50 Cent & Remy Martin Close To Reaching Settlement In Branson Cognac Lawsuit: Report

Hip-hop’s elite has faced some pretty steep lawsuits within the alcohol sector, including Jay-Z and 50 Cent. Though they aren’t the first two to enter the alcohol sector, they’ve undoubtedly faced significant headaches due to legal battles. Jay recently reached a settlement with Bacardi over his stake in D’usse, which he reportedly sold for $750M. However, Remy Martin took issue with 50 Cent’s Sire Spirits over the sale of Branson Cognac. Remy accused Sire Sprits of copying their bottle for Branson Cognac.

Remy Martin filed a lawsuit against 50 Cent’s Sire Spirit in 2021 in a Manhattan court. In a filing, they claimed Branson Cognac’s bottle is “indistinguishable” from Remy Martin’s XO cognac. Remy martin went as far as describing the Branson bottle as a “near exact reproduction.” It appears that their argument is based on the circular shape of the bottle. However, Remy stated that they worked diligently to build their legacy through “extensive advertising, promotion, and sales over the past 35 years.”

50 Cent Shuts Down Remy Martin’s Claims

In response to the lawsuit, Attorney Reena Jain defended Branson Cognac’s bottle. Jain claimed that the design is “simply too basic to be locked up by any single company.” Additionally, Jain accused Remy Martin of trying to shove out their competitors from the retail space. “No brand or company has the right to exclude others from making or selling curved bottle for Cognac or other alcohol,” the filing read. “Nonetheless, Remy Martin is on a mission to eliminate Sire Spirits from the Cognac market.”

Leave it to Fif to address legal issues on Instagram. Shortly after the 2021 filing, he made it clear that he didn’t replicate the Remy XO bottle for Branson Cognac. Though he only launched Sire Spirits in 2018, Fif said that he left Remy Martin shaking in its boots. “They are afraid of me already,” he wrote in Instagram Post that has since been removed from his page, per Vibe. “Branson Cognac is the new wave. REMY is #2 Behind Henny and worried about Branson SMH I’m just getting started.” We’ll continue to keep you updated on Remy Martin’s lawsuit against Sire Spirits.

50 Cent Said He Won’t Pick Sides Between Cardi B And Nicki Minaj But Went All-In On One Anyway

The feud between Cardi B and Nicki Minaj has cooled off since their open conflict in 2018, but that doesn’t mean it’s over. Now, it’s more of a Cold War, as we saw last year when they renewed hostilities mainly through proxies like Akbar V and JT after Nicki apparently demanded a blood oath in exchange for a slot on the “Super Freaky Girl (Queen Mix).”

Likewise, most observers have remained cautiously neutral (although that hasn’t exactly been a winning strategy either). There is, however, one exception: 50 Cent, the king of controversy himself. Never one to shy away from a hot take or a chance to stir the pot, 50 weighed in on the feud between the two in a new interview with Billboard celebrating the 20th anniversary of his debut album.

At first, he feigns reluctance to choose a side, saying, “Hip-hop culture makes you battle. I love Nicki Minaj, but the funny sh*t is, I like watching her when she’s upset… When Cardi B came, I thought she was dope… When her and Nicki clash, I go, ‘Oh, sh*t, it’s going to be interesting to watch how it plays out.’ Lyrically, I won’t say anything competitively about the two of them.”

It didn’t take him long to throw in with his fellow Queens native, though, admitting, “… I love Nicki. I don’t have anything against Cardi. I think anyone who comes now, she is going to check their temperature. Nicki is going to check if this b*tch is friendly or looking to take over the sh*t.”

Nicki certainly does that, although in more recent years, she’s mellowed out to the point of working with Coi Leray, Doja Cat, and the Queen Mix crew. However, it doesn’t look like she’s revising her longstanding policy anytime soon, and for some — especially those who, like 50, relish the battle side of hip-hop — that’s just fine.

50 Cent Puts Grammys On Blast For Failed Closed Caption During Bad Bunny’s Performance

Bad Bunny’s impact is undeniable but the Grammys didn’t necessarily accommodate his performance the way they should’ve — an issue that 50 Cent, among many others, pointed out recently. The Puerto Rican rapper became a groundbreaking figure in the American music industry for the Spanish-speaking community around the globe. This was as evident in his appearance at the Grammys, where he was nominated in three categories, including Album Of The Year and Best Música Urbana Album, while also hitting the stage.

Bunny performed “El Apagón” and “Después de la Playa,” along with a live band and traditional dancers. Unfortunately, his fans weren’t happy with CBS’s effort to provide Spanish closed captions during his appearance. Bunny delivered a bilingual speech but when he spoke Spanish, the closed captions read, “[SPEAKING NON-ENGLISH].” Then, during his performance, it similarly read, “[SINGING IN NON-ENGLISH].” This caused an uproar on social media among fans who labeled it racist.

50 Cent Chimes In

50 Cent also felt a type way about CBS’s broadcast of Bad Bunny’s appearance at the Grammys. Describing the “Yonaguni” artist as one of the biggest artists right now, he went in on the Recording Academy. “The Grammys need to be check about this, Fvcking @badbunnypr bigger than everybody right now and you can’t pay for closed caption. Wtf is this speaking Non-English,” he wrote. “FIX IT.” Though Fif isn’t the first person to bring up this issue, he might be the most prominent.

The Bad Bunny mishap hardly scratches the surface when it comes to 50 Cent’s issues with the Grammys. As “In Da Club” reached 1.5B views on YouTube alone, he recalled the Grammys snubbing him in the Best New Artist category in 2004. At the time, Evanescence took home the awards and Fif suggested that he was “cheated” out of a Grammy that year. “Still no best new artist. I don’t know why people always want to cheat me man,” he wrote on IG. “They are counting from 2009, that song came out in 2003 Damn it Man !” It seems as though Fif has a list of grievances with the Grammys that continues to build up every year. Check his post above.

50 Cent Calls Master P “A Good Dude,” Says Romeo Is Only Person Who Didn’t Get Paid

Throughout the last few weeks of 2022, a nasty social media spat broke out between Master P and his son, Romeo Miller. The two found themselves publicly feuding about money matters. Specifically, the 33-year-old claims he was never paid for the work he did on Rap Snacks.

Miller says he put in 15 free years of work at the company under the assumption that his “payday would come.” He further accused his father of attempting to “gaslight and break [him]” while refusing to take “accountability [for] his mistakes/greed.” Things were undeniably tense between the duo for a few weeks. Thankfully, they recently linked up to settle their differences and put the beef behind them.

Master P and his son may be ready to move on from their feud, but that doesn’t mean 50 Cent is done talking about it. Earlier this month, the No Limit CEO claimed to be “the first person to believe in” the “I Get Money” hitmaker. “Nobody else believed in him,” P shared on the Montgomery & Co. podcast recently.

“I seen the vision, like this guy’s a hard worker. He has a lot of talent. So, I’m going to put my money up to put him on tour — which is a blessing,” the 52-year-old went on. While responding to these comments on Instagram today (February 9), the BMF producer made it known that he has no issues with what was being said.

Reposting a snippet from the interview, 50 wrote in the caption, “Master P a good dude. I never heard nobody say no bad shit about him. Except [for] Romeo he paid everybody.” Fans have been cracking plenty of jokes in the comment section. “50 said we both got unappreciative ass-son syndrome,” one person quipped.

Aside from stirring up trouble on social media, 50 Cent also seems eager to get back into the music game. He revealed that Dr. Dre will be responsible for producing his next album. Additionally, the New Yorker teased some upcoming collaborations with industry moguls. Firstly, there’s his “Crack A Bottle” co-rapper, Eminem, who’s apparently sent him a few new tracks.

Additionally, Carl Lammare of Billboard says that Nas has recruited the Power producer to join him on King’s Disease 4. An estimated release date for the project remains unknown, though it was just a few months ago when Hit-Boy and his lyricist friend shared KD3. Revisit that project here, and read what else Fif had to say about his upcoming musical releases here.

50 Cent Talks Nicki Minaj & Cardi B: “Hip Hop Culture Makes You Battle”

As one of Hip Hop’s elite group of successful moguls, 50 Cent has mentored several artists. The Rap icon’s accolades include everything from television to production to music and beyond, so it was only fitting that he caught up with Billboard for a sprawling feature. During the conversation, Fif was asked about mentoring artists like DaBaby and Pop Smoke. Additionally, he was questioned about this generation’s Hip Hop artists and his involvement in helping them with their careers.

“I only like the ones that I see myself in. A lot of the other s–t, I be like, ‘Yeah, what the f–k is this, man?’ I’ve got to believe them and the s–t they’re saying to be into the artist. They [also] have to want to be mentored. I’ll talk to them and touch base with them because I see that in them. You go, ‘Yo, you have to focus on what you came for and what’s important to you, and get those things together versus just riding it out.”

Fif also touched on his “competitive energy,” noting that “Hip Hop culture makes you battle.” He further mentioned Nicki Minaj. “But the funny s–t is, I like watching her when she’s upset,” he said. “I like that because she has something that comes from the experience of living in South Jamaica. I’m looking at it like, ‘Yo, I know they think she’s nuts, but they only think that because they don’t understand.’ I get it. She thinks you’re trying to play her.”

“When Cardi B came, I thought she was dope. She’s from the bottom,” Fif also said. “She was in Club Lust in Brooklyn. [Going] from that and actually making a hit record and turning into who she did? I don’t know why anybody wouldn’t like to see that. It felt like she got everything — married, the baby — it came really fast. That’s the American dream right there.”

“When her and Nicki clash, I go, ‘Oh, s–t, it’s going to be interesting to watch how it plays out.’ Lyrically, I won’t say anything competitively about the two of them, but I love Nicki. I don’t have anything against Cardi. I think anyone who comes now, she is going to check their temperature. Nicki is going to check if this b-tch is friendly or looking to take over the s–t.”

Meanwhile, the tension between Minaj and Cardi has been well-documented. These days, the women have quietly been in their own spaces, but their fanbases have been called out for continuously pitting the women against one another. Check out more from 50 Cent’s Billboard cover feature below.

50 Cent Confirms Collab With Nas On “King’s Disease 4”

50 Cent wasn’t joking when he said he was going to return to music this year. The Power mogul put more of his effort into television and mentoring up-and-coming rappers recently. However, the 20th anniversary of his debut album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin, and recent RIAA certifications put a battery in his back. He revealed earlier this year that he was going to return to music and deliver some heat.

He explained that he wanted to return to music following his 2022 international tour dates. “I get the attention that I want from music when I want it,” he told Billboard. “I just went out and toured 45 countries, and everywhere was sold out. That made me want to offer new music that I could integrate into everything now,” he added. Fif will also be hitting the road later this year for his first tour in 13 years. It’s going to be a busy year for Fif between the numerous television projects and an anticipated album.

50 Cent On Collabs With Dr. Dre, Nas, and Eminem

The television mogul opened up about his working relationship with Dr. Dre, who will produce Fif’s next album. He detailed a lengthy process of refining his work in the studio to satisfy Dre’s ear. However, he credits Dre for understanding his creative direction each time. “I would write the record to break the ice, and we’d have something playing like [Dre] just got here even if he’s been here two or three hours and we got a record playing. He will change the drums and everything that you got there until you got something that’s a hit record,” he explained.

Fif apparently already has a few collaborations in the works already alongside revered legends. Billboard reports that Eminem already sent him new records to collaborate on, while Nas reached out for a feature on his next Hit-Boy-produced project. “He is now working on a studio album with Dr. Dre, Eminem has sent him new songs to collaborate on, and Nas has tapped him for a feature on his forthcoming King’s Disease 4,” Billboard’s Carl Lamarre stated. Hopefully, a new single comes soon. We’ll keep you posted on anymore updates from Fif.

Ray J Says 50 Cent Took a Dump During Facetime Meeting

Ray J Says 50 Cent Took a Dump During Facetime Meeting

Another day, another hilarious story involving 50 Cent.

Ray J recently visited The Breakfast Club to tell an epic story of that one time he was in the middle of a pitch meeting with 50 Cent, who decided to take a dump.

The 42-year-old states he’s had multiple conversations with 50 Cent, but this one was a standout.

“One conversation me and Jackie [Long] had with 50, [he] was moving around. I don’t know if he didn’t like our idea, or he liked it and he was just like, ‘I gotta get it in before I get on the plane.’”

Before Ray J continues, he gives a disclaimer: “Fif, don’t be mad at me” – proceeding to state that 50 had taken a shit in the middle of their virtual meeting.

“We on FaceTime, Jackie Long set it up, and 50 took a dump on the meeting that I had when I was in a pitch,”  Ray J explains. “He went in and just did it. I don’t know if he liked the idea, like the idea was wack and just shitted on it.”

While Ray J made it a point that he wasn’t 100% sure 50 took this dump, he made his assumptions on the situation.

At this point, Charlamagne adds his two cents, stating it probably wasn’t the best look for Ray J to be putting 50’s business on blast.

But Ray J ultimately twisted it into a positive.

“To me, I felt it was gangster. It was like, we got little homied. It felt like we got little homied in the meeting because maybe the idea wasn’t good.”

Ray J also added that 50 Cent is busy, so it’s understandable. But during a conversation?

Let’s see if 50 cares enough to respond!

‘BMF’: Here’s All The Music You Heard In Season 2, Episode 5

(SPOILERS for this week’s BMF episode will be found below.)

In episode five of season two of BMF, titled “Moment Of Truth,” Meech and Terry have finally arrived in Atlanta. They touch down in the city, with the goal of finding cocaine to bring back home and sell in order to make up for some losses gained during the drought and following Meech’s shooting. During this trip, Meech and Terry are forced to work together more than they have so far this season and it leads to a life-altering decision for Terry, which is one Meech hoped he’d make for a long time.

The aforementioned events in the fifth episode of BMF season two, titled “Moment Of Truth,” are soundtracked by songs that help to accentuate the emotions behind each scene. You can find a list of them belong as well as details about the scenes that they are heard in.

The following records were provided thanks to the Starz Public Relations team.

The Winans — “Are We Really Doing Your Will?”

This record plays at the beginning of the episode, around the 0:44 mark, as Terry and Meech make their way to Atlanta. It begins with a flashback to their childhood as the duo rides in the car with Nicole, Charles, and Lucille as this same song plays.

Precise x Sam Hook x Fredro — “Lyrical Genius”

At the 03:27 mark, Meech and Terry presumably make a stop in Cleveland to confront James for stealing money from them. It’s here that Meech beats him up and steals his car.

50 Cent — “Wish Me Luck” Feat. Charlie Wilson

This is the theme song of BMF. It plays at the 04:02 mark in “Moment Of Truth.” While it’s only 50 Cent and Charlie Wilson’s voices that are heard in this moment, the song also features Snoop Dogg and Moneybagg Yo.

Budda — “CPT”

At the 06:38 mark, Meech and Terry are finishing their drive to Atlanta. During the ride, Meech discovers that Terry has brought his school textbook with him on the ride. Meech throws it out of the window and scolds Terry for not being focused on the task at hand.

Crown — “‘80s Dance”

Around the 09:52 mark, this record can be heard as Meech and Terry enter an Atlanta strip club to meet a woman we eventually learn is Goldie. During this moment, Meech learns that Terry has feelings for someone but he doesn’t reveal that it is Markeisha.

Colon — “Celebrity”

A short time later, at the 11:35 mark, Meech and Terry enter a back room to meet Goldie. Terry requests a dice game with the hope that he and Meech can win some money to buy more cocaine, but as newcomers, Terry and Meech are cheated out of their game and lose $7,500 out of the $15,000 they had to their name.

Roger — “Love Ain’t Enough”

This record can be heard as Charles is fixing a cabinet at Mabel’s house. Before he can leave the house, Mabel invites him to a party she’s planning, and while Charles is initially hesitant to attend, he eventually accepts the invite.

LL — “HBCU Lacey Change 222″

Meech and Terry make their way to a high school game to meet an old friend from Detroit at the 21:03 mark. At this moment, their old friend tells them to meet him at his house later and Monique calls Meech to let him know that Denise will take on the drug charge in exchange for them paying for her son’s college tuition.

Arman — “One Dance”

Right around the 30:24 mark, Charles’ troublesome ways continue as he and Mabel dance together at a party that she’s throwing. At this point, it remained to be seen whether or not he will fall for Mabel’s trap, but we all know it didn’t take too long for that to happen

Crystal — “You Sent Him Over”

Just minutes later at the 34:54 mark, Charles officially falls for Mabel’s trap as the two have sex in a hallway of her house after the party. The scene was a quick one as it ended with Charles shamefully rushing out of the house and Mabel looking lustfully at him as he walked out.

City — “Smoke That”

At the 35:45 mark, Terry and Meech arrive at the dice game that they forced Goldie to bring them to in order to win back the money they lost playing a dice game at Goldie’s club. Terry and Meech enter the game under fake names with the goal of tricking their competitors into thinking that they’re not on the same team.

Extreme — “Serious”

This song briefly plays at the 38:25 mark as Charles reminisces on having sex with Mabel. Lucille and Nicole have also returned from their retreat and Lucille apologizes for her errors in their strained relationship.

Art of Noise — “Moments in Love”

After talking to each other, Lucille and Charles have their own sex scene at the 41:57 mark. Charles seems a bit hesitant to engage in an intimate moment with Lucille, especially with it being so soon after he had sex with Mabel, but here we are.

Marlon Osi — “Fresh White Sneakers”

At the 44:36 mark, B-Mickie beats up Kevin’s bully for Detective Bryant. B-Mickie approaches the three boys outside their school and starts punching one of them while daring the other two to defend their friend. This came after Bryant failed to get help from the school, or his reluctant son, to find a way to stop the bullying.

Travon — “We Gon Get Through This”

Travon’s “We Gon Get Through This” plays at the 48:53 mark to close the episode. It rings off after Lamar made a surprise visit to the Flenory house, something that could’ve ended very badly if it were not for some quick and hopeful thinking from Lucille.

New episodes of ‘BMF’ are available on the STARZ app on Fridays at 12:00 am EST and on the STARZ TV channel at 8:00 pm EST.
