partner, Detective Veronica Jin (portrayed by Kelly Hu).

Together, they work to sniff out the 50 Boys and prevent additional street violence. In a surprising demonstration of her grit, Detective Jin hits Dink (portrayed by actor/rapper JVSUN) with her car. They arrest him, and Bryant clearly gains respect for his new partner. As a result, he brings her to a heavily policed hospital and shows her Lamar Silas is still alive. The Season 1 villain has been detained and renamed by authorities, but he remains in a coma. After that insane reveal, the show jumps back to Meech and B-Mickie (portrayed by Myles Truitt).
Despite enduring a major setback with Dink’s arrest, Meech still doubles down on his attempt to work with K-9. His new mentor, and potential future adversary, agrees to bring Meech into his business. Without hesitation, he assigns Meech 20 bricks. However, before Meech can even celebrate the win, K-9 warns Meech to never be late with his money. In fact, he casually informs Meech he wouldn’t hesitate to kill him and his brother over a late payment. Then, K-9 delivers the Season 2 premiere’s second jaw-dropper. After presenting his team with gifts of jewelry, K-9 gives Meech a box bigger than everyone else’s. Surprisingly, the box contains Big L’s mouth, completely detached from her body. Earlier, K-9 and Big L seemed like close friends, so this is just a small example of his treachery.
Regardless, Meech is blinded by ambition, so he continues to push forward with his new product. He makes one last attempt to recruit T back to drug dealing, but his brother doesn’t budge. After a tense fight, they go their separate ways and prepare for two very different types of family dinners.

T eats a big meal with his family for their anticlimactic Sunday dinner. Contrarily, Meech eats takeout with his soldiers inside their crew’s headquarters. Meech deads the 50 Boys moniker that he and T used throughout the first season and officially rebrands his crew as the Black Mafia Family.
Although Meech’s call to “pledge allegiance to the Black Mafia Family” could’ve been a satisfying conclusion, the premiere keeps going. After the Flenory family dinner, T overhears his mother and girlfriend’s strategy to get him out of the streets. He confronts them about it, and he immediately loses trust in his entire family. While he may not yet realize it, Meech also can’t trust the people around him. His newly confirmed right-hand man, B-Mickie, is unfortunately still working as an informant for Detective Bryant.
With drama slowly unfolding for the Flenory brothers, “Family Dinner” closes out with its third and final gut punch. In the final moments of the Season 2 premiere, Lamar awakens from his coma, undoubtedly spelling trouble for Meech and T.

Following the success of 50 Cent’s breakout 2003 single “In da Club,” the New York native went on to achieve a successful career in rap and business.
Ahead of the song’s 20-year anniversary, he was asked what inspired him to start the track with the iconic line, “Go shorty, it’s ya birthday.” The rapper then shared that they were simply the first lyrics he thought of.
Sitting down with Real 92.3, 50 Cent revealed earlier this week,“It’s just the first thing that came to mind. Like when you think of the nightclub…Even the ladies, right? When y’all go to the nightclub…when you go with your girlfriend and it’s her birthday you go with intentions to have a good time regardless to who’s there.”
Featured on 50 Cent’s debut album Get Rich or Die Tryin’, the song’s well-known music video shows the rapper partying at the club and infamously doing hanging sit-ups at the gym. “In da Club” producer Dr. Dre also made an appearance in the visual along with Eminem, who helped discover 50.
The song begins with the famous lyrics, “Go, shorty / It’s your birthday / We gon’ party like it’s your birthday / We gon’ sip Bacardi like it’s your birthday / And you know we don’t give a f**k it’s not your birthday.”
The album and hit single earned the “Many Men” rapper several Grammy nominations, with 50 Cent considered for Best Rap Song, Best Male Rap Solo Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best New Artist in 2004.
50 Cent was eventually able to expand his talent outside of the hip-hop community, later working with Vitamin Water, partnering with Effen Vodka, and becoming an overall mogul. In 2014, he added even more to his resume when he co-produced the hit Starz drama “Power.”
Though the series wrapped up with six seasons, it spawned several spinoffs including “Power Book II: Ghost” and “Power Book III: Raising Kanan.” 50 Cent also serves as executive producer of “BMF,” the crime series chronicling Big Meech’s Black Mafia Family.
